Hello all, did anyone have problems logging in yesterday? I kept getting an error message and couldn't do it . :xmas_evil:
mig, I love all things leek, and your soup, as all your soups, sounds delicious.
Got a bad head, keep sneezing and sinus' are troubling me again. Oddly, for a Sjogren's sufferer, my eyes keep watering. :xmas_sad: Shan't go into any more detail about how I'm feeling - it's too close to Christmas to feel ill.
First have a hot drink,
then off for a lie down and nap."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

There's a lot of sniffles about Kath. apparently the forum was down but I'm sure I had a peep yesterday.
Did someone post up the dates of the space station passing the moon? it was on here somewhere. My Son mentioned it and I'm sure he'd love to look.
I'm stumped for present ideas for the boys.... :xmas_idea: They don't do clothes,as they magically appear in their wardrobe all year round, smellies are boring to the male of the species, they don't read anymore and there are too many sweets already in the house.
I've done a bit of christmas decoration pruning and got rid of some of the tinsel to make way for the pretty antique decs. We don't put a lot of other stuff up and I find cards messy (sorry) so they go a bit of string in the hall.
Toady stay with us in spirit at least. :xmas_lol: Did you enjoy I'm a celeb. Glad foggy won and then he gets to award a trophy at the Sportsperson of the Year. So pleased to see gymnast Claudia Fragapane win the young sportsperson award as I voted for her, and congratulations to the woman's Rugby team-World champions and I had no idea!
Got my panto tickets today, for the 2nd January but still waiting for Warhorse to be rearranged.
Applerose I hope your Dad is okay and not feeling lost.
Coco it must be time for another trek to a uni? Or is it all sorted for the time being?
Take care all

Mig, it's sunny and chilly here too. I don't mind that as I can wrap up. It's the rain and wind I don't like. You've still got time for cards and pressies although I always think it's not the end of the world if things don't get done at all. Oh, I love leek and potato soup. Might need to get some leeks tomorrow now.
Barbara, we only had one reindeer here (although there were 2 mem dressed as reindeer standing outside :rudolph: ) but Santa was going through the town a few miles away so he needed most of them to pull the sleigh. Mango will be here till about May. He seems fine here but he howls when I talk to my daughter and the GC online so I think maybe he is missing them. The kids are asking for him all the time. They are even asking when they are going home to Dublin. Must think they are on holiday. It's good that Niamh is eating and drinking but still upsetting for you all that she's unwell at the moment. Hope it doesn't last much longer. You took the words out of my mouth when you said it wasn't the end of the world if the cards don't get sent.
Joan it is a hassle putting up decorations. You can always admire other people's when you're out and about. They only need to be taken back down again any way.
Kath, I don't know about any problems as I didn't get round to coming here. Hope whatever the problem was is sorted out now. No, you've not to be ill for Xmas. Shoo it away. Hope you felt better after your nap.
Elizabeth, the ISS is passing over us at 5.30pm ish this evening. Here is the tracker where you can find out when it is passing overhead. http://spotthestation.nasa.gov/sightings/#.VJBeRCusU9Y It is passing over around 5.50pm on Xmas Eve too. I think boys are so difficult to buy for. Do they play on a games consul. Maybe a game or headphones. My GS wanted those and another controller. Thanks for asking about my dad. My sister, who was his carer, sat him down and told him why he was in the home and that he probably wouldn't be going back home. She is looking for a house with a granny flat but it is doubtful if that will come off but at least it gives dad some hope. He said he understood what she told him and even said his furniture would have to be sold. We haven't told him that everything has already gone as we didn't want to upset him.
Got a call today that people were unwell at work so I had the day off. Didn't want to catch a bug. So, I have finished wrapping pressies and writing cards and got them posted. Took Mango for a walk. He was fine today as I didn't go near the park. Something there must have scared him. No idea what though. Sorted through some of a heap of papers and leaflets and done some tidying up and hoovering. So feeling good about that but tired after reading what I've done. :xmas_cheesygrin:Christine0 -
Hello folks, I am still here :xmas_cheesygrin: still amongst you, thanks TK (& all). I have been to town for a few errands (forgot one or two) and had a coffee and my first mince pie of the season.
Done a bit more xmassy doings, so it partly depends now how soon if at all post gets through - in either direction. Well done for sorting your xmas decorations TK. Must go & do my past cards & wrapping paper box which has become a bit of an old xmas archive now.I did sort of enjoy Celeb but the combination of people lacked a bit of something (and I've seen a lot of online comments it was quite boring compared to past series) - plus I could have done without the frightful 'EC'. Still there will be a CBB along anytime now.
Sorry Kath is sniffling, get well & see it off soon Kath. xx
Joan I was tempted to a little tree in town but they were sprayed heavily with white & I'd rather having it natural. They had a lovely owl made out of twiggy bits and all covered with different bird food, it was very clever (but rather pricey).
Barbara I would have loved to see a real reindeer! How nice. Will have to make do with Santa in his sleigh that comes round the street here, sadly pulled by a range rover or some such not Rudolph.
Not terribly festive in town as it was too early for lights on. Missed the bus (it drove straight by a little queue of us  ), went to find a shop worth popping in for the extra time, and realised there's a v big charity shop I'd never seen before right by the stop - it used to be some sort of office-y thing. No idea how long it's been there but it was like Narnia suddenly appearing, an ideal warm bolthole, and got some nice books.
Spent half of last evening trying to deal with an e*ay buyer who was asking a question about an item but the messages weren't showing up. In the end I had to guess that it was about whether I would send to their country & how much, and it obviously was, as they bought the item - without either of us having 'spoken' directly to each other. The messages made it through to my email hours later, but still aren't in my e*ay inbox, v odd.
Right, going to have a late tea/supper and wind down a bit, any hot drink selection of others' choice can be passed round, love toady xxx0 -
Forgot to say hello to applerose & well done too for getting stuff done. Maybe you will get another day off (not wishing any ill on anyone but if you do, you do). Poor Mango, it's a lot of upheaval for a doggy.
Hope he's ok in his little self.
I'll join the leek-eating ensemble with a qu*rn and leek pie I am trying in tomorrow's online shop. I guess I could have a soup starter but it may be going too far.
Also meant to say hello to anyone reading, hope coco, marrianne, bubbles & everyone are managing. xx0 -

