Barbara, that must have been so terrifying for you. I'm not surprised you worry. I'm always aware of who's around me but I guess it's easy to be distracted. My sister was saying they all died in the wrong order. My nephew was only 22. Hope you got out for lunch.

Elizabeth, hope you managed to have some time to yourself but you must be busy with it being the school holidays.

Cate, the smilies are great, aren't they? Maybe next week we can do them for real.

The weather is pretty miserable, isn't it? Doesn't look good for the weekend either. Tomorrow is farmers market day so I'll be going for my pies. But do I get scones or should I be good? The Gingerbread Mam will be there. She sells everything ginger and she said she's bringing trifles but I can't eat the sponge. :( Never mind. :hammock:

Hello all, the sun is out and it is really warm. :sun: OH has just been out to do a bit of tidying up in the garden. :too-hot: Think he needs an ice cream now.

Christine, tomorrow is supposed to be horrible weather - again. :swim-shark:

Cate, I'd forgotten what it's like to have a 'normal' mouth. I can now eat raw onion, sandwiches with mustard on, beetroot, all the things I had to avoid before. No cracked lips, no sore tongue. Oh it's marvellous.

Elizabeth, hope things are going well for you at the moment. :hammock:

Joan, hope your appointment date will come soon. :?

mig, thinking of you, OH and SIL. :(

May as well use the rest of the summer smilies to finish off. :bouncing-ball: :deckchair: :island-shark: :splash: :sunny: There, sending everyone hugs and best wishes.

Kath, it has been overcast here all day but only started to rain as I got back home for a few minutes. No sun but not really cold. I'm pleased for you that your mouth is so much better. Hope it stays that way.

Barbara, you must have had a lovely morning with your little one. Peeeeppaa Piiiig. :sunny: Got my pies. They kept a balti one under the stall for me as it was the last one and I got steak pies and turkey and stuffing ones. I wasn't going to buy scones but they had made cherry ones and said they wouldn't be coming next month so I did get some after all. They are based in Bishop Auckland and mainly do Stockton and Saltburn markets but recently went to a fair in Skipton. Other than that, they sell most of their goods online.

As I went out of my gate this morning, my nasty next door neighbour was just pulling up in his car so I went over and told him he had killed off some of my shrubs with his weedkiller and could he be careful next time. He tried to say he hadn't done it and then said he'd only sprayed the fence on the other side. I told him I knew he had done next to my garden as all the weeds there had died suddenly so he said he would be careful. I also said I'd noticed he'd pushed the fence over a bit getting the ball that was stuck between the two fences. He said he hadn't got the ball then suddenly remembered it was an orange one. (It was actually pink). So I asked him to be careful what he was doing in future. he just said Ok love then walked off. At least he knows I know and that I will say something.

Went in to town only for pies but went for a liquid lunch - a creamy mango cooler from C*sta. Found my sister, her partner and her grandson having a coffee at one of the other cafes. Haven't seen her for months and e usually end up arguing if I contact her but I sat down with them and everything was ok. There were an awful lot of pint-sized super heroes around and some fully grown ones at the top end of the town. I was a bit worried we must be expecting trouble. :swim-shark:

I had a red Thai Chicken Curry today. Three weeks ago I wouldn't have been able to tolerate it. Got a chicken Korma in the 'fridge for another day. Absolutely delighted. :sunny:

Toni, so glad to see you back. Not sure we managed to keep the cafe up to your standard, but we did try. :hammock:

Christine, we're having a bit of drizzle here, not as bad as they said. :bouncing-ball: Glad you made your feelings known to your neighbour.

I hope everyone is having a reasonably good weekend in spite of the very unseasonal weather. Have some more sunshine. :sun: :sun: :sun: :sun:

Did I hear my name ;) thank you barbara, I confess I have jumped straight in at the end and therefore yours was the first post I saw - I will catch up as I go. I have had my appointment and it was sort of ok :) (totally new dr & better than I feared) but haven't got very far as am a bit confused by the whole current situation - so was dr by the time I'd finished with them  anyway I will be going back for a follow-up shortly so will update you then.

Just a couple of pics to prove I've been outdoors, not very good but still:

    th_DSCI0014crop600_zpssgkp9o0o.jpg lavender, oregano & 2 bees
    th_DSCI0016crop600_zpsyks2w4ds.jpg hollyhock - my first ever :D
    th_DSCI0017crop600_zpsxyjcoqce.jpg peas

I love the summery smilies! So I will have a row of them as it is cold here!! and some imaginary sunshine will have to do. Back soon, hello to the returning frogs, and love to all xx thank you for keeping a seat for me. x

Welcome back Toni. Yes, it is very sunny inside the cafe even if it isn't outside. Glad things are well with you and Lucy. Hope the mri shows good results for Charley.

That's wonderful Kath. Enjoy your spicy food.

