Good girl Coco for resting. I'd be up and about. Can't sit still for more than 5 minutes or I get agitated.
Mig, grey here too but very mild. Hope you OH found his chocolate.
Joan, my knee hasn't been too bad today thankfully. Mango has been fine today. Hope you and Sue are ok.
Barbara, it's been very mild here today too. I had to hide Mango's new bed last night but brought it down tonight and he's been fine with it. Hasn't got in but sniffed at it. My knee has only niggled a little. Think I've overspent on the GC too. Ooops!
Kath, I've been careful today but my knee hasn't been too bad. I think people fly tip because they think the council should take things away for free. They make such a mess of the place though, don't they?
Been trying to get hold of C*rrys since Friday. Keep getting the engaged sound but today finally got through after holding for 10 minutes just for the woman to keep asking if anyone was there. She couldn't hear me so hung up. The woman in the shop said they would send someone out to plumb in my washer if I get the leak fixed but I need to arrange it over the phone as I bought it online. I've emailed a few times too. No reply. :roll:Christine0 -
Hello everyone, hope all are as good as they can be.
I know what you mean Christine, but our council will take away up to six items at a time for free, you can have all six taken on the one occasion, or split it between 2 collections of 3 items. Any more and you have to pay. But our car park seems to be a popular spot, because it isn't overlooked by any buildings. The flats are side on to it, so nobody fly tipping would be seen.
Rant over. :x"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Afternoon all
Not a clue were this morning went..
I thought the Christmas smiles would be on now.. :?
Kath we get a lot of fly tipping we have a rd that goes nowhere yet till they build some new house and there is stuff everywhere... like you say the council will pick stuff up if you ring them..
Christine glad the knee isn't to bad, don't we all over spend on our GC...I forget what I have bought and when I got them out out to wrap
I bet mango loves his bed...hes a very lucky doggy..
It is sunny here today but freezing...its by far the coldest day yet...I bought myself one of the wooly scarves that's a circle and you just wrap it twice over your head..saves it blowing around in the wind and so warm..now I need some gloves...
will put the kettle on ..and sit in the window to have a ponder..hope that Toady is getting there..xxxxxLove

Been to hairdressers this morning and boy was it cold, put heating on, its on the timer so its warm when daughter is getting ready for work and in the evening as we like our showers(separately ) in the evening but had to override it .daughter and i are off to see Alfie Boe tomorrow evening and we decided to have a turkish meal beforehand which is a new one for me.
Our council will pick up stuff when you call them but they too have a load limit. Mig0 -
Mig you have a lovely time tomorrow I am really jealous...its freezing here..think its winter...Love
Barbara0 -
Kath, there's no excuse in your area then. Our council charge £15 for up to 3 smallish things but more for larger things.
Barbara, there's a thread somewhere in here where people are testing out Cosgan Xmas smilies. I've decided to keep a couple of things back for the baby's birthday as I've bought her more than the others. It's either that or I go out and buy them all more. Don't think Mango does like his bed. He has sniffed at it but got annoyed with me when I tried to put him in it. Oh well, you never know. He might get in when he's more used to it being there. Freezing here too. I bought a lovely one of those scarves too. Lovely and cosy.
Mig, happy haircut. I grow mine a bit in winter to keep my neck warm. I've never had a Turkish meal so will look forward to hearing what your meal is like. Hope you enjoy Alfie.
Just spoken to my daughter and my GC. They had just got up and were about to pack (although things hadn't really been unpacked as they've been in a hotel for a while) and take things to the house. They've got beds each, a cooker and found a fridge and freezer in the shed. The kids have been asking where they can sit. I said there will be plenty of floor space. My daughter has told them to use the car seats for now. My son-in-law spent his first day in his new job in the office. The second day was off site then a few beers after work. These type of jobs always seem to require lots of 'team building'.Christine0 -
Morning everyone
Sorry to be so awol
General conversation about council collecting rubbish. Here they put skips on the roads (council houses only though) every year and anyone can chuck anything in the skip they like
The next village down they have to pay £10 for them to fetch up to 3 items
Will get back on soon I hope taking Lucy and Charley into the bullring so they can do their Christmas shopping
Love

