Hello all
good to see Toni in and what a good idea..track me on GPS..tell you I have no sense of direction...hope all is well and I love the idea of pesto with mozzarella...
toady yes halleluiah...never again I have hid things before and forgotten I bought them..
Christine I like to listen to Steven Hawkins..and have see the trailer must say it did look good, glad you enjoyed it..brushing dogs is very therapeutic..and play fighting...
Mig I am the one in our house that grumbles about the heating..OH leaves it on and forgets about it... I hate to think we are lining the pockets of these firms...now I am off on one better shut up
Joan sorry you cant get out hope the snow melts soon..
We had snow very light hail on top and now its melted
My neighbour saw the space station again..he say it is definitely it..I had to laugh his wife took a pic of him in his dressing gown scarf coat and hat, I am fuming I haven't seen it yet but doesn't help when its so early..Love

Hello everyone. Good grief, it is really cold today, but we still went out to T***o. I hope everyone is keeping warm and using various heatpads, wheat packs etc. I took 2 Co Codamol before going out, my shoulder and back feels ok at the moment, thank you all.
Mig, I have had pesto, but don't know how to make it. I can't eat things like that very often as my sore mouth can't cope with spicy or vinegary food. Or hot or very cold food/drinks. I'm surprised I managed toeat spam fritter the other day, but put some thrush ointment on that morning, which did the trick.
Barbara, glad you found the missing books. So frustrating when you can't find what you know you have squirreled away somewhere. If I put things in a safe place, I should realise I'll never find it again. :?
Toady, is your doorbell working again now?

I am sorry been away from the cafe. I seem to be sleeping from morning until when the children return from school. Still coughing and also itching terribly again. I am sure it is something to do with circulation as it is worse when I first lie down and then when I wake up. Lucy is getting cross with me as usual.
Toni my Lucy has fine hair. We have had sessions where I attempt to get all the knots out but she just lets it get bad again which is very frustrating.
Oh Barbara the books were (sort of) in the wardrobe! Not sure how you managed to bend down enough to hide them under the wardrobe in the first place but it is easy place to smuggle gifts away, tucked under clothes or on a shelf, as I've done the same.
Kath I loved oxtail soup but haven't had any for years. You have reminded me now. My Nan used to make it and bring it round along with my Bunty comic.
Thank you for your good wishes about Aunty E. Sadly auntie can't be buried until February 9th which does seem a very long time. Se was the last link to my Mum. I hated seeing her go downhill. I'm grateful that family visited her almost every day in her care home so she was never alone. She had no children of her own so we were 'her children'.
How lovely Joan and Sue had a meal out with a friend(s). Hope you brought a doggy bag home. Sorry you are stuck in at the moment. There may be more cold weather on its way.
I have been invited out for a meal but cannot go due to babysitting issues.I also have 5 or 6 friends hitting 50 this month with some surprise parties I could go to but will also have to miss for the same reason.
I'm going to post now, even though I've not finished, incase I lose this post!

