Hi all, just found out that I test positive for RA and the more in depth test that I can't for the life of me remember. Received injection onto wrist today and my bakers cyst in the back of my knee has burst but the fluid has gone into calf (4x the normal size) but it has been there for 4 months now!!!!! My consultant said he thought I had PA, so finding out I have RA was a complete shock.........................tra,la,la...............what a nightmare! xx

Hi sorry youve been diagnosed with RA, ive got the CCP thing its an antibody that only people with RA have, from what i can understand anyway.
i called the help line when first diagnosed, cryed for about 5mins then told them the lot. the lady i spoke to was lovely and she sent me loads of info about RA(my rhuemy told me nothing and i was to shoked to ask), they might worth a call.
    take care

Hi, I'm sorry you've got RA, but at least now you will get the proper treatment and hopefully feel better. I can also vouch for the helpline. They have sent me lots of useful information. A pity the Rummy you saw didn't take the time to explain, things are always more frightening when you don't understand them and if you look them up for yourself, theres some pretty frightening things you can find which are not relievent to you at all.

Good luck with your treatment, I hope things get explained to you much better. Love Sue

    Hi Tamnwill,

Sorry to hear you join the rheumatoid club but try not to be too down about it.

It is a shock knowing you have something like RA and sometimes life will be difficult but as long as you don't give into it you'll find its worth the battle. I don't suppose you know how aggressive yours is yet but remember that it comes in all sorts of strains and I'm sure you'll find a way of dealing with whatever is put before you.

How are you going with the detoxing and adjusting your diet, has it given you any relief?

    Hi Tamnwill
It cant be much fun suffering and not knowing the cause but hopefully now you will get the appropriate treatment for your condition which will make you feel better. I am sure there will be a period where they have to play around with your meds to get them right for you but dont lose heart if that does happen. They get it right eventually.
Do be careful that you dont get too worried by what you might read on the internet, as the others have already said, much of it wont actually be relevent to you and you can scare yourself big time imagining the worse case senarios!

Hi there, thanks for the reply..........I now am much better from having started eating organic foods and making sure everything I put on my skin is sps and paraben and parfum free............I still have a prob with my knee but this will be operated on soon and I got a cortisone injection in my wrist last week which has made it mobile again, thank the lord, but other areas of my body seem to be benefitting. I have also started taking 1000mgs of evening primrose, Vit B complex, 15mg of iron and a zinc lozenge EVERY day...........seems to help with the increased joint pain around PMT time and boosts my energy too. So fingers crossed eh! How's you? xxTamxx

    Hi Tam,

I'm spot on at the moment. I have a bit of a problem with my right prothetic knee but otherwise no complaints at all.

I admire you for really commiting yourself to this lifestyle change - it can't be easy. I did try quite a strict diet, Dr Dong's if I remember correctly, many years ago - thought it was doing me good but lost soooo much weight (I stopped weighing myself when the dial went below 7st  ). I tried it for four months and when I decided to stop it and just eat a balanced diet it made me realise how ill I felt whilst sticking to the regime.

I'm convinced diet's do work for some people and absolutely everything is worth a try (after speaking to your Rheumy that is) but it just wasn't for me.

Hope you continue to feel the benefit and keep us posted, not seen you around for a while.

Hi there x, pa is short for psoratic arthritis and the other is the inflammation levels indicated in your blood results. I too have the hair loss thing, soooooo disappointing!!! I used to pride myself on healthy hair and now it's really not so good! I'm sure you will get a lot of advice on here, I know it's helped me to better understand things. Take care xxx Tam xxx
