Hello all, what a mixture of weather. Rain first, then sun, then it got windy and went rather dark, then we had a very short but heavy downpour. Glad I didn't have to go out today.
Charrisse, so sorry to hear about your pains. Sometimes I don't know what to do with myself. Bad enough when my hip and back hurt while I'm standing or walking, but when I'm sitting down.I only take paracetamol for pain, which doesn't really work very well, but with what I'm on, my GP doesn't like to prescribe me anything as she'd not sure what I can safely have.
Christine, I hope you didn't damage your cornea when the Iris leaf stabbed you. It would be an Iris, wouldn't it.
Can't seem to concentrate properly today. But it's nice to see Toady paying a visit to the cafe.
I wonder how poor little Lexi is after her op?
Sending hugs to everyone who is suffering - so that's all of you then. :?"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Toady, I had to do it. I had to google 'buttery biscuit base'.
Hilarious. Hope the bloods went well today.
Barbara, I hope your GD does eventually get to Disney. It's so expensive, isn't it? My GD and the others on the trip are having a day there. Only because the school's orchestra have been invited to play there so they are calling in to support them. I'm so glad I didn't get poked in the eye by a stake. or should it beI have tops to go on them but they fall off.
Kath, didn't think of the connection of the iris and my eye. That doesn't sound too good if your GP doesn't know what you can have.
Joan, bet you are glad Lexi didn't need the op. Hope she is ok now.
After being very good last week and not buying ice cream, I caved in today and bought some strawberry and cream Ha*gen D*zs. Mmmmmm. It has rained most of the day but luckily, I missed it all.Christine0 -
Thanks for the commiserations ladies.. at the risk of repeating myself Barbara.. my pain is due to being Spinabifida with arthritic complications and I also have scoliosis and Ankylosing Spondylitis which gives me the sciatica problem.
At last things are beginning to ease up a bit. Just hoping it will continue. All the world is mad except thee and me and even thee's a little odd!

Hello Joan, Barbara, mig, Charrisse, Christine and anyone else who might be lurking.
It's been a very drizzly day here. Been shopping and also managed to find time to have a look around the local market. We have one on Wednesday, Friday and saturday. Some of the stalls are there all three days but others only appear on one of the days. Got myself and hubby a pair of slippers each, and I also got a new bed jacket and some nice trousers. I'm preparing for winter already.
Joan, poor Lexi, it must have been very unpleasant when her swelling burst. Did she have to have it dressed? :?
Christine, guess what I've just googled - yes, buttery biscuit base. Hilarious.
Charrisse, blimey, you do have problems. I used to work in a school for disabled children. Most had Cerebral Palsy and a lot of them had scoliosis. One or two had spina bifida. You are an inspiration having to cope with that lot.
mig, I hope you and your hubby enjoy the Corrie and Emmerdale tours.

Hello everyone,
I won't take me coat off, I'm not stopping.....who was it that used to say that?
Woke up feeling really nauseous, and couldn't stay awake....so I didn't! Feel a little better now, but a bit down so I'll read everything and get back later.
Much love to all......Cate.x0 -
Charrisse, you do have a lot going on. Hope things keep getting better for you.
Happy new hairdo Mig. Hope you enjoy the tour this weekend. I went to the studios a lot of years ago, went in the Rovers Return for lunch.
It rained here too Barbara. Seeing as my boss and his family are on holiday, I decided to work a bit longer today while it was raining and have tomorrow off as the weather is supposed to be not too bad. I think my eye is ok now thanks, just the usual wavey lines and dots and flashy lights which I'm stuck with. Mmmm, toffee and nuts. Sounds good. I know the tubs you mean. I saw a time lapse of teeth with a brace on the other night on tv. Can't remember now what it was on but it was amazing. I remember the name Torchy the battery boy but can't remember anything about it. I do remember a couple of holidays we had at Butlins when I was 13/14 and my family went with my mum's sister's family. My cousin and I were allowed to wander round on our own. We loved it there.
Kath, sounds as if you had a good day shopping despite the rain.
Cate, sorry to hear you aren't feeling too good. Hope you feel better by tomorrow.
I decided to stay at work longer than usual today so I could have tomorrow off. It got to lunch time and I realised I'd left my sandwich at home so came home for lunch. Then I found a painful lump on my gum. (Wonder what else will happen to me.) The dentist was closed but the lump has almost gone so I'll see how it is over the next few days. Then I had to go shopping for washing powder and fabric conditioner as there was none left at work. So it's seemed like a very busy day.