Hello all, just had a plate of scones & jam so thought I'd pass some in. Yes I know that's not lunch but breakfast wasn't exactly at breakfast time. 2 is the new elevenses. :xmas_cheesygrin: Barbara may be too full of cake.
Hope you are having a jolly time with your niece. My e*ay parcel has gone off to South America, half of the fun of selling now & then is the interesting customers, I find; have had some great people & places to send to. Hope your little GD is doing alright today. xx
Postman has been but half hoping for a leter delivery off the van, spect I'll be disappointed there. Wish I'd started my shopping sooner as usual, keep seeing things I'd like to buy now and they are either sold out or would come from 'overseas' ahem.
Love to all xx0 -
Hello all, hope everyone has had a good day. Sniffles gone, so it's not a cold. But sinus's still causing problems. Lots of nasal blood today, followed by a proper nose bleed - that'll be the Vasculitis then. :xmas_evil:
Toady, elevenses in our house is about 5pm, then again at 8pm. :xmas_lol:
Elizabeth, I've bought my youngest son (31 years old) a huge triple bar of Cad***ys chocolate with 5 Cad***ys model die cast delivery vehicles. Got them online. :xmas_cool:
Just had a chicken and bacon salad sandwich from T***o. The bacon was almost raw. yuck. !
Treated myself today, to a new toothbrush. :xmas_cheesygrin: A nice soft one for my sore mouth. I'm easily pleased. :hoho:"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Toady there are some lovely decorations around but, as you say, very expensive. Some of the bus drivers here drive past stops if no-one is holding their hand out. I once stood holding a few shopping bags so wasn't able to hold my hand out and the bus went straight past. Hope you didn't have to wait long till the next bus or did you get lost in Narnia. I was back at work today but it wasn't bad. Mango came out for a walk today and was fine as we stayed away from the park again. Think I'll have one of your scones with a cuppa. Thanks.
Barbara, it seems to take a while to get a job these days for the young ones. At least they phoned to tell your GD. Very few do these days. She'll get something soon I'm sure. You and your niece do right, having your pud now. You shouldn't miss out. Hope you enjoyed it.
Kath you are having a time of it. Nose bleeds now. Hope that stops soon. I think elevenses should be any time you want it. :xmas_lol:
Got my first Xmas pressie off my boss's mum today. She doesn't really do Xmas so she doesn't wrap them. Just puts them in a bag. I got some chocolates and a cup with bath gel and body moisturiser. :xmas_cheesygrin:Christine0 -
Morning all,We are going to Birmingham today to see the Jersey Boys it's the musical of Frankie Valley and The Four Seasons, the tickets are a xmas gift from our daughter .
It's really grey here here and I think it's drizzling.
Tomorrow meeting sil for coffee and to exchange gifts, that's it then just presents to wrap and fresh veg, salad and fruit to buy. Mig0 -
Morning all..
oops mig think I misunderstood the Jersey boys for something else my SIL went to see  :xmas_lol: it sound brilliant I lobe the Frankie Valley songs..you enjoy
Christine..it was good of them to ring her back, she has 2 more before Chritmas so fingers crossed..nice that you have got your first pressie..I have told my family to shop for me in the sales I hate to think they are spending on things that will be reduced :presents:
I got a letter yesterday cacelling my pain clinic on Christmas eve, sods law I thought of cancelling but then thought people are waiting for appoinments..so I will go..so it will be in January now

