Just popped back for another hot chocolate drink. Sunny but freezing here.

Christine, it was a suicide and it was the London to Sheffield train, so it wouldn't have stopped. He was fairly local and only 22. So terribly sad. :?

Hope all have a good weekend, it's supposed to become a bit milder tomorrow. Let's hope so.

Afternoon all..its a lovely day here..
Oh Kath that is awful, its the same her just around 100yeard away there is a railway bridge between stations ,and we get quite a few poor people jumping..and its nearly always young man like the one near you..so very sad..the people that live next to the bridge once talked someone out of it..and he was eternally grateful..if only they could talk to someone, thanks my face is down now..but my head.. hope yours is doing ok..
Christine ..fancy Mango howling at the screen like you say he will do it for you when he goes.. good job he doesn't know what coming..all that traveling..but they do look after the animals better that the humans really   good for you fitting the toilet seat they are so awkward, and hiding the hole in the door..I love looking for mistakes on the teletext...they must have to type fast like we do...
My bird feeder is a big success ..and the birds are all pairing off now for spring..2robins ..2 blackbirds and the little blue tits come in there droves..its lovely to see them..I keep trying to get a pic but they see me at the window..but will keep trying :D
Hope Toady's doing ok,and the meds didn't make her feel to poorly..or tired..will sit by the window and have a ponder...
    Love

Hello all.. just catching up with how we all are, mixed fortunes at the moment, glad Barbara is at least on the mend.. well I hope so.. and Kath is coping with the cold and the 'head' issues too, eyes/nose etc.. i'm sure there's a snotty smiley out there suitable for you, but for some reason I feel disinclined to google it :? . (But no itching last I can find?) And I hope joan and sue are warm now! It is cold enough here with the heating on, though that is down to my rackety old windows and not brilliant insulation. One day I fear the Govt coming round with a compulsory order to up my loft insulation, they are v hot on it aren't they.. they will have to get up there first.

Still quite tired but don't know entirely what to blame. Meds partly, also they may be on the verge of working less well I wonder; winter too and I suspect a vicious circle of being less active (ie sitting on the internet too much!) may have summat to do with it. Trying to go outdoors for a bit every day as I can't expect wonders if I get no daylight etc.. Bright here all day, doesn't half help compared to grey and blankety.

Hope TK has had some better nights since the beginning of the week, and that the school meeting went ok. Well done for making it into W**trose & hope the old freezer is coping ok even if you haven't bought too much for it. CBB final tonight, I am not holding out much hopes.

Applerose & others are being annoyed by children dropping litter - they annoy me full stop  last time I was at the docs a small boy deliberately went up to his sister in a pushchair & kept nudging her & poking her, completely ignoring his mother telling him not to wake her up. Made me so cross, & not even my business (children of the world, rejoice I'm not your mother :lol: )

Had my shopping delivered yesterday, so I'm stocked up, plenty bics, shortbread fingers &c. Still got some mint hot choc with choc bits in it, that goes well together if anyone wants to join me. :)

Was very pleased with the condition of my book when it arrived :) the reason I did well, is that it was listed in several places across the internet (firms seem to do that a lot), but where I bought it was cheaper than all the other possibles. I know it was 'the' copy as they took it off the other sites straightaway, not sure why the price difference but it was well in my favour. Well pleased. :D Wonder if barbara has recalled the site she uses? I've ordered 2 books today that I feel I have almost no hope of getting, I've got so disillusioned with firms not monitoring what's actually in stock properly. But at least I'm one up.

Very sad to read of the suicide near Kath, and that it is not uncommon in others' experience.:cry: I have to say, someone to maybe keep an eye on these areas and try to help may (in my opinion) be better than the street pastor schemes to help people coming out of the pubs at night. It is v difficult to legislate that everybody should be talked down for their own good but the opportunity to be helped should be there, it's just a very delicate judgment. Those we felt there would be an organised presence at a given place would likely go elsewhere. :(

On that note I'll go & sit by the fire I think in the quiet for a bit. Love to all. xx

Kath, only 22? That is terribly sad. It was quite warm here today too and the sun was shining. Pity I was stuck at work but good to know the weather will improve gradually now.

