Working through the pain

Putting mind over matter, I have achieved in one day what I have managed in a week. Until yesterday, Sunday, I was pleased if I managed to get one job done. So far today, I have managed to clean and wash and polish the kitchen, dining room and hall wood floor. Hasn't been done in 6 weeks. Hubby kept saying he would do it 'tomorrow' when I asked him but, still waiting...!! :x Next an hrs's ironing followed by 15 mins rest. Last year I bought myself a 'Joys Steam Press' (Look on the internet, just put Joy's Steam Press in) .
Took coffee out to hubby, who is working on classic car. He had just fitted wrong part to engine. 'morning wasted' he says. :x Looking at the garden, I decided to try some weeding. Hubby spent half hr setting up a kneeling system with acquired kneeling cushion from some church. I tried it and started wobbling everywhere, so in the end stood up and bent, shall suffer tomorrow. Now as I had planted various things last year plus scattered a few seeds, a lot of things were coming up which I 'wanted to wait and see'. I recognised some weeds and pulled them up. Next thing I know, in rolls hubby with spade, fork and started the other end of flower bed. Again, I had to point out the weeds, 'mind my poppies. , I said. 'I can manage' I tell him. He never knows what is what and I have wasted so much money and time trying to put in a porential flower bed just for him to go and pull everything up again. So my 1 hr session turned into 2 hrs. because every five minutes it was 'What is this?' Many times, I have suggested that I get a gardener to come for a couple of hours a week and perhaps a cleaning lady for an hr a day just to do the difficult things, but he has said 'No, I can do it'. 'Why pay for someone else to do it' But at least a gardener would know what flowers are and what are weeds. And a cleaner would know how to clean better than me and get up to do the difficult bits. Then I have to ask, would I manage without him. All those hours listening to me moaning about my aches and pains, looking after my car, running me to the doctors when I can't drive because of the side affects of the drugs I am on. We have only been married 13 years, he is my 3rd husband and he is a gem. Annoying at times but he is supportive. I gave up work last year because the pain was too bad and I was having so much time off work for hospital appointments, occupational therapy etc etc. until one morning, I just couldn't get out of bed, and I was diagnosed with Polymyalgeria Rheumatica to add to the Psoriatic Arthritis I had already had for several years and spondylitis.
Anyway, just thought I would have a ramble to you all because I feel good today and I am happy with what I have managed to do including putting up with an interferring OH.

Hi joyful
I really do think that sometimes putting mind over matter does work. So pleased to read you have had a good day. Funny how oh comes to "help" when you start ie the gardening!
Yep, we all have our faults but when we way up the pros and cons of our oh's we see there are more good than bad pointers. I often do not have to weigh them up because he makes me laugh so much and that in itself is a tonic - for me anyway.
I will tell you one thing though not all gardeners or cleaners are any good at their work! Like with any thing some are excellent but you do sometimes have to shop around! My mum could tell a few stories about cleaners and her present gardener that she has employed for years too. Goodness knows why she keeps him on but as she says, he is a nice man.
I hope tomorrow is as good as today for you,.
Best wishes,

Hi
That does sound like a productive ady and I hope you are now putting your fet up so you don't suffer too much tomorrow!
I am a bit like you and do too much (so does Elna  ).
Even if you do suffer tomorrow you will be able to look at the things you did today and feel good!
My hubby is into classic cars too - what has yours got?
Take care now

............ so what did you do after lunch then? ..just kidding
Well done Joy the sense of achievement we get when we've put our all into a day knows no bounds ...... I thought of doing all you've done but I found I was tied to this Website and just couldn't escape  ............. it's the thought that counts anyway (in my case)
May your good spell continue.

