Good afternoon. Just read back.
I too thought it was Lucy so read it several times before I realised it was Daisycat! I was trying to work out why Lucy had a collar!
I am tired but that is because my brain is working overtime and even baked a cake with Lucy (the one that cheered me up) I was ranting and she offered me cake and it made me smile because it was so sweet of her.
I hope my Son is enjoying the Peak district, not quite Alaska but just as cold
I have to collect his AS results on his behalf tomorrow and dreading it. There will be no A's and whoops of joy.I'll be happy with D's and that he can continue with his A levels. If not we'll have to move him onto another course.
Cate can I ask if DIL and your Son go to her parents to stay? If so that would be very unfair. Or does she have a problem going to new places? She'll have to step out of the comfort zone sometimes.
Joan and Sue I'm sorry I missed your birthday. the weather was gorgeous at the weekend. I have a slightly raised garden bed but it needs to be a bit higher really.
Barbara I often snooze in the garden. Wish I could be out there today, the sun is just coming out so may be I will.
Yestyerday we went to a newly opened park and it was beautiful. Its really close to home so will be a regular. It has a walled garden and lots of benches, plus a stream and a wooden Japanese style bridge.
Well my Daughter has decided to do her radio broadcasting degree part time and is starting in October. So she still keeps her current job part time too.
How lovely you are all booked up for Australia Applerose. I'm glad you didn't ask your boss first as its done now and there's nothing he can do to stop you.
Kath have you been watching the going back in time to the 50's kitchen, and then through each decade? The 50's was brilliant! A tiny piece of liver to last all week on rations, fresh food had to be bought every day. We get through a pat of butter a day (I always knew butter was good for you. I've never swapped to margarine). They get the house decorated to match and have to wear the clothing from the period too.
No Toady? I hope she is okay. Better leave her the kettle on....
Best wishes

Hello each - can anyone remember Beryl Reid on the radio as Marlene saying that? Funny how these catch phrases pop into you head for no reason.
Barbara, doubt if we will get to see Ben. Think he'll be showing his GF the sights of London.
:sun:
Cate, so sorry about your shoulder keeping you awake. Hope you get some sleep tonight, and hope you enjoy the crumble. We luffs you too.
mig, I hope your scan went well - even with your legs crossed.
Christine, well done for being good. At least you know here in the cafe all food is not only calorie free, but won't harm your teeth either.
Joan, I hope you and Sue are getting out and enjoying the sun with little Lexi. Has your appointment arrived yet?
Elizabeth, just noticed you there. We watched it the first time round, and Emily and I kept texting each other with comments about the mum of the family. We found it really funny at times, but Emily loved the furniture, kitchen equipment and furnishings of course.
Sending hugs to all, including those I've not mentioned. :bouncing-ball:"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Hello everyone
Sorry to be late on, but my Lucy has a mouth infection. Spoke to Dr Tim who authorised a trip to GP for antibiotics as she hasn't (yet) got a temperature. I cannot tell you how much I was dreading another night in that hospital!! I think they trust me now. Antibiotics are started so hopefully she'll be on the mend soon.
Good to see you ElizabethThat cake your Lucy made was perfect for cheering you up bless her. Best of luck with son's As levels D's will do I agree fingers crossed.
That park sounds so lovely. I adore Japanese gardens!! So tranquil and 'good' for us :sunny:
Barbara I hope nothing did fall in your mouth while it was open and your neck was ok with the position it was in?
I think it is much harder to keep weight off as you get older....I weigh the same as when I was 17, but it's not in the same places for some reason :?
Joan I am the most thorough teeth cleaner in this house. the only one who religiously flosses, but sometimes I think it gets us no-where. I'm not great with chewing gum like Kath though I chew it and find I have swallowed it
Cate I am glad you have a lovely day - so do we and hope the heat of the sun has eased your shoulderLike necks shoulders are truly vile when they get going I think ((()))
Apple crumble? YES PLEASE!!! I will bring CREAM
Mig I hope you didn't get caught short this morning and the scan went ok. Yes storms later in the week I think.
Christine you are so good having nothing naughty in the house - I have lots of naughty stuff due to Lucy needing extra calories  I especially have to help her with the salted caramel ice cream!!!
I hate any kind of bigotism
Thanks for the pies KathThank Emily for us won't you? I rather like the sound of blackberry but will have apple happily today
I hope your nephew doesn't get subjected to any nastiness
I do hope Toady is ok she's been AWOL a while now
Love