Barbara, I used to type really fast but no chance now. Can you imagine the mistakes we'd make on the subtitles? Could be quite funny. That's good having all the birds pairing off now. Means spring is on it's way. I find the same when I try to get pictures. The blackbird stays but the rest fly off. Hope your head feels a bit better.

Toady, I'm blaming my tiredness on lack of Vit D although I do have 2 20 minute walks to and from work and a half hour walk with the dog most days. Could also be too much sugar intake as I am overeating sweets and ice cream. Maybe I should give them up. yes, I think grey skies make me feel like going to bed too. Glad you got your book.

    A couple of ps's that I forgot:

That spelling mistake in the greeting card is shocking, applerose, I always think the same thing, that how didn't someone spot it along the way? :o I could spend half the day correcting mistakes on people's websites etc, but they would thank you to your 'face' and (I assume) call you a pedantic nitpicker with nothing better to do, behind your back. Also I think there's some sort of law that anyone correcting someone's spelling, will make a spelling or grammar mistake while doing so.

Also I meant to say, that did people hear that this year's flu vaccine is not very effective, not to scaremonger but just to be extra aware around flu-y folk that the jab may not be up to snuff & doing its job. :?

    Morning Everyone :)

Toady I heard that this year's flu vaccine hasn't been quite 'right' too. Didn't get time to have mine and Lucy refused hers (needles again).

Will this smilie do for KathT?

    Not too gross

    p010.gif

Can I try one of your hot choccies please???

    e015.gif

    Barbara
I heard that men - young ones too are more likely to commit suicide. So sad :(

I am so pleased to hear you are so much better. Antibiotics don't make you feel great do they? I drink a probiotic drink when I take them.

Did they take GD's baby teeth out?? They did for one of my friend's daughter so they could crack on with the brace. Timing of braces is crucial isn't it? Too late and they won't have it done!

    Enjoy your birds :)
Christine you will miss Mango very much when he goes and he'll miss you too, but his Mummy probably misses him even more :(

Your DIY skills are amazing!! A vent and new loos seat. New loo seats are harder than you imagine aren't they? The weather is karma....? Sounds like an audio mistake????

Hi Kath It's so very sad someone killing themselves like that :( We've got proper rain here today, my parents would have said 'It's persisting' down

I hope your head isn't too bad and I've left you some tissues :D

Joan You two do look cold :( Did Barbara say your heating was off?? I hope you're ok now? I've lit the fire in here for you

    h070.gif

Hi Elizabeth I hope you're doing ok?

Glad your Lucy is better, but not glad she said she didn't like you :( What I will say though is she most certainly does like you very much, but at that age we even 'breathe' wrong is Mums :(

Remember she loved your new hair?

Was the meeting at school for Daniel one of those silly days when they don't go in and you get a 10 minute apt with 'someone' to set 'targets'????

They used to annoy me because people would have to take the day off work and the kids got a lie-in and didn't get taught again!!!

Love to you all and hope I remembered everyone

    Morning all..cloudy at the min
toady its good to see you in the cafe ,only sorry you are suffering with the tiredness,I read about this so often on this forum, why don't you keep a diary and when you have had a walk write down how you feel later..go on you can say it more shattered...but you know what I mean.. :?
the books were from Abe books..I got an old Sunday school one from the 1940s I remember reading it when I was 11..and couldn't believe I tracked it down ,the story was about an old man that went around the streets with a barrel organ..and was very poorly and wanted to know what heaven would be like..very cheesy but it stuck in my mind..I have had a few books off them..they have lots of seller so you can get a good price...bet you wish you hadn't asked now.. hope you feel less tired soon and hopefully the meds are still doing there job..
Toni is good to see you in the Cafe ..how is the gym going.. :) my youngest son and I had one many years ago..but the multi machine was never put together properly  so it wore off, I still have my cross trainer..hope Lucy is keeping well..and you come to that.. :) no they didn't take her tooth out but took and Impression..
Joan I am hoping that heating is fixed..and you are both nice and warm
Christine..even the blackbirds fly away when I go to the window.. it wont belong before you can sit in the garden at work..on your break of course..my head isn't has bad thankyou..
Toady sorry thanks for telling us about the flu jab...I haven't seen the papers for a few days..that is all we need..its normally the baby that gives me these things..
The baby and her sister have just started with Chicken pox..is it shingles you can get form it.. so they are staying away for a while..
Very quiet here..no GC one is going into Manchester shopping and our eldest is taking it easy..she runs up and down three flights of stairs at work.. :) will go and look what biscuits there are in the tin.... :D

