Hello Jacquie @Jacquielinka Welcome to the Versus Arthritis online Community😊

I understand from your post that you have had a recent diagnosis of Osteoarthritis (OA) in your feet and are inconstant pain with them.

I am going to attach some information about Osteoarthritis specifically the feet which might help you. It does contain information about managing the condition which might help:

In addition here is a thread from earlier this year where memmbers are discussing foot pain:

@jamieA is still very active here and was one of the helpful contributors to the discussion.

Finally and because it is tough being newly diagnosed do take a look at this:

    Best wishes

    Ellen.

Pain in your feet is really tough.

Getting the right shoes is essential though I think to start with also use walking aids if you need to keeping moving is so important for our health.

I soak my feet and if needs be rub some anti-inflam gel into mine.

If they are sore in bed I have had to put something (pillow or rolled up towel) under my ankle to keep them off the mattress at times.

    Take care

    Hi @Jacquielinka

I think it might be a good idea if you can be referred to an NHS rheumatology podiatrist in your area if possible. The podiatrist I saw specialised in arthritis and it was obvious she knew what she was doing. She suggested to me that getting the newer type running shoes that have extra foam in the soles and heels would help. In my case my psoriatic arthritis has left me with metatarsalgia (pain in the balls of my feet and under my toes) and inflammation of the entheses of my heels. Her suggestion was for the running shoes with the carbon fibre plate in the post @Ellen referred to above. Unfortunately I can't get these in wide fit. Before this I usually wore flat deck shoes at home so I've moved to shoes with cushioned soles and a larger cushioned heel and that has helped. I also wear proper cushioned insole walking shoes when out walking and I've also bought gelled insoles and heels for my other formal shoes.

    Hope this helps.
