Hope you all don’t mind a good moan.
Have been told that i have a few things wrong, and that I am in a bad way and have the right to feel the way i do.
Have been given a list of tablets to take, 30 in total each day.
these are just a few names: Gabapentin, Tramadol and Sulfasalazine, plus more painkillers.
1st I have bone growths on the C5 C6 with are pressing on the spinal cord, and been told that I need a operation, has anyone on here had this operation, I am not looking forward to having it.
2nd Been told that I have sever Arthritis all down the spine, that might answer why I have difficulty in walking far. That is why I have been given Sulfasalazine, been on them for 6 months now. Is anyone on ANTI-TNF for arthritis on the spine, and is it OA or RA. Don’t know what type I have, they just told me it was Arthritis.
3rd Also have Bursitis and a degenerative shoulder.
It is 1.50am in the morning and can’t sleep, in too much pain, Tablets don’t do nothing to help.

If you are still online I have all the time in the world to chat with you if you would like to, I cannot sleep either. When I felt bad the other night I emailed the help line They asked me to ring them and they gave me lots of good and helpful advice so they are there if you need them.

Hi Welsh lady
Didnt realise this was your first post and left you a message on the other one. I dont think we will ever chat at 2am as I tend to be getting up at 6am as I live on a farm!
I have quite a few bits and bobs malfunctioning. I have had most of my spine fused due to scoliosis and OA and also C5/C6 in a separate op. It wasnt too bad.
I also have RA which does tend to be accompanied by rather a lot of pain..... but the meds do help. (It sounds like that is what you are being treated for) They often take a while to kick in and adjust so you are getting the correct doseage for you. Everyone is different.
We all pill pop loads. Just so you feel alone on that score I am on Tramadol, prednisilone, methotrexate, folate, pregabalin, immigrin an calcium........ No wonder my neurones are falling out 8) :P
You take care the others will be along later when they wake up
Lazy old bunch sleeping in on a sunday morning!!

Hi Welshlady
That'll teach me to be more observant. I just replied to your previous post and understand more.
Well I am on plaquenil, another disease modifyin anti-rheumatic drug like sulfa. This tends to suggets you have some sort of inflamatory arthritis.
I took tramadol about 5 years ago when I had a back op (not reaaly sure which bit (lower back) if it helps I had a prolapsed disc due to waering of spine and a bit of the plete (bone) broken off and floating. I have recovered ok and tried gabapentin for the nerve pain and it didn't work for me. Skezier is on anopther med like that and swears by it.
Have yopu anything like amitriptyline? I have it at night 25mg and it does help me sleep. You should ask about it as sleep is so important.
Anyway I'll shut up for now and hope you are maybe feelinga little better today

I am waiting now for the physio, get some good advice I hope. I was strongly advised to see them.
I started walking with a hiking pole, but because I use it on the left side to help my right, now the left hip is going bad. both knees are bad and my ankles are also showing familiar signs.
I took a tramadol last night to ease the various aches, my big worry now is if the right and left hip go bad, how will I sleep at night?
one thing I have learned over the past two years, and especially using this forum, one does start a relationship with ones aches and pains. almost being comfortable with them and anticipating them. ( absurd????) I am fortunate in having a strong resistance to pain, but when those aches come , you are caught totally off guard.
I believe after some time, the painkillers do lose their power. I rest far more than the past, but do manage long walks at various times. one has to really guard ones body.
I do hope your problems ease as the summer gets warmer, have you thought of a pain clinic, and seeing a consultant?
best wishes,
Nick0
