hi Christine Mig Joan and anyone else who has popped in for a cuppa or a lie down (the latter sounds like a good idea to me).

You did see a flasher, I did see Mac, lurking. Train him up to be a nurse, best not and as for licking into shape   Hope you had a good time shopping and got everything that you wanted.

Went into town with in laws for a coffee, it was so cold, wind howling, as it has been all night and day. Couldn't be bothered to go into the supermarket, said we had enough to live on for a day or two. Getting out of the car and freezing again, was a no go. It does make your body hurt Joan, sends my back into spasm. Too cold in winter and lathered all summer, there is no happy medium.

Home, heating on, pus cats all asleep, us we have tennis on from Dubai. Window cleaner was here when we got back, I said, now it will rain, seeing as the windows are all sparkling -- what did it do half an hour later, poured down  s060.gif Some cranberry and orange muffins for all. Take care XXX Bubbles

Hello Barbara, Bubbles, cate, christine, Elizabeth, Joan, mig, toady, toni, and anyone I might have forgotten.

Phone fixed, we lost t'interweb for about an hour, but all is working again now. Phew! :)

We had mackerel today, with fresh tomatoes, chips and beans. Just had more soup, but it wasn't chicken, so can mention it without anyone getting hungry. :D

Bubbles, that's always the way. Windows washed, and it rains. Our window cleaners are back to front. They clean the downstairs windows first and the upstairs after, so all the grime from upstairs drips down to the bottom window ledges.

Joan, the cold does make your body hurt. I think it's because you tense up and shiver. Brrrr. :x

mig, I love bon marche, I have a lovely bed jacket and pyjamas I got from there last year.

Christine, thank you for the Yorkies, I'm munching one now - with some of cate's preserve on it, and one of Bubble's muffins. :P

Mig, did you get your new pjs? A barbecue place for lunch? I've not seen one of those before. How was it? It's the same here with the bus passes. Most drivers do charge before 9.30 but now and again, the driver will tell the passenger to sit down till it's past then they scan the pass.

Joan, I know what you mean about the cold. My neck and fingers hurt a lot in the cold although I get too hot if I wrap up.

Bubbles, I could do with a lie down at any time of day or night. We had the howling wind yesterday but a bit calmer today. It's nice to be able to get out. I always check in the window of C*sta when I pass after work, hoping there's someone I know so I have an excuse to go in.

Kath, my internet went a few days ago. There was a problem at their end. I'd phoned up (India) who said he'd send an engineer out and refund me my money. I got a text the next day saying the engineer had been cancelled as they had fixed it. I do get panicky without it. Just wondering if I'll still get my refund.

Barbara, my rheumie told me there were over 300 types of arthritis, most have similar symptoms so it is very difficult sometimes to know which one we have. Doesn't help us though. We like to know, don't we? So have they suggested treatment?

I think I'm getting worse. Went to T*sc* this afternoon. Came out and had 10 minutes to wait for the bus. I saw it coming down the road and it had the right number on it and was about on time so on I got. The bus sat for about 5 minutes which I thought was a bit unusual. Then a bus past us and turned a short way down the road for the return journey and, just as the bus I was on set off, I noticed the other bus was the one I should have been on. Too late to catch it and an hour till the next one so I decided to stay on. Wasn't sure if I should stay on till it returned but that would be an hour and a half round trip so I got off in town for an hour. Ended up buying sausages and daffodils in Marks, big pants in Pr*m*rk and teabags and coffee in the pound shop before an hour's journey home.

Very mild here... :) getting winter over with nicely
Oh poor Christine there is nothing worse then getting on the wrong bus especially after work...good thinking staying on it at least you would have been warm ..till you got off..and got your big pants  ...its so lovely to see the daffs in the shops.. :D like you say this arthritis is so complex...I had scarlet fever has a child and they think that the joint pains then were rheumatic fever ..that you can get after scarlet... :?
Cate sorry meant to mention the post nasal drip you mentioned..I did google it...its similar that I am constantly coughing ..suppose its a side effect of sinusitis...
Today I will be spring cleaning...I wish.. but will do some catching cobwebs... :balloon:
The kettle is on and the fire is burning nicely...will see you later.. :jheart:

Morning Barbara. Not too bad a day here either ... so far. I had to go out and sweep up the bird food that was left on the path as Mango was eating it and it didn't feel too cold. I meant to mention the post nasal drip too. I've often mentioned a tickly cough to the doctor to be told it's a post nasal drip after a cold. Even though I've had it non-stop for years. It is only a slight cough I have, mainly in the morning. I'm using up my last day's holiday for this year as it finishes at the end of this month. Wonder what I'll get up to today. Thanks for leaving the kettle on Barbara. Think I'll have one by the fire while I think.

