    Hello everyone,

So, the kids are off for six weeks now Elizabeth. I used to be looked at as if I had two heads when I told other mums that I loved the school holidays. But it was great not being tied to time. We have a big, safe field behind our house, and my lads would be out there from morning till night with all the other kids, and I could keep my eye on them. All the mums took it in turns to feed and water them. Once a week a couple of us would pack them all in our cars, and take them to the cinema, or some other event. Happy days.

You will be worried about your little un Barbara, but I imagine her mum will be with her the entire time.

Thinking of you mig, and your sister-in-law. She sounds as if she's being very brave.

I've just had FaceTime with two of my grandgirlies. My son has bought a bike with a seat on the back for the little one. She looked so cute in a Peppa Pig helmet, singing Row row row the boat. The nine year old ran alongside, outside their house, filming them. Then they all went off for a ride in the country. Healthier for them than being in the car.

Love to Chris, Joan, Kath and anyone else I've missed....Cate.x

Barbara, that was a good bargain for the loppers. Think I paid £7 for mine from W*lk*'s a few years ago. How lovely to have more baby blackbirds. I only have the one although I did hear baby bird noises in the pampas grass the other day. Hope you get some pics of the Iron men. They must be super fit to do all that.

Mig I do hope it goes as well as it can for your OH's sister. Talk as much as you need to. We're here to listen.

Kath, I'm glad you feel happier again. I like the look of magpies but don't like the fact that they eat all the smaller birds.

Joan, the birds don't come in to my garden when I'm looking after either my daughter's or my son's dogs.

Elizabeth, I hope you managed to get to Lucy on time. I used to panic if I was late picking the kids up. It wouldn't surprise me if there were more storms the way the temperatures are up and down. I get brambles in my garden. I let one grow during the summer and get lots of fruit from it before I cut it right down.

Cate, I enjoyed the school holidays when my kids were little. Aaw, your GD must have looked lovely in her Peppa helmet. It's good that they go out cycling together.

I had a lovely day yesterday. It was my eldest GS's last day at junior school. There was a service in the little village church where the kids read poems and sang songs about leaving the school, the teachers and their friends. They also gave each other certificates which told them what good friends they were and how well they played sports or acted etc. There were tears all round. And the prizes for 'best at' were given out. Next we went to the school playground where all the school leavers let off balloons. Later they all went out on a party bus for an hour or so then went for a meal together. I remember walking out of the school gate after an almost normal day at school and that was that.

Today, I have chatted with my daughter, tidied up and got rid of some more of my hoardings, and made some gluten free scones. Mmmm, they were a bit flat as the mixture wasn't as still as normal but they taste good. I added grated apple for sweetness so I could use less sugar. Too windy to be in the garden but I got my clothes and bedding washed and dried.

Manged to get up for the iron man, and it was hammering it down so didnt go out, the poor cyclist they were soaked to say the least and I saw a few stop because they could see were they were going...then they had the marathon to look forward to...dont think I will apply for next year...
Cate ..glad you had the facetime with your GC...I bet they look forward has well as you.. :D I remember well the neighbours all looking after us if one parent was missing..and I am another that used to love school holidays..but it must be hard if you are not well...and in the days before technology and we would be out somewhere..
Christine..I sobbed away when our GC left juniors..they didnt do much when our sons were young...glad you enjoyed it..I think it nice to give them a good send off..so you are still sorting things out..we need to go in the loft and see what we have stuck in there.. good for you making the gluten free scones...and you have given me an idea with the apple for sweetness :D
Mig ..you keep on talking to us thats what we do listen to one another..I think when they inflate her lung she will feel a little better..is she in hospital or the hospice...the latter have more power to ease her pain...hope she is comfortable has can be..and look after yourself...
The kettle is on and I will sit bu the window for a ponder..would you believe the sun is out now...

