Just popped in for a little sip of barbara's champagne (hic)
I don't usually, but must join in & be convivial, mustn't I
Sorry the cake wasn't for you barbara, & the '30' is just rubbing it in, pity it didn't say '90' at least you would have then been glad it was someone else's. But glad you had a nice day and saw family.
Glad everyone seems not too bad, well at least present and correct.. waves at Kath in her lovely sunny bed.. and people are getting a few jobs done. Washing and so forth. Jolly good.
I see Daisycat has been un-helping around the house.. glad she is ok! Neighbour's cat is enjoying walking along the 12ft roll of carpet still in the hallway, like a balance beam.. mind you I am as well, can't resist.. he does it better, needless to say!
I too love the bean cooking tin and may have to rename said utensil.Glad your daughter thinks she's sussed the key mystery applerose, & it isn't the possum, having had one cut and letting himself in. I read a story (true) once of someone whose pet raccoon unscrewed every single thing that could be undone (ie things with a thread) in the house while they were out. Bet it enjoyed it no end.
The carpet is half down TK, I've been doing the fiddly bits round the built in furniture and it's just the straight bits left - fingers crossed I don't get last-minute problems. Is it really another school holiday soon? I suppose it would be. Hope the A level run-up is going ok. Are you watching BB dare I ask?!
Cate's Joe Fish reminds me of a tale my mum told of a little girl who misheard 'fishers of men' at sunday school as 'vicious old men'. Always loved it.
Love to joan and sue and best wishes for your weekend too. xx
..and another hug for barbaraxxxx

Hi All
Elizabeth - bin that letter!!! How very rude I expect she isn't really much overweight, just a little because this happened to one of my friends whose daughter was into sport and 'solid' muscle. They could give them eating disorders!!
Thanks for asking after my orchid - it's alive, but not looking great to be fairCharley bought it me a few years back and it always flowers
Cats eh?
Toady I love the 'vicious old men' story!!! I will remember that tooWell-done for getting some carpet down it will get sorted and you'll be so proud of yourself
It's spring bank holiday looming and Whit-week to some isn't it? Time does fly doesn't it?
Christine the orchid is ok-ish apart from damaged leaves luckily no flowers. I was more worried about cut paws, but all is well
I reckon no-one should enter your house - possum men or not without telling you/asking - scary!
So your gardening was only drying washing then?mine too as we went to Solihull to get Lucy's phone fixed and ended up visiting husband's Mum as we were half-way then
Let's hope we both get out there today eh?
Barbara I think you did ok really with all the flowers and choccies for your birthday - as for OH at least he paid for your plants?????
It's a good job you didn't stand up and wave the cake over to your table then
have a slice of this one it really IS for you
HI JoanI hope you Sue and the doggies are having a good weekend too? It's sunny here and the wind has dropped from yesterday so hoping to get out in the garden
Hi Cate I'm sure your washing dried yesterday it was perfect for drying washing
Love to you all

Morning all
Toni yeah he paid for the plants....men eh..suppose hes not a bad old stick..hope all is well in your household...
and yes I could have made a right fool of myself...something I never do..
toady..yes it rubbed salt in the wound being 30 on the cake..I was thinking 35 years younger...than me... glad you had a tipple,,I would have loved one yesterday but sadly I cant..well that what my tummy says..eh you are moving on with the carpet...
if it was here the straight bits would be left...
thanks for the hugs...
Christine..I love the cake with my name on...at least I got one..glad to see that your daughters thinks she has solved the mystery...I have heard about the possums in people houses..we have some friends in Aussie and they were worried about this..
glad to see you got the washing dried but sorry the gardening didn't get done..never mind less ironing...
Hope Kath's doing ok and plodding on....
Hopefully my stand will get put in the garden instead of the kitchen then the flowers can go on ..hopefully no frost at night..Love

