Hello all
Christine are you still in the air or have you landed..hope you have a lovely time ..sure you will..
Kath sorry I missed you earlier I get a sore arm after the flu jab..we had ours yesterday and manged to get OH in ...he hates needles..
Toady I am with you so at least you see whats causing what..I think I hard quite a few people on here that suffer from tiredness with the mtx
Joan a folding walking stick with alight what a good idea if you go out in the dark at least cars would see you coming and it would light up the ground
My thumb that they wanted to operate on is playing up so finding it hard to use the crutches or crutch..thing is if I have the op done it will be a couple of months before I could get about  dont you just love it..anyhow we took our GD to the meeting it was for £80 for 40 hours like we thought but the bus fare would have meant coming home with £15 not good.. :shock:Love
Barbara0 -
potted crab Kath. all gone now. Today I had mackerel. I've put some weight back on  I got complacent. So now I'll have to get back on track.
Had a funny eye on Sunday, it was all swollen, bloodshot and gooey so have only been wearing one contact lens but it is okay now.
Mig I am sorry to read you have lost your Mother's brother.
Toady I've didn't get anything important done and haven't found the vouchers. I'm a bit slow at the moment.
It wasn't a blood test after all. it was a urine test and the forms were identical.
Got to laugh about your kidney ad -I wouldn't be surprised if it has caused a panic!
I remember MTX can make you tired. However I stopped mtx 18 months ago and I'm still always tired.
My squirrels have been trying to dig up my rudbeckia today so I'm not too pleased. Still it is only nature.
Today I had a nice postcard on behalf of my Son-he was being congratulated for perseverance and pupil of the week so how about that for a turnaround. Perseverace is not usually his strong point.
It has been noisy here luckily Dan is at club. It has just stopped. I thought the rain would put people off blaring their music out but it seems I am wrong. I'm wondering if soundproofing would help even if it was just one room?
Yes I have had my flu jab and no nasty symptoms apart from the very sore arm.
Well if your GD doesn't like school the nursery sounds lovely as long as she knows work is involved Barbara. She will have to look at the alternatives, which could be unemployment so this sounds like a lovely opportunity.
Righto off I go, love to the absentees, take care

Morning all
Going away for 3 days to Wales...not good weather but its a break..
I will take the laptop with me so will get on now and then..
Elizabeth how lovely to get the postcard little things to say they are doing well..my GD went to another meeting because the first nursery was miles away so lots of bus fare..and they are looking into teaching assistant because of her results...fingers crossed
Will speak later hope you are all doing ok..xxxxxxLove
Barbara0 -
Have a good break Barbara.
Very quiet around at the moment hope that means everyone is ok. Love to all Mig0 -
Hello all,
Hope you are all feeling reasonably well. The sun is out here.
Flu jab was ok, no problems yet. OH had his, and his Pneumovax too. So he had a jab in both arms. I had my Pneumovax some years ago.
On September 23rd I saw my rheumy nurse. She arranged for MTX injection delivery through Alcura. Not heard a dickie bird from them. Rang hospital this morning, my details were faxed through to Alcura on 29th September. They got onto it for me. Just had phone call from alcura, I asked what had gone wrong. She had no idea!! Injections arriving next Thursday (my choice) so I can start them finally. Only two weeks late. :?
Hope Wales is warm and welcoming Barbara.
Elizabeth, potted crab and mackerel. I must move in next door to you. We had Chicken Korma and rice today. Love a mild Korma. Can't cope with anything strong flavoured due to Sjogren's.
Toady, I don't believe you have ever been anti social in your life.
Bought a pair of new boots from H*tt*r yesterday. They are P**d*rs. Very comfortable and the best thing was, they were originally over £80 but I but they had been reduced to £59. 8) Well pleased."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." I've been trying to sleep today but only managed a little snoring session. Sometimes I cannot switch off.
They leave you to get on with the fatigue Toady. I just get told it is part of the illness.I was lucky to come off mtx and I am just on the humira now. I do not miss it at all.
Glad you got your injections sorted Kath and good luck with them. I keep looking at buying some boots but I'm hardly ever out nowadays so is it worth splashing out even with a good reduction.
Enjoy your trip away Barbara. I think it is going to be rainy in Wales but warmer than the past few days. That will be welcome.
I also hope Christine is enjoying her visit.