Hello Barbara, Cate, Joan, Christine, mig, and anyone I've missed. Hope Elizabeth is not too bad, I know Toni is still away, so another clean is called for I think.

Look at all these crisp packets in the bin - er, think that might be me.

    c045.gif

Tip this bucket of dirty water down the drain before I kick it over. a055.gif

Oh dear, that won't do at all. a045.gif when does Toni get back. :?

Thanks for putting the kettle on Barbara. I'm gasping.

Christine, I love to see clean washing blowing on the line. Makes me feel very industrious. We have a rotary, so less walking to and fro, but sometimes I have problems with the pegs.

mig, I can imagine your hubby is very worried about his sister. I expect the whole family is. I hope her procedure goes well.

Elizabeth, how frustrating. It's not as though your were REALLY late, just a couple of seconds. :o

Joan, we had a late start this morning. Plenty of sleep, then another nap before dinner. You take care.

We've had some heavy showers today, but the sun is out at the moment. The wind is blowing, but in the house it's really humid. Hope most of you manage a reasonable weekend.

Glad you got to see the Iron men but poor things getting soaked. I can imagine they couldn't see with goggles on in the rain. Maybe they need little windscreen wipers. You've reminded me, I meant to have a look in the loft but forgot. Oh well, never mind. I'll do it another time.

Kath, I wondered where all those crisp packets came from. You've done a good job cleaning up but our Toni is the best. I'll have a quick wipe round in the toilets so it's not too bad when she gets back.

    h073.gif

I feel as if I had a walk back in time today. There was a guided walk around our town so I joined in. The guide was very good and kept pretending he was someone from the past. I knew some of the things he told us about but learned a bit more. On the way home, I called in to the little chapel which has just been reclaimed by the people of the town from the council. It had been used for storage and has now been cleaned and polished and looks good although still a lot of work to do. I walked back through the allotments where one allotment is covered from one end to the other with flowers. I love it.

I don't know why but, when I got home, I had a walk down to the bottom of my garden and, guess what. The ball I told you about which was stuck between the two fences had gone. That didn't bother me but my fence has been pushed further over so, instead of a few inches between the tops of the fences, there is now about 3 feet. Looks as if my neighbour must have jumped in between to get the ball. :x

Kath would you like to come round to ours and do some cleaning you are very good at it..not a clue who has eaten all the crisp.. mind you they have to be salt free...hope that chest is behaving..
Christine how lovey to go on a walk back in history..we had one in our cemetery once and the things I learned..the allotments sound so nice..I used to drift off in a world of my own when walking.. :) think I told you we have a pair of chapels and they have been run down..its beyond me that they dont protect our history..so the ball has gone wounder if they knew you had gone out..
our Dil has just text they have cancelled the baby's tonsil op..and will send another appointment in August..so its not long and will be after her 3rd Birthday...
I think Toni is die back soon so at least the cafe is all clean... :D hope they had a good time and all was well with Lucy...

    Hello everyone,

Overcast and very sticky here. Not much change likely either for the rest of the month, looking at the forecast.

I've said it before, but your town leaves ours standing for keeping it's history alive Chris. When my younger son was studying history at Uni, he came across it mentioned several times in the Doomsday Book, and other documents. I doubt any of the youngsters here today would know any of it though.

I hope they don't keep postponing your granddaughter's op Barbara. They seem to handle these things better, the younger they are.

Well, everywhere looks lovely. Kath's done us proud, but I'll just have another quick wipe round in honour of our Toni's return. I've also got her favourite macchiato ready to plonk in the machine.

I'll have a coffee myself and a strawberry tart, and sit awhile.....Love to Elizabeth, Joan and Sue, and thinking of mig and her sister-in-law. Hope I haven't forgotten anyone. Cate.x

    Hello everyone,

what a day!! I've been sorting out my email on my older PC. Thought I'd caused the problems I've been having - but no, it was dear old T****li.

Cate, I'm glad you had another wipe round I wasn't sure I'd reached into the corners properly. :?

