I get quick sharp shooting pains in my hands & feet and sometimes in the back of my head. I have seen a neurologist and he says its part of my RA.

    Hello,
I'm sorry you get this unpleasent feeling. It worried me for a long time before I mentioned it to anyone. When I did I saw a rhemmy and he asked about tingling etc and I said about these electric shock type feelings. I had an MRI scan and the result was
I have OA, and I have a bone spur that compresses a nerve in my neck and the rhummy and neurologist say that this is the cause of it.

I would discuss it again with your GP or rheummy if you get the chance, as it may not be the same and you may be able to get some help for it. Love Sue

hi,i get this type of electric shock feeling down the front of my legs,as if it comes from the bone.
it stops me in my tracks,i have to grab hold of something to hold onto. its my shin bones both legs, only when im walking.
the only other feeling i get thats similar is the feeling of electricity running down my spine(i know thats nerve related) but not as bad.
but the 1 down my shins takes my breath away & i cant move till it subsides. & i scream in pain  people look at me as if im mad.

    Hi,
I have PA that affects my spine and I get electric shock type pains that travel from my spine round my ribs to the front. It's very disconcerting and can take my breath away and make me double over. Dr says it's due to imflammation in my spine area pressing on nerves. Chiropractor agrees. Physio exercises and Chiropractic treatment help.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

    Hi all
That electric shock pain, burning tingling etc sounds like neuropathic pain. (Nerve pain.) It is caused by the nerves conducting pain messages even though perhaps the original source of the pain has cleared up. (the phantom pain that amputees sometimes get is of this sort.) It doesnt really respond to ordinary painkillers although sometimes tramadol helps. It normally requires meds that have an effect on the central nervous system. Often these drugs are used for other conditions such as epilepsy or old type of antidepressants. eg amiltriptyline (sp?) or pregabalin. Discuss it with your doctor and you may get more appropriate meds to help you cope with it.