Joan, you've got my neighbour right. He is the type to think he is always right and can do anything he wants to. Hope you are all as well as you can be.

Barbara, I haven't had the balti pie yet. I had a turkey and stuffing one, it being Sunday. My boss came back on Monday so all back to normal again. Hope you enjoyed your breakfast.

Toady, glad you're appointment. So you and the doctor were confused? Hope you get answers at your follow up appointment. What a lovely colour your hollyhock is and your peas are doing well. I didn't get round to putting any in.

It threatened rain all day but didn't start till tea time so I managed a while tidying in the garden. I bought a rhubarb plant at the market yesterday so planed that. I've tried several times before bu they've always died within a couple of months. Bought a cucumber as well but not sure where to put it. Just noticed, I brought the ironing in to the living room to do and then forgot about it. Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

Afternoon Toady, Toni, mig, Barbara, Joan, Christine, and anyone I've missed.

Joan, thank you, I'm enjoying my food rather more now. :D

Barbara, got my thai curry from good old T***o. Going to get the green one next. I just wish I could give up chocolate.
    :swim-shark:

mig, I hope you get better news when your SIL's results come through, and good luck with your blood test. Here's some sun to carry beneath your brolly. :sunny:

Christine, I used to love ironing. Even ironed socks and pants. Now I don't bother with it. I fold the washing when it is wet, before hanging it out (or putting it on the airer depending on the weather) then fold it again as soon as it is dry. Job done.

Toady, glad to have you back in the cafe. The frogs will be enjoying this damp weather. Haven't seen ours this year yet. OH sunk an old planter that didn't have holes in it and filled it wil water. We used to have a frog doing breast stroke in it most mornings. We even bought him a little frog house with a slipway leading down to his swimming pool, but he obviously didn't think much of it.

So there i was worrying about the blood test as i thought it was to do with my liver and found out it was a new test that my gp is bringing in its called ckd chronic kidney disease and they are calling their patients in over a period of time to have this done ,phew.
So hubby is now feeling guilty because we can only get to see his sister every other day ,everyday is just too much for the both of us as it involves two buses and a tram ride each way and I'm sorry if this sounds selfish but i just get so tired . thanks for listening. Mig

As usual I'm shattered but having a mid-day kip helps, although I hate leaving the children to get on alone, especially Dan. but sometimes he likes us all out of the way, usually to record things (noises)off the internet Today OH took him to Dogstrust but the dogs are behind glass panels so you can't stroke them!

Hello Toady, it is easy to be confused and confusing with medical staff! I can't be bothered explaining things anymore.
That is same colour as my tall hollihock but it has bent in the wind.

Did I spy a Frog? When you have got through all the washing we'd love to hear about the holidays. I particularly want to know how hubby got stung twice!

Barbara I am livid about the 2 men attacking you! They can have the money and run but no need to hurt you, you'd do anything for anyone, and can understand you worrying about innocent little doggy.

I love the sound of the pies and scones Applerose. I'll have to find them online.

Mig You must take care of yourself too and pace yourself. She can call in the case of emergency and you'll both be there for her I'm sure.

I did some ironing today, I've just got to be in the mood.

Off to have that kip and some painkillers for left hip and ankle. Steroid injection on Wednesday usually gives me much needed energy so I can be there for the children instead of all this tiredness.

Love also to Joan, and Kath and Cate. Thank you for the salted caramel cake Cate,

Mig, I always wonder why it takes so long to give people their results. Hope your SIL is comfortable at least. Don't be feeling guilty about not visiting every day. It is a lot to ask of anyone and no wonder you are tired.

Barbara, it sounds as if you must have had quite a wait at the hospital. You deserved a cuppa after that. My boss came home last Wednesday so I've been washing and ironing clothes since then. I don't mind ironing at work, just don't like doing my own.

Kath, I have managed to give up chocolate. I was eating that much I was feeling sick. Problem is, I replaced it with ice cream and if I give up the ice cream, I buy crisps. Can't win. I used to love having my bedding ironed but don't do that now. I don't do socks and undies but like everything else ironed. I've got frogs in the garden but don't see them very often. I used to find them in the greenhouse but I don't have that now. Never seen spawn in the pond though.

I posted early as I'd taken rather a long time and was worried in case I lost it. :bouncing-ball:

Elizabeth, you'll be feeling tired as you must be more busy than usual with it being the holidays. It's a shame Dan couldn't get to stroke the dogs. The pies and scones I get are gluten free. This is their website http://www.glutenfreefoodproducts.co.uk/ . Bet you are ready for the steroid injection.

Another day spent doing mostly washing and ironing. I'd only been at work for 2 hours and I was ready for home. Think it's the weather. It started raining at tea time yesterday and still hasn't stopped.

