Hello everyone. . .
Me again with yet another question! Since I only joined recently, and you lot are the first people I have really had contact with since being diagnosed I think it's probably natural for me to have a million and one questions.
I really really appreciate all your help and support.
Does anyone take Ibuprofen regularly? Do you take it alongside another NSAID?
I forgot to renew my prescription for Diclofenac and over bank holiday weekend will be relying upon lower doses with dicloflex supplimented by some Ibuprofen. I took 400mg today and it has helped a lot with my pain. I will half my dose of doclofenac today though, since apparently you should take the ibuprofen with more than 75mg of any other NSAID.
Basically just want to know if anyone else uses it (ibuprofen) regularly and in whiat dose?
Enjoy your weekend btw everyone!

hi,as scottishlass says 1 or the other.
both r anti inflammatorys.
i had to stop taking diclofenic & put on ibroprofen(had tummy probs)
i would suggest until u get prescription take the diclo til u run out, then get by with ibrupofen until u get prescription.
my max dose is 3x400m every 4 hrs.
i hope thats right, dont think it will hurt til u get ur prescription.
but i wouldnt recomend mixing them.
if ur not sure ring the chemist to be safe.
some1 else may now better, but i'd say again dont mix them, debsx0 -

chemists will be open tomorrow too,im sure your local pharmacist would be helpful(or a phonecall to NHS24)
Am i right in thinking that volterol is diclofenic? If so can't Emma buy it over the counter?

Hi everyone
Toni is right, Voltarol is diclofenac so if you go to pharmacy you can buy some until you get your prescription. Do not take ibuprofren with it tho! If you are still in pain while taking the diclofenac take strongest paracetamol that you can lay your hands on. I would recommend speaking to pharmacist, take the box (if you still have it) from your anti-inflams with you so he can see what you have been taking.
Hope you get some help Emma and have a decent weekend

whoops. . .well I did mix them yesterday, and I'm fine! It was over 4 hours apart though. I took a dose of Diclo in the morning, then 1 ibu at around 4pm and another at bed time. I went back to the diclo this morning. I am fairly sure it's to do with stomach problems, and it does say on the box you can take up to 75mg of another anti-inflammatory with it.
It may have killed the pain yesterday but did nothing for the inflammation and I woke up feeling AWFUL. I had to eat in bed and take paracetamol and my other meds before I got up.
I do have voltrol tablets, but they're only 12.5mg!! I'd have to take a LOT of them to get the equivellent dose. I suppose I will have to switch to those on Monday. They are diclofenac potassium instead of diclofenac sodium. . .does it make any difference?0