Hello my lovelies, quite sunny here with some cloud and a rather chilly wind.
Barbara, I hope you are having a lovely birthday in spite of not having a cake.Barbara.
Christine, what a shock your daughter must have had. People should be more careful with other folks property. Anything could have happened.
Went to A**a on Saturday. I had to pop into my surgery which is just across the road. We went to the bus stop to come home and an elderly lady who lives near us was also waiting for the bus. The bus never turned up. We noticed lots of buses going in one direction, then turning round and coming back with the "out of service" sign showing. Apparently there had been a vicious attack on a young man further up the road and police had closed all the roads so the buses couldn't get that way. The young man is in hospital now, but haven't heard if they caught those who did it. This is at 9am by the way.Anyway, we and our neighbour walked to the taxi rank. Had to wait a while as taxis were in big demand by then. We took our friend home, then went home ourselves. Just over half an hour later than we would have done on the bus, in spite of all the waiting. It was quite stressful, but it was lovely being dropped off right at our house instead of having the long walk home.
We bought a few plants, and OH potted them up after we'd had a bit of a rest. Phew!! What a day!!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Toady, sounds as if the carpet has been very useful in helping with your balance.
I think the possum might have had a key cut as my daughter thinks he is still in the loft after the hole being sealed. She's waiting for Mango's coat to grow a bit so she can brush him and get some of his fur to put in the loft. Hopefully, that will put the possum off. Wow, that raccoon could come in useful.
Toni, hope your orchid does flower again. I have a few and only one has flowered a second time. Glad there were no cut paws. That would have been much worse than a damaged plant.
Barbara, apparently some people have a box in the main part of the house and let the possums stay there. Hope you've got your stand outside. Not sure if we're totally past the frosts though.
Kath, that sounds horrific. Poor man. Hope he recovers ok. I think the buses could still have picked people up on the way back, even if they couldn't do the whole journey, surely. At least you got a lift to your door. Hope you and your neighbour are feeling ok now.
I have surprised myself this morning. I got up early and put my decorating clothes on ready to paint the last wall in my dining room. The other walls were done last year. I couldn't find the paint and think I must have finished it. Seeing as I was ready to paint, I decided to do the remaining wall in my bedroom. (Yes, I do seem to do 3/4 of a job then go on to the next one.) I used one of those paint pads and had it done in no time. I prefer the pads as you just wipe up and down or side to side and no splashes like I always get using a roller. Only problem is, I did a white section then a purpely pink section after without washing the pad so think I might have some white streaks. Oh well, never mind.

Hello all those who have braved the rain showers to pop in here. Coffee is on, hot sausage rolls for anyone who fancies one.
Barbara, hope your phone/internet woes soon get sorted out.
Went to see the good Dr P yesterday. I was a bit anxious as to what she would think of my hospital escapades. But, she is pleased with my improvement in RA and Vasculitis. No change in meds at the moment. She is leaving the steroids as is for 3 months while my chest recovers. Then, she wants me to try taking the same dose (10mg) but on alternated days and not daily, to see how things go. This starts in August. My next appointment will be in 6 months time, and if things have settled down as she hopes they will (me too) she will consider increasing MTX to 30 mls and stopping Leflunomide all together. :? Oh well, I have 6 months to think about that.
Met a lovely gentleman and lady on the Arthritis Care stand. We had a lovely chat about our RA. She is a member here, but I forget her name.
Oh yes, I've lost 2lbs, so rather pleased about that too."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Barbara, the pads have done a good job on my wall. I thought I would have some white patches but it's ok. No patches. My daughter is always talking about the wildlife. They have parrots flying about and she keeps finding big spiders. Yesterday, she went in to the back garden and found one of the trees covered in one big spider's web. No sign on a spider though. Glad you've got your stand out now. Looking forward to seeing a picture. Glad you've got your phone and internet sorted.
Mig, hope you found your photo frame and vacuum. I've seen a couple of Slug and Lettuce's but there aren't any near me.
Joan, hope the weather wasn't too bad for you today. It rained heavily here most of the day with hailstones.
Kath, good to hear you are improving. Hope it keeps up. And you've lost weight. Sometimes illness has it's good points. :?
I managed to miss the hailstone showers today, thank goodness. Think I might have drowned.Found some pistachio M*gn*ms in T*sc* today. Haven't tried them yet.
Christine0 -
Got the photo frame,JL didn't stock the vacuum I wanted in store so I ordered it when I got home though they would have done it in store. In the end we went in harvester and had breakfast I thought slug and lettuce a bit too pricey for breakfast.
We had hail as well, I wonder if it will warm up any.
Kath glad things went well with Dr P,don't like the new waiting room set up.
Take care all. Mig0 -
Morning all..pouring down...
Christine how lovely for your daughter to see parrots flying around ..we saw one here a couple of years ago but it had escaped...not the samebet she has her camera at the ready...
I would stay clear of the tree, I remember getting a pic off some neighbours that moved to Aussie, and its them sitting on a settee with an enormous spider over there head.. glad you missed the hail ...
you do find some nice ice creams think I had better try harder
Mig don't know if you had breakfast at harvester..but we had the other week and it was delicious....hope you get your vacuum...they gave one of the waiting rooms in our local hospital a face lift..must say the chairs are comfy but has for the decor
Toady I am off on ring and ride to see my niece..we will have lunch at a nearby pub then go to her house fora while..then OH will pick me up..hope the sun comes out...
see you later xxxxxLove

Just put the photo in the frame and hung it up ,got a silver type frame every time I look at it I can see finger prints but it does suit the picture, I will take a photo and post it later on.
Egg and bacon butties for lunch and meatballs and spaghetti with garlic bread for tea .
We recorded (well hubby did )some old episodes of fort boyard so he's now shouting at the tele and telling them he could do better  as if.
Clouding over here big dark grey ones, looks like more rain on the way. Mig0 -
Good Morning everyone!!
We have had rain this morning and like almost everyone here hail yesterday!! It was shocking!! I was driving and couldn't hear myself think!!

