oh Christine, what a time, mum's house was rented, so we had to clear that out, which was very odd in its own right. Emptying a house when your loved one is still with us, really saddened me, but, we knew it was the right thing to do and mum's care was paramount. I hope things are as calm as possible, I will do pocket duties and bring cake.

Best to you too Toady, reading back sometimes gets me in a muddle.

Rest well, take care XXXX Bubbles

Hello Barbara, Bubbles, mig, toady, Christine, Joan, Elizabeth, Toni, hope I've not forgotten anyone. Hope all are having a goodish day.

Bubbles, many happy returns. Hope you're having a good day. :D

Barbara, Chris (OH) is feeling much better today and we made it to my appointment. My blood test results are pretty normal except the LFT is a little high, but lower than the last one was. Gone down from 71 to 52. Vasculitis is gradually getting under control so Pred has been reduced from 30mg daily to 20mg daily for 2 weeks, then 15mg daily until my next appointment in December. I have to have a blood test every two weeks while they monitor my LFT, and if it doesn't become stable I might have to come off MTX for something else. So hope it does settle down to a reasonable level. Blood pressure also slightly raised as you would expect on Pred, but I'm also on Leflunomide which has the same effect. But all in all, things are beginning to look up.

Elizabeth, no problems so far with MTX. Someone suggested I chose my own saying for that. so I've picked "my mate methotrexate" I might change it for the signature on here.

Thank you Toady but no need to apologise. You didn't know the situation. Thanks for leaving the kettle for me. I needed it.

Bubbles, it is very strange as you say. Didn't feel right at all. Thank you for being in my pocket and for the cake. Was it birthday cake? Just noticed it was your birthday. Hope you've had a lovely day.

Barbara, it is awful going through personal things. Doesn't feel right at all. Your wedding dress with red paint on. bet it looked brilliant for Halloween. Hope you are ok.

Kath, hope the LFT comes down ok. Fortnightly bloods are a pain but necessary.

Joan, poor Sue. Hope they have given her plenty of painkillers. Let us know how she gets on. Hope you are all ok.

Elizabeth, I had one sister, 2 aunts and 2 cousins here the night the clocks changed. You should have heard them trying to decide which way they should go and what time it was now and would be the next day. Sounds as if you're having brother trouble too. Family.

Well it wasn't too bad today. Everyone was civil and we even managed a half a couple of laughs although while my brother gave me a lift home, he told me he had overheard one of my sisters saying I was 'really getting on her nerves.' Oh well, at least we got a great deal done. My sister now has to try to sell a few things and take the rest to a charity shop.

I went for my GP appointment today. Didn't know what it was for exactly, only that the receptionist had said there had been a letter from the hospital and something about new meds. The GP checked through my notes and found a letter from October 2013 that had been stamped as October 2014 so had been flagged to be actioned. So I didn't need to go. I took the opportunity to get a prescription for eye drops for my blepheritis so not altogether a waste of time.

Morning everyone,Well it's my uncles funeral this morning ,it's over two weeks since he died it does seem a long time but family have had to come a long way .
This cold has been hanging on a long time ,I surpose that's one of the drawbacks of the drugs we take.

Applerose, If your Dad goes into a home the council will probably be looking at his bank accounts and savings and they will see how much money has gone for themselves and want to know how it was spent. As your sister has permission to run the account on your Dad's behalf she will have to do all the explaining. It is called deprivation of capital to prevent people spending savings, inheritance in order to qualify for benefits.

It should all come out in the wash.

Okay first wishing Mig strength for the funeral of her Uncle.

Sorry I missed your birthday Bubbles. Glad you are now living in a nice quiet home after living next to noisy people and squatters. That is my aim and have been looking but the children are still at school and I should wait a few more years. However every year we stay at a farmhouse and the adjoining property is up for sale and within our price range! It is such a quiet lane yet a short drive from shops, beach and family.

Poor sue! That is a nasty accident. I assume she is still in hospital?

