Hi , I'm Tracy and new here. I am waiting for a new knee as have severe OA in my right knee. Also effected in my left hip . I am struggling with the pain at work and it is affecting my job now as my movement is restricted. So far my employer has been supportive but was wondering if anyone has any advice if work eventually gets too much for me .

Hi @tracypinky welcome to the versus arthritis online community.

I see from your post that you are struggling with Osteoarthritis of the left knee and right hip and are worried about working if things get worse. It is very good to read that your employer has been supportive so far.

It is good that you are (hopefully) on the list for a replacement knee I very much hope that will not be too long now before you have your surgery.

You don't say what your work consists of, but perhaps it might be possible to work from home if things deteriorate more before you have your new knee?

I don't know whether you have read this?

    My best wishes

    Ellen.

Hi, I'm also waiting on a left knee replacement and still working. I'm a nurse working in a unit instead of a ward. I get a seat when I need one. I walk within the hospital at my own pace (slow). You will find taking painkillers help you to keep moving. Speak to your boss, so they are aware You are struggling. Ask about a referral to occupational health. I'm going for my ortho appointment & pre assessment next week so hopefully get my operation soon within 3 months.
