Cycling with Osteoarthritis
To exercise my stage 2 osteoarthritis right knee, I cycle outdoors. Usually about 5 -6 hours a week over mostly lowland coastal roads. I used to cycle with groups, but after developing osteoarthritis of my right knee, I dropped out & now cycle solo. I wear a patellar strap and wear it snug. If the knee acts up, I tighten it. The bike is a hybrid-- gravel bike with riser handlebars. Who else cycles to keep their knee healthy?
I'm pathetic when it comes to walking or hobbling. My knee feels extremely stiff like it's embedded in concrete. At all times I'm wearing some sort of knee brace and I use a cane. I don't rely on walking for exercise. I cycle.
