Great news Kath. Hope you are having a good weekend.

Lovely day here too Barbara. I'm not looking forward to the heat next week. Yes, the Tunisia attack was awful. Those poor people.

All this talk of cream teas made me buy scones and clotted cream today. Forgot the jam so I put cherries and grapes on instead. There was a vintage car and fire engine fair on in the park in the next town so the bus home from the main town took an hour instead of 20 minutes. I wanted some 6 foot garden canes but nowhere sold canes of any size. Came home and found 2 of my tomato plants I needed them for, had snapped. :( My son came round and cut back my hedge while my 2 year old GD and I watched for a while then went to play with the musical instruments. Nice and loud.

Just a quick call to sneak the kettle on.. sounds as though we may need iced tea next week, are they really talking temps of 30 & up? sympathy in advance to those who don't like it. I have my appt still lined up, touch wood no cancellations barbara, just in the stages of juggling when to time blood tests, fix transport, blah blah. Not for a fortnight or so, will report in due course.

Folks seem to be going on with a few mixed fortunes, in the main. Sorry TK is having a tough time. :(

Hope mig's daughter is having a good trip. Lovely concert weather.

Glad Kath's x-rays were good. :) & the bees have buzzed off with a fair few of their number intact. Spiders behind fireplaces, oh don't, I have to peer behind mine someday & that's put that job right back on my can wait list. :o

Very little to report here, tackling a bit of sorting out as some things, I think I am getting to run out of tolerance for. A skip would be handy as well but don't really want to fork out for one. All the firms say to ring for a quote and anything where they won't even say 'prices from £...' in their ads annoys me no end on principle.

I can see how your sister went in for drastic tactics with her girls' stuff applerose.. can also say, would have been well put out in their shoes & at their age. Daresay they were too but did the trick, didn't it. I got my last lot of 6ft canes from wi*ko delivered as there was no sensible way for to get them in person, they were cheap & worth it if you wanted other things delivered but have just looked & they are out of stock just now. My garden has gone pretty much to pot this year  peas are flowering at a few feet tall & everything's out of synch, can't be helped. Hollyhocks are looking good so far, that's 1 thing I got right.

I see there are no scones left, ahem *kath* ahem, so will ferret in the biccy tins til I unearth something. :D I have some cranberry & white choc cookies I can trade.

Glad your things went down well with the GC's Cate. All the supermarkets are scrabbling over customers aren't they so you can get some really nice things so reasonably. My delivery scheme thing with t*sco means I get free delivery on anything from their non-food side too, I know they need the business, but still don't know how they can afford to do that. :?

Hello to joan & sue, and hope peppa is coping in the heat too. Must feel a little hot & flaked out I expect. xx

    Love to all, toady. :)

    Morning all..its raining...you couldn't make it up
Good to see Toady in the cafe , and glad to see that appointment has come...hopefully it will be helpful...must say my garden is not looking to good..mind you the lawn is lush... we have had a few skips usually around the £65 mark for what they call a medium one..but to us it wasn't very big..mind you our garage was full of rubbish..
Christine...like toady says wilkos do the canes ...wish you lived nearer we have a bungle in the garden...mind you they are more like 4ft...what a shame the bus took so long..mind you not has long as our 3 hours... at least your hedges are cut ...children do love loud things...
we cam across an armed forces day in the next town..it was lovely to see all the young recruits army navy and air force there..marching to bands..and all the tanks and vintage war stuff..
I hope that Elizabeth is feeling less tired..especially with the school holidays on the way..hope she gets some help...
The kettle is on and the tables are set..will sit by the window and have a ponder... :)

Hello everyone. Really fed up with myself now. Had this open in a second tab in my browser and typed up a long-ish post, then went to open another tab to search for something and closed the one I was typing in. :o Needless to say I lost my post.

So, wishing everyone well until I get time to repost (maybe later). :?

Hi Barbara yes I'm less tired and had a couple of 'active evenings' where I've stayed up later than usual. Mind you it could be because of the nicer weather.

Lucy is still hobbling but Iim a bit worried I'm jumping the gun so holding off on a GP appointment for her. I have told her to keep a diary of aches and pains but she has let it go. Did I mention her fingers are becoming curved at the ends and puffy between the knuckles and tips. She has 2 violin concerts this week followed by Grade 2 exam and needs her fingers to be tip-top condition!

Very glad the lung x-ray is satisfactory Kath. Oh dear spiders......

Toady my hollyhock is gigantic now. And the pink roses have come out in all their glory too, they just need a better, more attractive fence to climb up as ours is a big metal one where the roses grow.

