Today 2 of the children have gone out and Jack, birthday boy, is still asleep. I got to chat to Charlie and she tried on my old jeans (I'll never fit into them again) and took one pair home, the rest being too small!! OH was going away camping for 3 days but changed his mind when he saw the rain!

The coughing will take time to subside then I'll know it is the humira. water helps as tea seems to make my throat dry. I've lost my appetite too.

Glad you had a nice break Barbara despite losing most of one day.

I'm not bothered about mice. Rats yes but not mice!

Kath I wonder why GP wants another blood test seeing as you had one recently. I would be glad to reduce the mtx It can't have shown up at the May appointment. 6-8 months is usual for appointment here Kath and it used to be Nurse-Reummy every 3 months.

Social services lady is really nice to me now. That's why I was so upset at first because I felt like I was being criticised far too much. I have made an effort to get Dan to be more independent but it can be a battle. He also got turned down for his respite but she is going to reapply with more info. The respite centre is so underused and the council won't fund for these children so the facilities are being wasted.

Righto Toady nice to see you popped in. Did you say a choice of bedrooms? In our house its a bit musical chairs although Dan is now fully settled in his own room now.
Next door has been sold so we will soon see if the noise proves to be a burden. The grass is knee high and the front full of weeds so it's looking run down.

Hello Joan and hello Cate. Cate I hate to think of you so tearful...I am going to have a sit in the garden sunshine now and enjoy the quiet time

    Hello all,

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Barbara, I thought we were all supposed to be supermodels  I'm certainly supersize. Glad to hear you had a good holiday in Scarborough. The bikini suits you. :)

Elizabeth, GP is just following the consultant's orders. She says 4 weekly blood tests, which is what I have anyway. But my GP doesn't always get the results so doesn't realise this. It all comes from me and GP being in a different county to the hospital and consultant. If my blood form comes from GP, she will get the results but they are also on the hospital computer. GP can't access this as it is Nottingham Health authority, while GP is Derbyshire. So if the form was provided by the hospital, GP won't get the results. It's complicated, and pretty stupid really. :x

Christine, glad to hear your mouse has scarpered. My daughter found a mouse in her house once. She captured it and put it in a cage for a pet. It eventually drove the poor thing mad, so she let it loose in a nearby field again.

hello Joan, have you been out on your scooter this weekend? The weather has certainly been pleasant enough, although still a bit breezy. Hope you and Sue are keeping well. :D

Toni, how are you and Lucy keeping? Also thinking of cate, there's a spare bed waiting for you here. Someone put a lovely duvet cover with a huge sunflower on it. I wonder who that was.

    Missing mig's cooking/baking.

Elizabeth, good that the social services woman is nicer to you. So she should be. Hope she manages to get the respite for you. Fingers crossed you get good neighbours who are quiet.

Barbara, I'm the same. I panic if I get the wrong bus even if it's a short local journey. Quite scary if it's a long journey. My daughter has asked me to add whatsapp but my phone won't recognise the internet so I can download it.

Kath, I used to have the same problem with blood results. My rheumie hospital is in a different county so they don't pass them on. Very silly. My GP emailed and asked for them.

I had decided to go to the Mela (an Asian celebration) in one of the local towns today. There was music, dancing and food. I was busy chatting to my daughter and daughter-in-law all morning so missed the train I wanted to catch so went out for the next one. Got to the station to be reminded that they were every 2 hours on a Sunday so came back home. Then decided to go to a vintage fair near our High Street but was disappointed with it. Went to the river for a walk then decided I didn't want to do that so went home again. Just one of those days I guess. At least the weather was pretty good. Hope everyone has been able to enjoy the sun.

Morning all the sun is shinning... :D
Kath,,you are right we are super size models...proper women... and wouldn't you think all the NHS would communicate with each other..I have had them same when in an hospital out of our trust...
Christine , so you can get a bus from middlesborough to Whitby or Scarborough how lovey I do like the Yorkshire coast...anyhow we know now and wont make the same mistake...hopefully... a few years ago we saw the signs at the top of our rd to Mela and I had to ask what it was..they do put on a brilliant show...what a shame the vintage fair wasn't up to scratch..but lovey to be able to walk along the river...wish we had one..there is a canal not far away...
On my own for a couple of hours today so will have a sit in the garden.. :) hope everyone has the sun and a good day..wounder what migs cooking up.. :)

    Hello everyone,

It's my son's birthday today, and we had a lovely long chat earlier. Remembering birthdays gone by. Making me laugh telling me all the things the little un has been up to. We both ignore "the elephant in the room" now, but it's not easy. I absolutely don't want to cause any problems for him, and won't allow him to say anything to his wife, but neither of us know what to do. All I do know - and so does he - is that I haven't done anything to be treated this way. Shown nothing but love, only to have it thrown back in my face. I have happily spent an absolute fortune on them, especially my gorgeous granddaughter, who I've seen just twice since she was born eighteen months ago. Paid for their honeymoon as a wedding present. I could understand it if I was on their doorstep every five minutes, but they live hundreds of miles away, and that's not my style anyway. His voice broke when he was going and said love and miss you mum. So, so sad.

Well, that was a moany start to the week, sorry. I hope everyone is as well as can be, and I'll try to be more upbeat next time. Much love to you all...Cate.x

Oh my goodness Cate, that had me filling up. How sad for both of you. I hope you find a solution soon.

Joan, I do hope you enjoyed your swim. Does it ease you poor joints. I wish I could swim. When about 8 years old, the swimming tutor put a belt with ropes attached around me (he held the other ends), a rubber ring, and a cork float - I still sank and he sent me home.

Christine, you've bought back another memory. When my youngest son was a toddler, I took him in his pushchair on a train to Nottingham. When going home, we went to the railway station platform where we usually caught the train back home. Heard the tannoy announce the train and got on. The wrong one, it wasn't going to Long Eaton, and we ended up in Alfreton. So we had to get off there and catch the next train back to Nottingham, then get the correct train to Long Eaton. I checked this time. I have to admit to being a bit anxious but all was well in the end. :D

OH managed to pot up the Hydrangea, two roses and two ferns. Spread compost all over the garden to make it look better, and trim back a few shrubs. I helped a bit. :? I think.

Mig, Barbara, Toni, Toady, Elizabeth, and anyone else I might have missed. Hope all are well.

Cate I do feel for you,she is depriving her daughter of seeing her grandma..but theses mums have the upper hand..I have two dils ..my youngest sons I get on with well, but still I tread carefully..it shouldn't be like this..I am so glad you have such a good relationship with your son, I pray she will come round..and you moan away it will do you good...
Joan hope you enjoyed your swimming I haven't heard you mention that for a while..
Kath Im glad we are not alone..getting on the wrong bus or train in your case..mind you the bus had the same num on :? I bet many have been caught like us... :o glad OH has potted your hydrangea..and the rest of the plants /we put bark all around our garden to make it look tidy..
It is black here and going to rain ..I just hope it doesn't thunder...

Barbara, I think buses go to quite a few places from Middlesbrough, not sure where though. I know family come from Glasgow and my sister goes to London. Now I know they go to Whitby and Scarbrough. Hope the sun stayed out for you. Just read it was dark and looking like rain for you so guess you didn't get out in the garden.

Cate, I'm glad you got to spend time with your son. Happy birthday to him. I really hope things will work themselves out for you both.

Joan, hope you enjoyed your swimming. I think I would enjoy it but I'm scared of the water.

Kath, when I've tried swimming, I'm convinced I'll sink head first. Scares the life out of me. Sounds as if your OH has been very busy in the garden. And you of course. Did you supervise? That's the most important bit.

Well, after thinking that my mouse had gone, I went in to the bathroom last night, got my toothbrush ready then a mouse came from behind me and ran between my feet and seemed to disappear behind the bath. I let out a really loud scream. I moved the trap in to the bathroom and made sure the door was properly closed when I came out. Like that would stop a mouse. Came home from work to find the trap door was closed so had my tea then got my coat and shoes on ready to take the mouse out to a field in the next town. Picked it up and it was empty. :( So I've bought 2 more traps. One in the bathroom, one in the loft and one in my wardrobe. Fingers crossed.

Really sorry to be rude, but am having a really bad migraine today (had a small one yesterday - a warning for this one maybe??)

I have chucked everything I have at my disposal at it.

Also the door handle broke again on the washer so I have bought a new one (cheap!) from arg*s. Not fitted like the present one, but I really don't care - I just need it to WORK!!

I know there was something else I wanted to say, but in the meantime I hope you are all as well as possible :)

Christine I hope you catch that mouse..we have the ultrasonic things plugged in because we got so many..they didn't seem to be working at first but now they are ..we get the odd ones coming in ,but they leave after half hour and don't breed :) make sure if you want to go to Scarborough the bus doesn't go to Whitby and then bring you back to middlesborough..
Mig how lovely to have the cruise to look forward to, our friends have been on one to the fiords twice and loved it..cant wait for the lemon drizzle cake its my favorite :D
Toni you are far from rude...poor you with the migraine,I had them when I was in my teens so I feel for you, they make you feel poorly on top of the banging head..sorry you know this already  I hope you slept last night and today it has eased up....x

Toni, you're not being rude at all. I've never had a migraine but I know a couple of people who do get them. Horrible things. (The migraines, not the people). Glad you sorted a washer. As you say, the main thing is that it works.

Mig, sounds as if you had a lovely day. Ooh, a cruise. That's something to look forward to.

Oh that's early Barbara. Hope your tv turned up ok. The old tvs are awkward and heavy to move. I was surprised how heavy the slim ones are. I had 3 traps down last night but still no occupants. There was only a bit of scratching last night so maybe they are spending more time next door. I did think about the ultrasonic one but didn't know if they worked. A bit expensive if they don't. I'll make sure I double check where the bus is going before I get on. Goodness knows where I could end up.

Joan, I have searched everywhere. I've left a trap in my wardrobe where the mouse came out of. No sign it has been anywhere at all. No droppings. I'm going to leave one in the kitchen, just in case as they might go looking for food.

Hope anyone who hasn't been in is doing ok and enjoying the sun.

A new handle or a new washing machine Toni?

Yes I'd think the first migraine would have been a warning. I hope you are okay?

Applerose we have a mice ultra sonic sensor, although originally it was a spider one I asked for,but I've never ever seen any mice in our house. We have our first 'large'spider hiding under the stair-carpet. Lucy (brave girl) poked him with a stick and I've not see him since but it's a bit early in the year for spiders that large.

Barbara when I had my THR a fellow 'wardmate' was in hospital because she had dropped her TV on her foot! She was such a grump and hated being told not to cross her legs.
Thank you for hoping I get the respite. Lady called today to put him forward for a Summer club.

Cate Happy birthday to your Son and glad you got to have a lovely long chat with him. How lovely of you to pay for their Honeymoon.

Rick and Lucy are cleaning the fish tank and I'm about to go to rest upstairs. I'm a bit later than usual. Not sure what is on TV though, some days are good, others awful.

I hope the pool is warm Joan.

The garden seems to be progressing well Kath. Bet your Son enjoyed his extra train journey.

Right I must pop off too bed,

    Elizabeth xx

Elizabeth the poor women dropping the TV on her foot I once dropped an oil filled radiator on mine when the boys were little..fingers crossed that you get the respite ..the summer club will be good..think he went to one before.. :?
Christine look around for the devices they differ in price and ours weren't expensive, and they all do the same send a noise through your wiring and there little res dont like it..wish we could get to Scarborough in an hours I would be using my bus pass.. :D
Joan it has been fun..we did pay the men to tune it but we have to suss the smart side of it..make life interesting...
Today is lovely so we are off out somewhere later probably something to eat and a little sit down in the sun.. :D
I hope that Toni is feeling better...she has had so much stress this coming holiday will hopefully give them time to relax..and enjoy...

Thank you all for being so kind - I am WAY better although it's taken until today to feel normal again :)

    Barbara
good to hear the new telly is great :) It will keep your OH nice and happy for a good while ;)

    hehehe!

Elizabeth - My friend's Mum dropped a paving slab on her foot the day before my friend's wedding!! Typical she said of her Mum to steal the limelight ;)

I had to get a new washer Elizabeth as this was the 2nd handle in about 3/4 weeks!! I could have spent as much in handles as on the new washer - only £160!!! It's only 7kg, but who cares so long as it washed?

Hope today is a GOOD day for you

Christine thanks I am fine now although migraines are vile. Charley gets hemiplegic ones. She goes paralysed on one side bless her.

I do hope wee mouse was as sacred as you and has run away or that he pops into the trap soon. Have you tried chocolate?? Apparently they like that!

Hi Joan thank you I am ok now - hope you are all well? It's lovely here today.

Did I read that mig is off cruising? How lovely

I hope KathT and Toady are ok Cate too :?