Afternoon all..its such a lively day we went to the garden center...
Kath..think we will all join mig on the tours while you have the bus ready..I will make a picnic basket up...good to see you got out to the market.we had ours closed many years ago and the next town that had a massive one was reduced to nothing to build a sopermarket  and its better to buy things you will need for winter when you see them
Cate..my mum used to say the same...bless it has rubbed off on mesorry you are feeling down,, dont forget we are hear to listen..and I hope the sickness stays away...something I have a phobia about..not in others but me
Christine good thinking make the most of the goid weather...oh sorry just saw the other bit were you had left your lunch at home..best laid plans has they say..the ice crean is toffee and pecan even better than the tall tubs and its alot cheaper at the min...glad you eye is ok..I get the black things floating around...is that age thing...mind you ..I am a lot older...we loved taking our sons then gds to butlins...its goid to no they are safe with fencing and security

Hello everyone,
not been a bad day today. Cool to start then warmed up when the sun came out, but not too hot though. Just the way I like it.
Barbara, what a good idea, hope mig and mr mig won't mind. Our market isn't half as good as it used to be. Same everywhere really.
Christine, it didn't rain until after we got home really. Even then it was just a bit drizzly. OH remembers Torchy better than I do. Don't know why, but it was one of his nicknames as a boy. I didn't know him then. Perhaps as well.
Cate, I hope the nausea has gone now. Best to sleep if your body needs to. Also hope you have found something to make you smile. Don't look at any photos of me, that'll bring the nausea back. :?
Joan, glad you have been rain free, and that you and sue can get out for a jaunt on your scooters.
Almost weekend again. time is just flying by. Had my MTX today, so back to the sore mouth again by Saturday. Ah well, the things we have to put up with. Another chapter gone up on my blog, and another two on Emily's. We are working hard.
Love to all. xxx"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Barbara, wouldn't it be good if we really could get the bus out and all go on a picnic together. Yes, I was told the floaty bits were an age thing. It is difficult saying no to cakes. I find it easier since I can't have wheat. The gluten free ones are usually very dry so I'd rather do without. The gluten free people who I get my pies from did scones last time. They are lovely. They are holding a competition for someone to win 6 scones. Fingers crossed. I'll need cream to go with them.
Joan, I noticed this morning that I have a big red stripe across the white of my eye and it is bothering me. Think I might need a trip to the optician.
Kath, oooh, more blog posts. Must go and have a look. I did think of doing one but have never got round to it. I do hope you don't get a sore mouth this time.
Spent this morning sorting photos again. Don't think I'll ever get to the end of it. I was planning on being in the garden this afternoon but ended up tidying the house. Quite pleased I did though. Earlier I watched a programme about all the things, mines, fuel pipes, train lines etc, which are all underneath our towns. Amazing what is there. Now watching a programme about 2 men and 2 women who are matched up and they will marry 4 weeks later without having seen or heard from each other. :shock:Christine0 -
Everybody will be welcome we will have a cracking week-end,booked in hotel for bbem and a late bar, think I will try a nice malt .cheers. Mig0

Sorry time has just flown by!
Well the violin grade 2 nearly ended in a non appearance as Lucy was really not prepared enough as she does not practice and she wanted to back out but we had one last marathon practice session, enough to gain confidence anyway. I wanted her to try and she did. Not sure what score she has yet but she was happy with her performance.
C how lovely that your Son could make the violin sing and a shame he gave up but at least he moved to other instruments. Lucy also has guitars and ukeleles and is about to change school to Senior so not sure what happens with the violin lessons from now on although she will be attending a Saturday club from now on. Gosh Cavatina is one of those songs that bring back special memories for me too!
Kath you will think I'm odd but I can't live with vintage things despite loving the 60's fashions. I'm a bit OCD I'm afraid  OH does collect china and stuff but they have a home high up on the bookshelves. He buys clothing from 2nd hand shops and always finds lovely stuff but he's not allowed to buy for me!
I finally managed to get my X-rays done and same day I popped into get my blood done too, then went shopping for food and drew out my Summer holiday cash (which will not last long)! Salted Caramel ice cream is gorgeous.
Barbara they are finicky about infections if you've already had a joint replacement. Hoe good that the brace is working so quickly. I'm encouraged.
Good day Toady...yep buttery biscuit base! I just find Masterchef interesting no idea why.
Lucy has just come home with a new hair cut a beautiful Bob! What a surprise. Think they had a job getting the knots out (yes she let it slip back again).
I must quickly post before I mess this up or lose it...will be back to finish

