    Hi magenta,

I have seen a couple of Maxillofacial Consultants over the years for TMJ and arthritic jaw. One is at my local hospital and the other a specialist at QMC.

When you go they wil probably take a history of your symptoms, maybe take x-rays, have a feel around your jaw area and check how far you can open your mouth. They may also ask you to grade your pain/discomfort on a scale so they can compare this after you have had any treatment. From this info they will be able to tell you what's happening to your jaw and wether any treatment is necessary. I have had an arthroscopy and 3 lots of botox injections into my muscle bulk which were successful. I'm getting ready for some more botox again so will be asking for a referral on Weds when I see my Rheumy.

    Hope this helps,

    Take care,
    Marie x :)

    Thanks Marie,
It was the Maxfacial consultants that referred me to the TMJ specialist-they say there's nothing else they can do for me. I hope the specialist will help me with my OA. Thanks again
