Hi there
Before i get onto my question i just want to say that I was diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis when i was 16, i am now 32 and i can't believe i have just found you. Just being able to read other peoples situations and difficulties makes you realise you are not alone.
So i was just hoping that someone would have some info on this. I am a little confused as to what the wash out period is before you can conceive on methotrexate. From what information i have gathered i have been told that 3 months is sufficient but my consultant is saying 6 months is better. Anybody else been told anything else or had any experience of this.
thanks

Hi Just to say welcome to the site, glad you managted to find us!
Sorry, but I don't have RA and I don't have children, at 54 that WOULD be going some!!!
I know lots of the girls on here have RA and babies, and I'm sure they'll be able to answer your questions.
Nice to meet you and Good Luck.0 -
HI Sabrina
welcome from me!!
Good to have you on board!
I think 6 months IS better, but go back a bit through the old posts and there are one or tow long threads about pregnancy and arthritis, which do discus mtx.
I take it you're after trying for a BABY? That is exiting and i wish you all the luck

Have 'bumped up' two threads for you one on PA and one on pregnency and MTX hope they help. I think there is another thread on the Younger persons forum about pregnancy an pold one again, but will prob be useful.
Good luck

Hi Sabreena,
Just wanted to say Hello - I, too, wish I'd had this site 23 years ago but I don't think computers were invented when I was a youngster

Hi Sabreena
I am lucky as I had my kids before this happened and they are now all in double figures.
I think - although it is hard - you should give it as long as you dare before trying. If your pain is not unbearable I mean. Go on the advice of the rheumy - they don't take risks and you want a healthy baby don't you.
In the meantime look after yourself - this will give you and the baby the best possible chance too!!
Anyway I hope all goes well and you let us know how you get on.
take care
