Hope all are wrapped up warm today, and feeling as well as you can.
Thought you might like some carol singers.
Joan, I hesitate to drink too, but as I don't really enjoy alcohol I don't mind. I do usually have either a small sherry or glass of wine on Xmas day, but it's on a Thursday this year, my MTX day. If I'm offered one, I'll have it, but that's all. :?
Barbara, according to one of the newspapers (Daily Ex) it's supposed to snow in the north west by Friday. Glad I don't live over that way.
Christine, I hope none of your G/C didn't have tummy ache after all that chocolate.
Elizabeth, such a shame that Lucy didn't get to see War Horse.
I treated us to some lovely new bedding from T***o this morning. OH said we're not allowed to sleep in bed now. It's a bit like that advert where the man sits on the kitchen floor admiring it, his wife comes in to make a coffee and he says: "You're not going to use that, are you?""Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Brrrr...temp has dropped bigtime.
Yes Lucy got all the way to the theatre, then had to hang around before they finally announced warhorse was cancelled due to leaking oil. Elf and safety I'm afraid. She's off to the panto this evening.
It seems Charlie won a 6ft Christmas tree! how and what it looks like I'm yet to be told. Think she went out with friends for her birthday. 'm now offically thinking about Christmas.I've ordered some flowers.
Nice to see Carol singers Kath. Hark the herald Angels sing would be nice to hear.
Can't even tolerate a sip of baileys now, especially since taking the blood pressure pills.
I just bought some red checked brushed bedding Kath and its cosy material and brightens up the room.
I do like snow but not keen on going out in it but I love to see the children's faces.
What a saga Christine! it should be all done and dusted for just £20. He could have still taken the old one away if you'd wanted.
Got to potter off as this laptop curser is jumping.
We will get our tree next week. We always have a live one. I still have scooter mess in my lounge and OH is under orders to move it this weekend!
Take care all

Evening all im back in the land of the living after my treck to Bournemouth last week. Got bristol this Wednesday so not quite as far then Plymouth the week after. Hopefully she will get offers from some of the universities and will be happy. It would be great if Plymouth offered her a place as her younger sister is there.
Hope you are all okay and coping with this cold. Take care xxx0 -
Barbara, I thought about £20 was reasonable. Couldn't believe he said the £2.99 part was £30. Won't be using him at all. You had hail? Eek. I'm the same, shop till I drop on Xmas Eve.
Joan, Baileys in coffee is supposed to be very nice. Hot coffee makes me feel ill but I might try it in iced coffee.
Kath, nice to see the carol singers. Our town Xmas tree lights are being switched on tomorrow so we'll all be singing carols. Glad I'm not in the north-west with snow on it's way. So are you sleeping on the floor tonight?
Elizabeth, well done to Charlie for winning the tree. Hope she had a good birthday and that Lucy enjoyed the panto. I always say now that I don't want snow but I used to love sledging and snowball fighting with the kids. I'm planning on contacting a plumber I used to know to see if he'll put the new part on the water pipe. Haven't spoken to him for quite a few years so feel a bit cheeky. Happy tree hunting.
Mig, have a great time up there. I'm sure it'll be wonderful. Don't worry if you can't pop in. We'll look forward to hearing about it when you get back.
Coco, glad you've recovered. More travelling though. Fingers and toes crossed for Plymouth.
Went in to town to get the last thing for my GS and they didn't have any left. They've reserved it for me in the next town so I'll go tomorrow. Just my dad and for my daughter and her family down under.Christine0 -
Morning everyone
Christine - I don't relish being out in snow now, but like you have many happy memories of snowmen and sledging with the kids.
I am going to the antiques show at the NEC today so I can be near Lucy who will be at the Clothes show there!! Not sure about that either, but might be fun
The plumber will likely be pleased to hear from you with times being so hard ATM
Hi CocoI am sure your daughter will get offers somewhere perfect for her. Glad you've recovered from the trecking around
Barbara are you really considering a real tree? Aren't they hard work too? mind you they smell fabulousWe won't have ours up until after Lucy's birthday on Tuesday. I am not much good drinking anymore - must be all the tablets.
Mig How lovely going to Loch Lomand!! I hope you have a wonderful timeI remember many Christmases and a New Year up in Alberfeldy in Perthshire. So long as you wrap up warm and it sounds as though you will be able to with all your packing
Hello Elizabeth :)6ft tree!!! Well done Charlie!!! I am sure Lucy enjoyed the panto. My Lucy is off to the clothes show, but her neutrophils are good so fair enough.
That bedding sounds lovely - festive and cosy
Men eh? Hope OH gets the scooter mess cleared up pronto
KathT Thanks for the carol singersSanta and Rudolf are dancing to their singing
Shame we can't all get tiddly at Christmas, but we can have something in here I reckon beforehand
New bedding for you too - how lovely you enjoy it
Joan you enjoy that Baileys - my ex MIL does that too it's lovelyI hope you are as well as can be and that Sue is still doing well xxx
Toady I hope you are well :? Not like your name to be missing.
It's been a hard week for me this week - my neck is very sore and lots had to be done. Not to worry things can only get better!!!
Love Toni xxx0 -