its is so hot here... :too-hot: my garden thermometer showed 39...I think its the trees its a sun trap and a bit to warm even in the shade... :hammock:
Elizabeth how lovely that they have opened a new park nearby..that is a rarity...they would build on the land here... hope your son has done well for him...and cake makes me smile...
Toni not a clue if I swallowed anything...no buzzing inside..wish I was the same weight has I was at 17  i was around 6 years ago...I am glad you dont need another night in hospital..and I will have everything crossed the the ABs work for Lucy..
Kath what a shame you wont see your cousin..tell you what made me laugh at the 1950s the tin opener they hadn't a clue...
right off to watch bake off...Love
Barbara0 -
Yes Barbara, that was one of the things that Emily and I thought hilarious. OH always used one until recently. He's having problems with his joints now too, BUT WON'T GO TO SEE THE BLOOMING DOCTOR ABOUT IT. :x Sorry for shouting, but it does annoy me. Anyway, he now buys canned food with ring pulls. He hates opening tinned fish in tomato sauce though as he always ends up splattering everywhere up with the sauce. As he has OCD, it bothers him muchly.
Windy here today, and we're expecting thunder and rain later, so will grab a few rays of sun while it's still around.

Hi Barbara and Kath
The sun is still out here ATM but not for long methinks......
Men Kath they will not be told. Don't want to admit weakness, but moan all the same
I hope Barbara that no buzzing occurred overnight? hehe!!
Antibiotics seem to be holding. I keep checking Lucy's temperature in the night though - so stressful!!
I hope everyone else is ok today
Love
Toni xxx0 -
The tin opener made me laugh too but thats because I wouldn't know how to use it either!
Barbara its actually an old park but been abandoned and run down for a long time. They got a grant and did it up. Actually Lucy helped plant some of the bulbs.
I hope Lucy will be okay Toni but glad you didn't have to go back to the hospital again.
True story: a friend had to visit a lady in a house the other day and she gave him a slice of cake while they were chatting .He said it was the best cake he had ever tasted. When he left his companion said it was Mary Berry!
Okay so the results were as expected and enough to continue at his school. I took the opportunity to chat about other options and came up with a BTEC in Computer science at a local college. So when he returns from the Peak District I'll have a chat.
It is pouring down but at least we haven't had any thunder and lightening as both Lucy and Dan are scared,
All the best, hope those who have sunshine enjoy it while they can.

