Hello Barbara, Joan, Christine, Toady, Toni, cate, mig, and any other cafe dwellers that might be around. Hope you are having a good-ish weekend.
First the bad news. Yes, mouth is sore again. I've had a couple of days leaving off my Seretide and Ventolin, but no improvement, so restarted them. Read something about Spiriva, so I'm going to leave that off for the rest of the week. Sinuses were bad last night, and my skin feels like it is burning (better than itching? About the same) Hip and back pain getting bad too.

Now for the good news (yes, there is some). Emily subscribes to a magazine for those into retro furniture etc. They are going to do a piece about her and her home later in the year. She will send me a copy of it when it's out. I'll let you know. :D

Some time ago I wrote a poem called "I got the blues" hoping to make it sound like a blues song. As I'm no good at reading or writing music, it stayed as a poem and I put it on a poetry website I used to belong to. Recently I was contacted by a chap who wanted to turn it into a song. I said yes, and he has sent me a rough version, but he intends to add in more instruments and have it recorded. I wonder if we ill ever hear it on the radio? He's used all my words, but just re-jigged them a bit.

Oh Joan, naughty Lexi. I hope you didn't hurt yourself. Glad you got up in time for the carers, and glad you can laugh about it now.

mig, I thought the sewing machine was a Sin*er but daughter said it's a Jon*s. Soup, any flavour, is my very favourite thing.

Toni, a bit of emotional blackmail never hurt, especially when raising money for a good cause.

Barbara, would love to see your photos of retro stuff.

Hello all, just a quick call - glad to read that joan is ok after the dog bed incident! hope you didn't catch yourself anywhere and bring up a bruise. I would feel a bit funny someone having a key too, I leave one with neighbours but that's only for emergencies. The day I nearly got locked out they weren't at home so it didn't help much! I don't have a cold thankfully, I only meant that it was cold weather but it sounded like I do, I didn't put it very well - but thanks so much for your concern :) it's very kind.

Barbara I haven't booked in for a jab but it's nice to have the option. They don't like you having too many of course so I'll spin it off if poss. Have had a couple of reasonable days, & been taking off a bit of wallpaper today. Pea green paint underneath. :?

Everyone's retro stuff is very interesting! I have some nice old tins with things in, in the garage, have probably parted with things someone would like. Will watch out for the next mention of the magazine article, Kath :) and let us know if you end up on yout**e or it**es! Sorry about the sore mouth. :(

I have brought croissants and apricot jam, but I see my catering is starting to sound rather butter-y and unhealthy, good job mig has brought lovely tomato soup - I'd better say that there are big bags of salad in my fridge as well and yogurt and so on. But the cake was very nice frog! You are doing so well with the fundraising. I love the eb*y checkout thing & surely charities must do well out of it, it would be interesting to know the figures, yes.

I will be going 'live' sort of with the reworked photo thread this week hopefully, just to let you know, this 'version' will be a locked one but bits can be edited in if anyone wants additional info, or can always pm me of course.

Still chilly, haven't looked at the forecast - clocks will change before we know it! :D xx

Cate, Mango went up to Fife last Sunday to stay with my son-i-l's parents for a few weeks. He is flying from Glasgow and the vet up there had already done some vaccinations and tests so it was better for him to go back to the same vet for the rest.

Toady, I love egg and chips with bread and butter. Think I need to have that for tea tomorrow now. Think I'll have a cuppa and a slice of your sponge seeing as I can eat the cafe ones. The Whisper went really well. There were 3 girl clowns (not in the least scary) who carried the message from town to town. Not sure who started it. Everyone lined up and passed it from one person to the next. Took from 8am till 9pm on both Friday and Saturday. The crew filming Benefit Street are called Love Productions. The crew who filmed all of us was called Lovelier Productions and they got their film out first on Youtube.

Kath, what a lovely cabinet your daughter has. And the sewing machine. I had one a lot of years ago. Loved it. Wow, how fantastic to have an article about her house. And you are to have your poem made in to a song. And your dil on tv. What a famous family you will be. You're having a bad time again with your mouth and skin. Hope it clears again soon. Just noticed your other photos. How wonderful.

Toni, have you not seen the first Marigold Hotel? That's good too and will tell you about how everyone came to be there. If you send me a link for FB, I'll pop on and say hello. I'm sure people will want to know about Lucy's progress.

Mig, that's a good idea using the O*O pots in the tomato soup. I'll have to try that.

Oooh ouch Joan. I do hope you didn't hurt yourself when you fell over. Glad you got up ok although it sounded a struggle. Barbara mentioned giving the carers a key. My dad had a special box fixed to the outside of the house next to the front door where a key was kept. The carers were given a number to put in to open the box to get the key.

Barbara, have you still got those things? Love the tv and all those boxes. I will click on the pics after I post because that's how I've lost posts before.

I've had a lovely day today. Spoke with my daughter and my GC this morning then went out for lunch with my son and other GC. Arrived home to find a box of flowers on the doorstep. Hope you have all had a lovely Mothers Day.

