And one of the children in the fountains. When they were first switched on, there were about 50 children in there, all screaming and laughing.

Emily's flying ducks. They are porcelain, and not chalk.

Barbara, I got some D*ff**m mouth rinse this morning, so if my mouth goes off on one again, I can try that. Glad you had a good meal. :)

Toni, the folic acid does help, it's amazing that Lucy didn't get mouth ulcers. Nor sickness without it.

Lucy has difflam too from the hospital KathT - used it rarely good it can be bought OTC though :)
I have no idea why she copes ok with all this, but I have a feeling the folic acid might stop the MTX working on the leukaemia cells????

The ducks are fabulous - I have some too, but the kids won't let me put them up!!! :(

    Christine
Those pictures are great! The giant does look a bit scary though :? Glad the kids love the fountain hahaha! got soaked and loved every minute of it I bet. Not so sure their parents were so pleased :)

Do you have anyone off here on facebook? If you do chances are you can find me through them? If not I'll PM you my full name so you can find me ;)

Lost your post did you Barbara? easily done when you're busy. Glad you enjoyed your trip to the park :)

Joan! I get how you trip now! The top half of you is off somewhere before the bottom half has caught up!! Oh dear :( Hope you are all having a good weekend :)

Elizabeth - I think the rugs are great and I want to make one!!! My sister is inspired I chatted to her yesterday about them. She's done a painting for the 'do' I expect you've seen it?

At least your son did his teeth!! I wonder if he was shy to shower with 'strangers' If 's any consolation I daredn't ask mine when they were younger.

Wonder why you're so hungry :?

Barbara! Posting at the same time, but I noticed :) I think my snowdrops have been squished...see below :(

We had our conifers 'topped' yesterday and the garden is BIGGER and BRIGHTER too looks great (still a mess, but great!!)

Get your plants planted before you go out - it'll only take 5 mins ;)

    Love to you all

Barbara, the sun is out here too. Not sure if it's warm or cold though as I'm still in bed. I feel the need to get out and cut the grass and tidy up so will probably do a little bit. Hope you get your plants in.

Toni, the giant was a bit scary when he shouted at the kids but, later, he allowed them in the garden and seemed like a big softie really. The wonderful thing was the parents didn't mind the kids getting soaked. Some of them were even in there with the kids. No, I don't have anyone on here on FB. I'll send you my name and maybe you can add me. It does make a big difference getting big trees and shrubs cut back, doesn't it?

I decided to have a cuppa before bed last night. I'd noticed a strange smell like mould in the cupboard for a few days. After close inspection of the bread I bought on Tuesday, I realised it wasn't that. Checked the last hot cross bun and it wasn't that. Decided I'd have to empty the cupboard and clean it out today. It's a small corner cupboard where I keep my cups and glasses and a couple of other things so has a hidden bit on each side. Before I put the bread back in, I reached round the corner to see what was there and found a plastic packet. Inside was errrm a green thing. The outside of the packet told me it used to be 3 cinnamon bagels but it was now just one green thing. The date tag said 'Best before date 10 January'. So I'd probably bought them on 6 January when I did my first after Xmas shop.

Hello everyone, hope the sunshine is making you feel a bit better, even though it is still cold.

Of course I meant plaster ducks, not chalk. Anyway, they are porcelain. She and her friend came to see us this morning. It was a lovely surprise. :D

    Emily%20and%20Alex1_zpsrjzwurh3.jpg

Thanks Barbara, I will have some hot cross buns with goats butter on please. :P slurp. I have seen TV progs about people who live in retro homes. Emily now wants to swap her modern cooker and fridge/freezer for retro ones too. A bit risky I think unless you have a contact who can keep them in good working order.

Christine, brilliant photos. I have seen some on TV news but think they might be a bit scary in real life. Thanks for sharing the fact about the black Y-fronts

Toni, not worth the risk of MTX not working on her leukaemia cells. I know I'm not to take folic on the day I have MTX as it does affect the way it works. Just a very good thing she doesn't suffer with it. :?

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

    Hello everyone,

Great pics Christine, and it's good to see towns take pride in themselves. When I was growing up our very small town was lovely, bow fronted windows on the shops, some really beautiful old buildings with a lot of history attached. Church dating back to the 11th century. Over time, consecutive idiot councils let it all go to pot, and most of it's history was lost, or forgotten. Te*co being allowed to build a store here, bigger than the town itself, put the tin hat on it.

Kath, all Emily is short of is a "Muriel" like Hilda had. I think I'd be a bit wary of going as far as changing the cooker. Some things are better these days.

Barbara, I hope the fresh air has helped clear your head a bit. It's glorious here, but still a bit on the cold side. I managed the garden for a few years after my hubby died, but when it became too much, I was lucky to find a young couple just setting up in garden maintenance. They are brilliant, and have so much work now, they can't take anyone else on. They started back last week, and I can't wait to get out there. I spend whole days out there when the weather's good.

Thanks for the coffee Toni. I've just ordered some S*chard chocolate. I think you said it was good.

Can I have a - or two! - hot cross buns please Barbara, with a builders?

Hope Joan and Sue are feeling better, and getting out and about. Love to Elizabeth and anyone else I've forgotten......Cate.x

Be careful you don't eat Appleroses cinnamon bagels by mistake Cate?

My Son likes to hide food and watch it go mouldy over time so I often find all sorts hidden in my cupboards.

I never took folic acid with mtx. Neither did our Cris (Skezier). It used to make us feel even more sick so we gave it a miss.

The giant was a bit scary but I also quite magical. I can imagine some children were a bit frightened! I would hate to get soaked but the children love it, bit like playing in the snow really! the fountains look lovely but I can see a few peeps getting wet while out shopping.

I like the red on the walls Kath. That would nice on my fireplace wall.

I've received a message saying the pompom rug can't be sent for Monday and is Tuesday alright? I'm out to a meeting on Tues and by time i'd seen the message It had already been dispatched.

Applerose I hope you found Toni online.
I'm glad you are ignoring the Sisters. Bet that makes them cross!

Ooh just remembered it is the Art competition on TV in a moment. I almost forgot. I love that programme so I'll make a cuppa and hot water bottle because I am very cold and hobble up stairs.

I haven't watched any of the Richard 111 burial yet so I'll eed to catch up on that.

Love to those I haven't mentioned...sorry will pop back later

Oh yes Cate Suc*hard is our favourite :) You'll enjoy that!!

Yes it is a Muriel she needs and some rollers!!!!

Oh Elizabeth!! I do hope you receive your rug! Maybe it will come before or after your meeting :? I sometimes leave a nte for our postie to shove things through the cat flap!!!

I hope those cinnamon bagels have gone g025.gif

I remember you and Cris didn't get on with folic acid too!!

KathT any hot crossed buns left? I've never tried goats butter :)

Your daughter really is lovely. If she can afford them expensive makes like sm*g do new 'retro' appliances.

    Oh Barbara!! Naughty baby!!!

I remember Charley once picking 'apples' for me into her little basket in the garden.....they were ALL my peony buds

Christine WHAT a fabulous day!!! was our Tjt there too??

Seriously I rather liked the giant too like Elizabeth once I heard him speak.

You really do live in a lovely place :D

It really has helped let light in the garden - much better.

I have found Christine on fbook so she can find the rest of us now too ;)

Just a note to say I am around the place somewhere :) have just finished the reworked & improved (well at least, I hope I have not made it worse!) photo thread and am off for much-needed TEA. :D

Will be reading back and having a look at everyone's photos and links, thanks for video applerose. Kath the ducks really pull everything together don't they.. the sewing machine has moved.. (it's like spot the difference  )

Rugmaking, frog? making work, that is  all craftwork gives me the shudders these days, didn't used to mind it.. My Dad was made to make rag rugs when small & it gave him the horrors too. I come across programmes on all these crafty channels sometimes, people cutting out & embossing & twiddling with endless fiddly things to make their own cards, oh who has the time?!

Barbara I have planted some herbs now :) I am cutting back on last year when I tried to do too many things at once and will just methodically pot up bits & bobs as I go. I feel I need a slight houseplant clean sweep as well, poor things, don't tell them. :?

Back soon and love to all til then. I am not onto the painting stage yet TK, but all the paper is off. Next stop downstairs wc, under that paper is some especially hideous purple I fear. :o Nightmare! Out with the white emulsion. No muriels, although.. it's a thought. Anyway hope Lucy is happy with the way her room is shaping (next on the shopping list?!) and glad Dan is back safe & sound. :)

Lots of nice things to eat and drink in here today BUT I will pass on anything green! Oh, lovely story applerose.

Love to Cate, bubbles, joan & sue (mentioning your bruises in one line is not going on about it, joan, bless you) and anyone reading. xx

Barbara, isn't it lovely sitting outside now for a cuppa? Oh no, the baby picked your snowdrop. Aaw, she won't have realised. Bet you had a laugh. Glad you enjoyed my pics and video. I know the shrub you mean. I can never remember how to pronounce it and just call it wiggly.

Kath, that was a nice surprise. Are you and your daughter watching that programme I think it's called Back in Time? It's on for a few weeks. Just watched the family live in a '50s house using the things they had then and eating the same type of food. Does Emily want an old cooker and fridge/freezer or would she settle for new but 50s style?

Cate, the town I live in was mentioned in the Doomsday Book in 1086. Quite a lot has changed and our council are still trying to change things despite us all saying we don't want change. The town which has just celebrated the opening of the new High Street are doing up some of the old buildings as they were but have just replaced the road, pavements, lighting. Some years ago they knocked down the buildings on one side of the road and built a brand new shopping centre much to the dismay of the people who lived there. I guess we have to move on but I find that as I grow older, I don't want to. I want to go backwards. Sounds as if your T*sc* was way too big for the area. I spend hours in my garden when the weather is right but can't work in it now as I used to.

