Mild arthritis
I was told I had mild arthritis in my hips 18 months ago after a lot of pain an xray was done and mild arthritis was the result. last summer my hands started becoming really painful but I’ve managed with some pain killers and pillates/strengthening exercises for movement. Have been in a lot of pain since last week in hips and hands so went to the drs today and was told it’s just mild you shouldn’t be in to much pain what do you want from us! I honestly don’t know as I hoped as the dr he would have some suggestions for me. I did say a decent nights sleep would be a good start I’m exhausted and finding doing my job really hard. He has given me more painkillers and that’s it. He’s made me feel like I was fussing over nothing! Has anyone got any suggestion as to what I should have asked.

Did you stress the impact on your life this is having? I there another doctor you can see?
In the meantime have a look at the following - I hope they might be of some help.

I hope that you get some answers soon.

Perhaps should have asked him how he could be confident the hip arthritis is still mild. Some progresses slowly, some progresses quite rapidly.
Have you had good physiotherapy advice? I do think people with arthritis need personally tailored advice, as we are all different, rather than just a generic leaflet, which is what the NHS seems to do. A friend of mine developed severe hip pain, but only showed mild osteoarthritis on X-ray. She was dismissed by her GP pretty much like you have been. She paid privately for a very good physiotherapist locally (from friend's recommendations), and did get tailored exercises that have made a big difference.
