Hello all, hope you are as well as can be.

Barbara, how lovely having a visit from your daughter and the baby. How are your sinuses and your headaches lately? Have you had your ENT appointment yet?

Christine, OH still uses one of those tin openers, I could never get the hang of them, even OH is reducing the use of it and buying cans with ring pulls.

Oh Cate, how awful, I hope it settles down before your family arrive. :o

I've opened an online account with a certain dairy company who sell more than just milk. I was surprised to see they even sell bags of compost and bags of bark chippings. Difficult to get home on a bus. :? So we ordered two of each, along with fertilizer pellets, milk, bread, toilet rolls (9 pack) and washing up liquid. Arriving tomorrow hopefully. Getting heavy items like milk and other stuff will save OH's arms and back. :D I'll let you know how we get on.

Barbara, I didn't realise it could take such a long time to get braces sorted out. I didn't think it would be more than a few weeks. Mango still has about another 4 weeks before he flies to Oz. I could do with him back here. I was checking my big outdoor plant pots and found a cat had left it's calling card in one. I did tell my daughter that I thought Mango must have done it before he left but she doesn't think he could have reached. I hope you get a reasonable price for your furniture. It feels good clearing spaces. I need to do some more.

Kath, I don't blame your husband going for ring pulls. Those old openers weren't easy to use. What a good idea of the company selling compost and chippings. I've often done without things like that because I couldn't carry them on the bus.

Joan, wonder what the problem was yesterday. I'm sure others have had a problem logging in in the past.

I managed to make a start on clearing up around the pond today. I have a fir tree in the corner which I cut way back last summer and it is now covered in ivy. I noticed it has managed to creep under the fence and is now making it's way up next door's shed. :? I've been hungry all day but trying not too eat too much as my weight is creeping up a bit too much.

It has taken forever to read back today-so much news and goings on!

The rug arrived after the meeting and looks lovely, although OH a bit gobsmacked by the price! But the room is all done now and finally growing on me.

When we went to the meeting Dan was in the medical room so we took him home with us. He has had a cold but was sick so he has to stay off for 48 hours as a lot of children take immuno -suppressant drugs. I understand as I take them too!

We got great feedback on the trip! Dan always like the activities such as biking and climbing and had a swim every evening which pleased me because that would have worn him out.

Only the final episode of the art competition remains Barbara. I'd like to think I've picked up a few tips.

Right posting part one as Dan is fretting!

Barbara, so the furniture man didn't turn up. Hope he does come tomorrow. A whole day of staying in for nothing. You must have a good postman. I remember when my postman retired. He said he was going to spend time out on his motor bike and his bicycle. That was over 20 years ago and I still see him out every morning on his cycle. It's a proper racing bike and he wears all the gear. He must be in his 80s now. Hope you do get your appointment tomorrow.

Joan, I have quite a few tubs. There are roses, blueberries, a golden Delicious apple tree, a cooking apple tree, a twisted hazel, a silver birch, a Swiss cheese plant, and a few more but can't think what at the moment. I grow trees in tubs so they don't get too big. Hope your bruises have gone now.

Elizabeth, I bet you're glad the room is finished now. Hope your daughter likes it. It sounds as if Dan did have a good time. Hope he feels better soon. Yes you did find me. I've accepted.

I often email my MP asking him what he thinks about something or to ask him to support something. A few months ago, I got an email from him offering to show me round the Houses of Parliament. The email used my name. Today, I got an email to thank me for supporting him and hoped he had answered all my questions but it started 'Dear Resident .....'. I'm upset now. I think he's forgotten who I am. And I wonder if the offer of a visit to the H of P still stands.:lol:

Keep forgetting to tell you. In the window of one of the charity shops in our High Street is 'The dress'. You know, the black and blue/gold and white dress. It is being raffled. To be honest, I don't know if it's the one and only dress or just one of many.

Christine..don't worry we didn't stay in all day ..but it was few hours.. I am thinking of growing fruit trees in tubs..like you say it keeps them in order..but knowing me I would forget to water them...
I think another email is in order to your MP...with your name all over it... heee I hope you get that invite to the commons..what with you and Toni.. :D the only thing I get off my MP is a post card thanking me...for the email... :o
Well the man is suppose to be ring this morning he had better ..or the charity shop can come for them ..the only thing I have against that s all the good stuff goes to dealers..I have been in a few times and all the good stuff has sold on ..suppose its still making money for them
I will put the kettle on and get breakfast ready...cheese on toast for me..I have not seen bubbles around hope she is doing ok...see you later...xxxxxx

Afternoon Barbara, Joan, Elizabeth, Christine, and whoever else pops in.

Although it's sunny, it's still very cold here. Especially in the wind. :(

Barbara, sorry to hear you are still suffering with your sinuses. Hope you get your ENT appointment soon. Mine isn't too bad, mainly catarrh now, which makes me deaf in my left ear. Last time it was my right one, which needed syringing. Don't think that's the problem this time. :?