Hello Joan, Toni, Christine, Coco, Barbara, Mig, Elizabeth and and anyone else who pops in.
Very sunny here, although we had rain overnight. It's slightly warmer at the moment too. Hope tomorrow isn't too bad as we have to catch the early bus again for my appointment with my rheumy nurse.
Joan, I hope you and Sue are ok and that the snow doesn't last long. Must make it awkward for you to get out. :?
Hope this isn't us next week.
Toni, I enjoyed watching Santa and Rudolph dancing. They have some cool moves.
Christine, no, OH relented and we slept in the bed. It was lovely.
Mig, glad to hear you've packed plenty of warm clothes. Have a good time, and enjoy the meal.
Elizabeth, the carol singers do requests, so hopefully you will hear all your favourites.Oh, red brushed bedding, very seasonal, ours are peacock, purple, pink and blue polycotton, with butterflies and flowers everywhere. Very exotic.

Hello people.. still here..
just sitting with neighbours' cat and catching up on a few things (like checking my bank balance  ). At least my boiler man (was here Thurs) is not going to bankrupt me; in fact I made him take a bit more
doesn't really charge what he is worth & was here ages. Opposite of applerose's plumber. Nice to see him as he is a really nice chap but at the same time was itching to shove him out the door by the end
terribel what illness does to your hospitality. After his visit I'm nice and tidy and of course will never get untidy again - ha ha ha ha ha!!
Anyway not doing too badly, bloods to follow, then hopefully nothing for a bit. Glad to see everyone is ok and has lots of warm fuzzy bedding. Once upon a time I had flannel sheets that didn't pill and go horrible even after a while.. either they made better sheets once or I bought better quality. Everything I buy now looks disgraceful after it's been on once or twice - it's too brushed up to begin with & just goes awful. :?
I have some nice assorted individual fruit pies and will warm them up on request, only 6 mins in the mini oven which as it doesn't need pre-heating saves so much time over a big oven.
Nice to see coco, glad all went well & good luck for Plymouth - used to live there for a year or two - nice but a long way from anywhere else I suppose! - depending on trains these days etc.
I think I wished frog & Lucy had had a lovely day out before they'd even been, sorry. I'm doing ok, by the way (I think) thanks for asking, just lying low while I see which way the wind is blowing as they say.Necks, ugh! Can hardly move mine an inch lol. Silly things!
Mig is taking the high road (or maybe the low road) anyway hope all goes well - make sure OH packs his advent calendar! I am here opening one with 'Juan' on it from a certain kitchen roll manufacturer, with daily suggestions what to do with it - Day 5, dry a wet dog off. It's amusing me by its sheer bizarre and (surely) sacrilegious-ness, there is truly nothing people won't do to sell something.
Sorry about Lucy and Warhorse TKwhat a shame. Hope the panto is ok! Definitely is cold here, frost this morning. Sunny today though, nice to see. Glad you are having a live tree, so nice! I always say I will get a small one & never do. Still, I have a 20-odd foot one in the garden I once planted from being an indoor one, will have to hang something off that.
Like the carol singers Kath. As it looks like no-one much can drink, at least we all have a shot at remembering the words when it comes to some cafe carol murdering.
Keep warm,0 -
afternoon all..it will be when I finish this post...
Toady good to see you ..cats are comforting..we had 2fromnext door in yesterday they are real bruisers...they head but my feet..not good with a bad hip
Your boiler man sounds like my OH he like a chat..and always blames the lady's or men for keeping him there..glad he did it at a good price for you..
its an awful day here rain, hail, wind you name it... so I will stoke the fire up..mince pies in the tin...and extra thick cream...does anyone know were I can but a tiny bottle of bailey..going to try it in coffee like Joan does.....hope you all have a goodish day xxx