Hello Kathleen Toady Christine Barbara Elizabeth and anyone else who's in.
i had a problem yesterday my message went after trying to log in.
i hope you all have a good day today.

joan xx0 -
Phew! I've found some presents for the kids and so they will have something to open on the day. I was getting a bit panicky here. I feel happier now and Christmassy.
Kath thats a good idea for my Son-he loves vehicles.
I'm a fan of Frankie Valli, his early stuff; The Night and You're ready now are brilliant. I'd def go and see the Jersey boys. I hear you get to sing-a-long.
I thought they'd cancel Barbara. The staff will be last minute swapping holiday shifts etc....Well done with the Baileys. I've got some alcohol but I really shouldn't drink any. Did you enjoy your cake? I hope your GD has some luck with jobhunting. It is a worry. My Son has started to make an effort now and understanding the subjects a bit better.
I sorted my strange payment-it was carers but they had cut one Son off the claim by mistake (I'm on the old system). Its taken me a few months to notice and I used to be so-on-the-ball and pick these things up immediately. My blue badge has been messed up..OH now tells me he didn't hand over the proof of DLA mobility because they said they didn't need it. Never mind, I doubt I'll be using my badge for awhile although maybe for the pantomine parking!
Yes I agree I'm a celeb lacked something. EC is not my favourite politician -she's so smug all of the time and expected a lot more fireworks!
Applerose it was you who posted originally. Thank you for the detailed info. Yep they play games but there aren't many new ones out at the moment. Also Jack downloads all his games on Steam so there is nothing to unwrap! :xmas_sad: Money is the answer but again they don't see the significance.
Would your Sister want a granny flat for your Dad? I thought she was struggling coping with him which is why he went into the home. Would another move upset him?
I treated myself to some Morrocan style lamps. I've been after some for ages but nothing was quite right but these fitted the bill.
I need some food so I'm going to have a sniff around and see what is in the fridge!
Son got his hair cut at the school. They have a hairdressing studeo for the children. I'm sure they are well supervised and he looks lovely.
Must remember the presents for the teachers, bus driver and escort tomorrow. I don't have any wrapping paper though!

Joan dont worry about the post although it is frustrating...
Elizabeth..glad you are getting sorted ..its nice to have a more settled mind..especially were the children are involved..one of my neighbours is the only one I know that are getting a couple of small things then treating the children from the sales..brilliant..they have explained to there son he is nine and he is excited to have 2 Christmases..not easy with children...
How good they have cut your sons hair at school...never heard of that..so no blue badge for the min hope you get it soon
My eldest GD has just gone home..she has cleaned the windows and done some ironing..so she has been treated... :presents: I cant believe it Christmas next Thursday how it creeps up... :rudolph: but think I am now sorted..
Anyone seen Coco around hope she is doing ok..Love