Hello everyone,
No sun today, but I did make the most of it yesterday. I was out in it from ten til six, and have got a lovely deep tan. And, best of all, my shoulder - well it's both really although the right one is by far the worst - has eased up a bit. Very muggy now, so maybe the thunder is on it's way.
Tin openers!!! They are the bane of my life. I've had every type under the sun. The One Touch ones are great for a while, then get twisted into the tin after a bit, and stop working. I'm using an old one of my mums at the minute, the type you dig into the tin, then break your wrist trying to guide it round. I don't know if that's the one you all mean. I don't buy many tins thank goodness.
Elizabeth to answer your question......of course time is spent with daughter-in-laws family. Lots of it. In fact Christmas and New Year just gone. As for whether she suffers from insecurity, or anxiety or any other hang-ups, absolutely not. If I told you the job she does, you would see what I mean. Anyway, the Bank Holiday weekend is off, and if I'm honest, I'm relieved. The gloves are off now, and I'm not strong enough emotionally to deal with it. My son will have to do that, although I've told him to leave it for now. I really don't want to be the cause of arguments between them. The irony is that when his little girl was born, I told him that things would now be very different, as she was his future, whereas I was his past. Oh well, it is what it is.
Thinking of lovely Lucy, and hoping that you've caught things in time Toni
Not long til your little grandgirlie has her surgery Barbara. Will her mummy stay with her the entire time?
Wow, the pies and crumbles didn't last long did they. Kaaaaaath, more pies please! I've got some Haagen Daz salted caramel ice cream, and some strawberries. But hurry up if you want some, because I go into a trance and jump on anything salted caramel.
Right, where's that big serving spoon.......Much love to all......Cate.x0 -
Hello Kathleen Christine Mig Cate Barbara Toni Elizabeth and anyone else I missed.
Kathleen I hope you have had a good day today.
Christine how are your eyes.
Mig have a lovely time away.
Cate i'm sorry you have the pain right down your arm I hope it settles
soon.
Barbara good luck for your m r I on Monday have you had a good day today.
Toni I hope everything went well with Lucy and you have all had a good day.
Elizabeth i'm pleased you have not had the thunder and lightening we were told we would have it but not yet.
take care all
joan xxtake care
joan xx0 -
Mig, hope you managed to hold it in till after your scan. Don't know if I could.
Cate, glad your shoulder has eased off. The warm sunshine must have helped. Yes, that's the tin opener we mean. It's a while since I've been able to use one. I don't think you would be the cause of arguments between your son and his wife at all. She would be the cause but I can understand what you mean. Hope you've left a little ice cream for me.
Hope you enjoyed your scones and cream Barbara. Think I need to give up cream now. I've noticed if I have it or yoghurt, I get stomach cramps. At this rate, I won't be able to eat anything. :swim-shark: 39 degrees? Wow, don't think I could cope with that. I remember laughing about the tin opener. Couldn't believe they had no idea how to use it.
Elizabeth, hope your son is enjoying his trip. I'm glad that he'll get to keep on with his studies. The new park sounds lovely. How lovely they got a grant and Lucy did her bit. They are trying to get houses on several of our parks. That sounds a good idea to work and study part time. Best of both worlds. My boss is fine with me having the time off now. Even had a laugh about it today. Phew.
Kath, yes at least I can stuff my face with all sorts of naughty stuff in here. I remember Beryl Reid on tv but not on the radio. Men! Why are they always so reluctant to see a doctor? Hope your OH does go eventually.
Toni, Lucy's mouth should be on the mend now. Thank goodness a hospital stay wasn't needed. It's definitely much harder not to eat the naughty stuff when there are others in the house. And of course you need to help Lucy out with it. :sunny:
Joan, my eyes are just the same. It's possible they won't get much better. Hope you don't get much of the expected rain. We are due it overnight which isn't so bad.
My boss's son got his a-level results today and is going to Oxford in October. The whole family were so excited all day. Apparently, his terms only last 8 weeks at a time so he'll be at home more than he's at uni. I was worried I'd have my hours cut once both boys are away but doesn't look like it now.Christine0 -
Hello everyone
Christine well-done to your bosses son. Good news that you will still have your work after her goes to Oxford. I am so sorry your eyes won't be getting much better now()
Thanks Lucy is doing fine now
Elizabeth! The Mary Berry story! Wow!! No wonder the cake was goodI wonder whether your son will be interested in going to college? He probably would enjoy it, but l am pleased he did well enough to continue in 6th form if he wants to
Joan - We had no thunder either, but constant rain pouring down  I woke Up having a migraine aura probably the weather. I hope it stops soon so the doggies can go out. Daisycat has been out already twice and got soaked twice
Cate good news your shoulder is so much betterI am pleased for you. Long may it last.
Sorry your DIL is so odd. I was also hoping she was just odd with everyone, but she's clearly very jealous and insecure about your relationship with your son. Many ((())) to you.
No where is that salted caramel ice-cream? all gone?? Cate!!!!!!
Hello to Barbara and Kath....and Toady I really hope she's ok :?0 -

Christine i'm so pleased you have not had your hours cut.
Toni i'm sorry you have migraines they sound nasty.
Barbara what time is your ap on Monday.
have a lovely weekend everyone.
take care all
joan xxtake care
joan xx0 -
Aaaw, poor Daisycat but when you gotta go, you gotta go. I didn't get any ice cream either Toni. There was only an empty tub. Hope Lucy's mouth is a little better today.
Barbara, it sounds as if your GD has a good little business going there. When is the baby's op? I can't remember. Must be very soon now.
Joan, hope you and Sue have a good weekend and get out with the doggies.
Well I got well and truly soaked on the way to work this morning. Couldn't help laughing about it though. Just as well I took a spare pair of trousers just in case. My DIL's dad got taken in to hospital a couple of days ago with a suspected stroke. Turns out it was a water infection so he's on the mend now. Poor man thought he was being attacked by gunmen and that someone was stealing his wife's clothes. Isn't it strange how a water infection can affect you?Christine0 -
Morning all it rained all night but the sun is out now...
Christine the baby's op in on Tuesday..at Manchester children hospital..we were worried it would be at the ones nearer but glad its there.
What a shame you got soaked..but glad you had dry clothes..its horrible having to keep them on...hope dils dad id still doing well..water infection in the elderly are common but like you have seen can be dangerous..how the holiday planning going..
Joan my MRI is at 10.30..and they are usually on time with them..so shouldn't be long not like the body ones..hope you and Sue have a good weekend
Off to a market in the next town..thats if we can park near enough..and will take the chair...I just fancy some fish and they have a good fish and meat market...what did I say its pouring down again.. :splash:
Hope everyone has a good weekend...xxxxLove
Barbara0 -
Lovely day here, not like yesterday. We don't normally shop on a Friday, but I had my blood test and surgery is opposite A**a, so went there instead of going to T***o this morning.
cate, my heart is breaking for you. Some people are so cruel. I do hope your son can make her see what she is doing to you. More pies, certainly. Mince and onion, cheese and onion, one of my old favourites, sausage meat with sage, tomato puree and chopped leeks. I found it in Good Housekeeping years ago. Some more fruit pies too. Also got some cheese and onion rolls for those who only want a snack, as well as sausage rolls. :P
Talking of Emily, she's put 2 more blog pages up, one about a trip to Blackpool with Alex, Chester and Campbell. Some lovely photos there. I've also put a seaside related post on my blog.
Elizabeth, your friend should have tapped Mary Berry up for some cakes for the cafe. Mouth watering at the thought.
Joan, I'm glad you didn't get any thunder. We were anxious of having any a it would have kept us awake and we don't sleep that well at the best of times. But it missed us too.
Toni, I'm glad Lucy is OK.
 :deckchair: :hammock:

Toni I was hoping Cate's DIL was odd with everyone too. I do think that as she is always going to her family to stay then she has no right to prevent her Husband and child from visiting Cate.
I always try to look at the deep reasons behind people's behaviour and give them a chance but I'm not keen on double-standards.
When my Son came home he was really upset and tearful about his results. I've told him plenty my time and chances to improve the results and he can always start again.
wow Oxford. Congrats to your bosses Son.
It is a lovely sunny day today and I've spent time in the garden. I did try and cut some trees that have sprung up between our house and the empty property next door (they still haven't moved in but owner told us they are playing up) seeing as the OH wasn't going to do it. I only managed a couple of branches though before he came out and tutted and cut a few more. Sorry but I need action because they are cutting out the sunliht in the afternoon/evening.!
Anyway although we didn't have thunder my siblings did and the house near Eastbourne that caught fire after being struck by lightning was 100 yards away from where my Brother lives.
My Daughter has arrived in Sussex and she is staying with her Dad a few nights before travelling up to us on Monday. I very rarely get to see her so I'm very excited. My Son is away again so luckily there is a spare bed. Still trying to arrange a trip to the beach and a stay in a cottage.
where is Toady? I do hope she is well enough to pop in and say an incy wincy hello.

I think the same Elizabeth where is she? Toady!! We all hope you're ok :?
Ooooh!! You're going to see your daughter?!! Fantastic
I'm sorry your son was upset. I hope he feels better in a day or so.
How scary a house on fire so close to your bro's
As*a is a good shop really you know Kath and always good for a change. They sell some stuff I can't get at Tesco like paneer cheese.
Your daughter is a busy bee with all her blogging - you too.
It sounds as though you are, but I hope you are keeping well
Barbara - Tuesday it is then for Baby. I bet that's a good hospital too. Lucy used to go to the children's hospital in b'ham for her epilepsy, but because she was 16 and 3 weeks had to go to the QE with her Leukaemia. Not that I'm complaining.
I am sure your MRI will be ok - you can cope can't you? Just incase they might put a sort of frame over your head to keep it still like they did for Charley's migraine and Lucy's epilepsy ones. Don't be frightened Lucy says it's ok - shut your eyes
Hope Market was good.
Christine Daisycat is brave when it rains, but today has LOVED it!! Had to get her in at 7 after Lucy and I got back from a veggie grill at the O* Diner here
Your poor DIL's Dad. water infections can really make people act odd bless him. Hope he's ok now?
Hi Joan Am ok today thanks unless I lean forward then I can still feel the headache!!
I hope you and Sue are ok and you had a dry day today
Love
Toni xxx
Love to Cate xx0 -
Not long then till baby's op Barbara then it'll be all done a dusted. And your MRI. My dil's dad seems to be doing ok, thanks. They are keeping him in for a while more though. I haven't done any more planning yet for going away but my daughter is planning things for us to do while I'm there. Did you get your fish?
Sausage meat pie sounds delicious. I've got some pastry in the freezer. Might try it. I love cheese and onion rolls. Haven't had one for a few years now. Just read your blogs. I think Alex does a good job adding to Emily's clothes. Skeggie is a lovely place, isn't it? You mentioned Butlins. I had some great holidays there when I was a child.
Elizabeth, sorry your son was upset. He can only do his best and, as you say, try again. Wow, thank goodness it wasn't your brother's house which was struck. How lovely that your daughter is coming to see you. Have a lovely time with her.
Toni, so Daisycat has been out enjoying the rain and you've been out for a meal with Lucy. Lovely. It is very strange how water infections affect people. My dil's dad is getting better but they are keeping him in hospital for a bit longer. Hope your headache goes soon.
I didn't go to visit my dad yesterday as it rained hard all day. I went today instead. They were having the summer fete. Dad won some ladies hankies and smellies on the tombola and I won a small evening bag and a bottle of wine. :sunny:Christine0 -
Hello everyone, lovely sunny day - I have washing out on the line. Emily asked me if I knew about any missing pies and cakes. I admitted I've been bringing them here. She says that's OK, as long as they are going to a good cause. She will bake extra now she knows where they are going. I thanked her on your behalf. She says it's nice to know she is appreciated. So another fridgeful of goodies. Christine, have you tried the sausagemeat pie yet?
:sun: :sun: :sun: :sun:
Toni, we actually prefer A***a to T***o, but it is a slightly longer journey. On a Wednesday we have to go to our PO, which is nearer to T***o anyway, so we actually only manage to get to A**a when I have an appointment at the health centre, which is just across the road. Sorry if I've confused you, I love George's clothes. Got OH a smashing pair of trackie bottoms while we were there.
:swim-shark:
Like the rest of you, I'm also worried about Toady. If only there was some way of contacting her to see how she is. :?I'll send her a big hug anyway, and also cate, Joan and Sue.

