weather or hydroxychloroquine?

Evening all,

I started a daily dose of 200mg hydroxychloroquine last week (I had been on 25mg methotrexate since June and am aware it can take 12 weeks before noticing an effect) but the last couple of days my knees have been more achy - I'm trying to work out whether it's linked to the cold or something else going on. This is also the first winter since my rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis.

Any advice welcome!

    You could be reacting to the change in dose. If you get concerned call your rheumatology nurse.

    My guess - purely an uneducated guess - is that you were put on the hydroxy because things were already getting worse. If that's so I can't see one dose making anything better and, indeed, they might continue to get worse until the hydroxy can take hold. The extra work and stress of upcoming Christmas won't help.

    You could ring your rheumatology helpline for advice but it might be too early to say anything definite though I don't recall anyone saying hydroxy actually made things worse. I've been on it and meth for years. I hope they can work as well for you.

    If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