Hi Kath glad OH is on the mend and you got sorted at the hospital appointment. Pretty sure my rheummy was going to put me on leflunomide but as I had high blood pressure she said she couldn't.

The only name I had for MTX was poison. Yours is much more positive.

Have you still got the wedding dress covered in red paint Barbara! Maybe they can use it again. Lucy wants to visit a friend on Halloween, allegedly to bake cakes, but I've asked her not to go knocking on people's doors. I hate it and feel for all those older people frightenend and intimidated.

I had a look at I'm a celebrity page and all sorts of names were coming up so its all rumours at this point! Tom Daly was one.

Right had a scary moment last night. Stopped upstairs to watch a bit of TV and when I came back into the k****en where my Son sits on his laptop I could smell burning and plastic smell! Turns out he had the spin dryer on and has burnt the motor out! Think parts are on 5 year guarantee but it will still need fixing or replacing! Only had it a year.

I had to tell him off but later he said to me I've made you some pictures to make you happy. Feeling guilty now but he has to know about the dangers.

Hello Barbara, bubbles, mig, toady, toni, Elizabeth, Joan, Christine, hope all are good today. It's been gorgeous here, but is clouding over now.

Mig, I hope the funeral goes smoothly. You seem to have had more than your fair share of bereavement recently. :(

Elizabeth, like you I hate Halloween, but I think the scare you had would be difficult to recover from :o how sweet of your son to give you pictures to make you happy though.

Joan, so sorry to hear of Sue's accident. That must have been so painful for both of you.

Christine, glad your 'appointment' turned out to be their error  but as you managed to get eyedrops, it wasn't an entirely waste of a journey.

Barbara, yes I was glad we got to my appointment. He is continuing to improve. I had an oncology appointment today, Derbyshire Patient Transport took me so went on my own. Oncologist has signed me off, so that's two 'ologists I'm free of now, her and the Dermatologist. However, the transport didn't pick me up to take me home. :x So I rang my eldest son on the off chance. He was home, as he doesn't start his new job until Monday. He fetched me, took me to his for a hug and a short chat with DIL and GD, then took me home. They are off for a few days at the Gr**d Hotel, Scarborough.

His new job is as Operations Manager for an engineering firm. It's basically what he has been doing for 11 years anyway, so he's very experienced. It's about a 5 minutes drive from where he lives. My grandson Oakley has started his apprenticeship in IT at a local school. My granddaughter Willow is loving her college course. She is doing an independence course for young people with learning difficulties. She enjoys craftwork, and I'm sure she will enjoy cookery, especially as her mum can show her things at home. Although she is 16, she is about 12-13 and will remain that way now.

    I'm seething-permission to scream please!

I asked OH to weed the front border to allow light to get to my Sedum Autumn joy. they were getting straggly as the weeds kept growing around them and cutting out the light. So OH decided they needed a trim right down to the roots! there were 3 well established plants and had some time left to flower.I was upset last year because he did the same thing-seems he didn't learn last time. I am so ANGRY.

Glad everything went well this morning Mig. Hope your cold doesn't hang around much longer. (((hugs)))

Joan, Hope Sue isn't in too much pain. Hope you are ok too.

Thanks for that info Elizabeth. Dad is paying for the care home himself so not sure if that applies. Would the children have to move schools if you bought the house next to the farm? Would they suffer much if they moved schools? My parents moved every 6 years or so. Oh no, hope you can get the spin drier fixed quickly. You'll be needing it in this weather. I'd be very upset if someone cut my plants back like that. Hope they survive.

Good news you've been signed off Kath. It's bad that your transport didn't turn up. Just as well your son could pick you up. Hope your son, grandson and granddaughter all enjoy their new posts.

Barbara, we keep our wedding dresses for years and years hidden in a wardrobe. Only sentiment really. I think it was a brilliant idea to do what you did with yours. Just reminded me that mum had told me mine was still in their wardrobe only a few years ago. Wasn't there while we were sorting the house out. Wonder where it went. Not that I'm bothered. it had gone rather yellow and I'd never wear it again.