Christine, I emailed our MP when they closed our Post Office down. This is quite an elderly community, many are disabled and can't manage the bus. We have to go into the nearest town to the PO there. The MP is leaving before the GE, and sent me a letter asking me what I wanted her to do with the information I'd sent her. It was in the form of a tick box.
    1. Destroy it
    2. Pass it on to whoever is elected in, no matter who they are.
3 Pass iton to (designated name) if they are elected.
I chose 2. But I doubt if we will get a replacement PO, as they need a shop to host it and none of the shopkeepers want the bother. I asked if we could maybe have a mobile PO once a week, just for the elderly to collect their pension.

Elizabeth, have you spotted me on FB yet? My profile pic is Tulips and my main page header is Daffodils. Trying to remind myself it IS actually spring in spite of the cold weather. Hope Dan gets better soon.

Bit late for breakfast, but will have some hot buttered muffins with an egg anyway - that's something you can eat any time of day. :D

Christine maybe your MP has a secretary who replies on his behalf to the general enquiries but the one using your name, was actually from him. I think that one should over-rule the other!

I had to go back to bed this morning but it was the first time this week. generally I feel so much better but the pain is a lot worse, if that makes sense.

I hope the man is not trying to get you so fed up you will sell the furniture for much less just to get rid of it Barbara!

I've been very cold too Kath. There is a chill in the air. No I haven't spotted you on fb yet Kath. Are you on Toni's charity page. Gosh I'll have another look!

Toni I would think Dan would not like showering with strangers but I don't think he had much choice. I mentioned the dry soap and flannels to the school. He's the sort of boy who will do as he's told in order not to get into trouble so he probably didn't like to ask for his soap incase he got told off. We have SS coming again today for yet another meeting. They want him to be more independent but its not easy to make changes but we have made some that they suggested so they should be happy.

How lovely that you gave the postie a gift. 35 years is a long time! Yes there are going to be photographs of Dan on his trip but I haven't seen them yet. I could see how some of the paintings were done and it did inspire me but don't think I'll ever be as good as them.

Our neighbours moved out yesterday. Now I wonder who will buy the place. I'm amazed at the price it is selling for and it is smaller than ours as we have an extension. It gave me hope that we could buy somewhere nice in the countryside after all.

Hoping Joan is now recovered from the bruising.

Hi, literally just to say hello & will be in tomorrow hopefully, things a bit of a scramble this pm as have had to pack an e*ay parcel and have someone coming tomorrow to pick up a bit of furniture too (must be catching barbara! hope you got a fair price in the end.. if he turned up) - oh and I have 10 mins to get into the site that sells dairy goods of which Kath spake. No panic or anything. For heaven's sake no-one mention the clocks changing. Oh, they already have. Oh lordy.

    Love to all :) xx

Barbara, I water my pots in summer but, once the weather changes, I don't bother. I leave it to the rain but the trees are fine. I don't like the thought of dealers buying from charity shops. I know the charity still get the money but it doesn't seem fair.

Kath, I've just had 2 days of being deaf in my left ear again. It usually sorts itself out after putting oil in each night. Hope you get yours sorted. A post office is important to the community, even if they only have a small one. A mobile one sounds like a good idea. if they can do it with libraries, I don't see why they can't do it with post offices.

Elizabeth, I've got quite a few letters from my MP. He is good at replying. I'm pretty sure it will have been his secretary who sent the last one. I hope the SS were happy. It can't be easy for Dan to make changes. Glad you're feeling better but the pain is not good.

Toady, you sound very busy. Hope you got everything done. I don't want to know about the clocks changing either. I find it difficult getting up for work on time as it is. Think I'm going to be an hour late for a few days next week.

I got a pack of tiny Easter eggs off my boss's mum today. Yum. Went to visit my dad. I couldn't find him. One of the carers said he had gone to the coffee shop at the prison. It's across the road from the care home and the prisoners run the shop, baking their own cakes. They also grow plants to sell, repair and sell bikes, make wooden ornaments and garden furniture. it's a good way to get them used to the public again and get them ready to go back to work when they leave.

    Blimey everyone!!

    Too much has happened!!

I can see Elizabeth's Lucy's rug arrived and now the room is all done it looks rather nice!! That is good :)

I'm not sure why SS tell you what to do I am sure that you do your best to get your son as independent s possible knowing you.

Barbara still has sinus issues - roll on apt with ENT. Pots for fruit trees is a good idea and pop in some of that gel stuff when you plant them retains some water for if you forget ;)

Christine - your Dad went to the prison??!!! Gosh  it sounds a god idea getting the prisoners doing something constructive though.

I hope you enjoyed the tiny easter eggs - share!!!!

Toady Toady - I read your photo thread and think it is GREAT wanted to post that on it, but thought it best staying as it is :)

    o094.gif

    you'll meet yourself coming back!!