Hello Joan, Elizabeth, Barbara, Toady, Toni, Christine, miserable looking here, thick cloud and not much milder, so I'm disappointed really. :x

Joan, did your heating get fixed, hope you're beginning to feel warmer now.

Barbara, Abe books are good, and they usually tell you the condition of the book. We got an out of print local history book from there once.

Toni, love that smiley, although perhaps not quite graphic enough.

Toady, think I've told you before that one of my triping errors is putting toady for today, and sometimes vice a versa. :?

Christine, my goodness, how on earth do you manage to walk that far. Worn out just reading about it. Several years ago, when I was still working, I used to ride a bike. Couldn't do it now. d080.gif

Bought a box of mixed flavoured cuppa soups. Help youselves. :D

Taking a leisurely pace as my left leg is very painful and fatigue has grabbed me by the throat. Had my lovely lie-in and tea and buttered toast in bed with my meds. Hoping for a repeat performance tomorrow morning.

The school meeting was for 45 mins Toni but very productive. So I was happy. But when i got home I did some housework and then crashed in bed. I could not move an inch.

Lucy is not yet in her teens but has such an attitude. She is not yet organised and I'm trying to help her along but nothing is good enough. A lot of it is anxiety which makes her snap but she won't be able to treat her friends in the same way otherwise she won't have any!

Barbara you must keep well away from chicken pox.

I'd welcome some KARMA weather right now Applerose. Glad you fixed the door as that would be letting in the cold. I bet you will miss Mango. I do think once on the plane its best to keep him until the final destination with no changes

CBB was a bit of disappointment in the end after all the earlier weeks of disputes. I wanted Nadia to win but she left a long time ago....

So sad when anybody decides enough is enough and they are better off jumping under a train or off a building. How bad must life be for some people.

Joan and Sue lovely to see you. Are you nice and warm now?

Take care all and have a lovely Saturday evening

Toady, yes I heard about the flu jab. They said it would still help some strains but not the main one it was supposed to keep at bay. Hopefully everyone can stay away from that one. :?

Toni, yes my daughter does miss Mango. The kids do too and sometimes they phone him on their toy phones or ask if they can skype him. I had forgotten how awkward toilet seats were to fit. Took me a while but I go with slowly but surely these days. The 'karma' weather was on the subtitles at the bottom of the screen so someone must have been using auto-correct when typing. Hope you and Lucy and the the rest of the family are having a good weekend.

Barbara, how wonderful to find a book from Sunday school. It's things from back then that bring back memories of our childhood. Glad your head is a bit better. Yes you get shingles when you are older. It's a shame not to see your GC but it's best. Your GD will be very fit with all that running up and downstairs. It was my eldest GD's 13th birthday on Thursday so she is going shopping with mum tomorrow.

Joan I hope your heating is working properly now and you both get warm soon. It does take a while when you've been cold.

Kath, I used to run half marathons and go to exercise classes so was very fit. I think that's the reason I can still do so much. My feet do hurt all the time and sometimes I do hobble with my knees and ankles but I'm determined to at least keep walking. People who live near me have never understood why I walk the 10 minutes to our High St when they take the bus.

Elizabeth, things not so good for you at the moment. Hope you do get your lie-in with breakfast tomorrow. I'm sure Lucy is just going through the normal teenager stage. My eldest GD has just turned 13 and she has been a 'madam' for a year or so.

I'm watching Take Me Out. Did anyone see it? One man didn't get a date at all. All the girls switched their lights off. Then one of the girls burst out crying. She was upset for him. The next man's ex-girlfriend was in the line-up. Another girl said 'Sorry but he's my boyfriend now.' They were the only 2 with lights left on so had to choose one of them. He chose his ex.