mig hope you are enjoying the tipple...sorry we didnt make it ..no one to drive the bus...
Elizabeth..its good that you talkedLucy into the concert, it will give her confidece for next time, I hope she has done better tha she thinks...yes the brace has worked in a matter of weeks, I will try and pot the pics she sent me, and it was free becsuse her dentist put her name down 2 years ago...thank goodness...hope the xrays are fine and the bloods..
it has been a lovely day here but just gone black... we have 3 baby blackbirds in the back garden, so have to keep watching the cats nexrdoorLove
Barbara0 -
Sounds good Mig.
Barbara, I hope you can get rid of the infection soon so you can get on with your other hip replacement. Are you taking anything for it? I can't remember if you said. And hope the MRI shows good results. I've only got 1 baby blackbird. They don't seem to be able to keep any more than that. It's been warm here but the temperature has just dropped and it's starting to rain now.
Great blog entries again Kath. Thank you both for letting us in to your life.
Elizabeth, it sounds as if Lucy did well in the end in her violin grade. How long will it be before she gets the results? Glad you got your x-rays and bloods done all at once. At least that's out of the way now.
Did a tiny bit of cutting back in the garden this morning. After I came in, my next door neighbour was out cutting back there hedge in the back garden. It's about 15 feet high now. He looked down between our 2 fences and saw his little girl's ball out shouted that he wants to get it out. Don't know how as the fences are both 6 foot tall and there's only a 6 inch gap in between. Just hope he doesn't break my fence trying.
Went down to the High Street this afternoon as they were having a WW1 festival. There were stalls with war memorabilia, a pipe band, the police band, an Australian choir and quite a few people dressed up and some soldiers marching up and down. Pretty good although I was in tears as the pipe band played the Scottish music that was played at my mam's funeral and that with all the thoughts of the people lost in the wars.I'm ok now though. Pulled myself together quite quickly.
Christine0 -
Morning all it rained hard last night but suuny at the min
Christine ihave steroud spray for my nose, and 3 lots of abs...
how lovely to come across the ww1festival..the pipe music makes the hairs on my neck stand up....I can imagine how it effected you thinking of you mum...t takes very little some times..but glad you enjoyed the day...
hope they get that ball out ok, you keep an eye on them..
we have our middle.GD here last night so we might go out for somthing to eat later...
I am still dreaming all night, and wake up withbedding everywhere, oh says I scream out  I am shattered when I do wake up...very strange. ?.its one dream after another..some bad some good. ?.
the kettles on hope everyones doing okish ...might just give the cafe a clean while Tonis away on her hols...Love
Barbara0 -
Hello all,
If Toni is on holiday, I'll volunteer for cleaning duties in the cafe.Don't expect things quite up to Toni's high standards though.
Empty the bins first.
Then wash those dishes.
Now the floor.
Coffee maker is on, and ice cream and strawberries in the fridge. If anyone wants some salad, that's all in the fridge too, and I've hard boiled some eggs to go with it. Off to sit out in the shade now."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Hello everyone,
No sun here, but warm though.
Elizabeth, well done to lovely Lucy for getting through her Grade. If I remember rightly, we were told there and then with each Grade that my son had passed. Much better than being left wondering. I dug out his last violin, and that brought back some happy memories. His grandad used to call it his vile din! My friend who - thinks! - knows about these things said it's worth a lot of money. I told her that, like many things I've kept, it's priceless to me.
Kath, me old flower, what a talented family you are. I luffs them blogs.
I wish our town still did all the things yours does Chris. It has such a history, but consecutive councils have just let things die. One of mine and my hubs favourite records was Peter Skelhern singing "You're a lady" with the gorgeous brass band accompaniment. The next town to us has a well known brass band.
I feel for you Barbara with the sleep problems. I'm the same, especially the dreaming bit. I get a lot of horrible night sweats too. I had a lovely dream last night though that was so real, about hubby and the lads when they were little. I was heartbroken when I woke up, and they weren't there.
The boys are trying to arrange for them all to come home very soon, when the schools break up. I won't hold my breath this time, nor will I spend copious amounts of money til I know for sure.
Our Toni's having a lovely long holiday isn't she, and I can't think of anyone who deserves it more. I'm thinking of a week in Spain in October, but when it comes to booking, I back off. We used to razz off here there and everywhere, but not so confident now on my own.
I hope little Lexi is well now Joan. Our pets are our family, and we worry so much when they are not good don't we?
Love to Toady, mig, and anyone else I've forgotten......Cate.x0 -
It's looking spic and span in here thanks to Barbara and Kath.
Oh Barbara, I do hope all that clears up your infection. The ball is still stuck between the fences. Maybe he has realised it's a silly idea to try to get it. How awful for you to keep dreaming like that, especially the bad dreams. Do you think maybe you are worried about another hip replacement and getting rid of the infection? Or maybe it's just the heat. I can't sleep for it.
Kath, I might have some of your ice cream and strawberries but not the salad seeing as everything's calories free in here.
Cate, his vile din? Guess that's what it sounds like when they first start with any instrument. Our council let things slip too but ever since the queen's jubilee, everyone has tried hard to get back the traditions. I'll keep my fingers crossed your boys get home together. That would be lovely for you. I'm not confident travelling on my own but forced myself when my daughter was in Dublin and it wasn't so bad. I now have to work myself up to get to Australia.
I've had a lovely day. Spoke to my daughter this morning, did a bit of gardening then spent a few hours with my son and my youngest GD. My dil was watching the tennis, my eldest GD was in her bedroom and my eldest GS was out with his friend so I didn't see much of them. It was quite warm today so we sat outside.
Hope everyone who hasn't been in has been enjoying some sun.Christine0 -