Barbara, the crisps were salt free, that's how I knew they were mine. If you want me to come and clean for you, you must be as nutty as a fruit cake. What is a duster anyway? Glad Toni is due back, she's brilliant. :D

Christine, oh 'eck. I forgot the toilets. I am so rubbish. But I get through a lot of antibacterial wipes in my bathroom. We immunosuppressed girls have to be careful about germs. :? What a cheek, your neighbour doing that. :o

Hope Joan and Sue, Elizabeth, mig, Toady and anyone else I've missed are all OK. :)

Barbara, I drifted away during the walk too. It was quite relaxing. It's so sad that they don't look after your chapels. Apparently, our council are upset that a funeral was allowed to take place at our chapel and that the people who are now looking after it have found alternative storage for some of the council's rubbish that was stored there. How frustrating that they cancelled the baby's op. More waiting. You just want to get it over and done with, don't you? I don't mind the ball disappearing but I am annoyed about the fence being broken.

Cate, it is a shame that they don't look after our history properly. Are there any more strawberry tarts left? Haven't had one for a long time.

Kath, hope you managed to get through your emails and the problems. Glad everyone has done their bit with the cleaning. Corners? What corners? Yes, my neighbour does seem to think he can do whatever he wants.

Joan, I never did find the mouse. I think it must have run back to the fields as I haven't heard it for a few weeks now.

I thought my boss and his family were coming home on Saturday but they weren't there when I got to work so I stayed till lunchtime with nothing to do then went home. I used the time to clear a space in the bottom of my wardrobe and put my summer tops and dresses that don't need ironing in there. I've got far too many but like them all so they are staying for now.

Barbara, I guess councils don't have the money to pay for everything. I was talking to one of the ladies who has helped to restore our chapel. She said they have got one of the local landowners/builders to give them a big cheque and he said there is more. No-one round here likes him but money is money when it comes to restoration. I often get things out to sort then just stuff them in a cupboard. I could do with a r*g doct*r but don't think I could manage one if they are heavy.

Joan, I've not had a bad day today, thanks. All back to normal. Hope you and Sue are doing ok.

I resisted buying ice cream today but found some croissants which were half price so had to buy 2 packs. Had 2 for supper.

Hello all, hope everyone is feeling reasonably well. It's been a mixed day weather wise. Cloudy with sunny intervals and some rain. Thankfully it hasn't affected my joints - yet. :?

Good news, I've been taking a vitamin B complex which contains B6, B12 and folic acid. Apart from a very slightly sore tongue tip, I've had no other problems. That's only after one week, so I have high hopes of finally getting rid of all the painful mouth problems. I used to get splits in the corners of my lips, very sore lips, painful gums, inflamed inner cheeks and the bright red and very sore tongue. It's great being able to eat food that used to make me almost cry out in pain. I think someone on here gave me the suggestion, can't remember who though. So whoever it was, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. :D

Barbara, ME, ME, ME. No sugar, just a drop of milk. How lovely for your GD having a canoeing trip. Does the home have many escapees?

Christine, glad to hear you have had a better day today. I'm afraid I haven't followed your good example re: ice cream, I had a Mar****n choc ice earlier and have just finished a cheese scone. Yummy.

Joan, how's things over at your home? Hope Sue and Lexi are OK. :)

Hope Cate, Toni, Elizabeth and Toady are all doing well. xx

Barbara, are you going to try and get some money for the chapels? If you do, I hope you get plenty of support from the businesses. You could involve the papers and tell the businesses they will get advertising. My dad seems fine still. He's very friendly with one of the lady residents. His phone wasn't working at all a couple of weeks ago. My sister took it back to the shop who told her it was water damaged so we think he must have dropped it although he can't remember. Hope all is well after the police being round. It is a bit worrying when someone escapes.

Kath, I've got my fingers crossed your mouth is ok now and no more pain. It is difficult to stay away from the ice cream in the summer.