Ha ha Toni. Love the twerking Santa and Rudolph. How is your neck now? Did you all enjoy the Clothes/Antiques shows?
Joan, hope you and Sue are doing well. Hope you don't get snow with it making things difficult with the scooters. It's good though that you can hire them in town.
Kath, I heard snow was on it's way. Hope we don't need your little man to dig us back out.
Barbara, I changed my mind about the cricket bat I reserved. I got a control for my GS's game consul instead. I think he'll get more use out of that. I haven't got my tree up yet. It is upstairs still in it's box. Hoping to put it up sometime this week. Hope my lights work as it will be next weekend before I can get new ones. If you go to the Baileys website, you can sometimes order a tiny sample bottle. I've had a few.
Toady, glad you're doing better now. I keep forgetting to check my bank account, sometimes for over a month. Don't suppose you could send your boiler man here could you?Oh, could I have a fruit pie, an apple one if there's one left please? Mmmm, lovely.
Love what they've done with Ellie Gouldings dress on the Royal Variety Performance. Looks fantastic. And I like Ellie's singing.
I had a free trip on the train to and from one of our towns yesterday. No-one on either to take the fares. The first train was a disgrace. Empty crisp packets and beer cans all over the place. Looked like they had had a party. Guess people took advantage with there being no conductor. Only just got back to my front door when my sister phoned. She'd had a call from dad's care home saying he was very upset and wanted to go home. We rushed up there to find him sitting in a chair outside his room with his coat and hat on just staring at the floor. He was very distressed. Apparently one of the carers had gone in to his room in the early hours to check on him and scared the life out of him. Then that afternoon, he told them he was going out for a walk and they wouldn't let him. We managed to settle him down again and he was ok later too. Guess this is going to happen every now and again.Christine0 -
Morning all sat waiting for breakfast to be served ,the hotel is great as are the people, snow on the mountains looks beautiful, going to a whiskey distillery and Sterling castle today Xmas dinner tonite with a visit from Santa.
There are several young men working at the hotel who are wearing kilts they look brilliant ( sigh) .
Well there goes the bell ,cheers all. Mig
Wifi is very hit and miss here.0 -
Morning all
Joan hope the snow stays away for you..then you can get out and about
Christine thanks I never thought they would have a website what good thinking..glad you have your GS present done and dusted..I do feel for you its awful to see our parents distressed...so glad to see you could settle him and I hope he is happier...less stress for you..the trains are suppose to be cleaned between so many stations but my GD has said the same they are full of rubbish  glad you got it free though..
Mig its lovely to hear from you..how lovely the mountains sound there is nothing nicer then when they are snow capped..glad you are enjoying the hotel and have a whiskey on me...
Hope that Toni and Lucy had a good time yesterday and Happy Birthday to Lucy only sorry she has to be in hospital xx
Dark here this morning..going out for a Christmas dinner with my niece..something we always enjoy...hope you all have a goodish day will see you later..xxxx

The tree has been purchased but is still in the car so I have no idea what it is like. OH still has a scooter in the lounge-now past its deadline to be out of the house!
I have, at last, found my paperwork for blue badge so can submit the missing required documents.
Now I need to focus on sending money to my Daughters and my N&N's which requires finding addresses!
I'm not sleeping well, despite the comfy bedding. My hip and ankle are painful so getting things done are much more difficult. I sat down and hoovered the rug with a lightweight hoover.
Can't even manage a sample bottle of Baileys yet bought quite a bit of alcohol-hoping visitors will drink it all because daren't.
I check my bank account often but seem to be getting a strange payment. My oldest Son's DLA stopped (he's much more capable nowadays so we stopped claiming) so wonder if they are still paying by mistake. Paper bank statements take an age to arrive.
I'm not good with visitors Toady. In fact 2 very old male friends popped round but I stayed upstairs. I hate people to see me in pain and on crutches and no nice clothes etc so I hid away. but did chat to my female friend on Sat morning, catching up on the gossip.
I am looking forward to watching missing tonight. It is very gripping and 2 episodes left.
Christmas is wearing me out now and resulting in arguements so I'm going to stop thinking about it and take a back seat.
Take care all, thanks for the fruit pies,

