I have RA and am due to have surgery on my fingers soon. They are very painful and bent over to one side, although like this they are also rigid and extended and I cannot move them or bend them at all.
I wondered if anyone has had surgery for anything simular to this?
I realise that every case is different but I would be grateful for any information you have as I feel completley out of my depth with all that is happening to me just lately.
Are you able to use your fingers straight away? if not, what is the average recovery time?
Are there any helpful tips that you may have? :?

Thank You Thrisher

    Hi Trisher,

Can't answer your qeustions but would be really interested in any responses you get as my fingers drift to the side.

Ringing the Helpline is a really good suggestion.

    Hope you get sorted.

Hi Legs I will check it out, also when I have it done if you like l'll let you know what they did. (if you want to know that much)
I do not know what "soon" means for having the surgery but they are aware that it is important for me because of transfering from my wheelchair etc. I've ended up on the floor several times

    Thanks Trisher x

Yes please Trisher....the more detail and the goryer the better  ......and I suggest that when you transfer into your wheelchair you do it in Cris'( Skezier's) padded cell - because otherwise floors are awfully hard

He would like the food but he'll do a wall of death for you any time you want..... or don't want........:lol:

Ahhhhhhhhhhh Cris, that's grim - if I could unscrew one of my arms and send it you I would ..... mind you the wrists fused along with one elbow and the shoulder joint's c**p too ... but my veins are briliant :D

Keep smiling - I'm relying on you

    hi all!
i'm waiting to see a hand surgeon next month as i also have terrible hands, only 2 fingers on each hand actually work now, the others are impossible to bend and basically useless.
i have found that the slightest knock to my fingers can and has resulted in my fingers sticking in the straight position!

i now have very little strength and so i am unable to hold pens or cutlery properly. so i'm hoping seeing a hand surgeon will mean i get some help. i'd be very interested in how you get on so please let us know.

my handwriting is awful now, actually it takes me ages just to sign my name, this is probably the thing that gets me most upset. when filling in my eldest daughters homework diary or writing notes to school they must think i'm in need of writing lessons as most childrens writing is better than mine! actually i wonder if they think it's my daughters writing not mine!?
