Hello and i hope i have done this right :?
I have had o/a for about 5 years, never had to take much for it.I had the knee cleaned out 4 years ago and it as not been to bad since.I just used a 10s machine mainly.
I had a fall at work in early march, landed on both knees, been in constant pain ever since.I saw the knee concultant 6 weeks ago,he said the trauma on the knee had caused the knee cap to be forced back, said he would try 6 weeks of pysio first.
I have had none yet really, first visit she said she thought i had a torn tendon, she wouldnt give me exersice's in case more damage. She kept missing the doctor, then last week i had a new one who said the fall had just set the o/a off again.Due at the hospital again next week.
I have been off work 3 weeks now as i am a checkout operator and just cannot sit there for 7 hours in this pain.My doctor gave me naproxen, this is all i am taking but still in pretty constant pain, using the 10s machine and ice.
sorry to go on,its just that it is really getting me down and am in tears most days cos i dont know what to do.Then i feel guilty because i know theres people alot worse than me.

Hello Taboo66
I'm so sorry you're in so much pain, you sound really sad about it, like I would be. There may or may not be others "worse off" than you, but that's not the point here. We're talking about you and your pain. It doesn't make it any less or more comparing it to others.
First and foremost, before you think about your job, you need to concentrate on getting better. At your next appointment, you should make it clear to them just how much pain you're in. Perhaps there are gentle exercises you can do yourself or your GP can give you stronger pain killers?
Unfortunately, sometimes you have to keep on at GPs and hospitals till you get the results you want. I know it's not easy when you're in so much pain - could you take someone for support?

Hi and welcome from me. I think at your next appointment you do need to get things pined down more. ie what has actually happened and what can/will they do about it. Sometimes you have to stand up and push for answers and treatment and I think they could help you more so try and get some answers from them at the next appointment. good luck and take care, Cris0

Hi nina,
Just feel like i am being a bit mardy sometimes I have been reading the site for a couple of days and it is really helpful.People who understand.
Mostly its a bit of a joke, esp at work when i struggle to get up,i do laugh but sometimes its not funny.
when i first fell and just had a week off they wanted to disapline me for having more than 8 days off.So angry considering it was their fault.

Hi D
I'm glad you found this site, it's brilliant for getting answers to questions, problem solving or if you just need to chat. No one on here will say you're mardy - are you from the Midlands? We say mardy in Derby!
If your workplace is being iffy with you about time off, you should keep a record of hospital visits and GP appointments and reasons for time off work. Then you'll have something as back up for return to work conversations etc.
But keep coming on :-)

Nina,Yes i am from Derby, didnt realise the word would give it away
Not in the union at work but i am pretty sure not alot they can do,just annoyed that i have only had 2 weeks off in 4 years, and that was when i had the knee cleaned out 4 years ago.
So true about the standing and sitting thing, trouble is my hours are good on c/outs.would cut my hours but cant really afford to lose the money,i also have my 4 year old granddaughter living with me.She is really good though.
Wonder what i am going to be like in a few years,i am only 43 now.
Does o/a get worse or is everyone different?
