We had a fair bit too Mig and Barbara here in the Midlands, but most of it went when it rained just before bed-time :xmas_sad:
Christine and Kath - I've brought some more cooking sherry  We must try very hard not to touch it too early today. Just look how beautiful it looks
Christine I am so glad your Dad is ok, but Mango!!!on the lead from now on - that must have been scary :xmas_eek: Sounds like you did well this Christmas.
Barbara has the snow cleared up yet?? I hope so it can be lethal. Like you I am struggling - it's harder that you think this Christmas malarkey. Any luck with the books yet??
Mig I hope you're ready for the Grandkids - I expect they arrive today? My brother SIL and girls (all similar ages to mine) will be here for a buffet tea today. Nice isn't it?
KathT I am so glad you like cooking sherry too
Sounds like your pressies were good I particularly liked the IOUShame you have so many appointments booked already, but it has to be done
Joan I hope you have a better year! You and Sue haven't had the best have you? :xmas_eek:
Love to you all

I was so looking forward to my Daughter visiting but due to trains being cancelled (maintenence work at Paddinton and King's Cross) she's ad to turn round and go back to Cornwall(she is visiting).
No snow here but very cold and very windy last night. But I can see on the news the Midlands got a heavy snow fall.

Forgot to say we had a lovely Christmas. Today e are having warm wells filled with turkey and sausage left overs.
I love trifle...have we any left.
I've not touched any alcohol yet..... hope the headache has gone Toni.
Applerose we did a food hamper for my OH parents. I really enjoyed making the box up..it was all rich food though, pork pies, venison which really OH Dad should avoid as he has gout.

Mig, bet it looks beautiful there. Hope you're not having any problems with it though. Aw, your son isn't coming now? As you say better safe than sorry though.
Toni, put that bottle of cooking sherry down. We need it for the trifle. :xmas_lol: I see you got a photo of us out walking. Hope you have a good day with your family.
Barbara, hope OH is cleaning and tidying the house as he's searching. Might as well while he's there. :xmas_lol: That is upsetting when Xmas presents don't turn up but I'm sure your GD will understand.
Joan, hope you and Sue are having a relaxing weekend.
Elizabeth, sorry your daughter isn't coming. The trains often seem to be cancelled these days. I didn't have any leftovers as I was at my son's for dinner but I did buy a couple of turkey steaks which I had in a sandwich with cranberry sauce. You have to, don't you? :xmas_lol:
Do you know the advert on tv where the cat says he is now 'more dog'? Well I think Mango is now more cat. He is sitting beside me just now preening and licking just like one. Been to T*sc* and got the food in for a buffet tomorrow. My son, his wife and the GC and my DIL's parents and her 99 year old grandad are coming for the afternoon.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.Christine0 -
sorry meant warm rolls...don't know why I said warm wells, think somebody was chatting to me and distracted me...and I have't even ad any alcohol!
I'm pretty good at losing presents Barbara but they turn up eventually. Trouble is they have to be well hidden so as not to be found by the recipient....

Hello all, hope everyone is wrapped up warm, especially if you have to go out. :rudolph: And take care, don't want anybody slipping over. :xmas_eek:
We've had a fairly good covering of snow, but as I haven't set foot out of the door today, I don't know how bad the roads are. ?
Christine, I hope your buffet is a success and that DIL's parent's and 99 year old granddad enjoy it. 99, what a good age.
Elizabeth, the hamper sounds a real treat. Venison, never tried it but would love to. Sorry your daughter can't make it because of the snow. :xmas_evil:
Looking forward to sampling some of the soups that are being made. I love soup. But I think I had a bit too much cooking sherry, must go steady with it in future. I did sleep well though. :xmas_lol:"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Elizabeth I saw the poor people on the news waiting for a train..honestly what they are thinking about why didnt they have coaches on for them..glad you had a good Christmas..
Joan hope you and Sue are keeping nice and warm
Christine...I used to love doing buffets at boxing day..gone are those days ..hope it all goes to plan for you what a brilliant age is DILs GD..I had to laugh at Mango preening himself..OH clean up..no chance he doesn't see mess so I have to point it out... :xmas_evil: these books are driving me mad..I bet they are in a place we have looked
Kath glad you slept well I love soups but have only managed to make one good one tomato and basil..hope you are keeping warm
Right this has taken me over half hour with this keyboard..we have middle GD here..and our eldest one is on her way..so we went shopping for food for them..all the Christmas food went... :xmas_eek:Love

