Since I have been on my various medications, MTX steroids, bupranorphine, etc. I have been becoming more and more incontinent. I'm thinking of buying shares in Tena Lady.

Some 10 years ago, I had a combined hysterectomy and prolapse op because I had a problem then. Another prolaps has crossed my mind.

The side effects on some of the drugs do mentioned possible problems but wondered if anyone else had experience them. I supose even the opposite sex who has to have these drug may suffer also. Your replies will help me to make my mind up when I go to the consultant next.

not something i usually admit but i know how you feel and i thought it was just me!!!
i've tried many gadgets to improve things but nowt helped.
i thought it may be the morphine as things did get slightly better when i lowered my dose. mines more of a 'suddenly i'm desperate and need to run' thing, if that makes sense?
i would go to my gp but feel very imbarressed.

I think I will mention it to my GP and see if I can get a referral to the hospital. I have had a very bad back recently, but put that down to the RA and OA. It is so confusing. May need another prolaps op. I hate the urinology dept and the tests they give you. It is embarrassing. I try doing the pelvic exercises to try and strengthen the muscles but that doesn't work for long. Oh dear got to go again.

For some reason I was reading about this the other day. One is stress incontinemce I think when you scough/sneeze and the other - yours Suz is the 'urge' type when you have to go NOW!!!! Think they are both treatable though so I think you should take advice. I know I would.
My sis has terrible probs and they always blame it on her weight....

Hi, I know this isn't quite the same thing. But please do not be embarrassed about this. I have mentioned the spinal stenosis I have on here before. Well I have been having "incidents" after falls or at night since the sciatica started. I buy puppy training pads from the pet store as they work out cheaper. I am not embarrassed. Having been born with kidney reflux, this was my life until I was 19. I had 13 years of nothing and was very frightened when it happened again. It is not my kidneys though, they thinks its cauda equina syndrome (sp?) or something. I know it must be hard having experienced this for the first time. But you are not alone. This happens to many women and there is no shame in it.

Just a little funny for you. We call Dandelions "pee the beds" here in Scotland. The legend has it, if you sniff one you will pee the bed that night and kids used to try and force a sniff of one under friends noses for fun. Even as a kid I was not embarrassed about my illness and when they would do it to me and laugh "pee the bed" I'd say "well I'm gonna pee it anyway so who cares" I love that I didn't care and knew it wasn't my fault even then at primary school.

    Hi Eck
    Good on you girl!
We say picking dandelions makes you wee the bed too. If that was true I would have drowned a couple of weeks ago. I was digging them up EVERY day!!!
    Take care

    Hi Joyful
It does sound as if it is more to do with your gynae problems than the drugs. Do you remember the pelvic floor exercises that you were given after your prolapse. Try doing them regularly now. ( Squeezing everything as if trying to stop yourself going to the loo, both ways if possible, hold it all tight for a few seconds and realeas) Do it frequently and try and pull in your tummy muscles at the same time. If you find this too difficult at first, when you are in the loo, stop your self mid wee just for a few secs. It is doing the same thing, just gives you an idea of how it should feel when you use your pelvic floor muscles.
Go to your gp about though as it probably needs a referall to see someone

Hi I don't have RA and I've never had a baby, but friends that have had children have commented on this problem, even though they don't have RA.

I had to do a contintiance course at work and the contenence advisor, (a senior nurse specialising in this problem), who took the course lectured in all sorts of reasons for the problems and many different types of treatment, from exercise to drugs and surgery. I found it very interesting, its a shame most people can't learn about this, as it takes the fear and embarrisment away from the problem and makes it much easier to talk to medics. I had too go to the GP with a UTI, and because of the training I knew what to tell her and didn't feel embarssed discussing the symtems.

If your GP can't help ask to see continece advisior or a urologist.
I do hope things improve for you quickly! Love Sue :) Gosh, sometimes I miss work. :?

Again, with this problem, if I were to go to see specialist, they will say "Now if you were to lose weight". Same solution to everything isn't it.

I have had two success stories in my life regarding losing weight.
Each time I managed to keep it off for about 12 months andthen it would creep up again.
Then it gets harder and harder to do enough exercise to make any difference.

Anyway, I've got my head round a certain bit of exercise - may help but looks like I shall have to bring the subject up with my GP soon.
And a trip to the pet shop!!

    thanks
