Started off dull, but now the sun is out. :D

All the Halloween food (and non Halloween food) is for anyone who fancies it Toni. Help yourself before the monsters eat it all.

    :zombie-cat: :zombie2: :vampire: :horror-movie: :monster: :trick-or-treat: :zombie-mummy:

Christine I sleep with a sock on my left foot, but my right foot has to stay unclothed and with my PJ leg rolled up on that side. Also have to keep the duvet off it, as it gets very red, hot, sore and itchy. Not sure if it's the Vasculitis or the Nodular Prurigo or Lichen Simplex. I just keep putting lots of cream on that side. I've also wondered if it could be Cellulitis as it is only on one side. :?

    :skull:

Elizabeth, I can sympathise with you about the itching. Mine isn't quite as bad as it was (mainly on my right leg now) but I'm not out of the woods yet.

Joan, I hope you and Sue have a nice quiet evening. Hope the trick or treaters leave you alone - hope they leave us alone too.

    :pumpkin:

Toady, thank you for the fudge. :D

Thinking of Cate, and anyone else I haven't mentioned.

Hope everyone's as well as possible.. happy Halloween everyone, not that I do anything about it whatever, but I might have some of the spooky food thank you everyone :)

frog my cold feet are the cowardly sort  but thank you & I did get chilblains all last winter so I'm expecting them any day now & prevention would probably be a very good idea. I have some knitted slipper boot things on the way in a catalogue order.. I found some very nice things actually that I waited too long to order & sold out so I'm cross with myself as I do that all the time and I never learn.

Plenty of undrunk green tea around then lol, it always sounds so nice, and herb tea.. & the packets are so pretty (world's biggest sucker for packaging) & you see yourself sipping it a la glossy magazine lifestyle.. but reality is different.

Sorry not to be able to take much in about cafe doings right now but thinking of you all xxxx

ps I have a suitably spooky story.. one of these :spider: turned up in my bathroom in the earlyish hours, half-hanging out of the grille above the lavatory would you believe.. huge legs sticking out in a rakish fashion.. horror! :o:o I sprayed some old peach scented air freshener (never use it, hate the stuff) to get 'im to retreat, and then.. once I got the nerve up.. fetched a bit of cardboard, smothered it in glue & walled up the grille.:lol::lol:

Toni, there have been more steelworks redundancies near here. It's bad enough at any time but even worse coming up to Xmas. I don't understand why, if businesses have to do it, they don't do it 6 months earlier or tell their employees it will happen after Xmas. At least that way, the employees have time to try to sort something out.

Barbara, hope the Halloween cakes turned out well. Did they clean up after them? I sat here dressed as a witch for 3 hours but not one person knocked on the door.

Kath, I think the trick-or-treaters have been in and eaten all the lovely food. I hope you manage to sleep ok despite the one leg in, one leg out situation.

Toady, it's the packaging that draws me in too. Love the d-i-y grille cover. At least the spider will smell lovely.

Joan, hopefully the man was suitably horrified by what he did and will take more care in future.

Mig, exactly, who cares what combos of food we have. I have what I want. Doesn't matter about matching one food with another. Sounds good.

It was my dad's birthday yesterday so we all went up to the home with sandwiches and cakes. My sister took a big birthday cake and I took witches hats for us all to wear. He seemed to enjoy it and insisted on keeping one of the hat's. Wondering if he wore it when he went for tea. :vampire:

I dressed up as a witch last night ready for the kids coming round. Not one knock at the door. Feel a bit silly now but have got a cauldron full of chocolates and sweets. Here is my pet spider. :spider:

    Morning Café dwellers!!

Lovely day today sunny after last night fog - perfect for Hallowe'en wasn't it?

Thank you Kath I have been helping myself anyway. The monsters were so full-up on Emily's goodies they were sleeping on one of the sofas!!!

I hope that foot isn't cellulitis  I'm sure you have 'shown it' to someone who know though.

Joan. That was nice of the man to bring flowers. I bet he is really feeling awful and can't stop thinking about what happened. Still so long as Sue is on the mend.