    Hello everyone,

I'm loving all the retro stuff. Some of the things that we've casually chucked away over the years seem to be in demand nowadays, for a lot of money. Recently my son bought a standard lamp in London for a ridiculous price, because it reminded him of one he loved when he was little.........and cost us less than a fiver! I imagine there's lots of treasures in my garage, which have been added to over many years. I don't think we've ever used it to put the cars in. Same with the loft, which I don't risk these days......not put the car in, just the rubbish!

Lovely FaceTime with my girlies yesterday. The youngest one - sixteen months - was still holding on to her mummy's card. Every time my son told her to give it to mummy, she said "Mine". I got some lovely flowers and Godiva chocs, which are lovely. The thrifty bit of me thinks I could have got two boxes of Cadbury's for what they paid for ten chocs. But then I'm as common as muck! Oh, I also got a classy holder for my coffee pods.

Went to the local retail park earlier, but not really happy driving any more. My neck and shoulder pain makes maneuvering really difficult, and I don't feel safe.

Can't make up my mind about Poldark. It's good, but I think the first one was better. This Demelza just doesn't do it for me.

Who mentioned egg and chips and bread and butter? Food of the God's! My favourite part of Christmas is when all the rich stuff has gone, and everyone just wants double egg, and big fat home made chips.

Hope everyone is feeling a little better today.....Cate.x

Hi to everyone, sorry, not been around over the past week. Hoping that everyone as is good as can be. I see Mango has gone north of the border, ( a place we would love to live, maybe on the isle of Bute ). We dream

I will have a read back, I noticed egg and chips, croissants, butter, this all sounds great and much needed comfort food, given the winter months. :D

Family came over on Saturday, so we all went out for lunch, which was very nice, then Sunday went to my Aunt and Uncles, where we had a full Sunday roast, more cakes than you can shake a stick at and caught up with my Cousin who was over from France. Auntie had the best crystal out and knowing me for knocking things over, it was like going to Hyacinth Bouquet. I managed not to damage anything and after all the food and cake, my blood sugar was the lowest it has been for ages !!

Tinged with sadness that Mum was not with us to celebrate Mothering Sunday, but she was remembered with fondness and much love.

Will have a quieter week, all that sitting and dining has given me such back and leg pain, but that is par for the course, you never really win the war, just conquer small battles along the way.

Right, what else did Auntie send home with us, scones, lemon drizzle and a huge chocolate cake, so help yourselves. (the chocolate cake is really good, had a large slice for breakfast - how naughty is that).

Will sit with a cuppa and have a read back. Everyone take lots of care, love XX Bubbles.

Chocolate cake for breakfast :D oh now there's a suggestion for a rainy Monday morning :D

I see there's been a run on egg & chips  I will have to stock up. That actually is what I have for xmas dinner - long held tradition - well I am vegetarian which is one factor, but I just think have what you want and so what.

Hello joan, hope the pain from lexi jumping up will lessen and yes, hope she didn't feel it too in her little head.. expect she is tough and at least it's not a hard knock! poor thing. Hope you and sue are doing alright today. It hailed this morning! but is sunny now & quite nice.

Glad you did not do an 'Elizabeth' with your coffee at the family gathering bubbles. It's never with the old china or mugs, is it, breakages. Hope you can keep moving about this week and see off some of that stiffness from sitting.

Cate, does anyone keep their car in the garage? Thinking about it, none of my near neighbours do & all have at least one car, so we must all be as bad as each other. I have a loft-full as well though not as bad as it was. Some things should come down and go, but some are very borderline.. probably poised to come 'in' again any minute. I can occasionally part with more cash for nice choc but not that often, and definitely not big hollow easter eggs with half a dozen chocs in .. I'm just mentally melting them down into their equivalent and then.. how much?!

Thinking that barbara will be in sometime back from the docs so will prime the kettle & hope it's gone ok.. back to the wallpaper for me xxx

ps glad applerose had a good Sunday all round :) and the clowns weren't scary ones.. I've never been keen.. hope you have a good day today, what are your working hours like at the moment?

    Hellooooooo......

Today Dan has gone on his 4 day trip. At some point he should be riding a horse for the first time ever amongst other exciting things like canoeing and climbing! I'm a tad worried he will be upset without me and his computer but hopefully he ill be worn out by all the activities.

Went out for a Mother's day meal. I never get any flowers because it so close to my birthday and the 2 bunches I received last week still look amazing.

I saw the rheummy today (empty waiting room) and we are holding off on the humira until further tests (lung function and chest specialist) as my coughing and fatigue has improved past 2 weeks- I wondered if it was being off the humira that helped. However she acknowledges I'e done well on humira and hopefully won't need to change it to something else.

Poor Joan. I couldn't get up if I fell so do my best to tread carefully but even them have misjudged a few items. It is a long way down....

L:ucy is going to sleep in Dan's room as she has decided her room needs paintig. She has been complaining about the noise of the traffic too so hoping a makeover might make it feel more homely.

