Just having some quiet time. I've been up to the Lucy's parent evening, she's doing fine but spent a lot of time chatting about my oldest boy who used to go there.

I'm sure your GD will be fine and will do well. She'll soon settle. It will also look good on her CV.

Hi Applerose. The travelode was cheap but as loads are going to the party they have put the price up to over £100. He's booked into a B&B 2 nihts so I'll be alone with the kids this weekend. Just need to make sure the heating is left on as I can't reach the boiler.

Has any one been watching place of execution? It is really good. Tonight is part3 of 3 but it clashes with Wolf Hall, which I'm also interested to watch. Claire Foy, who plays Anne Boleyn, was at school with my Daughter.

I hope the boss has a lovely time in Iceland. It is beautiful and my Son had the chance to go with his school this year but didn't want to go. It was to do with the Geography a level course which he dropped due to a timetable mix up (much to my annoyance).

Last night I decided to cut the knots out of Lucy's hair as it was beyond a joke and I'm fed up trying to disguise it in a pony tail. She looked like one of those Victorian waifs! I just cut out the worst knots and then trimmed the hair shorter and luckily it looks okay. I have told her it must be brushed morning and night from now on.

I am a tad chilly but don't think we will have anymore snow as it is arming up in the next few days. I see some of you had a lot of snow!

Joan take care, everybody keep wrapped up with a nice hot toddy.

Barbara, I'm sure your GD would be ok. I've always hated starting a new job but it doesn't take long to settle in. Glad she has befriended someone but not good she has been bitten. I don't think it matters how old we are, we all miss our mum's when they are no longer with us. ((hugs)) My boss's wife said Iceland was freezing but they wrapped up with lots of layers. They didn't see the Northern lights but did go swimming in a lake. Brrrrr!

Joan, how is Sue doing? Does she still have the boot on? Hope the snow stays away for you.

Elizabeth, that's good that Lucy is doing well. £100? Wow, that's not fair putting it up that much. Hope the weekend goes well for you. My boss and his wife loved the time they spent in Iceland. What a shame your son missed out on the trip. Hope Lucy looks after her hair now after you've sorted it out for her.

Mig, it's been the same here over the last few days, lots of snow then rain and the temperature going up so it's all gone quickly. Thank goodness.

Hello everyone. No snow here, it's dry, but very dull. I hear the wind is to return this weekend, so I hope you manage to get some sleep Toady.

Two itchless nights in a row, and today is MTX number 14. Does this mean it's finally been beaten? Or will it come back with a vengeance again? :?

Barbara, have your birds found your new feeding station yet? When OH puts out bird food, he gives the nut holders a shake, and a Blackbird will suddenly appear on the fence and watch as he puts fat sprinkles down on the ground. The when OH has come in, he scoots down to eat as many as he can. It's lovely to watch. :Dg060.gif

Mig, I'm helping myself to both your delicious meals. I'm still a hungry muncher. :)

Hope you all are managing to keep warm. I went out for my blood test yesterday wearing two of everything.

It is very very cold today  I think my brain has dipped below functioning temperature so excuse if I lapse into incoherence

Running low on teabags too til the milkman on Sat, so if there's an IOU in the teacaddy, it's me.

You can keep Iceland for me applerose.. heading off to somewhere colder than this, no ta, pretty lights or no pretty lights. I see why people would though, just can't cope with the cold & all that wrapping up, ugh.

Hope your GD gets on ok barbara and decides what she wants to do.. have to say, £3 an hour for bitey old ladies and 'not very nice' things, I would have run like the wind. And yes it's not very sympathetic towards the elderly of me I know but I'm not planning on anyone having to look after me at 101 so that'll have to count as quits. Maybe the other interviews will have some better options for her? Hope you sorted out what to do today & if it was strictly indoors.

Hope TK is doing ok today and especially that the weekend will go alright, heating & whatnot & no problems. Hope Dan & Lucy are alright too and getting over the headaches & troubles. Haven't watched Place of Execution or much else these days, I'm sure I'm missing some good things as I see trailers which catch my eye then don't make a point of watching. Not sure which way Friday's BB eviction will go but have the horrors of people 'warming' to Katie.

Kath, hope the itching has decided it knows when it's beaten. :) Thanks for wishing I'll sleep through any wind, I suppose I should just stuff a hat or some earmuffs on but don't like the muffledy feeling. :? Saw a redwing in the garden yesterday :D it didn't come down to feed but lovely to see, especially as they don't visit gardens much. Birds like all my overgrown trees, while all around cut down theirs.

Going to sit near the fire with a pile of everyone's back issues of Bunty :D which wil make me want a bag of pick n mix.. foam shrimps.. coconut mushrooms.. jelly snakes.. etc. Ah well, I'll save the room for some of mig's veg stew which will do me more good.

Hello joan and good luck tomorrow with sue's xray! hope it's good news. Hope it's not too cold for her to go to the appt.

