So Frustrated I Could Scream!

Morning All, sorry its so early but I just need to vent!
I have PA and Fibromyalgia but am not currently on any meds for the PA, just painkillers and steroid injections as needed.
Last injection was 9th April and I started to feel things creeping back again about 10 days ago so phoned to make an appointment for another injection, next available date 21st May. I know how busy the clinics are so that was fine, this week though I have really started to suffer, I can't use my right arm at all and am struggling with my hips really badly too. So I phoned the Rheumy Dept yesterday to see if I could get in for an injection yesterday as an emergency, secretary said no and that I had to leave a message on the nurses answerphone as she would decide whether to see me or not.
3 messages later an still no one has come back to me, I've phoned the secretaries again and all they say is leave a message on the answerphone!
I know that I have to wait etc and that they are over stretched but all I want is for someone to phone and say yes you can come or no you can't! I am seriously considering taking myself to A&E!!!
Sorry for the long moan!

hi jOANNE
(soory had capital lock on!!)
Sorry you are suffering like this.
If I were you I would give it a certain amount of time and then if you need to you HAVE to consider A+E don't you?
Will be hoping they ring you today and soon.
Take care

Moan all you want on here.We are ready to listen.
No-one should have to put up with pain that is disabling, but as you say even a negative answer would allow you to tell a medical person just how badly affected you are.Hope you get seen soon.

Hi Joanne
Sorry to hear that you are in pain and struggling, I don't know if its possible in your area but when I was really struggling my own GP gave me a steroid injection I just had to advise the hospital that my GP had given me one. I know that alll health authorities work different but it might be worth a quick call.
Take care

Hello Joanne
Sorry your in so much pain, nothing worse than endless pain you can’t get shut of. It wears you out so much, and lack of sleep doesn’t help either. I cant understand what the hold up is, my rheumy nurse tends to fit you in on the injection clinics. How come your not on any medication.

Awww, sorry you're in so much pain.
When I was in a very similar situation to you my rheumatology department encouraged me to go to A&E, and when I arrived there they were not at all surprised with my request, or by the fact that technically I wasn't an accident or emergency. I got the impression it was quite common for patients to turn up there saying they were from rheumatology and needed a steroid injection!
Only problem is that you have to wait for a long time. I couldn't wait, but I would have been given the injection if I had been willing to stay.
I suggest you go there, now, when it is liely to be quiet. Don't wait untl the weekend.
Good Luck,

Thanks for all you lovely replies.
I'm not on any specific meds at the moment as I have tried all the usual ones : Mtx, Sulpha, Humira, Rituximab, Leflunomide and nothing seems to do the trick. So I'm trundling along with steroids and Solpadol untill they decide what to do next with me!
Its so hard as I work full time (off poorly yesterday and today) have a young son and a house to look after, although my husband has got better at helping and is more sympathetic than he used to be!
What really annoys me is that you phone the Rheumy secretaries and they say that you have to leave a message on the nurses answerphone and then the message on the answerphone says that the answerphone is not for emergencies!!! Ahhhhhh
I've even tried my GP but they are all booked up!
I'll keep trying the Rheumy if not I'm off to A&E!
*Sorry guys I appear to have managed to get myself 2 usernames, have no idea how this has happened!*0 -
Hi, It sounds as if you may be better going to A & E. Its furstrating when you can't get hold of anyone and you go round in circles. Sounds like A&E would at least get you the injection you need.
Good luck & love Sue0