Kath glad you got the bloods test and the shopping done all in one..yes I have been thinking of toady..I will go and look at the blogs..
Toni yes Lucy has got the very best of treatment thank goodness..thanks for the warning on the thing that keeps your head still..at least I know what to expect..I am hoping it isn't has long as the body one...
Elizabeth how lovely your daughter is on her way to you..its so sad that your son is upset over his results ..there is so much pressure..but I am sure he will do well if he gets into something he enjoys..and be careful cutting the tree
Christine I did get my fish but made the mistake of freezing them all...I got 3 seabass..and they cleaned them for me..I could never do that...I hate the smell of fish but love eating it..so one is out the freezer now...how lovely that your daughter is planning for when you get there.. you must really be looking forward...and no work for 6 weeks...

I have to agree with Kath Oct 27th is a long way off, but as you said Joan, at least it's booked
Breakfast out Barbara? BREAKFAST?!!! How lovely
Even better as less cooking and washing up.
Tia is home and no Paul for tea so we will be having pasta!
I hope your MRI is quicker too fingers crossed.
Oh Dear Kath!!! We've been rumbled :? Tell her we are poor starving waifs and the pies are really helping and thank her for making extra for us :hammock:
George clothes are very good I agree and excellent valueProblem with ours is only ever parking
Thanks Christine I am fine today. Hope DIL's Dad is still ok? I have experienced that before with wee infections and also some medications can make older people 'odd'.
Daiyscat is happy today with all this sunshine and because Tia is back from her hols
Well-done your Dad winning prizes - I am so glad he's doing well
I hope Elizabeth and Cate are well.
Toady if you see this love and ((())) from me too and I agree with Barbara no need to read back

Hello everyone,
Ooh, sausage pie......and a few home made chips and mushy peas. Ambrosia...nah, not the puddin! That'll be apple and blackcurrant pie with custard. Thanks to our own Mary Berry....Emily
Kath, why don't you get your Asda stuff delivered? Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday it's only £1. I used both them and Tesco, but Tesco have now put their minimum order up to £40, which is often more than I want to spend, so it's just Asda now. I'm hoping they don't put theirs up.
Well done you Christine, winning your wine and little evening bag. You can take it with you to Oz, and get all glammed up, and get them to take you out for a posh nosh.
Barbara, you've just reminded me that I've got sea bass in the freezer. Salmon too. Trouble is I bought it when it was half price in Tesco, thinking it would do for when family came, and froze the lot all together. If I take it out now, I'll be eating it for a week.
Toni, I've had some great clothes from George online, and again delivery is quite cheap. Enjoy your pasta. Hope Lovely Lucy's mouth is better.
That's quite a wait for your appointment Joan, but at least you have got one.
I hope your son has got over his disappointment Elizabeth. He did his very best bless him, he can do no more.
I'll add my thoughts and good wishes to Toady, and hope she is well and just busy.......Cate.x0