Applerose, thank you for your messages and keeping in touch :) . I wouldn't dare put bin bags in the garden I'd never be forgiven! At least the childre are reasonably tidy.

I haven't read back very far just the nearest posts so sorry if I've missed anything or anyone,

    Elizabeth xxx

Hello Barbara, Toady, Christine, Elizabeth and anyone else I've might have missed.

Well here goes, I'll try again.

Elizabeth, this is a time of worry for you. I hope you get to the bottom of Lucy's limp and curved fingers.

Barbara, yes we've had rain too, but it's now sunny but quite breezy. Saturday was Armed Forces Day, and I was a bit disappointed when we didn't see any out and about. Perhaps we were too early for them. There is a chap who usually wears an American Army uniform, and an elderly gent in a bowler hat and mackintosh who wears his medals pinned to his coat. Very smart. :)

Toady, good to see you back. Glad to hear you finally have an appointment date. Fingers crossed they don't change it unless it's to bring it nearer for you. :D

Hope that Joan, mig and Toni are having a good weekend.

Toady, skips are very expensive. It's apparently because they have to pay so much to landfill. I went to W*lko first but they said they didn't have any at all. Glad your hollyhocks are doing well.

Barbara, crikey 3 hours? That's a full day trip. :o There was an armed forces day a couple of towns away the other day (probably the same day as yours). My dils grandad, who is 100 in a couple of months went. He was talking to a young soldier and told him he had been fighting in the war somewhere abroad (can't remember where he said) and the soldier asked him to wait a second. He spoke to an older soldier and it turns out that soldier's brother had fought alongside my dil's grandad. Her grandad is from Liverpool. Isn't it a small world?

Elizabeth, hope you find out what is wrong with Lucy. It would be useful for her to keep a diary but young people don't seem to be bothered with such things. Hope the concerts go well and her hands are ok for them.

Kath, how annoying is it when you delete a post like that. Done it a few times. The forces vets do look very smart, don't they?

My GS's school fete was good. He had a football game stall with his friend but they were put at the end of the field and hardly anyone went there so they only made £7.70. They did try though. I took the baby on the steam train. The eldest enjoyed being there as it was her primary school and she's been left almost 2 years. We then went to my son's house and sat in the garden as the sun had come out by then after threatening to rain all afternoon.

Hello all, feeling hot already and the heat wave hasn't even started. :o

Barbara, I left my bedsocks and pj trousers off last night. Just pants and nightie.

Just popped in to post the latest photos of our garden. OH took them on Saturday. I will just post a few as there are over 40 all together.

That'll do for now. Too many to deal with.

It certainly is Barbara, they keep eyeing it up but to no avail. I've noticed the sparrow numbers are dwindling, not many coming now. I think the young have flown to pastures new to find mates ready for next year. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

Well I've survived the heat although most of me has melted.

Barbara, I used to sunbathe every minute I could but can't sit still in the garden and it's way too hot to stay out just now. Mmmm, honeycomb ice cream sounds delicious.

Kath, lovely pictures. I really like the white rose. I don't wear that much in winter in bed. Way too hot.

Joan, hope it isn't too hot for you and Sue.

Cate, glad you're able to sign in again. It is annoying when you can't.

I was very good today and walked past the half price H**gen D*azs. Mind you I do have a tub of vanilla in the freezer which I had a scoop of. On the way home, I decided to call in to see our local chapel. It had been donated to the people of our town many many years ago to be used as a non-denominational chapel. The council had been using it for storage and hadn't looked after it. A group set themselves up and have weeded and dug and planted and scrubbed clean and polished and it looks wonderful now. Just as I turned to walk up the path, a funeral cortège past me. The first funeral there in 30 years. I walked on. Wasn't the right time for me to go for a wander round. I'll go another time.

Hope you are all coping with the heat.

    Hello everyone,

Why do we always have extremes in the weather in this daft country? That said, I'd rather have this than the cold. My elder son and his family are away in Spain, and I've been worrying about the little one, as it's even hotter there. He just texted me to say that he has to keep dragging her kicking and screaming out of the sea to keep her in the shade. She absolutely loves it. Mind you, they have been taking her to Water Babies since she was very tiny. The younger son sent me a little video of him trying to get sun cream on the other little un. She was having none of it, and legging off down the garden, on her chubby little legs. I had to laugh. She had a big hat on that kept slipping down. Talk about "but for me ears, me hat would choke me". I appreciate them keeping me in touch, but I think the time may be coming for me to say something. I am so afraid of causing trouble for them though. It's difficult.