I've got one sock on to go with the one contact lens as it had a hole in it and it annoyed me so OH took it off for me.When I went off to get another one OH was covered in oil so I didn't want to ask him to put a new pair on..
I'm due a hair cut too.....Its looking tatty. Oh I had a spider in my hair this morning..don't know where he came from!
Toni are you feeling any better?Have a lovely weekend.

i hope you are all having a good day. with not too many problem's

Good Morning everyone
Thank you Elizabeth I am feeling much better, my voice is totally back
I was thinking the same about soundproofing a room for your son? I wonder how expensive it would be? No harm in investigating is there? then he's always have somewhere to retreat to.
I had a bad eye too this week. No gunge but it was really red and hurt to look at the light etc... hope your socks and contact lenses are sorted now
KathT I am glad you made that call about your MTX - you could have probably waited ANOTHER month otherwise!!!
Your boots sound lovely and a bargain too- I think it's time I had a look for a new pair. I have a lovely pair of cl***s ones, but they are long with no zip and are about 7 years old.
Mig - I am sorry to hear if I understood correctly that you have lost your uncle now too.
Barbara Some of the apprenticeships are ok, but a lot are like the old YT schemes and there is no real job at the endShe is wise to investigate thoroughly.
My step-daughter's bf did one with a well-known haulage company and he has done really well. Got his class 1 and 2 now
I hope Wales is ok - a change is as good as a rest
Joan I hope both of your flu jabs go ok. Paul and I are done, but Lucy is too scared. At least we won't bring it in the house anyway.
That walking stick sounds a good idea
Toady - poor youI am sorry you are so tired. It's exhausting isn't it? I do hope that leaving off the MTX helps you a little.
I saw a red squirrel in Scotland once, but ours here is grey in our gardenI love them, but worry that Daisycat will try to catch one :?
Christine on her holidaysI hope you are having a fabulous time!!!! I do wish I was with you
Love to you all
Toni xxx0 -
Glad you are much better Toni.
I have looked into sound proofing and triple glazing but the issue is getting OH to agree. All he will do is bring up the reasons not to.....and it will just get left like the patio.
Any way great news this morning. Daniel has been accepted on a 4 day trip next March. This will allow me to go on a much needed break somewhere and not have to worry about Daniel getting upset! I'm now wondering where to go....Amsterdam for the museums, a spa break, a trip to Durham to research family history and visit my eldest Daughter, go somewhere exotic and warm for 4 days???? I won't get another opportunity like this for ages. Just hope my hip lasts until then.
Also my brother sent me a email; My late Mother had her pic in the local Eastbourne paper. It was sent in by someone about evacuees and she named my Mum amongst others asking how everyone was doing nowadays too so feel I should get in touch and reply. Her nickname was Skinny in those days!
Finally got new socks on. It was annoying wearing one but I couldn't change it myself. The eye has cleared up now but it wasn't a pretty sight.
I'll post this as Daniel has just arrived.

Hello all
bit dull but dry, anyway. Hope applerose and barbara are getting on ok in their various weather zones. Nice to see applerose fly in briefly thanks for saying hello.
Not doing much at the moment but hoping to get out tomorrow for the afternoon & see a friend. Don't be fooled KathI genuinely am not a social type. Especially now ra has put a spoke in things.. but even before I wasn't big on people, now I've all the makings of a recluse. I miss seeing my friends (such as they are) but I actually think I miss time spent out on my own slightly more if anything - I like thinking my own thoughts & all that. Glad you got some nice boots.
I wear them practically all year one way & another, I don't think I own anything else for outdoors.
Not surprised you don't miss mtx TK :? they do seem very keen on you taking it alongside other meds. I guess I'm lucky to tolerate it well at all. The tiredness varies but it just seems to be my weak point, annoying now that my joints are better as I can't get that much more done than I did when I was v inflammatory. Glad to hear about your break hopefully upcominghope you enjoy the planning. I used to live nr Durham but a long time back. Would be cold in March - the warm exotic trip would get my vote.
Spider in your hair? Getting into the Halloween spirit early?! Lovely to see your Mum in the paper.
Getting in touch with the friend would be nice.. but it's sitting down to do this sort of thing, isn't it.. hard to find time.
There seem to be nasty eyes going around, TK & frog, glad you both seem to have cleared up the irritation whatever it was. It's a wonder these things work as well as they do all the rest of the time. I never knew we have to produce oil to keep tears across the eye surface until applerose mentioned it. Glad you have got your voice back too frog. Is a song too much to ask.Cheer up a dull day.
