Hello, I'm back from the hospital, (Monday evening) after a 2 hour wait But it was worth the wait, the plastic surgeon was very nice and is going to release the nerve in my left wrist/hand and see if that makes any difference to the pain as that is the worst hand. I may need my ulner (elbow) nerve done at a later date, according to the amount of pain left. Hopefully, just the median nerve will do. The other hand will be done if I need it, later, but if my left hand is free it may help the arthur in the other hand. He may may look again at the neck nerve, but says that is a bigger thing and may best be left.

He was so nice and explained things, even though his clinic was running so late, and he was very appologetic. We saw him called away to the treatment room with the other consultant. So someone had a big problem, I suppose. Anyway it was worth the wait. He was totally different from the rheummy, who was really not good. Anyway I was nervous, and will be again but, feel confident in the treatment I had. Love Gillx e said that RA could be a cause as well, but this procedure will show that and the op will help show that???? I may need other hand surgery for the arther but hopefully not. I feel glad I went, and was treated like an intelligent person (Well, he can't always be right! ) Love Sue

Glad your appointment went well. Its amazing how much it helps when the doctor talks to you properly and explains things isnt it, and it is in each of their power to be able to do that at the very least, so its a shame your rheumy doesnt as well. I know quite a few people who have had the op ranging from a very elderly man to my vet. All were very pleased with the results, and the vet was back to delivering cows not too long afterwards!!)
Its natural to feel apprehensive though. I am always really scared whenever I go anywhere near a hospital and I spent half my life working in them!

That is good news Sue and, as you say, it makes such a difference when there is positive rapport with the dr. That gives you confidence in what they are telling you.

Let's know how you go on.

Hi Sue just wanted to let you know ive had surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome to both hands. Had Left hand done first then after about 4months had right done. Both were done under local but it was fine the first injection did hurt a bit then i felt nothing at all. My hand were sore post op but it was definately the right thing to do pins and needles and pain went straight away did have post op discomfort but not nearly as bad as carpal tunnel pain and this settled quickly. When wounds had healed i had to massage scars with moisturiser a few times a day this worked well and scars now barley visible.Sorry if ive gone on but thought it might help you. Hope you dont have to wait too long for your ops and good luck Carolyn x