Much colder today.. have really noticed it dropping especially the second the sun went in. :?
Glad you are a bit easier Kath & hope you carry on that way. Doorbell is dead presumed batteries I think, last time I fixed it it was the wiring, but the batteries seem to die quickly. Lack of use probablymaybe the bell is picking up the subliminal vibe that I don't want callers.
I now know all there is about lock innards but fixing it may not be straightforward. Obviously they are not the world class locks one thinks them, if applerose's has been up to the same trick. Should last for decades! Had trouble with one of the screws, and even with a houseful of asstd screwdrivers, the only bit that was 'right' turned out to be one of my drill driver bits - so ended up using the drill (unpowered) as a screwdriver (as I felt it may not budge easily and didn't want to have an 'incident' with the drill). All laugh now.Sledgehammer to crack a nut etc, eccentric but it worked so that's the main thing. Would not like to fit one from scratch toni, but the actual fitting I could do if replacing like for like.
Frog has a light covering of snow  (barbara and joan have had some too), and applerose has had a light covering of snow and dog hair.Don't suppose that was in the forecast. Not a hint of snow here - just cold - definitely a day for soup. Hope mig thought of something easy for tea.
Coffee for now I think, and I have a very big box of m**chies from xmas here so don't stop at just 1 or 2 will you, I won't even miss them.xx
Hello TK, sorry to hear you are still coughing.Sorry to hear about your aunt's funeral, too, will it be nearby? I was going to ask if she was on your Mum or Dad's side. I have a sister of my Dad's still living but like you, really no-one direct of my mother's now. Hope that maybe you can juggle a few things to at least be able to get to one of your social 'things' - & that you feel better. xx
btw have you made any time to follow bits of CBB? It really is a bear pit these days, more so with every series since Ch5 took over. Dubious really that they have people quite so 'on the edge' take part, almost hoping for trouble. I'd go back to the old early format for choice, with more focus on the tasks - when you think of the first few - what a difference! Still, I'm watching, so I can't really make too many moral judgments I suppose..0 -
Mig, I didn't realise how quickly MND developed. What a terrible disease.
Toni, I hope the wheat bag is helping your back. Glad Lucy has had such a good week.
Joan, I hope the snow and ice clear quickly so you can get out.
Barbara, I'm the same. Don't like to spend money on something that's not needed. I've got big jumpers. The ISS is passing over very early in the morning at the moment but it will eventually pass in the early evening. That would make a funny picture of your neighbour in his dressing gown.
Kath, I like my food and eat almost anything. it must be awful having a sore mouth like that. One thing I don't like is oxtail soup.
Elizabeth, you must really need your sleep at the moment. Do you think you should ask your GP about it? Maybe you are run down. The itching and coughing won't be helping. That does seem like a long time before a funeral. It was the same for my mum. It's good that family visited often. What a shame you can't get out to the parties. Is there no-one at all who could babysit, even for a couple of hours?
Toady, it wasn't too bad here today until mid afternoon. Then the temperature dropped quite quickly. My doorbell is on top of the microwave waiting for me to change the batteries. It's been there for about 4 months. So glad you said your drill wasn't plugged in when you were using it as a screwdriver on the lock. I was worried about reading the next bit.
I decided to have a wander in to town this afternoon. Haven't been since just before Xmas. Got a free ride on the train again. Just as we were pulling in to the station, there was an announcement to remind us that there was a football match on so there were police officers waiting to check our tickets. We all looked at each other because no-one had tickets. As it happened, there was no-one to check them. Phew! Didn't want to end up in a police cell for the afternoon.I bought some seal for the doors to keep the draught out. I also wanted a large diary and a small one. Didn't find any small ones and I felt the large ones were too expensive.
Christine0 -
^ Well it was a screwdriver bit I was using I hasten to add, not a drill bit
but either way you were quite right to fear what was coming next
health & safety is not my forte. If H&S could see the amount of flexes I have trailing about the gangways they would have a fit (well I have to have a few small rebellions against the straight & narrow, it's not like I'm about to take up extreme sports.) Nice to read someone else's household jobs are going undone.
I must have missed the reason behind the free train tickets but I'm glad you weren't all hauled off & clapped in irons!or do you have to be on board ship for that.
Going to check my e**y items (I did sell something yesterday) then it's laptop off for me. xx have a good Sunday all.

Good Morning Toady!!
I am so pleased that you're remotely safety conscious!! HeheheYou could always 'tape' your wires down with duct-tape (sp??)
A light covering of snow and dog-hair was certainly NOT in the forecast
My Bro is a determined sort of brother so he did succeed in his lock too - finally. Well-done you!!
ChristineOur doorbell is working intermittently too!!!! I think it's poorly though because batteries wouldn't do that
I got my diary from H*me B*rgain. It was a cheapie, but will do. We have so much on as you can imagine. Thanks Lucy is doing well. Glad you all got away with your free ride.
Aw ElizabethYou were your Aunty's children too it must have hit hard ((())) I hope the tiredness isn't due to the RA flaring?
It's a shame you can't get to any of the 50thsYou can say what you want to in your cards to them though can't you?
KathT Thank you I am here with my wheaty on my back
I hope your shoulder and back are ok ATM even if you did have to take some Co-cos to be sure.
Enjoy your soup. I never liked it you know - it's name used to make me squeamish!!
Barbara - you'll have the GPS tag then?Pesto goes realy well with mozzarella. In fact I've just remembered, when Lucy went through a phase of easting mozzarella beef toms and petso butties on 5 grain bread!!! That was after she escaped from the hospital and lasted WEEKS!!!!
I haven't seen the space station yet either, but will try when it comes at a more civilised hour!!!
Ah JoanWe are on a side road on a hill too. Best to stay in - it's really not worth any more injuries especially with the osteoporosis. Fingesr crossed it warms up soon eh?
Right I'll give the place a quick once-over now
and
finally....where's my peg for my nose??
love