I do not have many old things in my house, apart from some valuable toys and the garage full of Lambrettas. Blimey I cannot believe the amount of money some of my old toys are selling for on ebay. One doll was going for £1000. I do however love Victorian china dolls and have a couple hidden away.
Hope Barbara is getting some advice about her headaches.

    Love
    Elizabeth x

Barbara Fridge freezer was a straight swap and all is well so far.

Applerose Red nose day was okay as Dan wanted to go in his own clothes and not dress up and Lucy did a fine job wearing her tiger onesie and painting her nose like a cat.

Toni I will take a peep at facebook page :D

Lucy chose yellow at first but then changed it to lime green. then she wants to add some stickers on the wall for decoration. I'm hoping to persuade her to go for a lighter top coat as this one looks too dark and the original idea was to lighten and brighten up the room,

So far it is slow progress. Lu and I started by cleaning the walls and floor yesterday but my back suffered and then my ankle was like a knife cutting into it! OH took 2 hours to get started this morning and then the chair he was standing on split in two and he fell and hurt his leg so it has all ground to a halt. It needs to be finished by Friday!

So what did the GP said Barbara? Has he got some magic potion for you? I hope you didn't have to wait too long...
    Take care all

Oh dear it is not going 100% well in the decorating department is it, TK's is a bit hard going and glad to hear OH did not have a worse fall! I am tackling the wallpaper in the utility (yes real wallpaper barbara :) ) and this is what I'll be left with, including a nasty bit of plaster (the previously-filled line down the pic doesn't look too bad but it's not flat, it's where the wall has a dodgy bit and is actually on 2 different levels. May have to improve the old filler slightly to even up the difference). The green won't be staying! Hope Lucy's colour turns out ok.. if you can't talk her up a shade or 2. Hope Dan is getting on alright too! :) Glad you had an ok rheumy appt - if you're happy about the humira decision, so far as it goes.
    DSCI0070a_zpsdra7wtli.jpg

Hope barbara is gettingt on ok.. that's a totally different appt system to ours. You have to ring & the actual dr has to ring you back now, and make an appt if needs be. Should think they would not want to be bothered, & can't see how it's an improvement on the usual. :?

Hello joan, hope you are having a good day. The sun is shining and it is quite warm considering. I have been trying to get a photo of the mouse that seems to be living in my garden, though I wonder if it is a vole - but it will not come out when I am out there. The weather is bringing the birds out anyway. :)

See you all later & hello to anyone who calls in after me. xx

Hello everyone, my goodness, what a lot of posts I missed. Didn't come online yesterday, my middle daughter Helen paid us a visit. We had a good old natter and she bought me chocolates for Mothering Sunday, a day late, but I don't care.

I hope everyone is as good as they can be. Will read all posts later.

You don't have to if you don't want to. Those who do, remember it isn't the finished article, and it definitely isn't me singing. :?

Off to scoff some of Helen's chocolate. I'll leave the tin near the coffee machine, help yourselves.

Toady, hmmm interesting effect. Hope you manage to get the job finished.
Put me down as another egg and chip lover, with ketchup on the chips, or brown sauce - actually, I'll have both, and some mushrooms. Everybody is now thinking "what a piglet she is" :D

Joan, how is your chest now? Hope it is better and that Lexie doesn't have a headache.

Barbara, wish I'd thought of setting up a blog for Mango. He'd have some tales to tell. So you have to see the ENT after all. Hope they get you sorted out very quickly. My son wanted a black wall so I put some black sheets up on the walls for a few days and that soon put him off. My boss's daughter has had one wall painted with blackboard paint and has drawn all over it with special chalk pencils which wash off.

Cate, I often think about things my gran threw out when she bought modern things. Wish she'd passed them on to us. How lovely speaking to your GC. I know what you mean about getting more chocs for your money. I'm the same. I can't get in to this Poldark either.

Bubbles, sounds as if you had a lovely weekend. Lots of cakes. And plenty left over too. It is very sad when our mums are not with us on Mothers Day.

Toady, I agree. Have what you want to eat. My bil insists that certain foods go together and you shouldn't mix n match. I prefer mix n match. Round here, people use their garages for storage and their cars are parked on the pavements outside. The clowns wore short sticky out skirts with patterned tights and little tops. Only normal eye make-up and a few tears down their faces. Work isn't too bad. I only work 2 full days, 1 3/4 day and 2 half days and I can go in when I want so happy with that.

Elizabeth, have you heard from Dan? Do you think he will be enjoying himself. Hope he is. I see Lucy has decided how she wants her room. Hope you and OH are ok after getting started and now hurting.

Kath, I will click on your link later so I don't lose my post. I have had a habit of doing that recently.

Got my T*sc* shopping this afternoon. They were selling coconut and mango ice cream for only £1.50 so couldn't resist 2 tubs. Oops. Today I got to the bus stop 10 minutes early then the bus was 20 minutes late so my ice cream had melted. Still put it in the freezer. Think I'll take a chance on it. :?
