I understand that ginger tea can be useful as an anti-inflammatory. Does anybody on here drink it and if so do you use the herbal teabag sort and how many cups a day do you drink?

    HI cruisedolly

I do like ginger tea and I do buy
Ginger and Lemon herbal tea bags
but I dont think they help much really.

The best way to take ginger tea is the
    proper stuff.
Peel some fresh ginger, cut into pieces,
boil on the stove and then strain, sometimes
    I add honey, now that
    feels good.

hi, i have tried ginger tea, in teabag form and real ginger in root form that you grate and boil and then drink, but to be honest it did not really help me. In fact ive tried eveything that any one has suggested, but nothing has really helped me. But as they say, we are all diffrent, so why not give it a try. im new here and this is my first post hope it helps.

    HI Normie

    Welcome,
I agree, I dont think these teas do any
good, just feel comforting when you hurt so much.

    Wish there was something though,
like you I have tried what seems like everything.

    Hope to see you posting.

    Hi,
Welcome to the site. I don't drink ginger tea, but it sounds nice, I have also heard that ginger is good for the digestion and Mum used to sip ginger ale if she felt nausious. I LOVE ginger biscuits! . Some herbal remadies do have helpful side effects and are used in modern medicans, so I'm told.
We have a GP in our practice who is qualified in herbal medicine. He uses conventional drugs most of the time. Hes not my doctor, but he was the GP who teated some of the elederly people I worked with.

It's funny you should ask this but my mum's been on at me since I was diagnosed with RA to drink ginger tea! Apparently, in India they drink it for pain and swelling and also drink a dash of tumeric powder in milk or hot water (but don't try this, it's disgusting, repeated on me ALL day).

The way mum suggested making it was to make it like Indian tea with the ginger added: boil the hot water, tea bags, sugar (if you take sugar) and some grated ginger, when boiling, add milk and bring to the boil again. You'll need to use a tea strainer when pouring it into a cup, obviously, but boiling it brings out the goodness of the ginger... or something like that.

I suppose you could add a little lump of peeled ginger to your cup of tea and let it stew before drinking it...

I've not tried it yet myself because I don't like that ginger and lemon tea either!

i drink mint tea as it helps alot when you feel sick or have indegestion, i found it got rid of my indegestion better than conventional stuff you can buy.
also i have used hpmeopathic teething powder for both my girls when they were teething and found it fantastic, it contains herbs (not sure which ones as it's been a while since teething times!) which help relax and sooth sore tummies which is common with teething babies, i found them better than the usual paracetamol and stuff and natural which is good with little ones.!
and finally i use herbal homeopathic travel sickness tablets when my eldest goes on school trips and they work well, in fact i've used them myself when i get travel sickness sometimes! so i think homeopathic and herbal remedies can be very helpful.
ginger biscuits / tea are both supposed to be good for sickness but i to cannot stand ginger!
i have given my eldest ginger biscuits when she's felt sick and she said they helped!

My husband has IBS and sometimes gets a lot of nausia which was effecting his diabetes. He was prescribed a slow release tablet that is basically peppermint essance. :) Also in hospital, after a hystorectomy the nurses gave us peppermint in hot water for colic and wind pains! :  Love Sue