Oh I didn't get my item (book) I was bidding on thanks everyone, it was heading a bit high, so I forced myself to bow out & wait for another to come along.. (now it probably won't). Ah well.

Meant to post this the other day after the DIY episode -

I give you - still life with nosy tabby cat :D

(I'd put my lock in a box lid on the table, to avoid losing any bits, and Tiddles came to poke his nose in. It's like one of those old 'what is this viewed from an unusual angle' pictures, if you know what I mean. Teapots seen from above, clothes pegs in closeup, that sort of thing. Ok, I told you to expect incoherence. )

Barbara, has you GD decided what to do? Some of it can't be pleasant but it is a very important job. Just as well there are people like her who will do it. My boss and his wife only stayed 3 nights. They missed the lights the first night and it was very cloudy the other 2. Took me all day Monday to tidy up then they were back the next day. Glad you found the ring and ride. It'll get you about a bit more.

Thanks for the stew Mig. Sounds delicious made in the slow cooker.

Joan, I've got my fingers crossed that Sue's x-ray shows all is well and she can have the boot off.

Kath, oh no, not more wind. I so hope that is the end of the itching for you. Fingers crossed. I do that with my blackbird. I shake the packet of mealworms and, if he's around, he'll be there eating as I sprinkle.

Toady, cold places are not everyone's cup of tea. I don't like being too wrapped up either. I'm sure another book will come along soon. Good picture. I was wondering what it was till you told us.

Just realised I was supposed to phone up about my mobile phone bill. I recently got a new phone and changed tariff. They have charged me twice for 2 months now. I did phone up a couple of weeks ago and was told it would be sorted but it wasn't.

Barbara, a sing along on the bus sounds like a good idea. You've found a bucket of sweets? Must admit, I've still got bits and pieces still left. Good for your GD sticking with the job. That was good of them to pay her anyway. You're still having problems with your typing? How annoying for you.

Joan, at least Sue is getting there with her ankle. Shouldn't take too long now. Hope you areas well as you can be.

My boss's mum fell the other day and badly hurt her wrist but she is refusing to go and get it checked. She and my boss were arguing about it and it made me forget to get my wages. Went to see my dad this afternoon. He has accepted that he is staying in the home now. He's not entirely happy about it but has accepted it.

Hope everyone who hasn't been in is ok and not suffering.

Hello Barbara, Joan, Christine, Toady, mig, toni, and whoever else might pop in. Hope you are having a good weekend. :)

I haven't signed up to the birdwatch, otherwise it will read "3 piggins, 7 starlings, 1 blackbird." But I admit to being totally surprised and overjoyed to see a solitary Dunnock ferreting around beneath the bushes in the back garden. Hope he/she pays us more visits, I like Dunnocks. :D

Joan, WOW, £500. well done Sue. Wish we had room for a rowing machine, it might help me lose the 5lbs I've put on this last couple of weeks. Steroids - love the good effects they give me, but hate the weight gain, fat and squirrel features. :x

Christine, it must be a relief for you now your dad has at least accepted his situation. I suppose it's the best anyone can hope for. :?

Barbara, sounds fun, having a sing-song on the bus. Good job I wasn't there, I sound like a corncrake.

Well, although I still get a small amount of itching, I seem to mostly be having itch free nights - I'm grateful for small mercies. 8)

We had our usual veggie burger with onions at our friends burger stall this morning. They are so yummy.

I'm surviving so far...... The kids wanted a pizza as a treat so I ordered online and one box said do you want thin base with cheese/ without cheese/ thick base with/without cheese so I ticked without. I then got a phone call from the pizza company saying so you don't want any cheese on your pizza! Who doesn't want cheese on their pizza? of course I do, I thought they were asking about stuffed crust!!!

My Daughter rang this morning so we had a lovely long chat. She says she was actually in Claire Foy's drama class for A levels. My Daughter was a good actress (sorry if that sounds vain)but went off in another direction. I was so ill when she was taking exams I gave her very little support but I'm trying to make up for it now.

Glad your D is carrying on despite the grotty side to the job Barbara.

Hi Kath glad the itching has improved. I am terrible at the moment and now have scabs and scars all over my legs and arms.OH calls it the monkey on my shoulder!

I saw all 3 squirrels in the garden, they were chasing each other.

With OH away there's no one to moan about my snoring so I had a lovely sleep! Been watching CBB, and feel sorry for Nadia getting booed. She's just protecting people from being treated terribly IMO and nowt wrong with that. I'm all for people having their own opinions as long as they listen back but found the bitchiness by Katie H.upsetting.

I'm freezing here so off to make some hot water bottles ready for bed.

Barbara, I remember you saying the space bar wasn't working. Hope you're new laptop arrives soon. It was a lot warmer outside then I thought this morning.

Joan, wow, hasn't Sue done well with the rowing machine and raising all that money.