Hello all, it's been lovely here, actually went out without my hat and gloves on. :D Gone very dull and miserable now though. :!:

Christine, think I'll join you by the fire and have a cuppa with you. Don't worry, I won't start a discussion about post nasal drip - I get that too.

Barbara, I hope the sinus rinse works for you. I really don't fancy it myself, but might have to if mine doesn't clear up soon. It's nowhere near as bad as your though. :?

Christine, the internet was OK once the phone line had been fixed. I began to feel quite anxious with no phone - well not receiving calls anyway. I didn't realise how dependent I was on it. What an adventure you had. I did that on the train once. Ended up in Alfreton in Derbyshire. I had to catch a train back to where I started, the catch the next train home. Luckily I didn't have to pay any extra.

The MTX company has just rung to see if I got my delivery last Friday. A bit odd leaving it until today, they could have checked on Friday afternoon. Still it proved that the phone is working properly.

I hope everyone is feeling okayish.

Christine sorry I missed you this morning is it your day off..its strange what you can be left with after a cold..if this pain in my head goes I dont mind the cough..are you still suffering from it..the nurse at our GPs said there have been some strange viruses about last year and this year..fancy Mango eating the bird food..we use to call our little dog and hoover..for picking everything up :balloon:
Kath..I have sent for a Nettie pot..think that is what it is called and salts that you put into warm water..I will let you know how it goes..I bet the meds company were scared of ringing till today..glad you get them...

'Lo people, just a quick visit, haven't read back 100% (I know you don't mind), but I've got the gist of how folks are doing.. definitely crossing assorted things for barbara and hope for progress! No major answers from the rheumy it seems, except they are 'thinking' of fibro.. all well & good saying it's hard to id what sort of arthritis someone has out of the 300-odd, but if they have identified 300-odd, that implies each one has something to identify it - so why so hard?

Still dithering over my appt, the annoying thing is that initially it seemed like I may want to bring my original one forward - in the end I hung on & it would now be fine, IF they hadn't cancelled. Will have to do something as the other is far too far ahead, in that if I feel no better til then, that's half the year gone west. Ah well, will have to ring I suppose.

Seems to be a shortage of beds in here  so I'll have to wait my turn.. you'd think we'd be private, & have better facilities. At least the catering is good.

Weather all over the place here, few flakes of snow on Mon & lovely & sunny today. Felt quite ok for an hour or so, then energy dropped like a stone - that's how it seems to go. Duff batteries.

Hope TK is alright, everyone else is accounted for I think.

Glad bubbles' cats are fine and enjoying 'their' new bed (well they're bound to think you bought it for their benefit). Neighbours have collar & belled their cat in readiness for Spring, some hope, he would have to be done up like a Morris dancer to stop him mousing. :? Thanks for the muffin. :)

I love your doorknocker story so much I can't tell you, applerose.:lol: Have both, hopefully unwanted callers won't be able to decide which to use & go away (hah). Hate salesmen knocking on the window. If I'm in that room, & I haven't heard you knock on a door 2 feet further away, then where's your logic.

Joan I can't swallow any tablets unless they're tiny ones, but I used to be able to, so it's all down to my neck I reckon. Does make things difficult doesn't it when things come in big capsules.

Glad Kath has her phone line back, good job your phone acting up did not cause you any more of a problem - as you may not have realised some calls were not coming in. Glad clinic was ok. :)

If I sit in a quiet corner maybe mig will act as A*on lady and let me try some of her nice things. :D I used to be happy as a sandboy browsing in our local B**ts, then it went very 'off' for having nice things, & shut altogether - now we have a new smaller one with very uninspiring stuff.

Not sure what the soup theme is but I have a tin of chicken & mushroom that tes** bought last time (should have been just mushroom, didn't notice) - so someone will have to have that, whether they like it or not.

Love to all and kettle is, as ever, just coming nicely to the boil. xxx

raining here but mild..why do we have to have rain when it warms up..
Got some spring cleaning done yesterday...you would laugh if you saw me sat on my high stool with the hoover on low power and long hose grabbing the cobwebs...Miss Havershams had nothing on this house
toady I feel so blessed I haven't got an inflammatory arthritis..not sure what to make of it all..you ring up for that appointment they don't think anything of cancelling them..now here they just don't send them... so I am on first name terms with three Secretary's.. 8) funny you should mention Av*n i have jst received a book after 2years of the last one..just wish I knew what there perfumes were like I remember when they would come with a big box and let you try everything..
Wounder how Toni and Lucy went on yesterday at the house of commons they were being met by our MP..
right I'm off for a cuppa before more cobweb catching...