I hope that Christine you have found Elizabeth of Fbook now :)Barbara is lurking there too and others from this forum :)

KathT you are there too?? I don't think I've seen you!!! I too like eggs very much an excellent food along with bananas especially when you're not 100%

Maybe a mobile PO would be vulnerable with having money/stamps etc????

I do hope our Joan Is doing ok and Sue and the doggies too :?

Has Cate been in this week? Hope he's ok.

Right onwards and upwards!!! Off to update that charity page  Thank you to those who 'comment' on it for me it really helps :)

    Hello one and all, :)

Joan, hope you and Sue are having a good weekend too.

Toni, when we had a PROPER Post Office, with the postmaster living above it, it was always being robbed. Usually mid afternoon, so don't think a mobile one would be any more at risk - but we won't get one anyway. :?
I am on FB, but not on your group.

Christine, what a good idea to have a coffee shop in a prison. I like all the other services they provide too, especially growing and selling plants. :D

Can't think of anything to tell you at the moment, but hope all are feeling OKish.

Hi all :) I've missed a fair bit too, so I'll just pitch in ad hoc & hope I haven't missed too much. My furniture lady turned up ok (lovely bit of empty space!) and I then was 45mins on the phone to a friend that was going to be a quick chat, so I'm just sitting down in a nice little lull with a plate of coffee & walnut cake. :) Help yourselves.

Glad your chap was ok barbara and it sounds as if he was reasonable with you (as he could have stuck to 40-50, having started at that sort of figure). Spare space for you too, hopefully :D hard to stop things creeping back in though. :? What a nice postie. Lovely to have one all that while, especially as they get to know you and also then know where you like things left etc. Jolly good for applerose's cycling octogenarian I suppose, but I have to say, seeing him whiz past my house still going at that age would try my capacity to be pleased for others.

I don't have any outdoor big pots but I'd like some, have seen nice little fruit bushes etc but I know mine would not look like that, all compact & well-trained. Still contemplating pot-plant murder but will have to toughen up & not give in to qualms (I'll never make a trained assassin!) Have you sneaked up on yours yet applerose. Interesting to hear one of the dresses is in your local shop (definitely, white & gold). Wonder what they'll raise from raffling it.

Sorry to hear Dan has been poorly TK. Hope the SS are fair and open-minded with you today. Very nice to know your local properties are doing a bit better than you thought! though I don't care much for the idea you can look up house sales on the net quite so easily, if you are just anybody I mean, it's a bit intrusive. Much like g**gle maps, which I still think should have stuck to town centres etc. Glad the room got finished and you're warming to it a bit. :)

Thank you frog & barbara for your kind photo thread comments :) there's not really too much different in this one, but it was nice to re-arrange it and tweak it a bit. :) It will be lock it at some point, or that's the idea, just so that it stays simple - hope people will pm me instead though with any suggestions or corrections!

Yes it was a bit of a dizzy-smiley evening frog  owing to the e*ay lady being short notice. Much quieter now. :D Did think I'd sold another little cabinet but it turned out to be too far for the person to come. Shame.

Hope the egg muffin was nice Kath. :) I don't think I've ever written to my MP, which I see makes me not very civic-minded. :? It is cold here especially with the wind & rain, I'm sure the forecast was for 15 or 16 today at one point, obviously they backtracked when I wasn't looking  maybe the start of BST will make us feel warm. Sorry you are still deaf in the one ear currently, I will speak up :) (or repeat myself like Fred Elliott, I say, like Fred Elliott - whichever you prefer!)

Hello joan, hope it's not as cold for you. A peephole would be nice to see who's around but I have a very glass-y porch so I have to look out upstairs if possible - luckily I usually know who's expected, & if not, ignore callers (Jehovah's today).

Love to anyone else reading, going to slice up the cake. :D xx

ps barbara we are talking about milk & m*re, or I assume Kath is too, order online etc. I've had compost off them too, very handy indeed with no delivery charge.

Yes, Toni, my dad went to prison for a coffee. The carers have told me they threaten to leave him, and a couple of the other residents, there if they don't behave. Will leave the chocolate eggs here next weekend or they'll all be gone before Easter. I've found Elizabeth, Barbara and Kath, thanks. You have some fantastic prizes lined up for the charity do.

Barbara, glad your furniture has gone now and you got a reasonable amount. My left ear goes deaf quite often for a couple of days. It must drive you nuts lasting as long as it has.

Joan, hope you and Sue are having a good weekend.

Kath, hope you are having a good weekend.

Toady, coffee and walnut cake? Just reminded me, I meant to call in to M&S to pick one up and forgot so I'll have a slice of yours please. I've managed to cut back a few bits of some shrubs. Little by little and I'll have it done just in time to start all over again. No, the dress is definitely black and blue. Let's not start that again.

Went in to town today to get a birthday present for my GD who will be 2 next Friday, Easter eggs for 3 of my GC, some gluten-free pies from the farmers market and a couple of things for my dad. Got everything but the birthday present. Where's the Arg*s catalogue?