I'll have a bit of toast - I've brought some orange curd - with a builders, then I'm going to sit outside with my book.

    Much love to everyone......Cate.x

Hello everyone, hope the heat isn't getting to you too much. I must be an odd 'un as I prefer cold to heat. I can always add an extra layer when I'm cold, nowt much I can do if I'm too hot, expect strip off. :o Don't go there. :? Stepped out into the garden for about 5 seconds, quickly came back in again. Indoor temperature is only 25c, outside must be well over 30. We did have a very short thunder storm earlier, but it didn't make any difference.

Cate, think I'll give the builders a miss today. Just dreaming of Christine's big tub of ice cream. We have some choc ices, but diving into a tub of the stuff sounds good to me. Let's look in my fridge/freezer c085.gif Oh well, choc ice it is then.

Not looking forward to trying to sleep tonight. Last night wasn't too bad, duvet relegated to the bottom of the bed. OH didn't get much sleep, and he's closer to the window than I am. When we had a double bed, I'd put my duvet on the floor just beneath the window and sleep there as the cool air coming in would come down to where I was. It was obviously OH's body heat that caused my problems. He's always telling me he's hot stuff. :D

Applerose what a small world? That was a lovely story. Also I remember you telling us about the chapel.

Cate glad you got to see a video of the children in Spain. You've been very patient, I'm not in your position but it must be hurting you so maybe it wouldn't hurt to say how you'd really love to see them.

Lovely pics of your plants Kath. I must entice my Son out into the garden to take pics of the pink roses as they look so beautiful.

Shame 2 elderley residents were taken to hospital Barbara. I hope they will both be okay.It is scorching here, I think Heathrow was the hottest place in UK today. Strangely my breathing is the best its been for months! I've stopped Humira at the moment ad that is definitely helping. Trouble is it is so good for my RA but I hate having the coughing and all that comes with it.

Lucy went to see her new Senior school yesterday and met her new teacher and class mates. We had the usual battle beforehand about brushing hair, teeth and dressing acceptably!!!! I had to stay with Dan and I'll miss the 2 concerts for the same reason

Hello to Joan hope the Dogies are coping with the heat,

Just popping in quick as it's late and I need to get to bed. We were in the middle of a terrific storm for a while this afternoon. There were streams running down my windows and big hailstones. As I was looking out the upstairs window, a fork of lightening stuck the road in front of my house just before a car went past then the whole area lit up at the same time as there was a huge bang. Scared the life out of me. There are pylons not far from my house so I was expecting one of them to get hit. Heard later that one of the banks in the High Street was struck and had to be cordoned off as bits of the roof were falling off.

Hope everyone is managing to cope with the heat.

Phew!!!! We only had a tiny thunderstorm, and no hailstones. There is a nice breeze outside, but it's still quite hot. Neck, shoulders and spine all painful today, as well as my usual hip pain. :(

On a brighter note, although our sparrows seem to have deserted us, we did hear a Song Thrush this morning. As they are on the RSPB red list, I was pleasantly surprised. It's the first one I've heard for many a year. :D

My pop man is off to Majorca this weekend. I told him to take the hot weather back there with him.

Joan hope the storm wasnt to bad for you, and yes its still hot here but just having another storm..its pouring down
Cate I suppose the time has to come when you cant take anymore, its so sad to keep you from you gc, I really hope things work out for you..

Cate, it sounds as if your little GD is having a lovely time. No wonder she doesn't want to stop to get out of the sun or to get sun cream on.

Kath, I used to love the heat but I'm like you now, I prefer the cold to the heat. I'm just wearing a very thin floaty short dress at home and am not enjoying having to cover up when I'm at work. I'm finding it difficult to leave the ice cream alone during the week with it being so hot. Thought you were going to climb in to the fridge there.

Joan, we had a big thunder and lightning storm here but watching the news tonight some places had it a lot worse than us. Hope you and the dogs are coping with the heat.

Elizabeth, glad your breathing is much easier. Hope the visit to her new school went well for Lucy. It's such a shame you can't get to the concerts.

Barbara, our forecast said we were to expect more thunder storms tonight and tomorrow night. Hope you don't get them if you don't like them. Sorry to hear about the lady who died. My boss suggested I do the ironing outside and showed me where he keeps the extension lead. It was nice today to be able to look at the garden and there was quite a bot of shadow next to the house.

Just found out that Joe Duttine (Tim Metcalfe on Corrie) attended the funeral at the chapel. Some of you might know who I mean. I don't know him as I don't watch it.