Hello Bubbles Kathleen Barbara Christine Toady and anyone else I missed.
our fortnight as been Sue's carers wanting money we were told not to pay because of being on pension credit and not having enough saving now we have paid some they said her care would stop social ser have said they will pay in time. pepper who has a chest infection got the tv remote they sent us a new one it wont work. yesterday the freezer stopped working we only found out by seeing ice cream on the floor.
I feel worn out crying and trying to laugh at things wondering what else could go wrong. I used to help sue but I have not got the strength anymore I suppose it's age.
I hope you all have had a better time.

Oh bless you Joan. Everything happens at once doesn't it? I expect somebody has made a mistake with the carers and if you phone them they should clarify things. If nothing has changed with your finances then yoou shouldn't have to pay.

My freezer broke too and we are awaiting the repair man to contact us as it is still under warranty.

I have had a strange day. I heard my Direct payments had been stopped by a lady who is reviewing us today. Without a review how can a decision to stop payments be made? She is due round in a minute and luckily I am awake enough (first time this week) to handle this and have sent them an email. I am extremely cross.

Good news, the carers who used to come and care/babysit now agree we can have a carer without having to get a separate carers/babysitter for the other children after all. I had been unable to go out anywhere because of this.

So I'm about to do battle so wish me luck

    Afternoon everyone.

Barbara, I'd never heard of Neti Pots before. Just watched this video of folk using them - have fun. :loverain:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofUvgRTOGVY

Elizabeth, sounds like you have quite a battle on there - good luck. :balloon:

Joan, I'm so sorry to read your catalogue of bad things happening. You don't need any of this. I hope things get sorted out soon. :broken:

Toady, I'm just the opposite, I can't swallow tiny tablets - they disappear in the gaps between my teeth. So steroids are a nightmare as they dissolve and taste disgusting. Much prefer larger tablets, unless they are like bullets and they won't go down.

Hope everyone not mentioned are OK. I've just the usual aches and pains now, but this morning my head felt fit to burst.

Spare bed now, if anyone needs it. Going to have a cuppa and another muffin. :D

Just popped back in. Hello Kath. I'm glad to see there is a spare bed in the cafe!

The meeting went very well and I think things are now looking up as not one but two possibilities for a break!

Joan I should have said just let the remote control people know it doesn't work and they need to send another one asap.

I really hope you can be reimbursed for the carer money as I'm sure it is needed to pay for other things.
PM me if you need any help with contacting anyone.

Poor Joan you are having a bad time, but dont foget you have all of us to talk to..I hope Peppers chest infections clear up very soon.. and hopefully they sort the cares money ..this worry shouldn't be on you and Sue..you could get onto social services for a freezer if you are on pension credit..they sometimes have very good second hand ones they can supply..unless things have changed since my late father got one..and like Elizabeth says get onto the remote people they will change it...no wounder you feel worn out...((()))
Elizabeth..so glad you have got the cares back ...but then they mess up the money hopefully that is sorted..you have enough to deal with..
Kath I have got the pot but not used it yet ..will let you know how it goes..I did ask the chemist about them and they are in favour..but it has to be really clean and water out the kettle..
Mig..it feels cold here but haven't been out yet..sorry you didnt sleep well we now have separate bedrooms...there isn't room for 2 singles so needs must..
Today I have booked ring and ride and meeting a friend that is not good on her feet so we go at the same pace :D ..hope you all have a good dayxxxx

Very cold here and there was frost on the ground. However I've got a couple of windows open to air the house.

the lady has gone away to do her report but she did seem to understand the situation better having done her review. The trouble is the rules keep changing. they now tell people they cannot use the money for the playschemes and that they must use DLA for that purpose. the clubs can cost £25-£35 per day so I can image those families struggling will not be able to afford it like before.

I am feeling much more awake today but as the weekend is ahead I'll try and get a sleep.

hope everybody is well and families and pets are coping. I will have to go back and read the doorknocker story now.

haha Applerose! as our doorbell doesn't work everybody uses our door knocker so I won't make the same mistake as you.

    Good morning everyone,

It's a lovely sunny day, but a cold wind rather spoiling things.

Joan, I really feel for you with all you have going on. Have you contacted any of the charities to help you? Age UK or similar. As for Pepper - dog, cat? - do you have a PDSA for free vet care? When you are on your own, things are so much harder to deal with.x

Elizabeth, you sound as if you took no nonsense - in the nicest possible way of course! - to get what you need. I was told recently during a hospital stay that you have to shout to get anything done.

Christine, the door knocker story made me laugh. Put one on your back door. It reminded me that we probably have at least two of a lot of things in the garage. My late hubby and I used to love going to car boot sales, and the stuff he bought was unbelievable. He'd say "that's a bargain, it will come in handy one day". Mind you, I was as bad, only with girly things.