Evening all not rrad back just wanted to say hi. All this driving around England to universities has wiped me out. Done the last long distance one now and she has a place as t one already. Still waiting to hear from the rest. Anyway luv to you all. Im resting now xx0
-
Mig, hope you enjoyed the show. Did you sing along?
Barbara, I'll keep my fingers crossed for your GD. Got another present in the post. A pair of reindeer pjs from my daughter. Hope you are ok with the change in appointment. Mmmm, Baileys. Enjoy them.
Joan, it is annoying when posts go missing. Sometimes it's too much to do them again.
Elizabeth, I'm glad you've sorted Xmas presents. I've done well this year but have often wandered round on Xmas Eve with still no idea for one or two people. It does panic you, doesn't it? Hope you manage to sort out your blue badge. I doubt very much my sister will actually get a granny flat. It's more to give my dad some hope that he won't be in the home for the rest of his life. he got so upset when they wouldn't let him go home, we don't have the heart to tell him that's how it is now. It seems lots of white lies are told to keep Alzheimers patients happy. The lamps sound lovely. You deserve a treat.
Coco, good to see you. I'm not surprised you are wiped out. Well done to your daughter on getting a place. Hopefully she'll have a choice.
My poor daughter is having a bit of a bad time. Her phone was broken so she borrowed her OH's old phone. That stopped working so she tried to take the back off and broke the screen. Then she got on the wrong tram on her way to an interview and got lost. That was rearranged but she missed it again because my GS locked her in the laundry room. She was there for an hour before she managed to squeeze through the dog flap taking a lump of wall off. It was a while later before she managed to convince him to pass the front door keys out to her through the letter box. Later she found the fence had blown over in to next door's garden. Apart from that, she loves it in Australia.
I finally managed to get a plumber to come to fix the leak under the kitchen sink. I had been told it needed a new valve and the part was £30. I bought one from W*lk*ns*ns for £2.99. The plumber had a quick look and said all it needed was a washer. He put one in and wouldn't take payment. Said it was a Xmas present. It was the same plumber who put my boiler in. I'd definitely recommend him. He came after he'd finished work on his way home too. Phoned C*rrys and told them I wanted to rearrange the installation of my new washer so someone is coming tomorrow.Christine0 -
Hello all - rejoice with me, for I have finished my xmas shopping. :candycane:
Well I had, til a certain oriental firm decided to go out of stock of a key item I'd ordered, but never mind, eh.
Haven't finished all my cards though. Today's schedule.. write a bit of a letter or card, stare into space, find an excuse to go & do something else, have cup of tea, waste some time on tinternet, write a bit more card, rinse & repeat. Still the worst is over & I too have started to get a bit more into it, TK. :xmas_cool: Glad you got some wrappable presents, not nice when you start to feel you're flapping a bit (I usually end up with stuff over because I've bought extras & decide at the end, which is a bit bad).
Barbara, typical to have your appt cancelled. At least it saves a not-very-convenient trip and as it's not you doing the cancelling, you'll have one in hand for if you do need to (is how I look at it.) Hope your ironing service was good. :xmas_cheesygrin: Very wise to look ahead to sale price presents, they will be reduced so soon, and people do go so mad buying overpriced things. Grocery van man said people were stripping the store, practically, awful to think how over the top some folk go. Silly.
Applerose I made it out of Narniawas nice in there though & I may not have found it for a while more if it wasn't for the way things happened. Your boss's mum is very no-nonsense in the xmas dept then, saves trouble I guess, & probably better than fussing. Glad mango managed walkies ok.
Hope Kath is keeping better.. coco hope the resting will pay some of your extra to-ing & fro-ings off.. and hello to joan & anyone passing. xxx
Hi again applerose, what a lovely boilerman, sounds like my chap. Glad you are sorted, so far, anyway. What a tale about your daughter - good grief, poor thing! Awful being locked in/out, and she must have been worried about your GS being on the other side, glad it worked out ok!! As an excuse to tell the interview people, it should sound too unlikely to be made up, anyway! :?0 -
Morning all
Christine your poor daughter..blimey getting through the dog flap I'm afraid they would have got the fire brigade out to me :xmas_eek: ..good for her..I am glad to hear that they love Aussie...hopefully things will go smoothly from now on..I was always the same Christmas eve panic..but since I started with OA I am now more laid back...I think... :presents: and I do love new PJs hope someone buys me some ..what a lovely plumber..there are some around..
Toady I love it...this is me all over, staring into space..and wondering around :xmas_lol: ...there are jobs galore want doing here...but who cares..mind you yes my GD did iron but only 4 things...but its there...I do love waiting for the sales..its my sons birthday in Jan...and my other son in March along with my middle GD..so I will be able to shop for them..sorry you item was out of stock.. :xmas_eek:
Good to see Coco in ..hope Christmas will be a little easier on you ..hopefully you can get some rest or is that out the question..are you doing Christmas..
I am awful at losing things I have 2 books for OH he knows what they are, but said wrap them till Christmas..not a clue were they are, one year I bought him some Beano characters.. and I forgot I had bought them till February.. :rudolph: its sunny here but was sleeting a few mins ago..
Today OH is not working..so we are chilling and having something to eat out only our cafe but its good  hope you all have a goodish day...xxxLove

Hello Joan, Elizabeth, mig, Toady, Christine, Barbara, coco, toni, hope I've not missed anyone. I hope you are all feeling as well as can be, and keeping warm.
Bright and sunny here, but too cold to hang the washing out. Even with the wind it wouldn't dry so it's going over the airer in the back bedroom. Not feeling too bad at the moment, but the RV is still pretty active, although I didn't have any itching last night and my sores are starting to calm down. Let's hope that continues. MTX number 9 last night, so hopefully it's starting to kick in. But got shoulder ache, back ache, head pains and sinus trouble. All caused by the RV. There's more, but don't want to bore you.
:carolers: :carolers: :carolers: :carolers:
Barbara, I don't stare into space, I just fall asleep - and snore. :xmas_lol:
Christine, I usually get the feeling I've forgotten someone at the last minute. Then I'll get a card and remember who it is.
coco, hope you get plenty of rest over the weekend.
Joan, I wonder if you missing post happened on the day I couldn't log in? Very frustrating. :xmas_mad:
Elizabeth, I hope you get your blue badge soon, I sometimes wish I had one, but as we don't drive it wouldn't be worth it, but would come in handy on the odd occasion ES or DIL give me a lift.
mig, hope you enjoyed the Jersey Boys. I have a penpal in New Jersey.
Barbara, glad you enjoyed your bailey's without having tummy pains.
Must have a quick cuppa before I go."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein
