Barbara, my daughter hasn't seen the spider. Just the webs. Think I'd rather see it. I'd like a sun brolley but haven't got a table to put it up in.

Joan, I find the pigeons eat all the food and the other birds sit on the fence until they've gone so they get nothing.

Toni, they've not seen the spider so don't know how big it actually is. Don't know where it's hiding. I was just telling my son about a frog which was hiding in a half empty compost bag which I'd left in the garden last summer. I'd gone to get some compost out when I saw it so just covered it over and left it. Glad you are all enjoying the sun.

Looks like I'm dog sitting tomorrow night. Someone is coming to view my son's house on Saturday morning and they want to make sure there aren't any dog hairs or doggy smells around. I thought the message said they wanted me to look after the baby as their names are similar. I was asking if she'd be ok sleeping here and in a travel cot as the baby hasn't slept here before. My son thought I was mad wanting to put the dog in a cot.

Good afternoon one and all. Hope you have had a good day and managed to get out in the sun while it lasts. We did our shopping today instead of tomorrow so that if the forecast rain does make an appearance, we won't have to go out in it. 8)

Barbara, I had my hair done on Wednesday. No colour, just my usual number 4 cut. Can't be bothered with combs and stuff. Just a quick wipe with a damp cloth and I'm done.

Joan, we used to get only wood pigeons and starlings until we got this feeder. We'd rather watch the comings and goings of the sparrow families than watch TV. :D

Toni I'm fine thank you. Today I bought myself some new trousers/leggings in a smaller size, as all my others keep falling down. I haven't lost much weight, but as the steroids are reduced, I think the fat is being redistributed so my clothes feel loose. Oh, and I got myself a new bag at last, off our local market, along with a new bus pass holder.

Hoping Toady, Elizabeth and cate are OK. Sorry if I've missed anyone.

    Hello everyone,

I have been enjoying the lovely weather, glued to my sunbed. Shame it's forecast to change from tomorrow. We have a really old established bakery in our little town, and their stuff is just to die for. I haven't had anything from there for yonks. So, I'm out in the garden, munching on crispbread and low fat cheese, and my friend rocks up with two of their pies each, and trifles and strawberry tarts. They were gorgeous.

Barbara I still do my own hair, and I put my colour on last week. Forgot to cover it, and the sun has lifted it, so that was a waste of time..and money. It's gone from dark honey blonde to light blonde now. My friend said it looks good with my tan, but I think it looks tarty.

Kath that made me laugh, wiping your hair with a damp cloth. Reminded me of my grandma who used to say "I'll just wash the middle of me face, and put me hat on, then I'm ready".

Enjoy your dog minding Christine . You should advertise and make some money at it. You certainly have the experience.

Toni, it's lovely that Lucy got some sun in readiness for her holiday. Being away will help complete her brave recovery, and provide a much needed break for you. I'm in awe of the courage you have shown. I always think it's as well we don't know what's ahead of us, or we'd never get up in a morning!

I hope Toady has also enjoyed the sun, and hopefully got a bit of respite from pain. Joan has probably been swimming. She doesn't let the grass grow does she? I'll bet Elizabeth has been out in the sun, like moi. I hope so.

I'm sorry if I've forgotten anyone. Much love..Cate.x

Happy new hair Barbara. It does feel good to get it done. The dog's not coming till in the morning now. My son was busy and didn't realise how late it was getting. The people are coming later too. I watched a video the other night on how to connect my phone to my internet so will have to try again to get Whatsapp.

Happy new hair to you too Kath. I keep my hair quite short these days. I don't have time in the morning to do much with it. And you've been shopping for new things. Can't have your trousers falling down.

Oh Cate, that sounds lovely, sitting in the sun eating tasty pies and trifle and tarts. Yummy, better than crispbread. A couple I know look after dogs in their home while people are on holiday. I think it's a great idea but I'm out at work all day. Keeping it in mind for if I ever get to retire.

Mig, good idea to make the best of the 2 for 1 cinema tickets. Hope you enjoy the cake.

Went to see my dad today to be told he was in the pub down the road with a couple of the other residents and one of the carers. It was nice sitting in the sun chatting to them. They all enjoyed getting out too. Colder temperatures and some rain due here too for the weekend then warmer again on Monday. I'm sure the weather knows when it's the weekend. At least I got my bedding hung out and dried. Just remembered, I haven't made my bed up again. Best go and do it now before I get too tired to move. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Joan, I didn't get the dog to look after in the end. It was too late last night for my son to bring her then my dil had to go out in the cat this morning so took the dog with her. Hope the weather isn't too bad for you.

Barbara, it rained here during the night and looks as if it could rain again. Guess the garden is out of the question today. Our forecast is for warm weather again when I go back to work. I've heard of putting bread in the oven. Makes you feel good and more likely to want to be there. My dad is sometimes taken to a nearby cafe. It is in the prison and run by the prisoners. They bake cakes which are apparently very good. Ouch. it is really painful when your back goes. Take it easy. Hope it eases quickly.

Mousey kept me awake again last night, scratching away I think in the wardrobe. No sign of it this morning. Can't understand why there are no droppings and no holes in anything.

Good to see everyone enjoying life. Lucky Cate to have a friend turn up with such lovely goodies.
Sadly fatigue has plagued me all week. I don't how I'll make it to Rheummy Nurse on Monday morning. I still haven't managed to get updated x-rays and I missed my respiritory appointment but I just cannot manage anything at the present time. Now I've lost heart so just doing what I can to keep the kids clean and fed.

I did love the spider washing line story although it freaks me out!

Sorry feeling very down so will vacate the cafe incase it is contageous.

    Love to all

Hello Joan, Barbara, Elizabeth, Toni, Toady, Christine, Cate, and anyone I've missed.

We made the right decision and went shopping yesterday. It's been pouring down most of the day. :?

I was going to give you all the news about my shopping trip yesterday, then realised I'd already told you.

The only other news I have, those of you on facebook will already have heard. My youngest daughter Emily - the one who likes retro stuff - has bees invading her bathroom. She's had to block off the vents where they have been getting in. She was told she would have a wait over the weekend until someone could come to move them, but she was also going to ring her landlord this morning. I haven't heard from her yet, but I sent her a website where she could find a local bee keeper to see if they would come out to help her. I'll let you know when I have news.

Hope all are keeping well in the damp weather. It made my hands and wrists hurt this morning, even though my rheumy insists my RA is inactive and stable.

Elizabeth, sorry you are so down at the moment. Just do what you can manage. Will your family help out more? Hope you feel better very soon. (((hugs)))

Kath it sounds as if your daughter is having a hard time with those bees. Hope someone can come out to help as soon as possible. My last 2 blood tests have shown mine is inactive at the moment too but it still hurts just as much.

Stayed in today as the weather didn't look good out there and I didn't really have any reason to go anywhere. I decided to go through all the paperwork in the filing cabinet. Threw a huge pile out and sorted the rest in to the proper files and in order. A lot had just been thrown in anywhere. Sorted through my memory box and found a postcard a friend had sent me when we were about 14 and some postcards and a letter from a friend who was holidaying in Australia about 30 years ago. And I watched a few quiz programmes to try to exercise my grey matter.

Hello Joan, mig, barbara, christine, toady, toni, Elizabeth, cate and anyone I've forgotten. Hope all have had a better day today. Just had a light shower here, but on the whole the weather hasn't been too bad.

I haven't heard from my daughter yet re: bees, so assume she hasn't sorted the problem out yet.

mig, you can't beat sausage and mash for a cold wet day. Especially with onion gravy. Slurp. :P

Barbara, it doesn't matter what time of day it is I'm always ready for food. Cheese on toast sounds good too me, so will have that and a coffee thank you. :D

Christine, if only there was a way of our rheumy's experiencing our pain while we were with them, they might understand us a bit better. :?

Elizabeth, I hope you beging to feel better soon. It's dreadful hen everything seems to be against you. :x

I hope Joan and Sue have had a good weekend. Cate, toady, Toni too.

Hello all, just catching up, having a not doing much day as well, I'll sit with TK who is tired and barbara who's being careful of her back. :?

Tea & toast & marmalade I think while I'm at it.

Thanks for asking after me, luckily I don't get much pain Cate, well not unless things really crank up, a few joints play up but with me its mostly tired & under-the-weather-ness. Yes frog, new meds are in order I imagine but which :? & not looking forward to seeing a new dr to boot. I get stubborn & they get shirty if you don't just take the first thing they offer. (My first consultant just said 'we will start you on such-and-such' as if that was that  ).

Glad to hear applerose's Dad is getting out & seems to be coping really well not finding different things/places too strange. Yes I was 'on hand' when the mouse went in the tube, heard the scuffling, & put my hand over the other end. I'll have any large mice & you can have the large spiders, if only you could trade like that. I can't imagine minding a mouse, but other people's phobias are always a mystery to the non-afflicted aren't they. No other insect bothers me for example.

Barbara I have a lot of old cards & letters too, have just started to scan some old printed-out-emails so I can dispose of them, even though I know that I will probably then not look back at them. But it's the sort of thing I do. :? Personal post, handwritten letters & cards etc, it just stumps me whether to keep them or not. Always thought people who chucked their xmas cards on boxing day were very unsentimental but starting to think it's maybe the best way to be. Hope you feel all sorted & tidy for your filing session applerose. Is one of the shows you were watching Beat the Brain by any chance? I saw it for the first time & expected to do well, how wrong I was.