Well I did my duty today and visited the vampires to donate my blood. They were very good. Last time, my arm really hurt. I just thought sometimes it will so didn't say anything. They were very concerned and made sure all went well this time and kept asking if I was ok and to call someone if there was any pain at all. That's me done now till next March/April as it's a 40 minute walk, most of it along a long country road past the prison. I don't fancy doing it in the snow or after it gets dark before teatime.

Found out a couple of days ago that one of my neighbours died last week. My sister used to be married to his son.

Hope all is well with anyone who hasn't been in.

Morning all,Nice morning here the sun is out and it's warming up nicely.
SIL has had a bad couple of days and is having another scan this morning,we are going to ask for a meeting with her doctor as no- one seems to know what's happening long term.Im used to being in control and I don't find it easy to take a step back ,her husband died 10 years ago and they never had children so it's down to her brothers and sisters ,my hubby is a bit bewildered by it all and forgets things since his stroke and the others take the view that the doctors know what they are doing and will tell us in their own good time but we on here know you have to ask ask and ask again ,she is very deaf and dispite her hearing aids will say she has understood when really she hasn't .
Hope everyone is as well as can be Mig

Hello all, I love these summer smilies. Hope everyone is reasonably well. This is what we should all be doing right now. :deckchair: but it's a bit breezy here.

Barbara, scary indeed, :o Emily has updated her blog, and I've put an introduction to my home town on mine. There will be more info and photos on the next page if I can get my brain into gear.

Thank you Christine, all seems good at the moment. I had some brown sauce on my mushy peas today. Something I've not been able to do for a while. Mouth feels dry, but pain free. The test will come over the next few days, as it's Methotrexate night tonight. :?

Hope Joan and Sue are both OK, and Cate, Elizabeth, Toady, Toni, mig - I'm sure I've forgotten someone. Whoever you are, sorry.

You are having a rough time Mig. I hope the scan went well today and you managed to see the doctor.

Barbara, I do think we need a bit more time to do our posts. I guess I should carry some protection on the country road. It's the same one I walk along to get to my son's house. The people from the village often walk down it to get to the town centre and there are lots of cars.

Kath, I've still got my fingers crossed that your mouth remains ok. I'll go and check your blogs out.

Joan, they are taking their time sorting out your appointment. Hopefully you'll hear tomorrow.

It's my neighbour's funeral tomorrow. His GS who was my sister's son, died 9 years ago then his son, who my sister used to be married to, died a couple of years ago.

On a brighter note, I love the smilies.

I think a bit of this  and a bit of this :hammock: followed by some of this :splash:

My daughter and her husband won't be happy with :island-shark: or :swim-shark: as they swim with sharks and don't find them scary at all.

Mig I hope you managed to speak to the doctor..and your SIL is comfortable..
Christine suppose if its a busy rout you are safer..I do worry..15 years ago I was attacked by 2 men..I was only walking our little dog and she was 14 so I was worried they would hurt her..so in protecting her I couldn't defend myself..I was black and blue..they got away with my bag so got off lightly..
Its sad when people you have known die ...the GS must have been so young..
I love the smilies ...
Hope everyone has a good day. I am off out for lunch...I hope.. :bouncing-ball:

    Hello everyone,

Those Smilies are great, but just remind us what we're missing. :deckchair:

Barbara, what an awful thing to happen to you. I don't suppose they caught the scumbags. I'd like five minutes in a room with them.....me and me stick. Yes Chris you take great care, although I don't want to scare you.

So pleased that our Kath has got her taste buds back. Enjoy my darlin!

It sounds like you have a good doctor Joan to chase up your appointment. I hope little Lexi is well....and Sue of course.

Elizabeth, sit down and I'll get you a coffee and some salted caramel cake, and I'll join you. Dan will be OK for five minutes.

Thinking of mig and her sister-in-law, and anyone else I've forgotten.....Cate.x