Elizabeth, I do hope no-one had my bagels. Mind you, they would have had no idea what they were. Maybe I should have set up a camera to video them. Yes, I think some people might get wet by the fountains especially if there's a bit of wind. Will they be able to leave the rug with a neighbour? Hope they don't take it back again. It can be a hassle trying to pick it up. Yes, Toni found me. Thanks. Hope you enjoyed the art competition.

Toni, the bagels are now in the bin. Still can't believe how long they had been in the cupboard. Tony said on his thread that he was in the High Street and saw the giant. There are some people who complain that they don't like it here but I do. There's lots to do and see if you look for it and lots of places worth looking at. Thanks for finding me on FB.

Toady, I've been looking at my house plants too. Some have got too big and I'm not so keen on them now. I won't tell yours if you don't tell mine. I must remember not to leave anything green in the food cupboard in the cafe. I'll go and have a look at your photo thread now.

Well I managed to get a bit of clearing up done in the garden this afternoon. It was lovely out. Quite a difference to yesterday when it was freezing. Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Hello everyone, will read back as I post, but hope you are all OK.

Cate, if she decides to have a Muriel, she'll probably paint one herself. She was an art student at 6th form, and had painted commissions for friends. Sadly she doesn't have much time for her artwork nowdays. As for fridge/freezer, she did mention Pre**cold. As she's a single mum I think Sm*g would be out of the question. She is going to have a retro style 'box' made to put her TV in as the boys won't let her have a real retro one. Maybe she could do the same with her kitchen appliances too.

Toni, was reading about Methotrexate on the Macmillan site and it said:

    "Folinic acid rescue
A drug called folinic acid (Leucovorin) is usually given 24 hours after starting methotrexate treatment to reduce the side effects. Folinic acid can be given into your cannula or line while you’re attached to a drip. You have it regularly with fluids until the methotrexate is out of your system.

Folinic acid is sometimes given as tablets. It's very important to take the tablets on time and to take them all exactly as explained.

I wondered if Lucy might have been given that? You can have it with the intrathecal Methotrexate too.

Oh well Elizabeth, there's always one - or maybe two. :D

Toady, why are you hiding behind the table? Oh I see, still covered in paint. We need to cover you in paint stripper. :o

We watched back in time for dinner Christine, so did Emily. But she got annoyed with the mum in it as she didn't seem to have a clue.

I'm on FB, if you want to look for me send me a PM and I'll let you know my full name to search for. But be warned, I have some very strange friends and relatives on there.

I've bought some more hot cross buns and a packet of goats butter for those that would like to try it.

    Hi everyone,

Just a quick visit today. My neck and right shoulder are bad, and whenever I type, I get shooting pains down my arm into my fingers....even using my Ipad. I pegged a load of bedding out, and I think that's what kicked it off. Getting everything ready for when - if - family get home.

Barbara, does your GD have her brace yet or are they still talking about it? I'm sure some dentists keep things going longer than necessary. I have a few house plants but they have grown too big and are taking up too much space now. I often buy growing herbs from the supermarket but, like you, forget to use them. Not heard much from Mango. He's been carrying his bed around. He seems to think it's a toy and not for sleeping in.

Kath, Emily must be good at art. I'd love a muriel but wouldn't know where to start. That sounds like a good idea making boxes to cover the modern appliances. I couldn't believe the mum either. Surely she must have had some idea. None of them knew how to use the tin opener. I was using one of them up until a few years ago so it's not as if they've not been around since the 50s.

Joan, I remember collecting wild flowers for my mum. Thought they were something special. I used to give my puppies goats milk but only liked it myself after it had been frozen. That seemed to take away the strong taste of goat.

Cate, sounds as if you've done a bit much. We don't often have to hold our arms up much except when pegging washing out. Take care.

Still got my flowers from Mothers Day. All the flowers have opened right up now although one or two are slightly past their best. Just been reading that a few of the pupils from the local school went to the care home where my dad is and spent the morning showing the residents how to use ipads and playing dominoes and cards with them. I think this is a good idea for both the kids and the older people.

Hope everyone who hasn't been in is ok.

Christine no my GD didn't get her braces...she has to have 2 teeth out that are in the way..so its back to her own dentist..for that then back for the braces in May
how lovely that your flowers have lasted..some are better than others I have noticed..so Mango is still up to his tricks ..is he still in Scotland..sorry if you have already said.. :? What a brilliant idea the children showing the older ones how to use the net..and it will help the children has well has the elderly ones.. :)
we are clearing out the garage again..OH doesn't do has much work not so its time we sorted it again..we have a man coming tomorrow to look at some old furniture from our retro days .. hopefully he will take them off our hands and if he pays us something..even better.. :D