Kath, I'm sure I didn't actually sign up for the bird watch last year and I didn't this year. I'm counting tomorrow so will just post on the site when I'm done. I didn't have a single bird last year on the day but lots a few days later. Yes, it is easier for all of us now dad has accepted he's staying in the home. I think he still has a little hope of having his own house/flat sometime in the future. Gives him something to look forward to (sort of). Still got my fingers crossed that your itching stays away now.

Elizabeth, I can't imagine a pizza with no cheese. It's not vain at all to praise your kids. It wasn't your fault you were ill when your daughter was taking her exams. You can only do your best at the time. 3 squirrels? I've never seen more than 1 at a time. Glad you had a good sleep.

Feeling quite pleased with myself. Got up at a reasonable time, washed up the dishes from last night, put draught excluder round the 2 front doors and the bathroom window and sorted out the big basket in the bathroom with all the bath stuff, cleaning stuff etc. And all before 10.30am. Then took Mango out for a nice long walk. Got the courage to let him off the lead for a run around. I took his ball to take his mind off running home. it worked. Phew! Haven't sorted out my mobile phone bill yet. I checked my bank account and they've taken out less than it says on my bill. I think the next amount is due to be taken out in about a week so might wait and see what happens.

    Morning All :)

Elizabeth I totally relate to what you said about not being there for your daughter because you were ill. I haven't been there for Charley because Lucy has been ill. I am sure I remember you saying your daughter was good at drama before. Could you encourage her to sign up as an extra or something??

I am supporting Charley now and was so pleased that I could take her to her 1st interview for the ambulance service this last Weds :) She hasn't been settled since Lucy got ill. University is not for her methinks :?

As Mum's we do beat ourselves up. You are an excellent one in my opinion.

Joan - good news about Sue's foot and what an achievement £500!!! Help the heroes is a worthy charity :) Hope she enjoys getting back into her exercising.

Hello Christine :) Good that Mango didn't make a bid for home this time and that the ball worked. Hope Boss's Mum is on the mend. Good that your Dad has accepted where he is now bless him ((()))

KathT not too much itching! Good :) Night time would be the worst so touch wood eh? Those veggie burgers sound lovely - I want one ;)

Barbara our Toady is ebay expert!! Hope the new laptop arrives very very soon now because this one sounds a pain  Weather here is miserable looking, but not as cold as it has been at least. Is the ring and ride as good as our café bus???

    p065.gif

Toady Your pusskin was helping!!! :) I was after a yoga chair off eb*y, but it went too high so didn't win it either. Such is life eh ;)

Both of us will get what we want in time :)

Hi all, yep OH is back today. I've enjoyed my own space to be honest.

There were a few tears with the phone call, more directed at her Dad rather than me but she doesn't often open her heart. Toni I didn't even know what A levels she took until talking to her yesterday. I was struggling to get through each day.
Its understandable Lucy has had your full attention and Charley will fully understand. Uni's not for everyone most definitely and I'm a believer in moving on if possible (apart from Lucy and her violin. she wanted to give up early on but I said give it more time and she's turned out to be a naturel). I hope the interview with the ambulance service went well.Seeing her sister so ill might have given her an interest in helping others, I know an ex (in construction) wanted to become a paramedic after losing his kidney as it gave him such insight.

Must go as I think OH has just arrived home

Toni, university isn't for everyone. Being happy in what she does is more important, I think. I'm sure there will be another yoga chair along for you.

Barbara, how nice having the birds feeding in both gardens. I did the bird count today. Last time there wasn't a single bird but there were quite a few today.

Elizabeth, bet Lucy is glad now that you pushed her with the violin. Glad you enjoyed your space. It's not a bad thing to have a break from each other now and again so you can 'do your own thing'.

Did a bit more pottering in the house today. I wanted to go and visit my son and his family but kept getting texts and calls saying they were doing this and that during the day. Finally got there at 6pm for a couple of hours. Spent some of it in Ruby's little house I bought her for Xmas. She kept dragging me inside to sit with all her teddies. Then she made us a cup of tea and we done some jigsaws. My oldest GD was already in bed with her mobile phone because she was cold and my GS was in the other room playing on his game consul and chatting to his friends.

Oh well, one step forwards and two back. Thank you all for commenting on my relief from itching recently - but it came back again last night. Very sore and itchy skin, I think it must be some kind of vasculitis flare. Also had sinus problems and a cough overnight. It's all part of the same condition. Although I'm not sure which symptoms go with RA, RV and Sjogren's. :? All very similar.

Oh my goodness Barbara, what a shock. It's a good job it happened after she dropped the children off at school, it could have been a lot worse.

Elizabeth, looks like we are sisters under the skin - literally, sorry to hear that you're itching too. Do you know what is causing it?

It was raining her first thing, then the sun came out, but it has got quite dull and cloudy so feel we shall have some more rain eventually. Not quite as cold though. In the computer room, but don't need the halogen heater on today.

Think I will hover for a while and watch the birds out of the window. There are more here than at home. Will help myself to some toast and ma**ite and a coffee. Which reminds me - any of you heard about the ma**ite Easter Eggs? Not sure about those, :o