Hello everybody.. still here.. hanging on by the skin of my teeth
not too bad touch wood but watching myself like a hawk (hypochondria..) as can't really tell yet if things are going to go one way or another. Ah well, this & next week got to sort myself out a bit, wash hair/book bloods/have grocery shop/boiler service man is coming. Enough said. :? Meant to thank mig for her kind offer of a xmas-anti-flare potion, very much appreciated.
Also enjoyed the 'lessons for the day' v much and I want to know what was behind little door no 3 please.
Thank you for the xmas stocking and the cheery goings-on barbara, I like the thought of you doing all your wrapping of little things for family, no, money isn't really the same.
Nice and warm in here. Did have some sunshine today, very welcome.
Hope coco is (or has) coped ok with the Bournemouth 'run'.
Applerose hope mango is ok, he probably thinks his bed smells too new & strange.. can you put something more familiar in it that he's already been around (you've probably tried that, just thinking aloud really). I have had some very nice books this week from am**on sellers in lovely condition so makes up a bit for the 'missing' ones.
Frog that skip arrangement is a very sensiblescheme, well done council! I have a friend who also says that they gave up paying for the council, as if they put the stuff outside it would be gone before they could pick it up.. embarrassing and expensive.. depends on your area I guess. :? Give my love to the bullring, hope it goes well (or went well, if you're back & it was today) & you all have lovely shopping.
Sorry you lost a post joan. Nice to see you, hope things are as well as can be with you both.
No TK since the 27th? Hope everything's ok.
Will be in & out, sorry if I've missed something/someone.. may have some xmassy food tomorrow for the cupboards.. if I start breaking into any carols I'll keep it down to a suitable level for Kath's new 'superpower' hearing range.
Keep warm all xxx0 -
Evening all. Hope everyone is doing ok.just got back from Bournemouth. Im shattered and hurting but glad to be home. Daughter said it went ok. Dont like the place much though. Plymouth in two weeks time. Going to curl up and rest now. Take care all xxx0

It's looking very Christmassy in here. Thank you Barbara and Kath. Wonder what's in my stocking.
Toni, don't be worrying about coming in here. We know how busy you are. Hope Lucy and Charley enjoyed their shopping trip.
Barbara, I'm sure my daughter will get sorted soon. Mango isn't allowed on my bed although he has jumped up a few times. He has just tried to drag his own bed across the floor.Did you get to the garden centre? Shame to miss out on a free cake.
Oh poor Mig's OH forgetting about his advent calendar. The men are as bad as the kids.
Joan, don't worry about your missing post. I think it's happened to all of us. I know I've lost the odd one here and there.
Hi Toady. Glad you're not so bad now and that things continue to improve. Sounds as if you are going to be busy. yes, I think Mango's bed is too new. I only have his toys so have put them in. Wish my daughter had brought his blanket but never mind, he did try to pick it up and pull it. Didn't quite manage it though.
Coco, feet up again. Hope you're ready for Plymouth. That's where my daughter went and she liked it.
Finally had a phone call from C*rrys saying they will refund the money I paid to have my washing machine installed, even though I asked if I could rearrange the installation for after I have the leak fixed. They couldn't help with that but gave me the installer's number. They said they will definitely come out once the leak is fixed. Now to actually get a plumber to do the job.Christine0 -
Had a fantastic meal last night ,had knuckle of lamb in a tomato based sauce with rice ,lots of nibbles for starters and then on to see Alfie ,we were only four rows from the front, great evening.Got hubbys tea ready before i went out so he only had to bing it.
On sunday we are going up to scotland on a turkey and tinsel coach break,we will be staying near loch lomond. Will be back on thursday.Mig0 -
Hello Toady Christine Mig Coco and anyone else who's in.

mig, glad you got a good view of Alfie. Tinsel and turkey near Loch Lomond, how lovely.
Toady, glad you are ok, my ears have adjusted now, so sing as loud as you can. Then I can join in and nobody will hear my caterwauling.
Hope any absentees are ok and not suffering."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Hello all. I hope you are all well.
Lucy went to see War horse in London but there was a technical hitch so the show was cancelled :x very disappointing!
Not a lot happening here,I'm alternating between sleep and online shopping.
I'm very pleased to see you have been refunded Christine and rightly so. Did you notice a leak beforehand? Hope its not too expensive to fit but a plumber could do it all in one go so you don't get charged 2 call out fees.
Hi Coco hope you have had time to recover. Doesn't your other D. go to Plymouth? you make sure you leave the housework won't you?
Fraid I do the money as my N&N's are all over 20 now so they like to buy clothes and the grand N&N's their parents can buy something from money I send. I don't live near so don't know what they want. A couple earn a lot but I cannot leave some out for that reason. And my big girls can barely survive paying the high rental costs demanded nowadays so money helps them. But I'm going to buy small gifts for the children and maybe a surprise i pad.
Got Charlotte's birthday coming up on friday and tradition demands the decs and tree go up after her b'day.
Toady I can only hope that flare subsides. You have got a busy week and thanks for the reminder- I need a blood test too.
Can't find my paperwork needed for the blue badge now- I think there is an elf pinching things!
Must laugh at Mr Mig! did he think you'd eat it while he was out?
Hope you had a great shopping trip Toni. Do the girls race off and leave you? Gosh its been years since I went shopping. Last time was in Brighton where I bought far too much to carry-my Daughter's boyfriend was lugging it all on my behalf poor guy. First time we'd met too
Right popping off now, wave to Joan.