Hello all :) nice day to look at, but cold! I reckon. Just a quick call, I have just managed to cook up a rheumy appt by phone - as I'd received yet another letter saying they were cancelling my next one (which itself was the replacement for a cancelled one weeks ago  ) I'm 99% sure they would not have sent me another in the post soon because they were overlooking that fact, so it seemed I hadn't been waiting as long as I have. You have to keep at things to get anywhere don't you. Anyway will report back after that in a few wks depending on if it's kill or cure. Probably a change of meds which I am dreading tbh.

In other news, I think applerose's mouse headed my way  rescued one from the cat early Sunday, thought it had got outside, saw it again midday Monday had been here all the time. Ignored my humane trap & eventually caught it in a long cardboard tube with peanut butter at one end (a sealed off end, obviously  ). So mouse-free now, but would still many times rather that than TK's spider! Please say it's not going to be a 'good' year for large ones! :o

Will be in again here & there, sorry not be be up to date but have been reading, everyone's tales of buses that go the long way round etc  and washing machine handles going wrong AGAIN! terrible! Glad you are better from the migraine, frog.

Take care all. Oh and to Cate who said I like humour as an aid to coping, certainly do and the blacker the better usually! not sure what cake mig made us but quite happy as long as it comes with a pot of tea. xx

We bought a new bird feeder, and it has been in position since Monday. It has a dome cover than can be closed in rain and adjusted higher and lower to stop big birds getting on it. OH filled it with dry mealworms. Bearing in mind we haven't had Sparrows on our garden for at least 5 years (or maybe more) we are surprised but very pleased to suddenly have a dozen or more coming down to it at regular intervals. :D I think they feel safe because of the domed cover, as they can climb inside it.

    41eJVa4LBqL_zpsoc5ess89.jpg

Haven't actually taken any photos of the garden since OH sorted everything out, this photo came from the store with the big river running through it.

Hope all are feeling as well as can be.

Elizabeth, your spider reminded me of a message I got from my son-in-law yesterday. My daughter had told him that someone had put up a washing line in the garden from one tree to the next. He went to investigate and found it was actually part of a spiders web. They get them big in Australia it seems. Hope you found something worth watching on tv.

Barbara, I think I might pop in to town and have a look for the mice device. Probably cheaper than the diy shop. Hope you are having fun with your new tv and enjoyed your trip out today.

Glad you are better now Toni. I didn't know you could be paralysed with them. That must be scary for Charley. I'm using peanut butter to catch my mouse. The traps are still empty. Not much noise at all for 2 nights then not a sound last night unless I slept through it. Might put a piece of chocolate in too.

Toady, what a carry on to get an appointment. Hope that one isn't cancelled. So that's where my mouse has got to. How did you stop the mouse running back out the way it went in to the tube? Were you there ready to stop it? I'd rather have the spider than the mouse. I've been panicking about going to bed and jumping at the slightest thing. Hope you don't mean large mice.

Kath, that's a good feeder. Great idea having it covered and adjustable.

Spent an hour in the garden weeding after work so decided I fancied a bath. Haven't had one in a long time. Managed to get in without much problem, lay back and relaxed and read my book. When it came to getting out, I remembered why I hadn't been in for so long. It took some doing but eventually managed to turn round then haul myself up. Came downstairs, made a cuppa then settled on the sofa. Picked up my laptop. Not sure what happened but my cup, full of tea, somehow flipped up, turned upside down and landed on the floor. The tea was all over under a chair. Took a while to clean it all up. Thank goodness I have a wooden floor and that the tea didn't go on my laptop.

    Afternoon Joan

It's been lovely here too - Lucy and I got outside :)

Charley popped in in her break from work.

Christine HOW BIG? HOW BIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! noooooo!! I don't like spiders bigger than a money one :?

We get pigeons too, but today there was a fairly large frog in (the year before lasts's) empty grow-bag!!! Of course Daisycat tried to get him, but I think he got away :) Yippee!

When Lucy and I came in the squirrel came out :)

Barbara I am glad you enjoyed yesterday's lunch out. Paul got burnt today and Tia's BF yesterday it is so lovely isn't it?

I think you should get that bird feeder of Kath's It looks perfect :)

Kath I hope you are still keeping well?

Toady too good on you being assertive and getting your rheumy appointment this side of Christmas ;) I suspect maybe a change of meds too :?

I hope Elizabeth is ok today and Cate too hopefully just enjoying the weather.

    Love

    Toni xxx
