scottishlass wrote:joyous, hopefully once your RA is better controlled the night sweats will stop,I was told its because of all the inflammation circulating in our bloodstream..when uncontrolled we usualy have a constant raised body temperature,.last year i honestly thought i was having an early menopause, hair soaked, wet skin on arms accross chest and face,it was awful...sometimes tho it was almost like a cold sweat, dunno what was worse....anyhow after a few months and once methotrexate and sulfasalazine finaly kicked in the night sweats subsided, havent had any for months....hope yours stop soon.x0

Wow! I have been blaming my night and day sweats (grrrrrr)and hot feet on the menopause for eight years. When I told my GP about them he said it must be menopausal...I never realised it could be the RA. On very warm summer nights my hands and feet throb too.0

Hi Joy, Guys
I had my first night swet after starting methotrexate some years ago, I thought i had wet the bed i really felt awfull and had to buy a new matress and felt so embarrassed poor kay. A week later another one and thought i had done it again then it stopped for months and started again we realised it was the swets and that was a relief at least i wasent weting the bed. Talked to the Rheumy about it and she said she had never heared of it. Funny i cant remember the last time i had one but i'm not on MTX any more could it be that or is it the arthritis itself. Take care guys

My old Gp used to call my sweats the rheumatic fever my teethe chatter and feel really drained this happened happens as and when the inflammation is at its worst and when I get them I cant stand being hot in bed and get the covers off although I love the comfort of bed covers around me although it is weird cos altho Im like sweating I am often cold at the same time I use a damp cloth to cool down mine seem to occur no matter what medication im on.0

I find a cold hot water botter - if that makes sense - is helpful. Not to put ones feet on but just to keep the bedding cool. We used to do this when we went to Malta in August when it was sweltering. The customs guys in Malta thought we were nuts!

I have o/a and have been through the menopause so wondered why I was getting these night sweats. The doc insists it's anxiety.
Saying that she's also determined to convince me I am depressed.

Hi Joy,
I found this post interesting cus I get night fever things, I don't sweat and my feet aren't hot in fact I end up just shivering, teeth chatter even with hottles! I wonder if it's my version of the same thing?!
Hi Linda,
Doctors eh? You have any long term thing and they think you should have depression. My pain clinic doctor was like that originally but thankfully I have seen her enough for her to know she was wrong, she and I just disagree over one aspect of things and she misconstrued it. Anyway you know your self better than they know you so don't let them convince you! x0 -
