Well, having found out from your website about the VA support group nearest to me, I turned up at 7.00pm to Barlanark Community Centre, only to be told by a Janitor that the group met briefly yesterday afternoon, and has disbanded. Would have been good to know ☹️

  • Hello @Reindeer Thank you for posting on Chat to Helpline and welcome to the community.

I am so sorry to hear that you turned up at your local VA support group and discovered that the group met briefly the previous afternoon, and has disbanded. This must have been very disappointing and frustrating for you when you were hoping to find a supportive group where you could share experiences and feel less alone with your condition.

It is usually best to phone first before turning up. However, I am aware that we don't publish group contact details on our website as the groups are run by volunteers and we need to respect confidentiality. It may help to call our services team on 0300 790 0400 who will have the latest information about support groups and contact details.

I am glad that you reached out to our Online Community and I hope this will be a supportive space for you to be in touch with others. It may help to post on the Living with arthritis - Versus Arthritis forum where you may receive more responses.

You are also welcome to call our Free Helpline, on 0800 5200 520 9am-6pm weekdays, if you would like to talk things through informally and in confidence with one of our Helpline Advisors.

I am not sure what type of arthritis you have.

I hope you will find the information given below of some help.

    Best wishes,

    Fiona, Helpline Advisor

Thank you so much Fiona; really helpful advice. I’d like to link into a group even if a little further afield, but I’ll phone the helpline next week to check the details x
