Erm, excuse me, I keep reading about how the warmer weather is supposed to make symptoms and pain less and I was really looking forward to the warmer weather.

Now it's here, I feel no difference at all! None! In fact, if anything, I feel a bit worse! Still having trouble getting down the stairs in the morning due to pain in knees and ankles, my fingers still hurt from my desk based job and these past couple of days, I've developed new pains in my right shoulder, it sort of "clicks".

I know I went to Alton Towers on Monday but I was careful to sit down regularly and we weren't there for that long. I was expecting some pain, but not all week!

How is everyone else? Do you feel better or worse with the warmer weather?

Normally I improve in the warmer weather, but this year it has made no difference whatsoever. In fact I am almost worse, as the heat makes the inflamed joints unbearable. It is horrible to feel so rotten in such lovely weather, and the fever and sweats is so embarrassing! It is harder to hide in the sweltering heat. Also my numbness in my feet hasn't improved so I can't wear sandals  which is a pain. I am glad in a funny kind of way to know I am not the only one. As no one else really understands what it is like.

hi nina, no weather makes no difference at all. you said about your shoulder, oddly i have recently developed a painful neck and left shoulder, it clicks and aches so much, can't see why though!! it started with what i thought was a stiff neck and it has gradually got worse, some days i can barely turn my head, and my shoulder seems to ache.
it's much worse at night, well it seems that way, i can't get comfy at all, i wake up every hour or so because my neck is so painful, then i have the joy of trying to change position without yelping! don't want to disturb my husband!!!
    sorry, did i thread jack?!!!

I agree too. I read somewhere that the Meditterean diet thing made no difference, and that people who live there as just as likely to have arthritis as us.

    Hi Nina

Nope warm weather never makes me feel better :!: I always have much more pain and swelling. Used to think I was the odd one out but there seems to be a few of us :)

    Hi Nina and all
The weather makes no differnece to me at all either except that psychologically the world seems such a lovely place when the sun is shining and the skies are blue. The really cold weather does make my back hurt more though. The surgeon said that when metal in your body is superficial it does make things more painful in the cold.
Wont be migrating to Siberia then.

today i feel cr*ppy! achy and tired, but then our cat had to have stitches in his paw yesterday so he has to stay in until they take stitches out and he's all better, so last night he was crying almost all night because he wanted to go out, so i got hardly any sleep, so i guess that doesn't help!!!
my neck and shoulders hurt and so do my knees, moan, moan, moan, sorry!!!

I hope you all start to feel better soon - sorry, I didn't mean to make you all feel bad!

To make things worse it's started bl00dy raining again! The warmer weather makes no difference but wet and cold weather definitely makes things worse!

    Hi Nina
I don’t think the weather makes any difference at least not with me. Its probably all in the mind, When the weather is good it gives you a more positive attitude and outlook, it make you want to do things or go out and that makes you more positive. I overdone things a little during the good spell last week and now I’m paying the price been in bed 2 days. But I do hope the good weather returns soon and I can go play with my plants in the greenhouse and garden. Your working and a busy mum so you spend lots of time doing, I feel sorry for mums who have the kids the house and work to cope with on top of the illness it must get hard to cope at times when your body is crying out for a rest and you have the kids to see to or the tea to cook. Take Care Nina and all you mums.

I had heat treament from the age of 2 to relieve the pain, it wasn't until I was 11 they began trying me with ice packs, and I can tell you I am much better in cold weather than hot. I always have bags of frozen peas in the freezer for when I feel I need to get the inflammation down.
    on a lighter note....
I once ran away from home when I was young and went to stay with my aunty in Blackpool, I lived in Leeds at the time, and my aunty was at work so I sat on the beach waiting for her, after several hours I couldn't get up, as my joints had all inflamed, I felt a proper idiot, I had to shout a donkey man over to pick me up, I jumped straight back on the bus and went home to mum, with severe sun stroke!! Wasn't funny at the time, but we all have laughed about it since.

I certainly don't feel better by being in sunny climes. I was wondering, if, because its warm, we tend to do more, irritate our joints and become fatigued, the heat of the day adding to our decline? Grass cutting every five days, YUK!

Mine you the sun does raise the spirits if nothing else.

    8) Its a grin, honest!

I'm so glad it isn't just me !
Warmer weather does nothing for me!
We go to Florida every year for a month and walking around there puts me in just as much pain as walking here !
Although the Sun helps me have a positive attitude and i feel like i can do more - until bed time and i cant sleep !!

Sometimes you just can't win  !