Christine I often wonder the same about warning employees of impending trouble. They can get ready and save a bit then, but imagine they are really trying hard for it to not come to that??? :?

Your Dad had a great birthday!! I think it's great he kept a hat - bet he did wear it to make the staff laugh :)

Barbara How did the baking go in the end?? Even if they did make a mess I reckon you did ok so long as the party wasn't at yours!!

No trick or treaters here either. Wonder whether it really was the potion we concocted in the cauldron??

Toady I hope the new footwear does the trick :) Like you I often delay making decision till it's too late.

As for herbal teas. Thing is you don't know what they are like till you try them do you and often they are a bit vile!!! hehehehe!

    mig these are for you!!

Hello everyone, hope you all had a good night. We didn't have any callers thank goodness. I don't like opening the door in the dark. :skull:

Toni, erm - I'm a bit lax about showing any new symptoms to medics in case they refer me to yet another clinic. I'm down to just two now, but once had five. Rheumatology, Dermatology, Oncology, Respiratory and chemotherapy. I will show my chest consultant tomorrow (appointment at 09.45, she has an interest in skin problems and she has been know to ask my GP to give me antibiotics in the past. hehehe.

Anyone remember this from years ago?

    Hi, everyone
This is my first visit to the cafe so I hope there's room for one more. I've been having a read through the posts.
We all seem to have had a quiet Halloween, The last time I was at the hairdresser the (young) girl shampooing my hair said that she liked Halloween better than Christmas!
I'm signed off work at the moment. Haven't been at work since my rheumy appt on 5/10 and my sick line is until 21/12! Just wish I'd get peace to make proper use of it but seem to be going to this appt and that.
My work is sending me to the OH again and waiting for appt for that. Just know/dread that they'll want me in early next week. Next week was going to be a leave week for me and me and hubby are still going away. We're going to visit our sons neither of whom we've actually seen since April... much too long.Yet somehow I'd feel guilty trying to explain that to OH or my manager. Ho hum.
anyway I think I'll pop round to the chemist and see if they've got some little tubs to decant my body lotion into, I can't find any at home at all!

Kathleen you mentioned vasculitis in a previous post. I don't think I've seen anyone mention that before. What kind do you have? I was diagnosed in July with large vessel vasculitis and inflammatory arthritis and that's the reason I'm off work just now as the rheumy is trying to get my steroid dose sorted but its basically messing with my head at the moment and if sleeping was an Olympic sport I'd be up there on the podium!

Anyway, nice to finally get to the cafe, all the best to everyone and enjoy the rest of the afternoon

Joan, hehehe, I remember that one. Young ones today would look at us as if we were barmy but we know what we mean.

barbara, a cuppa and cheese on toast would suit me just fine.

Hope everyone is feeling OK in spite of the fog.

    :horror-movie: :monster: :zombie-mummy:

My appointment with chest consultant went well. She is very pleased with my breathing test results, but is still sending me for a proper Spirometry test, and a heart scan. She has referred me for a DEXA scan so that's 3 appointments I'm waiting for.

When I got home there was a letter from my rheumy. I have to stop Methotrexate for 4 weeks. Have a blood test before, and after, to see if it makes any difference to my liver enzyme results. My next appointment with her is on November 30th, by which time they should have blood test results through and know what's what.

Hi slomo, just noticed you there. welcome to our lovely cafe were all food is calorie free so help yourself.

I have Rheumatoid Vasculitis which is a complication to Rheumatoid Arthritis. If you're interested you can read all about it on the Vasculitis UK website.

    http://www.vasculitis.org.uk/about-vasculitis/rheumatoid-vasculitis

Hope your treatment works for you. :)

That link made interesting reading. I had urticarial vasculitis a few times and thought it might be similar - nowt like it!!