Toady, there is no ticket office at our local station and most times no-one to check or sell the tickets on the train. Tickets aren't checked at the station I get off at either. I have a lot of cables behind my tv. I don't look behind there too often as it looks quite scary. Hope your ebay items are selling well.
Toni, I checked a H*me B*rgains and they didn't have any diaries. Might have to go to a bigger one. I'm not desperate for one. I found an old diary in a drawer which I hadn't used. New Year's Day that year was the same as this year so I thought that would do. Then I noticed that that one was a leap year so it will only last till the end of next month. I could change the dates as I go along I guess. Seems a shame not to use it.
Well I was planning a dog walk and maybe a walk to Ald* today but I am sitting in bed and watching it getting whiter and whiter outside. Think Ald* is out but might still try taking Mango out. He enjoys barking at the snow when it gets kicked up.Christine0 -
blimey busy in here lets see what I can remember..nothing so I just keep reading back
Christine I look forward to the space station being early evening..I have lots of big cardigans that I can wear thing under..hope you can get out it is white hear and foggy..not a good mix..you be careful..good luck with the diary..
Toni thanks for tracking me...I once had my fortune told in Blackpool and got lost and couldn't find the hotel...
now she didnt pick up on that but did say I would find love...
did meet a nice policeman but nothing came of it..hope Lucy is doing ok and your back...
toady ..our house is the same ..we had social service in once a long story about a shower...but she went white when she saw leads off the hoover and lamp... mats and draft excluders,,is that what they are called.. :? I have my own screwdriver and nobody has to touch it...I love the many heads it has..sad I suppose..good luck with the diy...
Kath..I am brilliant at hiding things..hope you are managing to keep warm..I dont mind has long as its not windy then there are no drafts..oxtail soup..I used to make that many moons ago..I think it was good.. :?
Elizabeth I remembered I dropped the books on the floor and must have kicked them under..but how on earth I would have got them out is another matter.. sorry you are so tired it must be rotten when all you want to do is sleep..I know your meds can cause it but why dont you have your vit levels checked out..sorry you cant get out due to baby sitting probs..what a shame it would do you good..hope you can sort something
like I said quite foggy hear and freezing so will be staying put..hope you can all saty warm and safe...xxxxLove

Hello all you lovely warm people. Well I hope you're warm anyway. Local weather (Notts) say it's going to be the coldest for two years. and we might have some snow on high ground. Thankfully we live in a valley and there is no high ground that close. Although where my YD lives in Derbyshire, is near the Peak district.
Christine, I'm diary mad. I have 2 File-*-**x, a large one and a small one, a Macmillan diary, and a journal. I saw a nice diary in our local PO which I fancied, but daren't buy it - goodness knows what OH would say. :? I also have 3 on my iPad and two on my laptop.
Toni, my shoulder only hurts when I lean back in my Lazy-boy. The inflammation must be right where my back presses against the chair back.
Elizabeth, I used to have Bunty and Judy. We lived just round the corner from the newsagent when I was a young girl. I'd rush round every week when the comics came out to get them.Happy days.
Smoked salmon, potato au gratin, broad beans and fresh tomato. Yum. Someone mentioned they'd bought some christmas goodies in, let me at 'em.
BTW, I didn't have any itching last night.Hope it continues. Perhaps my meds are finally working, I did have MTX number 13 on Thursday. Fingers crossed.