Went in to town today to see if B*yes had the Sk*tchers I want in the sale. They didn't. I could really do with a new pair. I did find some drawing pencils and a sketch book and a small jigsaw for my dad. He needs more things to do as he's bored. And I bought a pole (one of those you twist to lengthen it and tighten it against the wall) to hang a curtain over my back door to try and keep the draught out but it's an inch too big.

    Breakfast Christine!!!!!!!!!

    thanks..yum yum!

    Seriously they are lovely :)

Christine I bet Mango will love being 'home' bless him with his family. I am sure your Dad will appreciate having things to do now.

Come on now with your DIY skills you can easily fix your pole...only joking that would be pushing it wouldn't it?

Oh Elizabeth!! You overdid it  I hope yesterday's lie-in helped a bitand that you got one today.

I am pleased that you had a good meeting though.

Lucy probably treats her friends well! It's us Mums on the receiving end of their anxieties and frustrations.

KathT I often put Toady instead of today!! Glad I'm not the only one.

Remember my classic one Barbara? Spelling 'shift' wrong  It became a forum word for a while instead of swearing!!

Thanks for the soups I will have one later. I hope that your nose is a bit better now you poor thing ((()))

Joan I hope you are both warm now? Have you got a bath that you can use? Baths can really warm you through when you've got proper cold. Showers always seem to leave 'chilly bits'

Barbara - it's so upsetting for kids when they can't start their braces - they want them on so much!! I hope that baby tooth disappears soon :(

I also hope you don't get shingles. Problem is it's about 12 days incubation so easy to pass on before you even know :(

I have to be extra careful with Lucy about shingles. She actually had them at 11!!! Our vigilant pharmacist spotted them - I know she was very young, but with the chemo it could be worse if she gets them again.

The gym is all finished I think my sister is going to do me some appropriate art-work. :) I got the cross trainer with my nectar points the physio said it's really good as it does your core muscles and no impact :)

I hope this fog goes away soon :(

Oops, please don't eat the daffodils. Wonder if I can rig the pole up for pole dancing. It could go in the corner of the cafe for us all to use. I can't remember the 'shift' mistake. Oops! Was it a long time ago? You're looking good on the cross trainer Toni. We've got sunshine here so better get up and make the most of it.

Toni I do remember the shift word... :lol:like you say they still use it. I have made a few blunders..one when we were talking of milking the cow at the cafe..and I explained how it was done but called it a him    poor Lucy having shingles at 11..its always this time of the year...how lovely that your sister is doing some art work on your gym..send us a pic when its done :)
Christine. its nice of you to find something for your dad to do especially drawing :) hopefully he will enjoy it... :) I missed take me out...if my GD had been here we would have watched it, but OH grumbles all the way through it..fancy the man picking his ex.. the teenage thing I had forgot about and didn't have much of it with 2 boys..but I see it in the girls.. :o my middle one is 14 in March the one having braces...so not much in them..sorry the pole was to long..I know the ones you mean
Elizabeth ..you are having a bad time..it must be so hard with Children to look after..hope you feel less tired very soon ..and glad the school meeting went well ...
Kath Abe books are brilliant for there searches..its fascinates me how they have so many sellers ..at onetime without the net it wasn't possible :) I was another one that used to walk a lot and ride my bike...
Joan so glad your heating is fixed..bet you are still feeling the cold after all that time..hope you both have a good weekend

Whoo hoo, Daffodils, very tasty with a bacon butty. Seriously, thanks for the breakfast. I know it's a bit late, so I made it an all day breakfast. :D

I've posted this on the poetry thread, but will put it here for you as well:

    For those on Prednisolone

I've a question for all those on Pred,
how to cope with the craving for bread?
    Are you like me
    sitting on the settee
    as you watch the TV,
    with a plateful of sandwiches
    there on your knee?

And then of course there is pizza,
    cheese and onion, tomato, Chorizo.
    it isn't a crime
    whenever you dine
    just take your time
    with a crispy side salad
    with flavours sublime.