Well, tomorrow is blood test at the hospital day(monthly events) Use to be fortnightly. Oh, forgot, have to take a weekly tablet called Alendronic Acid. You have to take it by 8 a.m in the morning with a gallon of water and not eat for half an hour. Get terrible heartburn if you do. And no coffee. The tablet is if you are on steroids. I expect most of have this tablet. It is suppose to stop OA by pretecting the calcium in the bones.
pm is my MTX injection. Do this myself or OH does it. the next 24 hours are not good. Restless, can't sleep, feel very tired and hurt like mad, but it wears off by Thursday morning when, I believe I have to see my GP
I am hoping to get back to my art by Thursday afternoon. I love painting and have a houseful of pictures now. The OH wants me to sell them all. Have an exhibition in September - going solo. Very excited so I have goal. Was hoping to go to Norway next year, but OH thinks we may not make it now because he feels I am getting worse. We were going to go in the Citroens Special (look on CSC website - Citroens Special Club u will see the type of cars we have - they can be 4 wheel or 3 wheel and look like a Morgan. This is what they were suppose to look like but they use the running gear and chassis of the Citroen 2CV or Diane. To travel in them you have to pretty robust - not much good if have sore joints etc.
Our other classic cars are 1967 Triumphs 2000 x 2 One is an estate car and very rare. Trouble is, OH doesn't have all that much time to do it up. I have him trying to build me a summerhouse at the moment which will probably take the summer. Thought I would be able to sit out there and do my painting because I can't sit out in the sun very well. MXT makes my skin burn quickly. Well, I have gone on a bit
Lovely to hear back from you all.
Hope you all have a nice day tomorrow.0 -
Hi Joy,
I totally endorse the work through the pain thing, and it's not a bad philosophy really.
Hey my second car was a 2.5PI, she was lovely but bit juicy.... My 1st one was the one I learnt to drive in a old beat up series 2 truck (land rover) she was good and the L plates on one of those are fairly effective....... Take care, Cris0 -
HI Sounds like a busy day. i'm the one who pulls up the plants though, and I watched a very sweet rabbit, only problem was he was eating the plants my husband had put in!!! But I do agree that working through pain is sometimes the only way. Then to be told 'but I said I'd do that' Wouldn't change him though. Love Sue0

I, too am fed up with hubby saying leave it to me I will do it, just tell me what needs to do. When you ask him to do the lawn, he keeps putting it off. Yesterday I spent two hours watering my lawn and cleaned the patio. Why water the lawn, I was stupid enough to think that evergreen mow and feed will leave me with green lawn in three days with no scorching. To my amazement the lawn looks a total mess, and I had to water it to see whether it will green up. Now if I want to keep busy, he will let me get on with it before he forbids me to do stuffs but I cannot rely on him to do things as he is so laid back. I told him the toilet will not clean itself, I do no think he has got any idea what to do. My day is spent either I am on the computer, watching TV as I cannot keep still and read, I will have to do something or potter round the house. He is happy watching TV all day or reading in the library. It will come when we will need to pay for a cleaner but he would not have it.0

Well, I am suffering a bit from my good day and all the jobs I did, but couldn't follow it with another day trying to catch up on the jobs, because the day was spent getting to the hospital for blood tests. I was a bit stressed out by the time I got back and very dizzy.
We normally go up on the bus, and because the car was being repaired, and my little car needs its MOT, the bus was a must. Besides, the cost of car park charges is too much at our hospital and although I have a blue badge, there are never enough spaces.
I was going to go on my own, but no, OH said he had to go with me although I wanted some breathing space. In the end, I was glad, because I was not feeling very good all the way home. Now I have to make a list of all the things I want to speak to my dr about on Thursday and hope he has time to answer them all. I found a good remedy for the horrible red hot tingly nerve feeling, like when you have put your hand in a load of stinging nettles. Aloa Vera. Has anyone else discovered this. Banana Boat do one you can buy over the counter and it is brilliant. Has done wonders to my painful arms. Just rub it on and it takes the stinging away immediately. OH hascooked the evening meal. Couldn't cope without him really. He's a pain, but I love him. If I forget what I want to speak to the dr about, OH will know. End of my ramblings.

Hi Joy, Hope you'r feeling better. My husband often cooks because he likes to eat late - says its good for his diabetes - and I'm often tired by then. I hope you get on well at the doctors, I often come out and remember the main thing I wanted to ask as I get in the car! Love Sue0
