Welcome to the forum, @Cath1234 I have arthritis and my fingers lock, but it is not necessarily the case that because your fingers lock you have arthritis.

Have you spoken with your GP or a Consultant. I know that securing an appointment with either at his time can be difficult, but you do need to get a formal diagnosis if you are concerned.

Presumably you are in pain, so this link may help, together with a second on hints and tips.

My own personal one is to wear fingerless gloves when may hands are causing me problems. Keep posting and let us know how you progress.

My fingers have locked up in the past but there are a few causes one of which is carpel tunnel syndrome so perhaps a visit to your GP will help?

    it’s a grin, honest!

    Hi @Cath1234

I was diagnosed with trigger finger in July 2019 where both middle fingers in my left hand would lock up regularly and very painfully. I couldn't bend the fingers when this happened. The only means of relieving the pain was to massage the joints at the base of the fingers until they freed up. Due to a cockup by my GP I didn't get to see an orthopaedics consultant until November 2020 - a week after I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. The consultant confirmed it was trigger finger in these fingers and gave me steroid injections into the joints at the base of my fingers which sorted that problem. With PsA my hands and wrists get sore and I wear compression fingerless gloves and can recommend them.