Lots of snow here still and it's frozen solid.Hopefully son and family can get here next Friday.0
-
Kath, still no snow here but have seen pictures on the news showing how bad it is in some areas.
Barbara, I once watched a programme where they did an experiment and it showed that men really don't notice mess. ! Talking of you losing the books, I once bought a picnic hamper with the plates and cutlery etc in it. It didn't get used so ended up in the loft. A couple of weeks ago, I went looking for it and it was nowhere to be seen. A few days ago, I was looking for something else and came across it. I had been looking for a wicker basket but it was actually a sort of plastic cloth. :xmas_eek: I also had a chocolate fountain which was bought a couple of years ago and never used. I decided to set it up today for the kids but that is nowhere to be seen now. Bet I find it next week.
Mig, hope all that ice ans snow melts quickly so your son can get to you.
Well the buffet went well. Lots of food left so I had to make everyone take some home as I couldn't eat most of it being wheat intolerant. I had my own little plate of gluten-free food. Just finished off the trifle though leaving the sponge bit. :cheesygrin:Christine0 -
Hi all, just a line.. so you know where I am (in the corner with a soup mug, taking it easy
) - no snow, just chilly. Yes I'm plenty warm barbara thanks, and have some new furry hats.. hope everyone else is ok too, not too cold especially if going out. Which I'm not planning to.
Sorry the books have not turned up, and I was going to say what applerose has said in a way, which is if you've lost something, go and deliberately look for something else. I find that does the trick. I'm having trouble picturing applerose's sort-of-picnic-basket. :?
Nothing to report, I got most of my xmas stuff in the end, though one book will have to go back (it was damaged and they offered me 10% off to keep it - no ta! Cheek) on the other hand, I ordered 2 books a while before xmas & received them ok, then last week... received them again. Yes 2 more the same. Actually the only efficient customer service I've had has been off small firms, unsurprisingly.
Back when I have de-christmasedlove to everyone. xxx

Morning all
Foggy and freezing here..not a good mix :xmas_eek:
Christine glad the buffet went well,,I used to do the same far to much food..but better that than to less...just put some in the cafe it will get eaten..the picnic basket...its soda law that you forget what they looked like..I dont know if the books are in a bag or not..so men dont see mess..and loads of other things they should see.. :xmas_evil:
Toady glad you have the hats and are keeping warm..we are in dispute with a firm for some shoes my GD got for Christmas..she sent hem back, well I did but they saying we have damaged the box..we made sure the box was looked after because of the price of the shoes..oops sorry going off on one here..can I come to yours and de-christmased please..next year I said I will hibernate..its far to commercialized now..very sad..
Poor Mig waiting for her son..I think they are saying next week will be milder so fingers crossed..
Toady and Christine I am off to look for my photos I had printed..them might find the books ..are anything else I have lost over the years :xmas_idea:Love

