Puzzled after visit to Consultant
Hi .. Hope all are as well as possible.
I have had severe mobility problems and have had constant pain in both knees for some time. I had an MRI done for the appointment with a knee specialist, which took some time to get.
I finally saw him and he is one of the leading guys well regarded, but he surprised me by saying I will not do surgery as I think it will improve with supervised exercises and the pain will stop. He said my age , 75, and my general health issues would make recovery quite difficulty as I live alone and would need convalescence. he recommended classes run by the National Wheelchair Association.
Pain definitely improving anyway without doing exercise and I can walk without pain , be it only a short distance.
I must say I'm surprised as I expected to be told I needed new knees !

Hello @Terryofcrete and welcome to the Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience as well.
I understand that you have pain in both knees but are not getting a total knee replacement. As you say unexpected. However have a look at the following links from our website and see if these help at all. If it gets worse I would go back to your GP.
and these might help
Please keep posting and let us know how you are getting on and I am sure that others will connect with you to share their support and experiences as well
With very best wishes