Shame about coming of the MTX for a while :(

    Let's hope it helps

Hello SLOMO :) big welcome to the café from me :) Always room for one more. While you are off sick you might enjoy hanging out in here. Food is calorie free so cakes cream and Kath's Emily's goodies can be freely consumed :)

Joan - I am glad to hear the driver is now driving out forwards. He's learnt something, but I should think he won't forgive himself for hurting Sue I know I wouldn't :(

Barbara I am sorry you got no cake the meanies!!! Maybe there's some of Emily's here somewhere??

Back to driving as of tomorrow. This morning I had some fillings replaced in my front teeth....big ouch! I'd had them about 20 years and they were proper discoloured

    I used to smoke

    I hope everyone is well

Hello everyone, thankfully no fog - except the thick onein my brain. Hope all are not feeling too bad today, but I expect that's too much to hope for now we're on the road to winter. :?

Barbara, hope things are OK with you and yours.

Mig, hope your appointment goes well and that you find the good Dr P in good health and a good mood. She has been a bit off with me once or twice, usually when I've questioned her decision. naughty me.

Toni, I didn't know you'd had Urticarial Vasculitis. Must look that up to see what the differences are.

Sending love to all, and hope that Cate. Elizabeth, Toady, Joan and Sue are all OK.

    Hi everyone
I'm back for more calorie free food!! Actually I'm looking for my original post which may or may not suddenly appear but is probably floating in the ether somewhere so this is the 2nd edition and likely to be shorter partly cos I can't totally remember what I said !!
Kathleen - I've looked up your vasculitis, not nice, I think I'll stick with mine even though it causes inflammation in the aorta and femoral arteries. Obviously if they should get so bad they burst then its goodbye time pretty quickly. The steroids are definitely reducing the inflammation although messing with my head I think.
Toni - I must look up your vasculitis and see what it's party tricks are.
Barbara - I believe I was having a moan about my managers lack of understanding of my illness when my post vanished. I've explained everything to my manager and when I had a OH appt in August (pre steroids) they even included website addresses in their report so he knew where to find more info. Now in this OH referral he has mentioned that I'm sleeping to 10 in the morning but no mention of my high stress and anxiety or my very rapid heartbeat when I walk or go upstairs. So I really quite despair of him.

Anyway enough of that or this post might head for the hills too!!
We've had a lovely autumn day here today and I managed to go out for a short walk to enjoy it and to find a nice big pile of dry leaves to kick my way through. (That's a throwback to my childhood when we lived in a street with big trees down it)

I'll love you and leave you now and maybe next time I'll manage to get my post on properly first time

    Evening everyone :)

I hope bloods went/go ok Mig.

I would like to meet Dr p ;)

Kath My vasculitis is boring next to yours and Slomo's!!! Just a nasty nasty allergy which causes joints to swell too and leaves bruises.

The rash is v v v v itchy and you ALL understand that! and any contact even slight causes is once it's started. Leaves bruises afterwards like I've been beaten up!!!

No fog here either apart from across the Chase (forest), but oh so dark :(

I managed to get a cold! First in at least 3 years. A proper shivery one so wearing a mask to protect Lucy and it's HOT!!!

Slomo steroids mess with my Lucy's head too (with her IV chemo), she can get very moody and tearful too. Sleeping is hard. We do 7am and 2pm no later. she takes 2mg dex twice a day equivalent toabout 30mg pred. Horrible stuff by great for killing cancer cells and reducing inflammation and opening airways for those with breathing problems.

I leave some leaves for you.....

    s020.gif

Well-done Barbara for getting some Christmas shopping done. Charley and Tia are both after bottom drawer stuff this year.

I hope Elizabeth is ok as well as Joan(and Sue ((())) ). Does anyone remember when cate is due back?

    Love to you all

Toni, I hope that cold isn't trying to make up for you not having one for a while. Glad your fillings are over. I'm going for one on Friday. Hope your neck doesn't get painful now you're back to driving.

Hi Slomo. Welcome to the cafe. I think we've all lost posts for one reason or another. It's so annoying. I;m glad I'm not the only one who loves kicking the leaves as I walk through them. The ones here are a bit wet after the rain so don't make much noise. I hope you manage to get your boss to understand.