Evening...
Kath good to see the itching isn't too bad..I have lots of Christmas goodies..and keep trying to give them away..but nobody's wants them..they are in the tin by the toaster..I think..glad there is someone else I have 3 diary's now.. :?
Been and bought another bird feeding station...it holds 4 feeders and a water dish...only £9..so at least the birdies will be happy...
Got eldest GD here she has a part time job for now at a care home..only £ 3 an hour but its there..a little better than a apprenticeship...hope you are all keeping warm...this house is so draughty... :roll:Love

'Lo all. Much nicer morning but dropping cold again now. Waiting to bid on an e*ay item so thought I'd fortify myself with cafe drinks & biccies while I nerve myself up.
My trail-y cables & things are just where I leave hoovers & extensions lying about in silly places like across landings, frognot dodgy wiring or anything. Well my cooker is a deathtrap but not being used pending replacement. Ooh, cables behind the tv, heavens yes they are so messy, I blame the digital switchover.
Thanks for explaining about the tickets applerose, I seem to remember something similar where I once lived.. I think I usually had to pay when getting off on return, or during the journey, not sure if I ever had an occasion when there was no-one. The new buses don't seem to hand out tickets, it's an unsettling feeling not having one. It's a big step down from the old service all round, but the price has gone up.
Ooh, broad beans Kath, haven't had any for ages and ages. Used to love buying fresh ones and podding them from their lovely furry pods. Not the same when buying online & can't choose your own. I have no diary, calendar, or anything these days, no wonder I can't organise myself. Hope you're less twingy today. x
Hope Tk is doing ok today too.. and everyone.. especially those not posting. xx
Off to hover over the 'bid' button.. will try not to go too mad..
Hello barbara, glad you're looking after your dear birdiesmine are loving their hanging coconut shell of fat mix I put up recently. Ideal for if what's on the ground has gone or got rained on etc. 'My' robin will fly & take crumbs off a plate.

Well Barbara, I did get out to walk Mango but it started snowing quite heavily just as we got home so I stayed in for the rest of the day. You have 3 diaries? I feel I am missing out now.
Sounds as if your birds will be well fed. It's the Big Bird Count next weekend. Will you be taking part? At the last count, I didn't have any birds but there are plenty around at the moment. £3 an hour? I think if they can do the job, they should get the pay. I guess your GD will get the experience though.
Wow, you do have a lot of diaries Kath. My daughter says I should keep my diary online but that's no good to me when I don't have the computer on. I remember Bunty and Judy and later I got the Jacky. I used to get the Jacky on a Saturday along with a bar of chocolate and curl up in front of the fire in winter. Brilliant to hear you had no itching last night.
Toady, yes it's no wonder prices go up if they don't collect the fares. Our drivers take the fares on the buses. Not seen any who don't. Hope you won on Eb*y.Christine0 -
Morning all...sunny but freezing...tell me to shut up if you don't want a weather review for the North West...
toady hope you get the item you were bidding on...doesn't the time drag for the last few mins
Christine..I used to get Bunty..and remember the ring that came free with itglad you got outwith Mango..nice to be home in the warmth.though..I have a thing about buying diaries..and use them all for one thing and another...don't ask...
got our eldest GD here..she starts tomorrow...and its not nearby... so buses wouldn't work...she would be out of pocket...
We will be on to insurance again today ,.,they still haven't come up with the excess they took off the payment for the van..if they pay that then we are pleased and got what is was worth...
Right still trying to sort this bird feeder will see you all later...xxxxxLove

Morning all, I don't mind the weather reports Barbara its freezing here in nottm too very overcast as well.
Cough seems to have cleared up but back is still not right so still doing the exercises.
Our middle son brought us a soup maker for xmas ,you can maker smooth soup in 28 mins or chunky in 21 mins its been good trying out different things yesterday it was the trimmings from broccoli and cauliflower with leek, potato (to thicken ) and a couple of garlic cloves, chicken stock thought i would freeze some but its all gone .Mig0 -
Hello mig, christine, barbara, toady and anyone else who pops in.
Glad to hear you are all managing to keep warmish.
Minimal itching last night, on my back, legs were OK. I didn't use any cream yesterday or last night, so today my skin was dry and sore. Used some this morning though.
Barbara, your bird station sounds like ours. I hope you get more birds on it than we do. Blummin' piggins and starlings use it more than the small birds it was intended for.
Toady, OH has just read that last night was colder than Moscow and Helsinki and it's set to be even colder tonight.Bedsocks in bed I think.
Christine, we haven't had any snow here yet. But I bet we do before the week is out. :?
mig, we have a glimmer of sun in the part of Nottm where we are, mind you, we are just over the border in Derbys so perhaps further west than you are. Soup sounds delicious, shame there's none left."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