Hope joan is well.. mig too.. and everyone has a nice quiet Sunday. Best to Barbara if she pops in from Wales (used to live there too.. toads get about)
Back in due course, xx0 -
Barbara, hope you're having a good time in Wales and the weather is holding out.
Elizabeth, a 4 day break? Sounds like a tough decision on where to go and what to do. I can never decide in these situations whether to rest or get lots done.
Kath, what a palaver getting your meds. Hope they do turn up on Thursday.
Hope Joan and Sue are having a good week.
Toni, glad you are back to normal now. Sounds as if Lucy is doing very well too. Brilliant.
Mig, sorry to hear about your mum's brother. Hope you are ok.
Toady, hope you are feeling a little better now. It's awful feeling so tired.
Having a lovely but tiring time. Running after kids, cleaning up etc. My daughter has sold most things now and the bin men took a lot yesterday. I'm home on Monday and my daughter and the family are coming to mine on Friday for a few days and to my son-in-law's family for a few days before they head off to the other side of the world. Still haven't been told for definite if he has the job yet. They do keep people hanging on.Christine0 -
Hello everyone, just a quick visit.
I'm feeling rather cross, as some of my Nodular Prurigo 'nodules' have begun to itch again. Also, new ones are appearing up my back. :? It's not as bad as before, because the Vasculitis seems to be under control. I feel this is because I didn't get the injections to start at the correct time and that has given PN a window of opportunity Grrrrr! :x
Hope everyone is ok this weekend."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Oh Kath I hope it wasn't a delay in the injections that caused it to flourish again! You had it under control so I'm not surprised you are cross.
I wasn't expecting to see you in the cafe Applerose. Sounds like you are having a good time. Time is marching on for the 'move' so make the most of the time together. I'm sure they are excited about the prospect of better weather and a fresh start job or no job. It wouldn't stop them going would it?
Well it certainly isn't the 20 degrees we were promised. IT is chilly here but I'm still eating ice cream.
I like my own company too Toady. It is a treat to have my own time and space. After so many years looking after Daniel full time I think I'm exhausted. I'd like to go away for those 4 days just to do something different. Durham would be cold in March but would I have time to go somewhere warm for 4 days? It would be a short stay!
Football on and sitting with Dan who is asking me lots of questions!

Good Morning everyone
The sun is out already
Elizabeth - I am sorry you didn't get a nice day yesterday - we did. It didn't look nice and was windy, but it was warm out there
I hope you enjoyed the football despite the questions  Lucy actually went to the football with her step-dad yesterday and loved it!!! He was able to drive right up to the entrance and get her a seat too
I - like you enjoy being alone sometimes - was on my own for the first time in AGES
Hi KathT
I hope the itchies don't itch for too long :? you poor thing
If it is the delay receiving your meds I would be fuming :x
Christine
I am glad you seem to be enjoying yourself with the kids, but how very scary not actually knowing officially whether he actually has the job
Thank you Lucy is definitely on the mend. Hope she stays that way.
Toady
a song?
Oh what a beautiful Morning!
Oh what a beautiful day.....
Oops better stop Daisycat started yowling
I like my own company too, but do miss being able to leap here and there and see people. It's very easy to stop inviting them over too.
These sort of forums are so good for keeping us in touch with others I think
Sun is out here I hope also with you
Elizabeth!!! I just spotted your news
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so pleased a break for you tooHow well-deserved and guilt-free as well
As for the article in the paper; as 'Skinny's' daughter I would definitely reply if I were you
I hope Barbara is resting up in Wales and enjoying the change in surroundings too
Going to the cinema I hope this afternoon while Lucy has enough neutrophils
Love to you all

Afternoon all
Im back ..had lovely weather..I only took one t shirt a 3 jumpers so had to buy a couple of t shirts..very unseasonal...the B&B was lovely over looking the sea and a lift..
I did read back..buck forgotten some of it..I see that Kath is itching again hope its short lived...
Elizabeth hope you can get away...has for going somewhere warm we have friends that go to Spain for the weekend..its not for me all the airport thing..would be nice if you could just get on a plane and go..
Toni yes I did get some rest ...there is plenty of coffee shops and sating in LLandudno..hope you and Lucy are keeping well..