Hello all, hope everyone had a good weekend and are feeling fairly good.
Joan, hope all is well with you too.
Barbara, hope you find your books soon.
Christine, my OH sees mess. He has OCD which is sometimes difficult to live with. :x
Toady, I've just had some chicken soup with a piece of gala pie, strange combination, but very filling and warming.
mig, I hope your family manage to get home in time for New Year. Our snow is melting, it was very crunchy underfoot first thing, and it will probably freeze again tonight. :?
Feeling very fed up with myself at the moment. Went to T**co, put my bus pass safely in my pocket, but when we left, it wasn't there. I don't know how it went missing, or when. I noticed it just before we left the store, and asked if anyone had handed it in. But they hadn't. So it looks as though I have to pay £5 for a replacement, and pay bus fare until I get it.
Getting fed up of the Christmas stuff now, I've even taken my cards down. Bah humbug."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Toady, I've found a picture of a similar picnic set. http://www.thesportshq.com/confidence-picnic-basket-bright-blue-polkadots.aspx?affiliate=cse_google&utm_source=google&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=shopping&gclid=CIvS37GR7MICFYHHtAodCw8ANA Not worth paying 10 % less for a damaged book, is it? Hope you get everything sorted out.
Barbara, I've just finished off the trifle so that's all the buffet stuff gone now. Just the chocolates and my little Xmas cake and a couple of mince pies to go. Help yourselves to the chocolates. Hope you get the problem with the boots sorted out. Did you find anything while you were looking for the photos?
Joan, hope you don't have too much snow so you can get out ok.
Kath, my DIL has OCD. Drives my son nuts sometimes. Hope someone has found your bus pass and it's on it's way back to you. It can be expensive travelling by bus.
Well I haven't done anything much today. Tidied up a bit after yesterday, started a jigsaw and played with Mango. Oh and ate and ate and ate. Well it is Xmas after all. :presents:Christine0 -
Morning all..the sun is shining so hopefully no ice.. :xmas_cool:
Kath..Awww I do hope you get your pass back the fairs are so expensive..we are lucky we mostly use the car..no bus stops nearby...but I was always mislaying the passes...you are not the only one that has taken the cards down at least 2 of my neighbours have...I am thinking about it...very superstitious I am..daft really...
Christine..not found the books or the pics..I think OHi s losing patience now..he bought one of the books and asked me to wrap it :xmas_eek: oh well they will turn up sometime... ! !
so you are all tidy now...wish we were and we haven't had anyone round since Christmas day... :xmas_lol:
We have lots of chocolates here I always get to many..in case people call with children... and I forgot to send my niece some for her son..this is my excuse anyway.... :rudolph:
They are saying OHs van is a right off but he is not having it..so he has asked for a second opinion they are not happy..the thing is you never get what the van is worth
Just had a call from DIL out little Niamh has to have her tonsils out in the next 6 weeks..its all worry...hope you are all keeping warm and doing ok...xxxxxLove
Barbara0 -
We had a hard frost last night but it all cleared by lunchtime. I bought more chocolates too because I ate most of them before Xmas. Had to have some for when people came round. Hope your OH gets his van sorted out soon. It's an expense even though it wasn't his fault. Poor little Niamh.
It's awful when babies need to have an op but hopefully she'll be much better afterwards.
I've had another quiet day but did empty and clean 2 cupboards in the kitchen. Wondering if I've stretched too much as I think I've pulled a muscle in my side. Couldn't move for a while but the pain has eased a bit. Hope everyone is enjoying the week.Christine0 -
Morning all
Icy but sunny...
Sorry forgot to mention Joan yesterday...hope things are going ok for you and Sue..can you both both get out and about on your scooters..
Christine I could have give you some chocolates..dont know what possessed me to get so many :xmas_eek:
Good for you getting some jobs done..I still feel like spring cleaning but not got round to it yet.I hope that pulled muscle is not to painful..its so easy when its cold to do this..and has you know they can be painful..try and get an easy day ..
.we are going to our neighbours tonight..but dont think I will last till 12 .. cant believe its 15 years since the millennium .... :xmas_eek:
Will put the kettle on and have a ponder...Love

Hello everyone
Kathleen i hope you soon get your bus pass back. i have not used a buss for years the driver goes before you can sit down i used dial a ride thats door to door.
Christine we have not had any snow yet.
Barbara i'm sorry about the baby so young.
i wish you all a happy 2015
take care

Hello everyone, hope you are all ok and looking forward to tonight festivities - well those you are having yourselves, not other people's. :?
Joan, the drivers on our local group are very considerate, and usually wait until those of us less able, sit down. We are in the majority around here. Not sure whether to put a smily face or a grumpy face there, so will use both.:x
Barbara, one of my grandsons was born in the millenium, he will be 15 on February 8th.
Christine, our snow and ice is finally melting thank goodness. We went to the health centre this morning, I had a blood test. On the way out, OH stood on a patch of black ice just outside the door, just avoided falling over.
Went to the council office this morning to ask for replacement bus pass, it cost £5, It should come within 10 days. The quicker the better as the bus fare into our local town centre is £1.80 - it's only a 3 mile journey, but a taxi would cost about £7-8. If we used the dial a ride like Joan and Sue, it costs a £1 flat fee, wherever you are going. I suppose it's the same everywhere though."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Thank you Barbara. The muscle is a bit achey today but I'm managing to get about but I'm not doing much anyway. Oh my goodness, yes it has been 15 years. Where did they go? I remember standing in our High Street while the local radio was there playing music. It was freezing. At midnight they did a countdown and everyone cheered then they packed up and left us all standing there so we all just went home. Think we expected more. Hope you enjoy your evening at your neighbour's.
Are you doing anything tonight Joan and Sue? I skyped with my daughter earlier as they welcomed in the New Year in Australia. They were watching the fireworks on tv as the kids were asleep in bed. I'll be skyping tonight again as we see the New Year in. That's if I can stay awake. Usually asleep by 11pm.
Kath, thank goodness your OH didn't fall. Black ice is so dangerous. Hope you bus pass is quicker than 10 days.
I'll say Happy New Year to all my cafe friends now just in case anyone pops in tonight. Hope it's a better year than the last one.Christine0 -
