Hello my name is colin,

I have just been diagnosed by my gp as having RA,which i am kinda glad that i at least know what is wrong. Just wondered if anyone had similar early symtoms to myself.

I had what was believed to be gout about 2 years ago lasting for a month and then for last 2 years have been suffering from frozen shoulder on and off,and lately pain and swelling in my joints which led to blood test taken which diagnosed RA.

I have a friend who,s symptoms starting exactly like mine and just wondered if this is the normal with the gout then frozen shoulder. I am waiting to be contacted by RA dept which will hopefully get me some form of medication but i dont know how long that will take which is concerning me as pain and swelling so bad that i cant work .

Hi @colin63 and welcome to our friendly online community.

Firstly, I'm sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with RA. It can be difficult to take in, especially because there is no cure. However, at least now you can hopefully start treatment which will help control it and give you a better quality of life. I'm also wondering if was actually gout and frozen shoulder you had previously or if it was symptoms of RA that hadn't been diagnosed yet? I'm no expert but I suppose there is a possibility.