But sometimes it's crisps that I need,
my desire for those carbs I will feed.
    I should have pineapple,
    orange or apple
    as I get to grapple,
    with weight I have gained
my efforts are really quite laughable!!

Toni, don't overdo it on the cross trainer.

Haven't done this for many a year: h020.gif

That's my exercise done for the time being. Nice and sunny here, but very cold. Off to see the rheumy nurse tomorrow. Wish me luck. xx

Barbara, I must have a look at Abe books. it sounds like an interesting site. We had fog the other day but just sunshine today. Wasn't too cold either.

Joan, I haven't had a bath in a couple of years. I can get in ok but getting out is another matter. Hope you are warm now.

Thank you for the poem Kath. You are good with words. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow.

Been to my son's today and played at making ice cream and fried egg in my youngest GD's play oven, played at racing round the room with her trying to bounce on a balloon   while we watched Peppa Pig and her friends do the same. My eldest GD is growing up too quickly. Just had her 13th birthday and looks like a young woman now with her jeggings and make-up on.

Hope the others are doing ok and have had a good weekend.

Kath I love the poem, you are very clever... :) you keep on writing the poems ...
When we use to take our GC to the park I was always tempted by the swings... but someone would have to get me on and off..
Joan I am glad you have the shower..at least you could do that..hope you are both nice and toasties now.. :D
Christine..bet you was shattered..but happy after playing with your GC ..its the same here with the little one peppa pig..I know every episode...

Did anyone read in the paper about the old lady that was killed with a van, and then robbed..its was a mile and half from here.. I just cant get my head round this...apparently a man stopped and took her belongings ,not sure what and people were taking pics on there phones and posting them on Facebook...this poor lady was someone mothers and Grandma..what a way to find out she had been killed.. :x :(

Hello everyone, glad you enjoyed the poem. Sunny here, but still very cold.

Barbara, OH told me about the poor lady being robbed. Taking photos is disgusting. Some people have no morals or conscience. :x

Christine, I don't even have a bath. Social Services took it out and replaced it with a walk in shower. Sometimes wish we still had the bath, even though I couldn't use it, but it would have been lovely to just put a little water in and soak my feet. 8)

Appointment went pretty well. Bloods all ok, but I have to keep my eye on my blood pressure. Luckily we have our own BP machine at home, so can do it at any time. They were hoping to reduce my steroids to 7.5, but decided to leave it at 10mg for another 3 months - which is when I'm due to go back. But they have reduced my Leflunomide from 20mg to 10mg and increased MTX from 20ml to 25ml. Which apart from Pred, is where I was before cancer treatment. Oh yes, I've put on 5lbs since before Christmas. :?

    For those on Prednisolone

I've a question for all those on Pred,
how to cope with the craving for bread?
    Are you like me
    sitting on the settee
    as you watch the TV,
    with a plateful of sandwiches
    there on your knee?

And then of course there is pizza,
    cheese and onion, tomato, Chorizo.
    it isn't a crime
    whenever you dine
    just take your time
    with a crispy side salad
    with flavours sublime.

But sometimes it's crisps that I need,
my desire for those carbs I will feed.
    I should have pineapple,
    orange or apple
    as I get to grapple,
    with weight I have gained
my efforts are really quite laughable!!

    I love it KathT

Lucy is on dexamethasone and that poem!!! It's her for the on week a month

4 slices of toast is what she eats
extra think buttered white it is
    Add to that some cheese
and a tin of hei*z baked beans
she can eat 3 eggs of cream
All this done with relative ease
before she dives into a packet of sweets

Glad your rheumy apt went ok :)

Ah Joan showers are WAY more practical, but I do think baths warm you up more :) Hope you are all well at your house :)

    Barbara

I hope your undercoating went ok and you didn't overdo it.......that poor poor lady that is dreadful I really hope it's not true :(

I remember your cow milking escapades!!!! hehehe :)

Aw Christine I love playing cooking and shops with wee kids :) They are adorable that age :) They do seem to grow up fast these days don't they? Lucy showed me a piccie of a 13 year old on face book and she looked 23!!!!

A pole dancing pole?? Us???? :?

Ok we'd better give that some thought :)

    Love to you all