Kath, my rheumie wasn't to happy with me when I questioned him about something but I think we have a right to find out all we can. Glad your chest appointment went well. Hope the rest do too.

Barbara, I don't blame you getting your Xmas shopping online. I do too. Used to love wandering round the shops but really don't like it one bit now.

Joan, don't think I'd dare wear my witch's hat to go to the shops. Ha ha. At least the man will take more care now driving out forwards.

Saw the dentist yesterday. She told me x-rays show I need a filling. Going on Friday for that. I've read through the second module of my course. Still got the questions to answer. And put some more photos on FB. it's taking me ages to do that as I can't stay on the computer for long. Looking after my youngest GD tomorrow while mum goes to work.

    Welcome from me too Slomo.
Note to Frog at the back of the understair cupboard are some bottles of left over potion from the cauldron I'm letting them ferment for next year so please don't throw them away,if any of them threaten to explode RUN.Mig

Ok Mig - leave the bottles do NOT touch the bottles. In event of explosion leave the building ASAP ;)

I am glad your rheumy is lovely - mine is too, but a chap.

Poor Christine - a filling :( I hope it's not painful. I'm glad mine are done now.

I think the cold IS making up for not having them normally!! Bad news is Lucy has caught it! This is despite me wearing a mask whenever I am near her and multiple handwashes.....antibacing of lapt top etc

Off to Brum later to meet up with one of Lucy's chemo-crew and her Mum.

    Love to everyone!

    Hi everyone
I'm here quite early today. OH has ordered me a new mobile phone and according to the order page it has been despatched so thought I'd better got myself decent in case it comes this morning - which it probably won't now!
Tomorrow I've to get a blood test and my 1st ever flu jab, hope there are no side effects. Friday I'm getting my 1st ever bone scan, so busy couple of days coming up. At least the bone scan is in the local hospital which is only about half an hour away and not where my rheumy appt are which is about 2hours away from me.

Speaking of rheumys Applerose, mine is tall dark and handsome, understands that I like to know the 'workings out of things' and has a particular interest in vasculitis. I'm really lucky to have him, I think. As for getting my boss to understand my condition! I think I'll have retired before he does. Now his boss - she's a lovely lady, but one must go through the proper channels, I suppose.

Toni, thanks for the extra leaves to play with. My boys always used to try to disown me when they were younger and I was leaf kicking and scrunching.

Barbara, well done getting on with the Christmas shopping. I've no ideas about any of it yet but I suppose I should really set my to thinking about it.

I'd best be off now I suppose and get a bit of housework stuff done. No mobile has arrived although a parcel van did stop outside but it was a false alarm, was for across the road. I'll just have to be patient.

    Take care everyone

ecky thump the sun's shining. :D

Feeling a bit fed up. I told you about the heart scan and spirometry. Well, rheumy wants me to have a liver scan or fibroscan. Wish I could just remove the necessary bits and parcel them off for the tests while I had a good kip in one of the cafe beds - which reminds me, hope Cate is OK. :?

Barbara, I have all family presents thanks to the long river in South America. Next day delivery - mainly foody type gifts.

Slomo, hope your scan and flu jab goes OK. The worst I've had with my flu jab (not this year though) is a sore stiff shoulder for a few days. When you say bone scan, do you mean a DEXA or a different type of bone scan?

Joan, glad you managed to find the right page today. Getting used to a new forum setup can be a bit tricky.

Toni, I'll stand in front of you to protect you should mig's concoction explode. Enjoy your trip to Brum. My chemo group often have meet ups even now, I've never been to one though.

Christine, I hope your filling goes smoothly.

I've just had a peep at some of the food Emily is delivering tomorrow. MMMM.
Vegetarian Shepherds Pie with Champ topping (no that's not champagne, but it does have red wine in it.
    Italian style chicken casserole
fish fillets with grilled red pepper sauce
    Baked apples with spiced sultanas.
    Pumpkin pie and.......
All your favourite cakes, chocolate, ginger, banana, carrot, scones, homemade jam and lovely crusty bread.