Mig I have CKD...but caught a bug from a farm...hope the results were ok ..and glad its not your liver...hope the results are not to bad for your sil...its hard vising and you will feel guilty..but you have to do what you can..I learned this with my brother and parents I wore myself into the ground..you need to stay well yourselves..
Kath..have you tired the Te*co value curry ..thinks its the tikka and its good..mind you everyone's different..hope you continues to enjoy your food..one of life's pleasures :hammock:

    Howdy Pardners.

My goodness, can the weather get more miserable??? Yes it can. So let's see some sun.
:sun: :sun: :sun: :sun: :sun: :sun:

That's better. although we haven't had much rain to speak of, just a light shower, it's been mighty windy and cold. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Cate, isn't that just typical!! It's like waiting for buses, none for ages and the a whole row appears. :?

Joan, poor Lexi, she has been in the wars recently. I do hope her leg will heal now the vet has taken the grass seed out. Hope she can still play with her dumbbell. :)

Barbara, yes I tried T***o's Tikka before I had mouth problems. It is nice, but prefer the Korma. Tikka has a bit more bite.
    :swim-shark:

Oh dear Christine, I hope you managed to get some rest after all that work. Well done you for giving up chocolate - does that mean I can have your share now?
    :hammock:

Elizabeth, I need two short naps every day, and even then I'm ready for bed at 9pm. Mind you we do get up at 5am.
    :deckchair:

mig, you're not selfish at all. That's not so much a journey as an expedition, especially when you have a long term illness.

We bought Emily 4 books about vintage homes (1950s) one is a recipe book. They arrived this morning but she hasn't had time to look at them as she is in the throes of a migraine. She also gets cluster headaches, and has to lie in a dark room for a few hours. But she hopes to do a review of them on her blog. I'll let you know when it's done.

Well its good news in away for sister-in-law they said that the cancer hasn't spread and that they had managed to remove most of the tumour and will treat the rest with radiotherapy,so she just needs building up now.
    Thank-you everyone Mig

Barbara, it's not fair, is it, that all the yummy food is bad for us. The holiday washing is finished but a little bit of ironing still to do but it is never ending. So you and your GD have got appointments. I hope all goes well.

Joan, poor Lexi. Luckily they found the grass seed. It should heal ok now.

Cate, I found it a little chilly at tea time. Seems ok again but it hasn't stopped raining for 2 days. Apparently tomorrow's rain will be a little warmer. Hope you got your tv fixed and your shopping put away.

Kath, thank goodness for the sunny smilies. With all the rain we've had here, we'll all be :swim-shark: . Just for the moment, you can have my chocolate but I could easily change my mind at any minute. I've never suffered with headaches but know some people who have migraines and have seen how bad they can be. Someone I know said they get cluster headaches. I didn't know what they were so I looked them up. They sound horrendous. Hope Emily gets over it quickly.

Mig, that is good news about your sister-in-law. Hope she manages to eat and build herself up so she can deal with the radiotherapy.

Managed to get my own ironing done today and have made an appointment for a dental check up.

Morning all..it poured down last night but not the sun is out... :sun:
Joan I hope that Lexie will recover well..they are like children we do worry about them..the grass seeds are a big problem with animals ..our little Susie a jack Russel has a poorly ear because of them..
Cate hope the managed to mend your tv and you shopping being delivered at the same time at least after they had gone you could put your feet up
Mig that is good news hope the radio therapy is successful ..they will probably give her the build up drink if she doesn't feel like eating..hope you are resting in between visits
Kath poor Emily I suffered from migraines in my teens..awful things..then they disappeared..until this sinusitis...hope she enjoys the books...
Christine..yeah 2 appointments..one for me and the baby's tonsils..I will be worrying about her..good for you getting the ironing done..I have 2 piles at the min...must attempt it...how has your son got on with his house...and guess what we has a scarecrow event nearby, in Blackrod..and we didnt know about it..apparently its been going for a few years.
While I have been typing the sun has gone in and its raining again..right ironing here I come... :too-hot:

    Hello all,

mig, well that news certainly sounds a bit more hopeful for your SIL. Does your husband feel a little more optimistic? :)

Barbara, Emily started with dreadful headaches in her teens. They put her on Beta Blockers while they did investigations. They even gave her a brain scan. They eventually diagnosed cluster headaches and took her off the Beta Blockers. She still gets the cluster headaches, but occasionally gets migraines too. She gets some kind of tablets on prescription, and if she feels one starting, she takes a tablet and it stops it in its tracks. She has looked at the books now, and the review (with photos) is up on her vintage blog. :D

Christine, my mum used to get migraines too. She couldn't see a thing whilst having one, and also felt sick. She always said she wished she could vomit as she thought that would make her feel better. Sadly, they are all too common. :(

Joan, I hope Lexi is doing well after her op. :)

OH read that we are supposed to get a heat wave in August. If that's right, we will all be like this.
    :too-hot:

and hopefully be spending a lot of time doing this.

    :deckchair: :hammock:
