mid-morning downer

Hello,
I have noticed over the last week that after my initial morning stiffness wears off I feel quite good, for about an hour, then I start feeling awful. My knee's start hurting (almost exactly the same time every day) I also feel really tired and slightly dizzy. All my joints stiffen up again.
This is just a recent thing (possibly since I reduced my dose of pred, although I only reduced it by 2.5mg)
I am due to bring it down another 2.5mg tomorrow
I am not sure if it is because I sit down after breakfast and watch TV. . . maybe I should get moving? Or if it is a period of time where my meds from yesterday are wearing off and the ones I took with breakfast haven't kicked in yet? It's really quite weird. Yesterday I started feeling really cold and weak, my poor little son was running round the living room full of energy, I wasn't able to take him to the park until 4pm, when all of a sudden I started to feel better again!
I can't remember if I felt better before or after I got up and moved about, perhaps tha's what I needed?
This monring my partner is off work so I am going to force myself to go to the shops with him no matter how cr4ppy I feel!
Any explainations?
I am on Diclofenac (150mg per day) - I take the last dose last thing before I go to bed, around 11pm. Alsp Prednisolone, with brekkie, 12.5mg. . . down to 10 tmrw.
Cheers

Hello, I'm sorry you feel so bad mid morning. It could be because you need to move a bit, after breakfast. You have RA and I have OA, I know if I sit for long I have problems and get stiff and painful. I think that may also be true for RA, but you will have some tiredness as part of the illness.
Someone with RA will be along soon and give you a better answer. Love Sue0 -
Hi,When I get up in the morning I feel very stiff and painful, however, after about an hour of being up and about, the stiffness does ease off.In fact,I feel better if I keep moving during the day.In the evenings when I sit to watch a bit of TV for a couple of hours or so,I'm back to square one, stiff joints again.I try and keep fairly active during the day as I have found that does help.Luckily I like walking and I try to walk a mile or so a day.I did read somewhere that exercise can help with joint pain.Hope you will soon have a better day. HI Emma
Sounds like your symptoms are not under control
Back to the Doctors I reckon. When i feel cold I make a note of my temp as it might be a flare up Especially if you are feeling v tired too.
Hope you feel better soon

Hi Emma
Have you been asked to reduce your Prednisolone or are you experimenting?
Could you take some of your meds before you get out of bed perhaps and then have breakfast when you are up and about? May be that would help....... no harm in trying to get up and go after your brekkas either rather than sitting watching the box. Worth experimenting.
Hope the shopping expedition went well this morning.
Luv

Thanks everyone.
I have been told to reduce the pred. I was supposed to reduce it sooner, but didn't, I think the consultant was a bit annoyed. Woops.
We are still in limbo with my treatment becsause I am trying to wean my son off the breast, but it's going very slowly, and I can't take MTX until he has stopped feeding.
My first flare (which started 6 months ago) has never really been under control, apart from the 2 weeks I was on 20mg of pred. I was feeling really hot in bed the other night (this happened a lot when the illness started), plus the dizzy feeling, so it may well be another flare. . . completely inapropriate since the last one never settled!!!
I ususally don't move around much because I get tired very quickely (RA, breastfeeding a 1yr old(!), haven't had a full night of sleep in over a year. . anemia) - so normally I just let my son play in the living room in the mornings. I will try going out straight away after breakfast, this in itself is challenging because I have to get the buggy out the house, and on and off the bus etc.
This morning I felt OK whilst out shopping, so maybe this is the answer.
I have to take all my meds with food, so can't take them whilst still in bed.0