Mig it sounds lovely. Did you get a present from Santa? Kilts do look very smart, don't they? My son-in-law wears his whenever there is a special occasion or a party. And yes, he wears it properly.
Barbara, hope you enjoyed your Christmas dinner with your niece.
Joan, I bet Sue will be so relieved when Friday comes.
Elizabeth, I think that scooter needs to go. You need the room for the Xmas tree. Hope it's a good one. Glad you found the paperwork. I know there's a lot to do at this time of year but take it easy with your painful hip and ankle. It's not the end of the world if some things don't get done.
Just done an online order from T*sc*. My son-in-law thought he had left me enough dog food to last till after Xmas but Mango is eating much more than normal so I've only got enough to last till Sunday so half my order is for dog food.Christine0 -
Oh glad you kept a eye on Mango's supplies. It was food shopping that has made my ankle lock up and it is really difficult to get things ready for school in the mornings in time. Also Parcels are due and I am taking ages to stand up and get to the door!
I'm making up a parcel for salvation army so passing on the still tagged clothing and 2 pairs of unworn shoes-now too small for my children. I just hope they go to the right home. I'm always worried someone not in need will get them though.
Oh has just gone to do my blue badge and he gets quite stressed (not normally his fault as the council workers don't make things easy and can look own their nose) and usually ends up in an arguement with them.
I'm so tired and was hoping to go back to bed but parcels and OH might ring so think I'll sit and have a cuppa.
Take care all

Hello all
Been to sit with the baby this morning she is poorly and mum had to go out..the little thing has had a bad chest since she was born and was in hospital at 2 weeks old
Elizabeth you do sound tired ..I hope you can get some naps in..this time of the year can be so hard , I am the same with visitors I don't mind my close family but dread people just turning up :xmas_eek: its nice to help the salvation army a few of my relatives were in it..
Christine..glad you got mango more food..he is onto a winner there  and you have sorted your GS present so that is one thing out the way...now your tree shell we all come round and help
Joan..that is brilliant news about Sue having her plaster off ..suppose she will have to be careful
I only have some food to get now..not a clue how I manged when working...
hope that everyone doing okish xxxxxxLove

Hello everyone, sorry I've been missing for a few days. Hope all are well.
Went for my rheumy nurse appointment on Monday morning, I was expecting it to last about an hour, but she's not happy with my rash and the fact that I'm itching again. ! She fetched my consultant to look and she immediately packed me off to the day case room - they had a few vacancies. For another 1 gram Methylpred infusion :xmas_mad: . They had problems getting the cannula in, it took one and a half hours and 6 cannulas to get it right, 6 veins popped. Infusion didn't get started until 11.45am, finished at about 12.30 and we didn't get home until almost 3pm. They bandaged the cannula in place as I had to go back for another 1 gram on Tuesday. Returned the next day, cannula was flushed, but very painful and vein began to bulge, so they had to take it out and get another one in. Thankfully an HSO came and did it first time. Infusion started at 9.10, finished at 10.45, home by 12ish with fish and chips. Thankfully I don't have to go back for a 3rd one this time. Next appointment should be in January. Pred tablets reduced to 10mg. Liver function still high, so it's a watch and wait situation. Flippin' Vasculitis. Also got a flare in the knuckles, wrist and elbow on the right side. :xmas_sad: Sorry to be such a misery today. Was hoping for better news for you. Will cheer myself up with some hot buttered toast and a cuppa, and a sing song from the carol singer santas and Rudolph.

Elizabeth, Mango has enough food for the next 3 weeks now so that's one more thing ticked off my to do list. I'm sure the Salvation Army will make sure the clothes and shoes go to the right person. Hope your blue badge got sorted out and your parcels arrived ok. And try and get your feet up for a while, a nap would help if you can manage it.
Barbara, hope the baby recovers quickly. It's terrible watching then when they're ill. Yes please, help with my tree would be good. It's still in the box upstairs. I'm wondering how I managed when I was working and had kids to look after. Guess we always just get on with it.
Kath, what a time you've had of it. At least your next appointment isn't till after Xmas so hopefully you can enjoy Xmas.
The weather has been terrible here, howling wind and rain. Not as bad as in some areas though. It's supposed to be worse in the next few days. Mango flatly refused to go out for a walk when I got home. Very unusual but I don't blame him.Christine0 -
Morning all
Its was an awful night weather wise but we survived :xmas_eek:
kath don't worry about having a moan it will do you good..what a rotten shame things were going okish then this...I hope today is a little better after the infusion..not a nice thing to have
Christine.. thanks..Mango's not daft..it was the same here last night I thought we might lose the house.or at least the extension I sleep in :xmas_eek: I am on my way to help with the tree... :rudolph:
Niamh the baby is in hospital..they X rayed her and found some infection on one side of her lung...she cant tak properly yet but when they finished DIL said she said thankyou bye...and dil burst out crying :xmas_cry: so we are off to sit with her to give mum a break..none of the family smoke...the nurse said its one of those things her chest is her weakness..
Will see you all later..hope all that are missing are doing okish..xxxxxLove