What a difference in the weather today. As it was hailing yesterday and pretty cold, I put a jumper on and a thick jacket. It was very hot. T-shirt weather so carried my jacket.
Barbara, they do get some big spiders over there. I hadn't heard about the pistachio lollies. Found them when I went to get some more of the pink ones. Tried one this afternoon. Quite nice. Hope you enjoyed your lunch.
Joan, hope you are managing to miss the rain and it's not stopping you from getting out.
Mig, the photo frame sounds nice despite the finger prints. I quite often have boiled egg sandwiches but am now fancying a fried egg butty. Why do men think people on tv can hear them. And maybe even take their advice.
Toni, hope you got some sun later after the rain.
The painter is doing some work at my boss's house again. It's the usual. Turn up at 10.30, kettle on, cuppa and cigarette. Sand the kitchen table, hoover it. 11.30 lunch. 11.45 break. 12.30 cuppa. I went home then. Told me he was taking his time. :?Christine0 -

Glad the paint pads went well for you ..I have just bought some..its years since I used them .so the painter is back again ..he is on a good thing there...think me and you could do it with the paint pads...
Hello to Toni hope you have the insurance sorted for Lucy..wounder when you go...
Mig the frame ,sounds lovely..think your hubby and mine might be twins...I dont hear half the news because he is shouting at the tv..think we need 2 tvs one upstairs
Joan yes we are up and running...what did we do before the internet..and phones come to that...
We have still not got a TV..everything is either blue or yellow..so we will have to have another look this weekend...

Hello Joan, barbara, Christine, Toni, mig, and whoever else pops in.
They keep saying its going to warm up, but we still have clouds, wind and yes, I'm cold. :?
Christine, your GD is so cute. But she looks as though she could control a bunch of builders with no problem.
Toni, you've started me off craving for an egg butty now. Yes my Dr P (and mig's Dr P) is excellent. Occasionally she can be a little brusque, but generally she is very kind and worth her weight in gold.
mig, can I put my order in for meatballs, spaghetti and garlic bread please. No, I don't like that tiny waiting room either. They've taken over the old one for office space.
Barbara, hope you are still connected. When I was in hospital I really missed the internet. I could get FB on my phone, but their WiFi was so slow, I used up almost all my free data on my phone as I couldn't switch to WiFi. Thankfully though, the phone connected to TV allowed me free calls all day to landlines. There was a charge to mobiles. So I could contact all my family on their home phones. Free TV between 8am until 12 noon too. But I love the free radio they provide. BBC radio 4, 2, local radio and hospital radio which was better than I expected it to be.
Joan, I'm being very good and getting plenty of rest. I would like a bit more fresh air, but it's so cold and windy outside - and then there's the rain.Hope you and Sue are keeping well.
I've had a new nebuliser now, my GP has added saline nebules to my repeat prescription. I'm doing everything I can to stay out of THAT PLACE! :x"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Barbara, you never know. I have seen a few women laying bricks alongside the men. And why not if they are capable of doing the work. Maybe we could set up a little business together with our paint pads. We could decorate the houses my GD builds.
Hope you left the ironing for another day and hope all went well for your GD.
Thanks Kath. My GD is very shy with people she doesn't know but once she knows the builders, I'm sure she would be good at bossing them about.Your hospital sounds good for the tv and internet. Ours charge a small fortune and you have to have the tv on all day. You can't switch it off so you're paying even when you're not watching.
Joan, how is Sue doing? Is she coping ok now?
Got to work today and found my boss and the painter discussing the fact that there were marks on the kitchen table which weren't there before. Oops. Then I ended up shutting myself away in the utility room ironing today as the painter was varnishing the kitchen table yet again. The smell was horrendous and I could smell it upstairs too. A man turned up and the painter took him in to the kitchen and showed him the marks. Turns out, he was actually there to see my boss about getting a new wooden kitchen floor. The man had parked his van over next door's drive so I asked him to move it as the neighbour wanted in. The painter told my boss he'd go and have a word about it with the neighbour. Later, he took the floor man to his van chatting to him and told him he'd see him tomorrow. You'd think he was the house owner. :?Christine0 -
Morning all..
Kath I hope the new nebuliser helps you, yes we are still connected thank goodness, its good you could use the phone for free, I remember my brother was in hospital for 8 weeks and it cost him a fortune to use the net and TV...hope you are getting there...and yes keep away from that place...
Joan our GD was fine thanks..hope that all is well with you and Sue..and you are getting to the cafe and shopping..
Christine there are many girls from my GDs school gone into the building trade..plumbing building and so on...its about time it was more open to girls...I had to laugh at the pic...she is lovely..I think we could make a fortune here..the 3 of us..
Well our GD had her other 2 teeth out, they got the Irish dentist to do them ..that took over last time..so it went much better..she has gone to school today ...thought she wouldn't want to going while they finish for half term
Its is cloudy here this morn yesterday afternoon went lovely and warm..still not got a tv so going to look today..after sorting a couple out on the net first..hope everyone has a good day...xxxxxLove
