Hi there, I started getting a painful knee during the last year, and have recently been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis. The doctor suggested I tried one of the gels, so I got Voltarol on the pharmacist’s recommendation. My question is, where on my knee do apply it, all over, or just on the sides and the back?

thanks

Welcome to the community! You're in the right place for advice from our lovely members! I can personally recommend Voltarol for short term relief- I use it myself (just don't touch your eyes afterwards!) Where you apply it would depend on where the pain is. If you can specify the painful area then you can target that with the gel- if not then spread it evenly. If you're still in doubt then just pop back and ask the pharmacist.

We have a bit of information here for OA and knee pain which could be of some help to you:

If we can help with anything else at all then please don't hesitate to post or comment. It's great to have you here!

    Take care,

    Hi.

I have osteoarthritis in my right knee and my Doctor gave me a prx. for Fenbid. It does help a bit and I massage it in over my kneecap, down the side and front of my shin where it also aches. The only drawback is that on the packet it says it is highly flammable and not to get near heat! Other times I also use Ibuprofen Gel and have used Voltarol, but found that Voltarol hardly touches the aches and pains.

I will try anything if I think it will help.😊

    Take care.