apologies Barbara. Are you going to cancel that Christmas Eve appointment. I had one on the 27th one year but had to cancel as I knew I'd be recovering. Won't be drinkinh this year as it really makes me ill now. We put the Baileys in the bread and butter pudding instead!
Take care

Glad you enjoyed your evening Mig. Sounds as if you got a great seat. Hope you have a lovely time on Sunday.
Hello Joan. Hope it's not too cold where you are.
Glad your ears are back to normal Kath. La la la la la.
Barbara, an appointment on Xmas Eve? I like to keep that day clear in case I've forgotten anything. Although I always think it's not the end of the world if I do forget.
Elizabeth, how disappointing for Lucy. Did she actually travel to the show before finding out it was cancelled? I've got one plumber quite a distance away offering a quote but I've contacted a local one. Just waiting to hear from him. I'm still hoping C*rrys will plumb the washing machine in as they will take the old one out and take it away. Not sure how much the plumber will charge for all that. Much more than C*rrys £20 I would think. Haven't got the refund yet as I asked them to come back out again. I think it's only right to wait till after birthdays before starting Xmas. Hope she has a lovely day. Baileys bread and butter pudding? Yummy.
My boss's wife asked if I'd noticed that they had been tidying things away. There are usually things all over the place. She said they thought they should do it or I'd start telling them off.Mango has tonight tried to kill his new bed. He grabbed it and started shaking it.
Christine0 -
Morning all
Elizabeth ..its the same here I cant have a drink anymore..not even a little onefunny enough I said to my OH I might just get a little bottle of baileys and try that...but changed my mind..
Christine I think you are right about Mango not liking the bed...hope you can get that plumber sorted and get your old washer out the way..we just put ours on the drive and they are picked up by the scrap men..
we don't have our tree up yet..its one of those that you have to push each branch in ..and they are all colour coded. .so my GDs usually do it but think it will be down to me and OH..unless I see them this weekend..
think they have mentioned snow for today...I am dreading that with crutches..will light the fire and put the kettle on...xxxxLove
Barbara0 -
Wonder where everyone is. Hope you are all well and just getting ready for Xmas.
I've been hoping we don't get snow Barbara. Not surprised you are worried. I have the same sort of tree. Takes a while to sort it out. Ald* are selling real trees for £20. Had a look today but not what I want. Think I'll stick with my unreal one. The plumbers haven't got back to me so I phoned one tonight and asked for a rough idea of how much it will be to fix the leak. he said the part would be £30 and labour £20 but they were very busy and can only come between 9 and 5 and there has to be someone in the house. Don't think he was keen on doing it. I looked the part up on the internet and it was £1.25 plus postage. Looked at the W*lk*ns*n's site and they sell them for £2.99. So the plumber was actually charging £47 for a 20 minute job. Just wish I had the strength to unscrew the old part and tighten the new one.
Got a quick message from my son-in-law. The kids were sitting very quietly in the garden so he went to check on them. They had dragged a step to the work counter and got their advent calendars down, taken them in to the garden and eaten all the chocolates.Christine0 -
morning all
Christine..that is awful what the plumber charging you..hubby says if its the on off valve fitted it should be around £20..accounting for the time and fuel...so hopefully you can get someone else to do it..pity we are not nearer..fancy your GC getting the advent calenders I love it...and sat in the garden at this time of the year
think I will emigrate...
I am organized ..well sort off this year mind you with plenty of time on my hands there is no excuse...it is very still and dark here..no snow yesterday but we had hail...
We are off to post cards I have to go or OH will put them in the wrong houses he can do the walking up the path bit...Love