Went to T*sc* this afternoon and was good. Only bought a few things and left the heavy things for an online shop. Did anyone take part in the Breakthrough Breast Cancer research? About 8 years ago, I filled in an in depth questionnaire about my health and my family's health. Also gave a blood sample. Every now and again, they either send out another questionnaire or ask me to go to my GP to give another blood sample. The idea is that they will use this information to try to find out the causes of breast cancer. A couple of days ago, I was sent a tag to wear round my wrist. It is recording all my movements so they can see how much exercise I am getting.

Hello everyone, hope all are well-ish. Not been very sunny today, thick clouds, a bit of drizzle and a cold wind. But I hear it's supposed to improve over the next few days.

New neighbours have finally moved in. A young couple, they must have at least one small child as there is a swing and paddling pool in the back yard. But we haven't heard a child at all - unlike the dog - which is a Japanese Akita. Very loud, deep bark. Haven't seen it yet though. Last neighbours had a Doberman and yet the back yard is tiny, so I hope they take it for good long walks. :?

Hi all. Certainly was not very sunny :? hardly a speck of light to see by today. Clocks altering doesn't help of course. Re everyone's clock stories, none of mine reset themselves except comp & I have just put new batteries in my many odd watches so serve me right. I always keep the lounge clock unchanged until for as long as I can stretch it out, as it's so nice to look up, check the time - and then think 'ah, no it's not that bad'.

Busy in here since my last so I will stick to edited highlights. Glad you have got shot of some ologists Kath :) and the flu-ey OH is improving. As TK says, that is a much more positive mtx sig than mine would be. But I'm a glass three quarters empty person & clearly you are made of better stuff. Hope the neighbours + kid + dog turn out ok. :?

TK hope you are doing ok & no more domestic scares. I love the sound of the neighbouring-onto-farmhouse property. Especially the quiet yet accessible side of things. Glad party night next door turned out alright for you. I haven't seen the exact date for I'm a Celeb, only coming soon, and the list of mooted contestants hasn't been thrilling so far, we'll see.

So sorry to read of Sue's accident joan :( and I hope things went well with seeing the physio today for her. I am very independent too but it has its downside, I wish it was easier but of course it isn't when unwell. Hope the next few days will be manageable for you. xx

Hope you are getting through the house-sorting applerose, I have not had to sort through a living relative's things it must have its own difficulties. Sounds as though things are going ok between you all as a family but a little fragile & tense in places. Glad you ticked off the GP appointment & solved the question mark over it.

Barbara is busy doing spooky things with cakes and costumes I see. Hope your GD's have fun and rain doesn't get in the way. Will fireworks be involved as everyone has them willynilly these days regardless of halloween & bonfire night dates. Or is it strictly a proper indoors thing.

Glad to see mig is deterring kiddies with her trick or treat offerings. If only a banana or two would work to keep the little dears away all year long. (scrooge). Would love to see your WWI pics when you can. I was just watching a repeat of Who Do You Think You Are this pm with Patrick Stewart, with really very emotional tales of his father's WWII experiences. V sad viewing. :( My one grandfather was in the artillery corps (WWI).

Have found a suitable little heater for spare room etc, always seems to be the case that am**on heater reviews for the same item range from 'I'd safely leave my 90 year old granny with it on her own' to 'This heater is a poor quality melty dangerous deathtrap!', so I'll have to take my chances with my chosen purchase.

Wishing bubbles well with the continued diet & weight loss, and love to anyone else reading at the moment.. off for an overdue cup of tea, should anyone passing. :)

Bought myself a scanner as had a request for old pics of a club I used to belong to- they are supposed to be easy to use but I'm struggling! They go onto pc okay but the ones I want to rotate won't do so. My son might be able to help- when he wakes up!

Applerose I expect your Dad's having to fund his care costs from pension and savings but the council will usually want to check a new claim and they like to make sure people haven't dissipated large amounts in order to receive more help with these costs. Your sister might have to justify any large amounts showing on these accounts and they might then look back even further. Hopefully it want impact on your Dad.

It is cold here too Toady.
