    Hi Handsy
    LOved it!!!! he he!!
Seriously I took it when my back went and before/after surgery. It was really good and I could drive etc on it in the end no probs.
Mind you I took one (yes only one) some time later as my back was hurting and was sick and out of my tree all the next day!!!!
Seriously it helped me no end - so good luck to you. :)

Handsy hello, I too have just been given Tramadol, and I have had no side effects, but it has not touched the pain either. I would be very grateful if you could tell me the dosage you are taking. My GP said one - 50mg - daily, but the pharmacist said this would not touch severe pain, and so far he`s been right........Angel. [/url]

Hi, I think, that a new drug will give you side effects for a few days or weeks and you gradually get used to it and then its fine. When I started amatriptylne I had 10 mg at night and the next day was still tired and sleepy, this happened for about a week, I started to think I'd stop taking it then gradually I found I felt Ok in the mornings but the night pain started again and, as my GP had said, I took 20mgs at night and went through the same process of getting used to it. So give it a little while if you can, it may work in the end! :) L

Hi - I started on this a few weeks ago too - mine is 50mg and can take up to 8 a day (I've been told) & also x8 paracetemol. Painwise its still there, (oh also have diclofenac) & other things. Its ok (so far) but I do get very sleepy. Fingers crossed, the last thing was co-codine 30/500 but had some horrible side effects.

Hi, I am on 50mg Tramadol, I can take up to 8 a day, I find they make me sleep really well for an hour or so after I take them, I also find I have some weird dreams, but they are the only pain killers that work effectively for me, so I will continue to take them love Jaspercatxx

    Hi Handsy

I also have 8 a day as back up to the rest as and when needed. I don't find they make much difference but I haven't had any of the side effects either. As has been said all tabs have side effects that are meant to ware off in time as you adjust to them so keep trying and you should be ok. Take care Cris

    Angel,

That's far too low a dose to be much good I would think. Maybe you'd do better to check the dosage again? Take care

Hi handsy i was on tramadol for a while i also could take 8 a day plus paracetemol i had the slow release one,s they did work at first then stopped and had to hve something different and stronger because pain was so bad if they work for you that is good news.

Glad you are starting to sleep, that seems to be the biggest problem I am having at the moment and I'm only taking them up till about 2pm.

They take the pain away to a degree but I don't think they are for me.

    Good luck with them

    Hi

The first time i was put on Tramadol it made me so tired it was all i could do to keep my eyes open so the doc took me off them.

Ayear or so later i tried them again and i can now take 4 aday without any side effects but also not much pain relief!

I hope they work for you.

Hi - Few weeks on the Tramadol now - just one thing I wanted to ask - I feel bloated all the time, anyone else? I've lost my appetite (ok so maybe no bad thing - Twiggy I'm not) but does feel weird. I also take Omerpazole & a load of other goodies.
    Many thanks (again)

Hi, I saw my GP on Monday and she changed my co-codamol to tramadol. She told me to only take one for the first 3 days and then, take another if the pain gets really bad. She explained about the sickness and told me to ring if it or anything else caused a problem. It really seems to be working quite well. I'm frightened to say this, as its tempting fate, but its the best pain killer I've had so far! . The first day or two, I did feel a bit wobbly! :) Love SUe

I was put on tramodol instead of tylex (30/500 codine and paracetomol) and found that they made me itch through the night and also felt sick from them so went back to tylex for paid releif again these are fine but they make you feel sleepy.

I take Tramadol 3 times a day and find it works great, I've never really had the bad queaziness most folks get. But I did have a bad spell after my fall recently and they gave me Gabapentin too, together I think I've actually found the perfect mix for me. The Tramadol build in your system the more you take them, so try not to forget them x

HI, I think how we react to a drug is an indvidual thing and we can't expect a drug that helps a friend will help us. For instance I can't take NASIDs like ibroprophan, but other people find it great. I've just started tramadol and so far so good, its helping my pain a lot! Other people are made very sick by it! :x

Its just trial and error, really and means being patient until the best medication for us is found. Would't life be great if we did all respond well to one drug! Just imagine, all you'd do is get the drug from the chemist and take it and the pain just lifted. Maybe one day!!! Love Sue

You are quite right of course Sue. I do tend to panic, giving it a bit longer. Hard to work out sometimes what is coming from A and what is wear and tear. Moragx
