Hi Everyone, things are off to a great start today not!! I have woken up with a swollen right foot around my toes, I was supposed to go out but am in alot of pain, so have my feet up and am taking Tramadol. I reported this to my Rheumy but the swelling had gone down by the time I saw her, so she says nothing is wrong, and my ESR is down to 4-5 so MXT is clearly working she says, anyone any ideas what to do next? apart from crying that is love Jaspercatxx

    Oh Jaspercat :(
I would feel like crying too :(
If I were you I would take a photo (maybe get someone else to) so you can show it to the rheumy. Who knows what your ESR is today? No-one knows really do they.
In the meantime kep your feet up and maybe try to cool the swelling down a bit?
    Take care
    Toni xx

    Hi Jaspercat,

I think you maybe should just take it easy today and let your husband spoil you and give Jasper something to sit on and get a free cuddle on as well. I hope everything is so much better for you tomorrow, Take care,Cris x

Hi Jasper, I read the title then who the poster was and got a shock I must say. It must be bad pain if you are this sore and upset. I find the Tramadol help me greatly, if they make you queazy, try a banana if you have some, I often find this helps the queaziness with me.

I think maybe a nice bath and cup of tea always helps, especiallay if you have someone to run it/make it for you :D Plenty cuddles too. I'll send you some cyber ones and hope you are better soon, take care Eck x

    HI Jaspercat

So sorry to hear that you are having
    a truly awful day.

I have to say I feel like you
    both yesterday and today,
    yesterday woke thru the night
    with hips, knees, elbows, ankles
hurting so much, another nice flare up
to deal with - pain, unable to walk,
shivering and feel pretty fed up and yes, I feel like weeping too
so I can really sympathise with you.

Going to the docs in the morning to get
a depo injection. Had one 7 months ago and it
    did help, so fingers crossed.

I know what you mean about the rheumies,
so long as ESR is ok, then you are meant
to be OK, just does not work like that in
    my lengthy experience of arthur.

Hope tomorrow is much better for you
and anyone else going thru the mill at the mo.

    Love Kath xx

    Poor Jasper.
And everyone else who has had a .....y day today.

So so sorry to hear about your demise. Do hope you are feeling better, but then there isn't anything untoward wrong with you!!! is there? Your ESR is OK, so you shouldn't be bothering your GP or your Rheumy Nurse. I have been like this for the last 4 months since I last saw my Consultant who told me the same. Your bloods are OK so you shouldn't be in this much pain. How can they tell you that you are not in pain. No they say. You look fine to me.

There comes a point when no amount of self help seems to help and you're exhausted trying to sort yourself out. When you are exhausted, the pain is worse. Catch 22 situation.

It is a fact that our hospital rheumy depts cannot cope with the number of sufferers and once you are on MTX or whatever, you are cast off into the big blue yonder to 'just get on with it' If we then inconvenience them because we are inconsiderate enough to have a flare up, this shouldn't be happening because the bloods say our ESR is ok. My solution to all this would be to have extra Health Visitors allocated to GP surgeries who can travel round to us as and when we are in a crises. Anyway I am going on a bit. Do I sound fed up. Because I am.

I would like to make you feel better, but doing this post is making my arm bad. Thank goodness I have my first appointment at the pain clinic. Have you been to your pain clinic recently? Perhaps you need to put your foot down. Oh sorry, you can't can you. sorry, I was just trying to be funny - did I make you laugh? If I don't get the help I need tomorrow, then I think I will be joining you. Crying.

Hi, can't say I feel much better this evening, thank goodness Malcolm is home, our cat, Jasper, has enjoyed lots of extra cuddles, my cleaners are due on thursday, there is nothing to see in my foot really, it is swollen and white but not cold.

Ritnew, you got a smile from me at least, sorry having a laugh is still beyond me, my gp rung this afternoon about something else, so I told him about this, he says to ask for a home visit on thursday, I can ask but it is like talking to a dragon talking to a receptionist love Jaspercatxx

    Hi Jaspercat

I'm so sorry to hear that you have had a bad day. I hope you will get the help you need, and that you will feel better soon.

Tommy sends you a big purr. He has had a bad day too, because he got locked in a neighbour's garage for several hours. We were searching everywhere for him. He is now sleeping on my bed to recover from his ordeal :!:

I am thinking about you, and I hope your pain will reduce by tomorrow.

Your rheumy should realise that your blood tests are only a guide long term. It doesn't mean that you are not poorly if your tests show low, but your in pain.

The pain is real as we both know. Perhaps it was that the swelling had gone down why she thought you were now OK and just in for a late check-up. I hope that it all eases within a few days, but rest and a rant should make you feel better anyway.

A little something to cheer you up. k020.gif

Well done Jaspercat - you have taken control back!
You will take the nsaids and those photos are you evidence for the rheumy.
I hope now that the apt comes through very very soon!
    Take care