Christine..nice you are enjoying your stay with your family..have they had word about there jobs yet..
Mig thankyou I did have a lovely break..hope that cold has eased up for you..sorry just looked back and they are not sure yet but at least they are organised...bet you are looking forward to them coming to yours...have a good rest before they do...
Joan hope you and Sue are doing ok and been enjoying this good weather
I will post some pics when I get organized...
I have brought some treacle toffee..a change from rock..will see you later xxxLove
Barbara0 -
'Afternoon
I bring cinnamon pastries
Just out of the oven and made (well, cooked from the packet,) by self; as promised.
Lovely to see barbara - and warmer than expected, how nice.Thank you for the toffee.
Applerose back too, glad all went well. Will get out extra cups now the cafe has a few more of its regulars in. Do hope all goes ok with your daughter & family in the next stage of their plans.
Kath, sorry about the new nodulesblast it
. Hope the mtx does help get a handle on things when you start them (will you have an injection the day they arrive/Thurs?). My skip a dose has not been conclusive but I suppose it will have given my system a break at least, back to the nasty pen for me today anyway.
Frog, thank you for the burst of song, and dear Daisycat too.I made it out of my recluse-y corner yesterday as planned, was a bit doubtful as I'd had a not brilliant couple of days, but I'm glad I didn't have to cancel and rearrange. I'm not a natural host so I'm afraid I tend to foist myself on friends rather than the other way, which is probably bad of me. Now a couple of weeks to play with before any more appts touch wood, so hoping to crack on with my decorating.
Glad to see there were outings for the frog family this week too!
It wasn't as nice weather as it might be TK but it is probably the last of the warm for a while; colder forecast this week. Yes a 4-day jaunt to the sun would be a bit much, I was just enjoying the idea of it on paper but reality is a different matter. Nice to have it to look forward to.
Hope everyone is having a good Monday so far, Joan, Mig, Bubbles and anyone reading too. xx Kettle on for a nice coffee.0 -
Hello Toady, Toni, Barbara, mig, Elizabeth, Joan, and whoever else is lurking.
I hope all are feeling not too bad. Are we all ready for the wind and rain? I'm certainly not, OH only has to hear a slight noise outside and he's worrying about the fence/tv aerial/garden furniture, all going walkabout or should I say flyabout?
Toady, thank you for the cinnamon pastries, delicious. And yes, as soon as I get my grubby little hands on the MTX I will have my first on Thursday night. As for the nodules, I've been scrubbing them with antibacterial hand gel. It stings, but stops the itching, so it hasn't been too bad. I don't suppose there will be any change after one injection though. :x
Barbara, I'm glad you had a good break and that the weather was better than expected.
Toni, can we start putting in song requests? I don't mind if daisycat joins in. How about "Hey Big Spender" It might encourage me to start looking at Christmas gifts.
Elizabeth, I hope Dan enjoyed his football and questions session with you. You must have the patience of a saint.
I'll just brush up these crumbs I've made with my pastries and put the kettle back on for more tea."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Still lovely and warm here..so got some more bulbs in..and went to Ald*e to stock up on fruit...hope the wind doesn't arrive and we keep the sun for has long as possible shortens winter..see you all later xxx

Hello Toady Kathleen Barbara and anyone else who's in.
i hope you are all having a pain free day as possible.
saturday i took sue's purse to the shop's i zipped my pocket up then i remembered the zip sticks i could not undo it i tried a pencil and WD the next day i went to a neighbour who pulled it with a pair of pliers.
the coat is old it has padding its warm for the winter.
take care all.
joan xxtake care
joan xx0 -
Evening all, very quiet hope you are all safe and sound in this awful weather..we went to Tes*o and one car had a near miss when some of the roof came off..it wasn't that bad when we started out and then..
Joan my OH has done that with a zip couldn't get to his money..we ended up damaging the zip and coat, so you did well there or your neighbours did.
I will put the kettle on in case anyone pops in and there is lemon drizzle cake...very lemony..see you all tomorrow..xxxxLove
Barbara0 -
Thank you for the cake barbara
yes plenty of pastries hep yourself, I made it in 2 batches and there is another pack in the fridge so there's more in hand.
Rough here today but not as bad as it might have been.. wouldn't have gone out unless vital, that sounded nasty in the car park  that's the trouble, it can whip up a lot worse quickly even though it has been looking deceptively quiet. Glad no-one hurt.