Mig, when my son's are home, they love lamb shanks done in my crock pot, resting on a heap of creamy mashed potatoes. All the sort of grub they grew up on. Their wives frown a bit, but they ignore them, and anyway they look flipping good on it.

I've just bought a small Tassimo coffee machine. They are normally £99.99 but T**co have them for £35. Got some pods ready, but haven't worked it out yet. People I know rave about them, and I do love coffee.

I'll have some tea and toast, then tip Kath out of bed......Cate.x

SNOOOORRREEEE - oi, cate, you are a one

Sunny but very cold here. Got my review letter from Rheumy from my appointment on 9th February. Also got review letter from chest consultant, which was this Monday - spot the difference in the time scale. My liver function has improved, dropped from 73 to 65. Very pleased about that.

mig, dumplings go with everything. Sounds delicious. :P Sorry you had a bad night. My OH snores, it's a wonder he doesn't keep the neighbours awake too. :?

Elizabeth, watch that cate, she'll tip you out of bed before you know it.

Got up late today. 7am - 7am!! That' almost midday to us.

Elizabeth thank you for your help with the carers sue has a letter to say she does not have to pay it's just its took so long for them to work it out.
Cate when sue first broke her leg I asked ag u for help they said because I live with my sister I should do everything for her I used to but I have got weaker and I cannot take her trousers on and off with her led on the bed.

Hello everyone, just passing.. I am having a coffee with some breakfast biscuits  and chunks of plain chocolate. (Shopping due when I get round to it so I am at the scuffling in the cupboard for odds & ends stage).

Joan, so sorry things are tough and I think the fact you were told you should be doing so much for sue is extremely unsympathetic, given who the remark came from, you'd think better of them. :( All my things always go wrong in the way you say, one thing after another, & really makes unnecessary problems, especially when it's things breaking down when they wouldn't if they were made properly. I expect things to last like they used to. Poor Pepper, I hope things improve quickly - awful when pets are poorly. xxx

Hope barbara had a good outing & time with her friend (any shopping?) I do like your housework methods. :)

Glad your liver marker is improved Kath :) yeees I believe the rheumy slow response time, our dept is really struggling at the seams and I dread it will implode one day & I'll be sent elsewhere. Have just tried to remake my next appt, right hoohah  probably will not be right now either.

Hope your meeting yields something useful TK, yet again, extra rules & regs to grasp that is people need to get their heads around. Glad you're having a pretty ok day & hope the weekend is too.

Have just missed out on a buy it now item on e*ay because I wavering over the price & someone else nipped in. It was from the US & the post was more than the item, but it always turns out I'm quibbling over a very few pounds, so can someone give me a slap and tell me 'toady, stop dithering!' Thank you.

Sorry mig didn't get the full sleep quota (mind you, too much is bad for you now too  ) - maybe Cate will whip us up something with her whizzy new machine to perk us up. :)

Have a good Sat & Sun all. xx

I'm sure I came in here last night but can't find my post. Maybe I just hid in the corner.

Barbara, are you a lady who brunches? It's a good idea, I think. Sounds as if the netty pot is working.

Toady, sorry you lost your item. I'm the same sometimes. I'm sure there'll be another one turns up.

Joan, you've been having such a terrible time. I'm glad Sue doesn't have to pay. Hope you get your money back. How terrible of them saying you have to do everything for her. Poor Pepper, hope she gets better very soon. And that you get a new remote and freezer. No wonder you are feeling worn out.

Elizabeth, your freezer is broken too. Hope you get yours fixed quickly. Will they refund you for lost food? I think that must be wrong to stop your money without the review. I'd be cross too. Glad yoou've got the carer sorted out.

Kath, glad your liver function is better. Two dogs I was dog sitting at different times dug through my back door so I asked on freecycle if anyone had one. Only one person got back to me with a front door so I now have that on the back, complete with letter box. So, it would be a good idea to put the other door knocker on the back door.

Mig, my gran used to make broth with lamb shanks and then we would have the meat with lots of mashed potatoes. Delicious.

Well I didn't get my wages yet again today. My boss and his wife have apparently gone to Spain for a couple of days on business. I'll get it on Monday but how do they know I'm not desperate for it now? It's been a lovely sunny day. I came out of work and who was working in the garden opposite but my ex-husband (he does garden work). After I'd been to visit my dad about a mile and a half away, I called in to the Chinese takeaway and while I was waiting, guess who walked in. Yes, my ex-husband again. The only time I normally see him is when we are both at my son's for a birthday. One of my sisters is at it again. I reposted something on FB about cigarette smoke affecting children's health and she started having a go saying people should be allowed to smoke and that she wasn't so stupid as to smoke next to children and anyway car fumes are worse. :? Was thinking of having a lie down but scared I get tipped out of bed. And it's the weekend. Yaaaay! Hope everyone has a good one.