Happy to hear about your shopping trip twice Kath, always love to hear what people are buying. Like your new bag.

Hello to mig & joan and anyone passing. Was forecast to be thundery here but nothing has materialised, it is a bit humid though as others say.

    Take care all xx

Hello all..its very hot here and been at hospital for a few hours..not my ENT...all that way and sitting with a bad back and all to be told will send you for an MRI on your head.. :o so have to wait for a letter..
Joan yes the weather is lovely today but missed some of it...
toady..it is hard deciding what to keep in letter and cards..my late Mum was the same..bags of them..before emails... glad you are notin to much pain, but hope they offer some proper help...I have learned.. only since coming on here.. to question most of what they say..not to there liking
Kath sorry Im late with your food...  I fell asleep on one of the beds... :o hope your daughter is bee free today...
Right a cuppa then I will sit in the garden...I wasn't going to my appointment with this back like it is...but I was talked into it...you should have seen the performance getting me in and out of the car  anyhow I have to wait for an MRI now...just got rid of most of my appointments
Hope you have all had this glorious weather... :D

    Hello all,

Toady, I'm glad you don't get too much pain, but that tired and under the weather feeling can be worse. You might be able to take something for pain, but what can you do about the fatigue? Even sleep doesn't relieve it. :(

Joan, although my itching stopped ages ago, I have a few new lumps, and 3 of them are a bit itchy, so me being me, I've scratched. The skin around them looks a bit inflamed, so they could be infected. I used Dermol 500 to wash in, it's an antibacterial moisturiser and soap replacement. Hope I don't need antibiotics.

Hope everyone else has been relatively pain free. Good luck to anyone with appointments, blood tests or any other tests. e040.gif e045.gif

Oh hello Barbara, don't worry about the food, I helped myself. :D Sorry to hear you had a wasted journey, especially with your bad back. Hope you don't have to wait too long for the MRI.

Mmm, sausage and mash sounds good Mig.

Barbara, I go through things like cards and throw some out only keeping the important ones. I have a small suitcase full of drawings my kids did when they were little and I have quite a few diaries from when I was about 8 or 9 till a few years ago. They make interesting reading. The carers have threatened, jokingly, that they'll leave my dad and his friend at the prison if they don't behave. They're always calling each other names but have a good laugh about it. That must have been painful travelling to the hospital then sitting waiting. My rheumie stopped me from asking questions last time I saw him. He said he'd invite me back later when he had results but he never did so I've still got unanswered questions.

Kath, have you heard from your daughter about the bees yet? Hope it's been sorted out.

After another two nights of listening to the scratching, I went out yesterday and bought a sonic mouse deterrent. No noise last night but I didn't sleep a wink. Not sure if the deterrent kept me awake. It has a blue light which flashes on and off quickly. Couldn't see it with my eyes closed but they say you shouldn't have lights from tv or phone or anything like that in the bedroom as it can keep you awake. We'll see how it goes tonight. So tired today I could have fallen asleep on my feet.

Joan, hope you and Sue and the dogs are ok.

Toady, it was the same with me. I was examined then given a prescription when I first saw a rheumie. Nothing was explained till I saw a different rheumie. My boss often opens Xmas cards then puts them straight in the bin. Same with birthday cards. Yes, I do feel better for sorting the filing. How did you guess I watched Beat the Brain? I did ok on the easier questions but terrible on the rest.

Hello everyone, sun is shining, the sparrows are flitting around the bird feeders, and my aches, pains and itching seem to be under control at the moment. :)

I haven't heard from my daughter about the bees yet, she said she would email me to let me know. Cheeky madam is probably waiting for our weekly phone catch up on Friday.

Sorry to hear about your ankle Joan. You are so brave and uncomplaining, and always have a good word to say about others. :D Hope they agree to an ankle replacement, and pretty soon too. :?

Barbara, I think the body shop would throw their hands in the air at me, and put me in the 'rejects' box.

Sending everyone hugs and hope for continued good weather. xxx

Sorry about your ankle Joan. Hope you do get a new one to make things better for you.

Barbara, I've just been reading up on the mouse deterrents. In one place, it said it can take up to 6 days to chase them. Another said the mice get used to it after a few days and take no notice. :o At least I've had 2 nights of peace and quiet so we'll see what happens. Did you go anywhere nice today?

Kath, glad you've got things under control. Sounds as if your daughter is like my son. He doesn't let me know when things happen. He waits till I phone him or he'll phone me if he doesn't hear from me in a while.

I was very good today and walked past the ice cream. I had, however, bought a couple of boxes of the pink M*gn*ms. Some annoying people around today. A man smoking in the bus shelter, a man had parked his van right across the pavement so I had to squeeze past and the bus driver went straight past my stop despite me dinging the bell in plenty of time. And he looked at me as if it was my fault when I shouted for him to stop. Glad to get home.