Haven't done much today. Waiting for a new set-top box for the tv, the old one has been declining a bit at a time, I am now down to hardly any remote control functions, the subtitles are stuck on, and now no sound so I have pushed it as far as can go.Resent having to buy something I didn't want in the first place tho, silly digital signal business.
I have had a broken zip incident too this week, on a handbag/shopping bag, the zip itself was not zipping up properly, and in getting the puller off to try & fix it, that broke too. Bit pointless replacing the whole zip on a cheap & cheerful bag but won't be able to use it if I don't. Annoying.
Thank you for the pictures, you would never say that was October weather it does look lovely. Like the way your OH is camouflaging himself neatly behind the newspaper.Do they have to bring the furniture in & out, as it's wicker-y type of thing? Expect it would have been rougher today, you got the last good bit of weather by a squeak.
Hope Kath's itching is still responding to the improvised gel 'treatment' & everyone else is doing ok, chilly start tomorrow they say - must go and get some sort of tea/supper type thing, no idea what. xx0 -
Morning all the sun is shinning but cold...
Toady OH didn't know I was taking the pic..or he would have movedyes we were shocked at being able to sit outside but really enjoyed it and the B&B I would recommend to anyone
the furniture is plastic look alike, she takes the cushion in , but apparently the down and outs pinch then out of her shed..they found them in the caves under the Orme
Hope your set top box arrives soon..not good when you cant get the channels  our remote doesn't work because my OH has it permanently in his hands pressing it..so the batteries are always low
Hope that Kath has sorted the itching ..its sounds awful..especially when you think you have got rid of it
Hope Christine is doing ok bet she is tired with all that has been going on recently...today I am doing some cleaning...not had any GDs here for a few days so its down to me
Will see you later hope you have a good day..xxxxxxLove
Barbara0 -
I didn't have a good day yesterday so stayed in bed but today I'm back o form. Respite day and fish chips so no cooking. I have the tallest pile of ironing ever!Have been looking for wide, fashionable trainers for both my boys (pref without laces) for ages and today think I have actually found some! Just going to double check with measurements.
I had the football on online but Dan's questions were about dogs! He's going through a greyhound stage.
Still not got the heating on but taking my hot water bottles to bed. Well I take one each for the kids too plus hot chocolate, line them all up on the stairs and walk up one step at a time.
Pleased to say Lucy got back into guitar club. Remember I was too late returning the form as they only gave 2 days to return them and I'm not that organised. I asked to put her on the reserve list asI knew somebody would eventually drop out and a lot of the kids just don't want to be there.
I saw that Lucy was going to the football (thought she was going with her male friend but can see you meant your Hubby). Hope she didn't get too cold. Wasn't sure who she went to see as there a a lot of clubs round your area. What did you see at the cinema? All my friends are going to see that new New Northern Soul film. I have now got the dvd and will have to watch from home. Got a couple of friends who took part in the filming too so will look out for them.
Got to laugh Toady my remote isn't brilliant, can't change the volume and the subtitles are stuck on too! Mind you being a bit deaf I like them and sometimes the mistakes are so funny! OH bought some cinnamon pasties but I'm not keen on them...sorry
Lovely pics Barbara. It looked very warm there. Are you planning anymore hols in the near future?
Kath I do hope your itching eases.
Joan and Sue have a lovely weekend. Hope Bubbles is not too busy and Applerose enjoys those last few days with her family. Didn't she get double booked with relatives wanting to stay?
All the best, keep warm, pleased to say OH is working hard today clearing the garden.

Hello all, hope everybody is well and that nobody suffered from the strong winds yesterday - outside I mean. We had nothing damaged or blown away here thank goodness.
Methotrexate is supposed to arrive tomorrow, so I will use one tomorrow night. Just a bit sore around the Kath craters on my back and hips, but no actually itching - I love antibacterial gel. I still use my Doublebase gel at night, which makes my skin (the unblemished bits) feel like silk. I had a blood test today in preparation for my appointment on Monday with my rheumy nurse. I'm hoping the numbers aren't so high as far as LFT, CCP and RF are concerned. She is supposed to be reducing my Pred to 20mg then too.
Lovely photos Barbara. I clicked and looked at the larger versions.
Will just help myself to some of Toady's pastries and a mug of coffee.Cheers Toady. xx