apologies for not finishing my post and i wanted to say hi to toady and Applerose.
Not read back yet.
Been asleep most of the morning, boy I needed it, and I took 2 painkillers because both feet were killing me as i had extra standing this morning but I've had to get up now as everything is still to do. Dan has a headache so e is upstairs and Lucy 'probs' are back again so she will need some extra help for a few days.
Funeral is 2 hours south, I know I should go. Don't think I'll be able to go to any of the parties. I cannot leave Daniel with anyone sadly. He kicks off about noise, although it as been surprisingly quiet since before Christmas. Wish it was always like this.
Omg Big Brother is awful! I'm not liking the blatant bullying going on- Katie H is behaving like a school girl. Still I am watching to see who dares challenges her.Yes not many tasks this time is there? I suppose having children with special needs, I always look for a reason behind peoples behaviour and try to be patient and kind as much as possible.
the coughing is better than it as been and not waking me up as much now.
We did have snow on Saturday morning. Lucy and I were chatting about the warmer weather records, of 2014 being the warmest since records began, and she said she loved snow and would miss it and then looked up and shouted 'it's snowing'
Going to post again before I lose it

Yoohoo I'm back. OH is trying to book a hotel in York so had to have a look with him but over £100 a night is steep!
£3 per hour Barbara that is daft. i mean it is work after all and hard work at that. They think they can pay peanuts nowadays and people just don't feel valued.
applerose I started with Twinkle before Bunty and then I went on to Shoot magazineI sometimes read Jacky.
Good news I got my Blue badge.
Bit chilly and only just got my socks on. I'm supposed to be buying a new set of weigh scales as the others got taken back to the shop. So I have no idea how much I weigh...will be a surprise...
all the best with your Ebay bidding Toady.
Much love to all wrap up and keep up wit the soup and healthy meals

Barbara, good luck for your GD. Will your OH be driving her then? Hope you get the insurance and the bird feeder sorted.
Mig, glad the cough has shifted. Hope the exercises work for your back. The soups sound good.
Kath, hopefully the itching is gone soon. Don't forget the cream tonight. I have pigeons, starlings and a crow in the garden eating all the food. The blackbirds, sparrows, robin and wren get the crumbs that are left. I didn't notice how cold it was last night but I'm feeling it a bit tonight.
Elizabeth, there's no need to apologise for not finishing your post. I often post before I'm finished in case I lose it. Glad you managed some sleep. Hope it gets you through the next few days. York is a lovely place. We stayed in a Premier Inn (or was it the other one? Can't remember the name) and it only cost £29 per night per room for 2 of us. £100  Yaaay, your blue badge has arrived.
Joan, I hope you and Sue are both well.
It was very crispy underfoot this morning although most had gone by teatime before it started freezing again. I left work on Friday afternoon and my boss and his wife left for Iceland on Saturday morning. The 18 year old went back to uni on Sunday morning so only 2 left in the house. Don't know what on earth went on but the house looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in weeks and there was a mountain of washing to do.Christine0 -
Morning all
GD gone off to work with OH...she was shaking with nerves but I said she will be ok when she gets into it...it will come and go has my late mum used to say..32 years ago today my mum died..and I still miss her..she would be 99..
Mig thanks I thought I might be boring people..glad to see the cough has cleared, but be careful with that back..the exercises do work very well on backs
Kath we have one bird station at the back and one at the front now..they are good ...the trouble is it take a while for them to get used to a new one so will have to be patient..glad the itching has eased for you
Christine..yes oh has taken GD to work..fancy your boss going to iceland..is it warm at this time of the year..I can imagine the house if ours is anything to go by...teenagers just throw things.. you be careful walking if its slippy...
Elizabeth ..they can get away with paying low wages if they are under a certain age ..someone said it can go in to 21.. but she has other interviews so fingers crossed..brilliant news about the badge..you never know these days..I hope that Lucy will feel better ..its all worry with children has you know..glad at least you are getting the sleep in you must need it...is it hubby just going away for work...I have missed a couple of funeral lately...so do you go worrying..
Joan I hope its clear for you and Sue to get out today
Got ring and ride booked for this afternoon..1 oclock and come back at 2.30..so will see whats its like ...hope youall have a good day..xxxxxLove
